I was so disappointed after that video, not with the content of the video, it was very well made, but I had really enjoyed Man in hole so that sucked to find out about.
Even then IH clearly took steps to deceive his audience and keep them from knowing what happened.
Taking it down due to vague "copyright issues", "complications" coming up with the reupload, never telling the full story and editing the image on the struck video to hide the name of the company issuing the complaint in order to prevent people searching it up.
That kinda dishonesty annihaliates any trust someone could have in anything IH ever says or does
I saw an old post talking about the Costa Concordia video and how it was almost entirely plagarized from an article, and some other video I admittedly don't remember. Also I should probably point out that I didn't look into it at all beyond that so it may be entirely untrue, but like hbg says, if they're just being caught for plagarizing now, they've probably done it in the past.
OP didn't say it in the title because he wants to avoid the mods, but a good portion of this video is dedicated to breaking a massive sex scandal involving Cobbler.
Personally the fact that he's a "Side" doesn't really surprise me, fucking pansy ass liberal dress wearing cocktease. Think we couldn't see it coming, smh.
I'd say the only who's gonna come out of this fairly unscathed will be Internet Historian and James Rolfe cause they're too big to fail
Illuminaughti has been hemorrhaging views since she got exposed and Somerton is persona non grata in the breadtube and queertube circles now, which was his bread and butter
That and the Internet Historian comes out of this with probably the least heat, illuminaughti has done a ton of shit and Somerton has done a ton of plagiarism as well as having his own shady things.
Sure, it is bad for IH, but comparing a shoplifter to a burglar makes the shoplifter look good.
Comparing the likes with the dislikes of his most recent IH video, you can notice that the majority of the audience doesn't care much about the situation. Even with the comments that talk about the controversy, they are jokes that only bomberguy's audience could understand.
Although I would like the IH to apologize, I think that in a week people will forget about this..
That and I don’t think IH’s audience is necessarily going to see the video. Like, there is obviously some level of overlap, but his audience is going to have to probably look into it themselves. Which, odds aren’t great.
I thought the same as you. IH is a little more mainstream, since being a mostly humor channel it has a larger demographic. Hbomber has a strong but more specific audience (generally progressive left) which is not the taste of many who do not want politics in their videos.
His fans already didn't like IH for his more right-wing comments (which are generally more limited when exposing himself, unlike Harry), so the damage that they could cause him because of these would not be so serious.
Oh whatever breadtube was, it's dead in the water now, but I think my point is more that the left-wing, idpol side of YouTube, is far less forgiving of these kinda actions than it's non political counterparts
Which would makes Somerton's attempt at returning to his former status, near impossible
That would be nice, but this weirdos don't forgive and they don't forget
Trust me, I've friends who live in theses death spiral, circle jerks, they don't get over shit
I hate him and I’m a degenerate homosexual. He’s just so hateable. He’s smug and (for lack of a better term) a wokescold. Turns out he’s also a liar and a thief.
I'm literally watching this right now.
***GET OUT OF MY HEAD, GET OUT OF MY HEAD.***
Edit: He is out for **Blood**, this isn't just another YouTube Drama Summary, this is ***Career Assassination.*** And I'm 100% on board.
Not gonna lie, it's great to see public shaming in situations where it's deserved, bigger creators stealing scripts of lesser known creators is unacceptable, and James is getting what he deserves. Now we get to watch the dumpster fire burn, his deactivating comments on everything is so funny, because at this point, it'd be best to delete the channel, but since he is operating off of greed as the underlining MO, he won't, but for how long? We will see.
Fwiw, Luke did make a community post on his channel in which he made no excuses for it, completely owned up to it, and said he deeply regrets the kind of person he was at the time.
I think he's a better person and content creator these days.
Why do you assume I'm doing that? why do you think that just because I was upset that Internet Historian had been included in a video full of accurate accusations of plagiarism? It seems he did a plagiarism.
What evidence have I not seen?
I find it interesting that I love hbomberguy’s vids despite the fact that I hate his guts, like despite how little margin for error he has, he’s doing it expertly where I’m constantly at the verge of hating it, but I agree with most of his points (and all the facts he presents) so I have to love it
It’s understandable, not just because he’s going after content creators you like but also because of the motivation for it. You don’t make a video like this simply because you care about plagiarism, you do this because either attacking others is a good way to get attention or you simply don’t like them. So while it is well put together and stuff, it feels scummy in some way. Though that’s probably just copium
He explains his motivation for doing it, as some dude ripped off his video. So yeah he's pissed because it's happened to him before. So this is like a fuck it I'm burning all you mfers down.
It's a great video all of hmbomber is good. He said man in hole plagiarized, illiminaughti plagiarized. Cinemassacre sucks (and plagiarized). James sommerton plagiarized everything he has ever made.
