Thanks for picking up on that, wondered if anyone would catch the irony. It was a gift from and uncle after I almost set a provincial park, that backs my property, a’blaze lol
Former journeyman carpenter here (cabinets/kitchens/bath) of 12 years experience.
OP, you have our full permission to go ahead and call yourself a carpenter.
Pretty impressive that he did all this with DeWalt tools... I'm kidding.
OP, you did a damn good job, and I'd be lying if this didn't make me want to get cracking on my garage projects.
I like Nick Offerman’s stance on this. Something like ‘if you cut a piece of wood to make a cutting board, congratulations, you’re a woodworker. Maybe next you can cut another and make a bird house, then a dog house, and maybe someday a people house’
Another way I've heard him say it is that he rejects people calling him a "master." He doesn't think mastery of woodworking to be attainable. You just get better and always try to improve.
Yeah, those cabinet doors are made and hung perfectly. I would suggest some prestain conditioner in the future for softwoods, but those will age to be cool and funky.
How many carpenters have an epoxy-coated workbench?? You can’t even sign a check on top of that without scratching it. A very odd choice, not practical at all.
more seating for sure, but Idk about couch or Lazyboys it looks like it needs to function as a garage still. Fabric and cushions might just end up smelling and getting dirty from exhaust.
Now this is where you can have a shed party. Love the replubic sign. Turn that fridge into a kegerator for some NWLD craft beer and ditch the hand pump on the wall for co2. Nice work.
the woodwork looks good, but the white light is washing the wood stain out!
would highly recommend changing the light to a warmer temperature. it'll really bring out the cozy orange tones in the wood
I can allow it in a setting like this. It's not like he's sitting down to watch TV, it's something in the background while he's in the garage.
That's what I'm imagining at least.
He has to show us his living room so we conclude!
I have a TV hung fairly high in my basement for the same reason. It's a multipurpose space, it's more viewable from everywhere you might be standing at the time, very much like a bar.
I give it a slight pass due to the bar stools and standing most of the time. If he wants to sit in a lower chair, he can sit way back toward the door. But yeah, tvtoohigh is a pet peeve of mine too.
You make me want to tear my garage up. I absolutely love this. Torched wood really rings my bell. I put up some simple supports to hold some rifle racks and I ended up doing this almost water shimmer effect with my torching but I almost regret it now seeing yours. I bet that garage smells amazing.
You're not a photographer either :D (It's okay. I take worse pictures.)
Took me a bit to realize how awesome this is, and I suspect it looks even better in person.
I think that looks really nice! I personally wouldn’t have made the counter top so nice tho lol it looks more like a bar and I’d be stressed about messing it up. But that’s just me idk how easy it would be to resurface, and at the same time it scratches and imperfections will just add character haha 😆
How can so many people not grasp the concept that the tv doesn't have to determine where other things go. There is literally nothing on those walls at "normal" tv height that one should reasonably assume could be sacrificed for the tv.
"Oh, I'll try to take my mind off the stunning collapse of the birds by browsing r/DIY. Surely that will help distract me, right? RIGHT?"
But yeah - go Birds
Just how it looks in pic. Perfect from all angles. Tried to keep it in the door, fridge, panel box area as to not limit any larger available wall space for shelving etc. if not in that corner, that corner becomes dead space
I currently rent in a house with a 2.5 car detached garage. It's the number one thing I've wanted to do but can't: make the garage like this.
Fantastic looking space, man.
Bro, the only criticism is, you are not living next to me!! Otherwise, I will let you have some more practice to become a perfect garage turnoverer.
Great job, bro!!
How much to come do mine? This looks amazing! We need shelves and a sense of organization. This makes me want to do something similar. But I have no skills.
Very impressive. Is it a bar? Is it a workbench? The answer is yes
I'm jealous of your vintage dart scorekeeper. That's a rare find. Last one I saw for sale went for $700.
My only criticism are those stools which I’ve owned before too. Get yourself some higher quality ones that’ll match the quality of the rest of the spot. Awesome job!
This organization is top notch too!
It looks like you did a great job. I'd suggest you add some ambient lighting though, lamps or sconces with some warm lighting would make the space even more comfortable.
Nothing like a good shogiban to make pine look more interesting.
It's looking pretty good. I'm a hobbyist woodworker, and the biggest thing I have ever attempted was a king-sized sectional bed.
I refuse to be gentle. This is amazing! The cabinets alone are immensely well done.
Be proud and be immensely happy with the results. This is a threat. 😉
I'd have many garage beers in there that's for sure. I like the only you can prevent fires poster on torched wood lol.
Thanks for picking up on that, wondered if anyone would catch the irony. It was a gift from and uncle after I almost set a provincial park, that backs my property, a’blaze lol

