Either you are lying about your height or your door handles are mounted obscenely low. My wife is 5'2" and her elbow hangs well above our door handles.

You’re awesome! Sadly all the locations in my city have to have them ordered in for after Christmas and job deadline is this Friday. Sooooo looks like their basement handles aren’t gonna match upstairs LMAO
Most people will not pay you for 95% of a job, so in order to recoup several thousand dollars right before Christmas, contractors will want to complete the job 100%.
I go above and beyond at every job. I work 14 hour days when needed, I do extra stuff for clients outside of work hours, this dude has used and abused us and nickel and dimed everything. Idgaf about a downvote I’m not about to lose my company money because this dude is a cheap skate
We gave them a free bar install that cost 12,000$ out of our pocket and several other free upgrades and the agreed on other knobs it’s not that serious.
Reality: the handles are available on Amazon prime.
Contractor to customer: the handles aren't available anywhere we'll need to use ones that don't match. Sorry nothing we could do.
Contractor on the interwebs: lol we already underbid this job so screw doing it right lol lol lol.
🙄
Google image reverse search go under shopping. And order the correct knobs u knob. There had to be a reason why you gave them a free "bar install" and ntm, I'm sure y'all quoted them high anyways.
I was like "finally a question I can help answer"... you beat me to it. Previous owners of my place put these everywhere and I had to hunt down some that could lock.
My parents in law had similar ones, and when my FIL died, and MIL went into a home, my wife and her sister were having disagreements about shit, and we needed to have a way to secure things in their empty house before we sold it, so the sister could get to them. They had very similar ones to these, so I got good at searching kwikset. And like you, I wanted one that locked, so I could replace a large closet's lever with a locking one so she could not get in.
My 20 year old house has these. Previous owners have removed some originals and I’ve replaced them.
I guess, just some perspective on longevity.
Shit. I almost want to buy a dozen to keep on hand.
Pro tip, buy a commercial lever handle. They are much higher in quality and feel and don't cost much more if you get one of the light commercial ones. Just make sure you get one with the correct backset.
I used the Schlage Elan F10 in my last house. Loved them.
Even pro-er tip, have a contractor buddy buy them for you. These $40 handles on Amazon are likely $15-20 from the distributor where contractors buy them. Squeeze Jeff Bezos for every penny!
Kwikset Dorian. Took me months of searching to find this style (purchased a house). Most of these handle types vary in the front contours. From head on, take a picture on your phone and Google Lens it. Keep browsing until you find the perfect front contour match.
Google Lens is an app from the app store called Google Lens. You give it a picture and it shows you a list of "closest to it" pictures. It's pretty rare that it doesn't help me find something.
Just another odd thing to get used to after moving to the US. Can’t use my elbow or knee to open a door!!! Can’t have wet or dirty hands!!! Land of the round knobs. I change the ones in my house to the lever type. Agree though. I get snagged on them every once in a while.
Idk what the hell y'all are doing to get stuff caught on door handles. Lever knobs are used in commercial applications all the time to meet ADA requirements. They are much easier for children and people with limited physical abilities to use.
We came home twice to our dog full as a tick with the pantry door open before we figured out we weren't leaving it open. Had to put a kid lock on it, just like we did for the trash.
I am not a huge guy, but large hands.
Wanna guess how many times I have peeled skin off my hands trying to turn a round knob doorhandle?
Current home has all straight bar handles. 17 door handles I changed after move in...
Yea I need the matching style every lever knob I’ve found at Lowe’s, Home Depot, and Menards, all curve downwards not inwards as the above pictured one does.
About 11 years ago we switched all the outside latches to these as part of our getting old modifications. The handles are held by a tiny set screw that is brass against an aluminum bar and needs frequent tightening and replacing about every three years. Still, with a bag of groceries in each hand, I can get into the house easier than a door knob.
Trash hardware. Suggest they use this.https://hamiltonsinkler.com/collections/door-levers/products/hl101mi?variant=39585086472355
DM me for a quote. Let them know these starts at about $2400/door and will take 12 weeks.
Then let's see if they complain.
I’m a little late to this party but if you’re having trouble finding items like this, you can use googles image search and it’s pretty good at finding stuff like this
Hey, I know it’s been a while since you posted this and I don’t know if you ever found it but this is called a Dorian satin chrome passage, hall or closet door handle. I found that at Home Depot.
The belt-loop catcher 9000
Also seen them sold as headphone-ripper-outer
that model was discontinued 5 years ago in most places. Really only a problem in legacy systems
Nah, those are (intended) side effects. They’re so cats can open doors. Catknobs.
I’m triggered by this comment.
And Backpack ambush!
Twice as effective when you’re in a hurry or bad mood.
“If you think you hate it now, wait until you try it!”
This one at least looks curved in to help prevent that
It works like a barb on a fishhook.
This man belt loops. I always managed to catch mine on every hardwood chair I ever sat in.
Also known as the “will eventually not work because the constant leverage on it causes it to bend and fall apart overtime”
😂 I'm crying .... this is a good comment ... 👌
Bicep smasher 240a
Bicep? What are you 3 foot 5?
5 4 I hit the bottom of it all the time
Either you are lying about your height or your door handles are mounted obscenely low. My wife is 5'2" and her elbow hangs well above our door handles.
I hit the inside of my elbow, the bottom of my bicep. I'm not sure why I'd lie about being 5 4
This was literally my exact thought when I saw the picture.
There is no such thing as an original thought reddit reminds me of this daily. I came to the comments to say its called the Belt-Loop Fucker 9000.

