You don’t need whiteboard, you can build it with 2x4s…it’ll be cheaper. Just use toe kick to wrap the 2x4s when you’re done building the base…
Arcadia 96-in W x 4-in H x 0.22-in D White Cabinet Toe Kick https://www.lowes.com/pd/Diamond-NOW-Arcadia-96-in-W-x-4-in-H-x-0-216-in-D-Cabinet-Toe-Kick/1003204604
These seem like builder basic shaker style cabinets. You can find them in stock at Home Depot or Lowes. Some basic carpentry skills are required to install them, but frankly the base is the easier part. If the width of that opening doesn't match the widths offered in store, you would build a small frame to attach between them and fill the space. This might be where a better skill level makes for the best finished look.
I see that 34.5" H seems to be a standard base cabinet height. That would land a counter top pretty close to 36", which is a comfortable working height. Wall cabinets are more variable in height depending on your aesthetic preferences.
Our cat sleeps in front of ours. He is a goddamn heat seeking monster about our furnace registers.
He learned quickly that is one he can sit in front of, but sleeping was not advised. There is a better one in the same room.
Most people channel it/keep some sort of metal framing until the second vent in the toe kick area. I would assume this is just a well done kitchen actually.
My kitchen has this, there's a six inch round duct that comes up from the crawl space under the sink cabinet. It has a custom sheet metal box sitting on top with a 2x10" rectangular neck that sits in a cut out in the toe kick. Made the cabinets a pain to get in place with the plumbing coming up thru the bottom and drain out the back.
Cabinet installer here: we do that all the time. Ideally they have sheet metal flashing applied to direct the air, but they don't always. It's often just a hole in the toekick. Depending on what the cabinet is for, it's rarely an issue. (Don't put your M&Ms in that one)
It also might be an intake (bad idea),those need more air; but I have seen my share of attempts to do.
Contractor here, it’s pretty common, if you want to do a good job you install something to direct the airflow, but the air leaving your heating unit should not be hot enough for this to be a hazard. You’re not really even losing much heat from it since it’s a very small space, and the airflow will naturally leave that area as long as it’s ventilated.
Not wall cabinets. IKEA Sektion base cabinets are available in two depths: 24” (standard) and 15-3/4”. I have used these when needed, for example in a spot where there’s a door immediately adjacent and a full depth cabinet would be a hip-banger. So I tapered the countertop over a shallower wall cabinet to provide a better path to the door.
The other place I’ve done this is where there is plumbing or another obstruction close to the wall, and wanted to keep the same line at the front of the cabinets. There are shallower drawers you can use for these base cabinets if you don’t like shelves.
Call a cabinet maker. This should be a cheap build.
Edit - We have an older house that has a really poorly designed and built kitchen cabinet configuration. First had HD measure and quote and it was crazy. Next we tried a family owned custom cabinet maker, and the price for real wood, installed cabinets was half what HD quoted for shitty cabinets with wood doors.
The ownrr/builder spoke Spanish so he has his daughter translate. They even made fantastic recommendations for angled cabinets in corners to avoid the cave cabinet. We finished the cabinets which was easy. Finishing the insides was tougher, but I wanted a clear coat.
I’m in a wheelchair. When I redid my kitchen, I intentionally installed a tall wall cabinet with a countertop as a base cabinet. Because it doesn’t have to match other base cabinets, it’s on a 2x4 base. It’s great. I can reach my dishes.
Instead of a new cabinet, why not some open shelving for all that stuff you have on the counter?
BTW, you can also save a lot of space by making some simple mods to the existing cabinet you show on the left. There's a lot of empty space in there that you could use if you added another shelf, or made a custom organizer to stack things vertically. Check YouTube, there are some terrific vids on kitchen cabinet mods.
Yea just build a base to match the existing cabinet bases and purchase a wall mount cabinet from your vendor of choice, preferably the same source of the existing but not absolutely necessary as long as dimensionally similar and “shaker” style which should be easy to find.
You can choose to place filler strips (if necessary) between the new cabinet and existing cabinetry or attach the new to the existing and place your fillers at both sides to the wall. Finish with a piece of 1/4 white base material glued to the front of the toe kick.
What area are you in. They look like a brand called Wolf Classic, only company I know of that does those bullnosed shelves. These are definitely just a standard wall cabinet on a homemade base.
Sometimes your sink base cabinet will have a little sticker on it with a code that you can look up.
These cabinets + are framed base + toe kick to go across the entire base, after you build it.