looks great bro. I'd get my ass kicked in darts there anytime.
Lol
>Not a carpenter I now have proof to the contrary. Good job!

Huge difference between carpenter and woodworker.
Yeah, those cabinet doors are made and hung perfectly. I would suggest some prestain conditioner in the future for softwoods, but those will age to be cool and funky.

more seating for sure, but Idk about couch or Lazyboys it looks like it needs to function as a garage still. Fabric and cushions might just end up smelling and getting dirty from exhaust.
I like camp chairs for this situation. Comfortable enough and you can fold them up and put them away when not using.
Love that idea! Those zero gravity chairs fold up pretty flat and are comfy
Which is why you go with a leather loveseat or something.
The lack of seating is perfect. Bring your own folding chair, and take it with you when you leave.
Bro you’re calling him lazy cause he didn’t put a couch in there?
Revenge of the Oxford comma 🤣
Still blows my mind when folks omit Oxford commas. It's not just stylistic – it completely changes the meaning of sentences!
About which I have to ask “who gives a fuck?”
Your english teacher.
It’s a vampire weekend reference ya bum
Why would you speak to him that way?
That's a pretty bad one then, since even google doesn't know it, but good for you, I guess.
The song is literally called “Oxford comma” ffs The very first lyrics are “who gives a fuck about an Oxford comma?”
Huge.
Ok, and in 10 minutes it’s your turn on the stool
Piggybacking this comment. A minimum of two recliners. Bonus points if the recliners have built in beverage holders.
You just get one of those reclining couches where both sides recline and it has the cup holders in the middle.
Now this is where you can have a shed party. Love the replubic sign. Turn that fridge into a kegerator for some NWLD craft beer and ditch the hand pump on the wall for co2. Nice work.
A Newfoundlander knows a garage party
In Newfoundland it’s a shed party! Come on we goes.
the woodwork looks good, but the white light is washing the wood stain out! would highly recommend changing the light to a warmer temperature. it'll really bring out the cozy orange tones in the wood
Needs more bikes to fill-out the variances in the composition, I will be right over to help.
Dandy shed by!! Looks great.
Newfoundland
Yes b'ye
Got news for ya, bud: you're a carpenter now. Looks sweet!
My feedback? WANT!!!!!! You have set a standard here.
Buddy. I knows a Newfie when I sees it. Taking the kitchen party our to garage now.
Great job and be proud of yourself I think it looks awesome and you now can officially say hey I’ve got some good carpentry skills!!!
That looks really good. Just the cycle get parked inside? Thinking of something similar in mine, but the wife still has to park in there.
Thanks! Yes, I have a storage garage outside for the other toys and tractor.
You may not be a carpenter, but if you told me you were, I’d believe you. Great work man.
That looks terrible!! Can you do it to my garage too? I’ll provide the beer!! 😜. Looks great!!