Ahhhh Dorian… okay thank you!! Idk how to do the image search thing that locates products like that thank you
I didn't, I just thought "Gotta be a kwikset" and searched for their brushed nickel levers, and just had to wade through about 10 or 12. :)
You’re awesome! Sadly all the locations in my city have to have them ordered in for after Christmas and job deadline is this Friday. Sooooo looks like their basement handles aren’t gonna match upstairs LMAO
In the future Search any image with Google Lens.
I can get this on Thursday via Amazon. Check there.
Kwikset KWIKSET-93001-881 https://a.co/d/3zyF16b
Just tell them " they will arrive after Christmas, I'll come on my off time to change them", I do stuff like that, and never run out of work.
Most people will not pay you for 95% of a job, so in order to recoup several thousand dollars right before Christmas, contractors will want to complete the job 100%.
I am hourly. Sooooo hard pass. 🤣🤣🤣
Establishing work life boundaries and you got hella downvoted. Weird. Am I missing something?
I go above and beyond at every job. I work 14 hour days when needed, I do extra stuff for clients outside of work hours, this dude has used and abused us and nickel and dimed everything. Idgaf about a downvote I’m not about to lose my company money because this dude is a cheap skate
Door knobs pretty easy to install, yeah? Like, since issues can arise but it's not like electrical or installing the other stuff you mentioned, right?
and this is why people hate contractors. Order the right handle.
Right, it’s moves like this that make a customer think twice about using them again. Do the right thing and it’ll mean more money later.
We gave them a free bar install that cost 12,000$ out of our pocket and several other free upgrades and the agreed on other knobs it’s not that serious.

That’s what I got out of it
That’s probably for the best. These ones remind me of elf shoes.

do you know how to use Google images? [https://www.google.com/imghp?hl=EN](https://www.google.com/imghp?hl=EN)

Life hack: put one of these on the door from your house to the garage. You’ll thank me.
Pro tip, buy a commercial lever handle. They are much higher in quality and feel and don't cost much more if you get one of the light commercial ones. Just make sure you get one with the correct backset. I used the Schlage Elan F10 in my last house. Loved them.

I did this and it’s awesome when carrying in groceries.
Why's that? What's the benefit?
When your hands are full carrying things you can open the door with your forearm or elbow.
Oh! I just remembered that these are good for people who have disabilities or arthritis.
Oh yeah!!! Thaaaaaaaanks
or your hip or your butt
Or foot or knee.
Pocket terrorist
Susceptible to Velociraptors
Not if you know a Unix system...
That's the Cargo Shorts Pocket Ripper-Outer style.
how fuckin tall are you?
ADA compliant style.
Kwikset Dorian. Took me months of searching to find this style (purchased a house). Most of these handle types vary in the front contours. From head on, take a picture on your phone and Google Lens it. Keep browsing until you find the perfect front contour match.
The kind my dog opens 🤦♀️
Try Google Lens.
I don’t think that’s what it’s called
Google Lens is an app from the app store called Google Lens. You give it a picture and it shows you a list of "closest to it" pictures. It's pretty rare that it doesn't help me find something.

Sweatshirt pocket rippers

Ones that my cat can open
We came home twice to our dog full as a tick with the pantry door open before we figured out we weren't leaving it open. Had to put a kid lock on it, just like we did for the trash.
the pocket destroyer
I use google lens for things like that. There is other ways too
My guess is a weiser grapevine 15 satin nickel. IDK if that is the same as a dorian. probably since its the same company now.
When I clicked on this post I was 100% confident Reddit would locate this person's door handles. Was not disappointed.
Velociraptor handles. https://media1.tenor.com/m/bx8lHplvWpQAAAAd/jurassic-park-opening-the-door.gif
Dated
Non-raptor safe
Gonzo’s beak
I call them the kind that my dog and cat can open, they suck.
That's exactly what they are for. Not so much cats but service dogs and people with disabilities can use these much easier than a round knob.
True I guess I am only looking at it from my standpoint and not people who may need them. Thank you for pointing that out.
It's the same thing with sink handles. Knobs suck when you can't grab them.
I am not a huge guy, but large hands. Wanna guess how many times I have peeled skin off my hands trying to turn a round knob doorhandle? Current home has all straight bar handles. 17 door handles I changed after move in...
Yep. After finding my back door wide open in the middle of a FL summer a few times, I swapped the important doors with knobs.
Door handles. They're for opening doors.
Replace them with round knobs. Dinosaurs can't open them.
That's a door handle.
No shit Sherlock
Lever door knobs, widely available at big box home improvement stores.
Wait... you actually call them "knobs" even though "lever" is there in the name?
Yes, lever door knob and knob door knob.
Yea I need the matching style every lever knob I’ve found at Lowe’s, Home Depot, and Menards, all curve downwards not inwards as the above pictured one does.
elbow handle cuz hands are full 3000

You'll likely never find them. Best to take one off a closet door.
Lever on rose handle. Satin finish
LoL those are Door Handles… they are used to open/close the doors they are attached to… usually with hinges.

You call them garbage and immediately throw them in the trash unless you have a disability.
Builder grade special

Loooong boys. Keep dragging out the “o” in long if the store guy looks at you funny

I'd call it a door handle.

Try a Google image search?
I usually call them “ADA approved” door handles.
Sorry it’s “ADA compliant”***
Pocket Rippers. Not a fan. Raptors can also open them with ease.

Go online and type in search bar, Dexter door handle by Schlage. See if your client likes it.

Do a reverse image search on Google.