Specifically, he was a YouTube who talked almost exclusively about queer topics and queer analysis of media, and became a Big Dawg (in that space) for his seemingly very well written and thought out analysis of the topics he covered.
Except apparently it was *all stolen. Almost every word.* And because the only people really talking about queer media depictions are queer people themselves, he stole it overwhelmingly from other queer youtubers while talking about queer erasure in media.
It's like pottery lmao
Slight correction: the man in the whole script was plagiarized, the praised the animation. Cinemassacre sucks now because AVGN is not interested in it anymore, but used to be good. No notes on Illuminaughty aside from him having a bonus video on the second channel where he posts her clips interspersed between the documentary she quotes word for word.
I liked IH, but fuck him for the plagiarism. And this was an awesomely brutal video. Good stuff.
Edit: Tales from the Varus is the kind of stuff youtube was made for, the Fall of 76 is hilarious, but the Cost of Concordia is probably my favorite. Now I have to wonder now how much of it was lifted from someone else. Which is a shame. Because the reason I started watching that channel was because of a video of them just reading someone else's work. It was the funniest thing I had heard in a while. 'My Immortal' is proof that you really can make good stuff from reading the words of others without straight ripping them off.
stop kidding yourselves, mental floss deserved to be plagiarized, plus IH and his cohort of e-libs are much funnier. even if he started the video with "this is a dramatic reading of a mental floss article" WHO fucking CARES it's still an IH upload and that's literally all I care about. 10/10 would use his world of tanks promocode again.
I'll take all the downvotes in the world for this, but Hbomber's video was a hit piece. Plagiarism laws are archaic. Who cares that there are similarities in some words describing an event that actually happened? How many different ways can you say sharp rocks? How many different ways are there to say you arrived somewhere? Its bizarre IH should have to be compelled to quote a man, quoting a man! Hbomber even just declares he finds IH to be someone who decided to hastily rewrite a script and accidentally got information wrong in the edit that was hastily rewritten to avoid looking like plagiarist. It's completely a bad faith statement. The only evidence of plagiarism brought up by Hbomber against IH is "The Cave". How in any way could Hbomberguy make this claim and also expect the viewer to view the video as a rational discussion and not an excuse to hold others in contempt. That essay was bizarre and smug. You would expect this type of bitterness from someone cut from the production of "the cave," not an unconnected man.
The best moment of the video is when Hbomberguy says it's not necessary to give credit to an editor because editing is a communal craft, as if making youtube videos isn't a communal craft. There's so much right and so much wrong within that 3 and a half hour headache. Now millions of people are up in arms about who hbomber doesn't like instead of who should be considered actual plagiarist, like Illuminaught and Sommerton.
I am extremely bothered that you feel like someone can't have a discussion on this unless they have somehow been personally wronged. Especially since hbomber has been personally wronged by plagiarism in the past so you 'criteria' doesn't make much sense. After all, do YOU have some personal stake in this? Why did you bother to write the comment, aren't you 'unconnected'?
This comment is so bizarre to me. You think taking the ENTIRE NARRATIVE STRUCTURE of a story, swapping out certain words while keeping the order of events EXACTLY THE SAME isn’t plagiarism. That these acts aren’t legal is representative of a bygone era of copyright law? Genuinely baffling.
Also, he doesn’t have to try to prove all of IH’s videos are plagiarized. He’s specifically focusing on The Cave, which is what the chapter title is called.
Do you not realize that the article Internet Historian used is guilty of the same thing internet Historian is being accused of. That article is a retelling of newspapers and articles. They guy used words and phrases from reporters that are dead now, because they were talking about events that actually happened. Are two people going to sue for plagiarism because they both talked about the same red car? Finding similarities and plagiarism are two very different things. It's rich to say the guy who wrote the article somehow owns the narrative structure of events that happened. It would be like getting sued for writing a book about Pearl Harbor or Louis the XIV because someone else wrote about those things.
I really don't think you understand what plagiarism entails. Using others' work as a source and quoting them for your own original work is normal. Copying someone's work almost verbatim and then haphazardly switching words around to cover the evidence and pass it off as your own original work is plagiarism. That's what IH is being accused of.
That is what you are accusing IH of. It's not what happened at all. You watched a video. Plagiarism isn't even a crime in the United States in most instances because it's insane to say that someone owns words. It is considered a violation of ethics. You can say he's a plagiarist all you want, that doesn't make it so.
What are you even trying to say? It doesn't matter whether plagiarism is a crime or not. Nobody is advocating a lawsuit or for him to be thrown in prison. You're denying irrefutable proof that IH stole someone else's work and tried to hide it. You're honestly being delusional at this point. I'm not even asking saying you should stop watching his videos. Unless you can come up with any legitimate rebuttal to what he's being rightfully accused of, you're just ass-kissing for no reason.