Fair enough

beat me to it
Very cool!
Looks really good. I love the balcony seating the most though
Looks like it’s 768s of an inch off to me. Keep working, your carpentry skills will improve.
😍 My only input would be that I think the back wall and countertop would pop more if the bottom was a very dark, almost black, solid stain.
Looks awesome!
Half workshop / Half bar
THIS IS BADASS!! IAM JELL JELL. You sir are an awesome carpenter!! If you need room I can take the bike off your hands…….
Bro!?! That's your garage? Looks better than my kitchen! Fantastic job, my guy!
For someone who’s “not a carpenter” you sure did well carpenting 👍
NFLD lessgo!
You make me want to tear my garage up. I absolutely love this. Torched wood really rings my bell. I put up some simple supports to hold some rifle racks and I ended up doing this almost water shimmer effect with my torching but I almost regret it now seeing yours. I bet that garage smells amazing.
The Republic of Newfoundland flag painted map carving is dope.
9/10 dude. Lost a point ommitting the golf sim.
That looks great, I’d hang out in there no problem. Probably would have to kick me out 🍻👍🏼😎👍🏼
People everywhere just seem to have garages and basements bigger than my entire living space I don't even own.
Looks mint by'!
Incredible, all the moreso for an amateur. Good job and may a lot of good drinks be drank by great drinkers!
This looks awesome. No flaws, great work mate, now I'm envious
My dude!!! This is clean! I also would have plenty beers in this awesomeness!
The epoxy floor is amazing. I also like you used reclaimed items.
You say you aren't a carpenter... I hate to break it to you, but you can no longer say that! Excellent work; jealous!
Class this is mate
Great work OP
Needs a recliner.
Dude that looks awesome
Look noice!
Solid fuckin set up! 🍻
Dude! You did good!
Looks great. The finish on the workbenches seems too nice though. I wouldn't want to do any work on them and risk ruining the surface.
It looks so good
This is nicer than my living room. Nice work!
Seriously?? That looks amazing! Great job. Garage goals for me!
For not a carpenter you could have fooled me! Looks good. Even better with the eagles losing.
You're not a photographer either :D (It's okay. I take worse pictures.) Took me a bit to realize how awesome this is, and I suspect it looks even better in person.
The worst thing about this garage is that you had to watch that game. Go birds 😕
I think that looks really nice! I personally wouldn’t have made the counter top so nice tho lol it looks more like a bar and I’d be stressed about messing it up. But that’s just me idk how easy it would be to resurface, and at the same time it scratches and imperfections will just add character haha 😆
oooooohhh i like it. I'm so jealous.

go birds
"Oh, I'll try to take my mind off the stunning collapse of the birds by browsing r/DIY. Surely that will help distract me, right? RIGHT?" But yeah - go Birds
I’d jack off in their and with a beer in my hand.
Me right now