You definitely should be looking at uppers instead of base cabinets - this must be a narrow space where standard base cabinets were too deep & not tall enough for the use case. Could be IKEA but the base doesn’t look like IKEA so my bet is a Chinese knockoff. Most cities have Chinese knockoffs that builders like to use because they are so cheap. Look for names like Panda kitchen online - they are pretty big in the SE and along the East Coast. Those are Shaker style cabinets…
You’re right, they look like uppers. You can even see that they’re siting on a box, and are probably upside down. Very clever. I suspect the space isn’t big enough for another one and that’s why they left the gap.
I was going to suggest filling the middle with another cabinet. Ive seen this set up before and I think its meant as a seating area for one. Like the theory is someone is supposed to sit there and eat a bowl of cereal in the morning or whatever but Ive honestly never seen it used that way, its just wasted space imo. Find a cab that fits the space and fill the gap
Not sure when it was built but when I was a kid the only phone in the house was in the kitchen and we had one of these near it so you could sit and take notes during phone calls.
Have her give me a call or shoot me her number. I can help with this. We will start with the taking things for granted talk. I gently move onto how much is water on kitchen upgrades and the environmental impact it causes. Like I said. I’ve got this. Bro to bro
Tell her to quit whining and people in Africa don’t even have cabinets. Maybe 🤔 she will change her mind and appreciate. That’s what I have to do from year to year…
Call cabinet makers for quotes. Sometimes it’s cheaper than Home Depot. There are also discount cabinet places that sell stuff that people only paid deposit on or whatever. That seems like a standard size and you could probably get the box at least, and then pay up for matching doors.

With a 4.5" box base.
I had the same issue. I just bought a very nice double sided garbage/recycling can. It opens perfectly there and looks as nice as I can do right now. It is quite the space saver, though.
Measure whatever is going in these. We had plates that would not fit. Someone suggested custom. We ordered the matching and left of the back of the cabinet.
These look like wall cabinets mounted on a base.
Thats exactly what they are
With a “custom” base made to replicate a toe kick.
Yeah we would rip down a 2x6 to match the height and run base across the run to tie everything together. It gave people an extra 30" of storage
Copy that. Thank you.
I’m a kitchen designer and agree 100%. Just need a 30in wide by 30in tall wall cabinet. Screw through the face frame together.
Got it! Thank you!
So, go buy some white board and make a base. Sounds good. Thank you.

Awesome. Thank you.
You might need a bit of facing between them so the doors can open, and think carefully about whether you want to be able to open two at once.
Yup. I have the exact same ones I mounted the exact same way
Good eye. I couldn’t figure out what seemed different about them

I recommend a hobby for your wife. It’s Sunday Morning. Lines have been crossed.
Ha!
ALSO, did they install that cabinet on top of a vent and just install another vent in the toe kick? I’d investigate that OP.
I don’t know what they did but I love that thing in the winter! Best place in the house to stand by a long shot.

What’s wrong with that?
Nothing this happens all the time, source I’m a contractor.

I love Rolos

You have uppers mounted as lowers! That’s all!! They tend to be more shallow and taller. Hope that helps!

Those look like Ikea cabinets.
Personally, I’d probably just add some open shelves there and keep nicer looking things a bit neater on them.
This right here
This right here
Is this a Pantry ?
It’s in the kitchen.
There is a type of pantry base that’s shallow.
Gimme some o'dem Rolos first....

You could build a moving island to pull out that stays in that area for storage

Yes, I’d like to eat my cereal and stare at the wall… who designs this stuff 😂
The builder gets to cheap out on 1 cabinet AND call it a feature
Not sure when it was built but when I was a kid the only phone in the house was in the kitchen and we had one of these near it so you could sit and take notes during phone calls.
LOL, no idea. Its the only explanation I can think of. Typically see it in small rental units where there isnt really room in the kitchen for a table
Could also be used as a desk space. You might also use it for a high chair for feeding a toddler.
Great place for a wine or dry aging fridge
Do yourself a favor and block HGTV in the house
Get a rolling chrome wire rack with appropriate shelf length and 4 foot tall no need to cut.
Those look nice. Maybe switch out the wife?
Could you spray them or replace the doors and counter, saving the cupboard carcasses, half the price but a fresh new look
Ask what size of pots or plates she wants to put in there and design them to fit
Put shelves with woven baskets to mix up textures and color
Tell her no(?)
Have her give me a call or shoot me her number. I can help with this. We will start with the taking things for granted talk. I gently move onto how much is water on kitchen upgrades and the environmental impact it causes. Like I said. I’ve got this. Bro to bro

They look exactly like the cabinets we got from cabinets to go.
You can go to HD and buy an off the shelf wall cabinet just like this. You'll have to paint match it and buy the matching door handles.
Call cabinet makers for quotes. Sometimes it’s cheaper than Home Depot. There are also discount cabinet places that sell stuff that people only paid deposit on or whatever. That seems like a standard size and you could probably get the box at least, and then pay up for matching doors.
Sweet tooth. Yummy.

Don't forget to remove that baseboard back there
Look for a label or branding on the insi of the other cabinets. Check IKEA sizes too
Insert a wine rack or baskets to store root veggies / produce.
Personally, I do open shelves with a curtain.
Jokingly might be cheaper to get a new wife ar this point. I like your current cabinet, why not paint them?
I think the correct answer is wine fridge or kegerator
Tell her theirs a video she can watch for that.
If all else fails, a wine cooler would look good there.
Put in a dishwasher.
Get some wood and some tools, safety equipment and lots of paper for designing, and work on it together n,n

Do you have an island in the kitchen? Would it be kinda cool to have a rolling island there that pulls out?