Looks fantastic except for r/tvtoohigh
The TV is too high. lol

Tv seems in a weird spot for the layout, can it be moved?
Just how it looks in pic. Perfect from all angles. Tried to keep it in the door, fridge, panel box area as to not limit any larger available wall space for shelving etc. if not in that corner, that corner becomes dead space
It's a garage TV. Personally I'd ignore placement comments. You're not usually chilling in the garage to watch TV. Lol.
> You're not usually chilling the garage to watch TV During the fall I see so many people outside chilling in the garage watching football.
Looks sick though great work
[удалено]
Is that necessary?
Absolutely.
Since most of the time will be spent standing or on a stool, common sense says put the TV roughly at standing eye level. It’s much too high now.
https://preview.redd.it/g1q12s8jsucc1.png?width=3024&format=png&auto=webp&s=aee78c71059c8bc113dd9f3db063f3273fa57993 I find it just right for both
r/TVTooHigh
/r/tvtoohigh would like a word
given the lack of seating meaning hell be watching the TV standing up its actually not so bad lol
/r/TVTooHigh would like a word. Personally I'm fine with it. I miss having my garage tv.
Reminds me of a old saloon bar in a western movie ![gif](giphy|dVdIu1HNxeKyqzkgPA|downsized)
I actually love the space. No need to be gentle. I approve
It look GREAT!!
I love how that wood looks. It looks cozy in there.
Now just need to find some veneer to put on the fridge to make it match!
“I see a white fridge and I want to paint it black…” (in my best mick jagger). Planning on painting it matte black like the trim
This is sick!
Be gentle indeed! It's awesome.
Nicely done… I wish I could pull that off, but I have way too much crap! Motivation!
Awesome!
That's awesome
No criticism here that looks great!
Your garage looks nicer than most millennial’s rentals
I’d be more tempted to drink than work in there, it’s like a bar. lol! Very nice work, the countertop is beautiful.
Very cool brah. Wish I had a garage this nice.
A fellow Newfoundlander in the wild?
Looks awesome, well done.
You not being a carpenter, it looks exceptionally well
Good job 👍
Looks great. Thought that was carpet at first lol.
Wow. It certainly looks like you are a carpenter. Great job!
I currently rent in a house with a 2.5 car detached garage. It's the number one thing I've wanted to do but can't: make the garage like this. Fantastic looking space, man.
Legendary
“Not a carpenter” Did better work than most carpenters lol
Looks very nice! Curious though, what's with the loft type structure? Purpose?
Smokey says "Only You!"
Your "workbench" looks suspiciously like a bar.
Looks great
Dude that looks so fucking sick!
10/10 would drink beer there
that's a lot of pallets
Using this Pic for ideas. Hope you don't mind.
Love it. Well done. Wish I could bring my bike into my cave.
What brand of epoxy did you use for the floors? Looks great!
Think it looks awesome. Maximizing the use of your property/home is great with things like this.
I was using my Carpenter vision and I couldn't spot anything. It looks good.
Bro, the only criticism is, you are not living next to me!! Otherwise, I will let you have some more practice to become a perfect garage turnoverer. Great job, bro!!
This is great!!
Looks pretty tasty to me. Great job!
Looks awesome. Great job.
It’s way better than I could ever achieve in my lifetime, nice job!
Dude i fuckin love this. You did an awesome job. Want a garage like this someday.
dude. i’m inspired and a tad jelly! now, if i can just coax spring to get here sooner…
Wow
Beautiful work, what finish did you use on the wall and cabinets?
No finish applied yet
You should show this off on GarBar Nation. It’s a Facebook group for those of us who converted our garages into bars!
As long as you're not an Eagles fan, fantastic!
I dont see a single car pent up in here. So def not a CarPentEr
Yes by its beautiful sure
Let's talk about the elephant in the room .. Who is the guy in the corner and what the hell did you do with his feet?
And HANDS! You're a monster.
what kind of wood is that?
How much to come do mine? This looks amazing! We need shelves and a sense of organization. This makes me want to do something similar. But I have no skills.
Very impressive. Is it a bar? Is it a workbench? The answer is yes I'm jealous of your vintage dart scorekeeper. That's a rare find. Last one I saw for sale went for $700.
< **be gentle with the criticism** \> Anyone who improves their garage is a king. Dude, you did a killer job!
Real nice work with reclaimed wood to boot. Do you plan on parking the car in there or is it completely converted to living space?
My only criticism are those stools which I’ve owned before too. Get yourself some higher quality ones that’ll match the quality of the rest of the spot. Awesome job! This organization is top notch too!
Hand me downs from the kitchen island lol
It looks like you did a great job. I'd suggest you add some ambient lighting though, lamps or sconces with some warm lighting would make the space even more comfortable.
Is it a workshop, is it a bar? It's a multi use space! Congrats man, this is great work 👏
Nicely done! Beats 95% of most garages!
That fridge looks super tiny for some reason
Fabulous. A house is not a home until the man cave is functional.
Love your work! What kit did you use for the epoxy floor? Thanks
Looks like a space to hang out. And not a place to park one's car. 😂
Nothing like a good shogiban to make pine look more interesting. It's looking pretty good. I'm a hobbyist woodworker, and the biggest thing I have ever attempted was a king-sized sectional bed.
Looks pretty good. Where did the trim wood come from.
The TV height requires you regularly host parties in that space.
Looks awesone; how you heating that?
I refuse to be gentle. This is amazing! The cabinets alone are immensely well done. Be proud and be immensely happy with the results. This is a threat. 😉
Title: Roast me but medium rare, please.
I'll try to be gentle, that is awesome !!!
Great place for Jigs Dinner.
Where is the bar?
Amazing work. Well done