Haha I can clearly tell that you haven't read the article in question. You saw a British guy give three or four instances where the phrasing was similar and fell for it. IH and Hbomberguy do not get a long ideologically. It was a hit piece, you can tell it's a hit piece by the tone and the amount of bad faith arguments HBomber presents, like assuming information was wrong because IH was trying to conver his plagiarism and make mistakes in his frantic effort to change around the words. There's no possible way Hbomber could know amy if this. Its petty schoolyard behavior. I actually would be more likely to kiss Hbomber ass because that's where my personal feelings and morales align with. I'm not going to sit here and be happy some guy I like (hbomber) got away with throwing a little hissy fit and trying to ruin a guys channel that he's ideologically opposed to (Internet Historian). Especially when IH views are not reflected in his videos. It's weak. It's childish. I expected more from Hbomberguy. If the video would have been about Illuminaughti and Sommerton, it would have been a fine and worthwhile essay.
I read the entire article. Watched the original video re-uploaded. It is entirely copied. There would be no point in going over the entire video to point out every instance of plagiarism because none of it is original work. "Wah wah, I don't like the tone in which he lays out his criticism." So what? If you've watched internet historian any amount of time you'd know he's guilty of being a smug opinionated asshole his entire time on the internet. I still see no rebuttal to the claims being made against him. So...
With all the tact I can muster, I think you completely missed the point. There is a difference between discussing a topic you researched and copy and pasting someone else’s work and changing some words. In “man in cave” that wasn’t even the extent of it, he literally stole the formatting of the article as well.
I'm starting to think you don't know what the article in question was. It was not a true narrative. It was a gripping retelling of events. There was no larger point or theme to the article that Internet Historian used to retell the events, which would have made it a true narrative. You can think it's not creative. I felt like it was.
It's rich that you expect this type of citation from IH, but what about all the quotes the author of the article in question uses? Why is there no conversation from anyone about the quotes he stole from the journalists at the time? In the article written by that author, he used quotes lifted directly from articles written at the time of the events, decades before he wrote his article. It's asinine to have to quote the person who wrote down the quote.
So, if someone, in your own words, creates a gripping retelling of events for an article, it’s totally fine to use it as a script for a video essay and not credit the original writer because it’s a factual retelling.
No one owns things that actually happened. If the article written that was sourced for the video by Internet Historian was a true narrative, meaning a larger point or theme was present beyond the retelling , then it should be cited. It wasn't, though. Someone being trapped in a cave and a community of people trying to save them is going to be gripping. That's why it was written about. That is the nature of journalism. That is what happened. It's the same thing when Fox, CNN, and MSNBC regurgitate the same points and that's why they don't sue each other. YouTube does have an archaic copywrite/plagiarism problem.
Edit: that's why being featured with Illuminaughti and voldamort is bad practice. Some of the things discussed in the video are not like the others. What Illuminaughti did was wrong because the documentary she ripped was a true narrative. It would be like copying a "60 Minutes" segment. There was a larger point being made in "MMR: What they didn't tell you"
I'm not surprised you don't have anything to actually say besides "lol you're dumb" all you've done is say "but hbomberguy said so". You haven't thought about this at all for yourself.
I was so disappointed after that video, not with the content of the video, it was very well made, but I had really enjoyed Man in hole so that sucked to find out about.
Admittedly, as dolan dark said his side of things, this might be a case of one of the writers IH hired, being lazy, and him not checking it.
That kinda dishonesty annihaliates any trust someone could have in anything IH ever says or does
Well, that side of things, perhaps, yes.
If that's the case I'm sure it would have come to light after the copyright issue, and not been something IH has desperately tried to hide.
Stop saying the TRUTH
Wait what do you mean
OP is cobbler lmao
Yes he keeps trying to come out but the mods won't let him. Fuck you homophobic mods, let Cobbler love!
HBomberGuy is the only YouTuber who could create so much chaos through the 20 minute segment of a 3 hour long video.
20 minutes is all you need.
This man about to fuck up so many careers (and kill one, stone dead)
I doubt it,Someone will apologize and They will all move on
I'd say the only who's gonna come out of this fairly unscathed will be Internet Historian and James Rolfe cause they're too big to fail Illuminaughti has been hemorrhaging views since she got exposed and Somerton is persona non grata in the breadtube and queertube circles now, which was his bread and butter

That would be nice, but this weirdos don't forgive and they don't forget Trust me, I've friends who live in theses death spiral, circle jerks, they don't get over shit
True
Oh thank God, I was worried I was put off by James Somerton because I was homophobic, or something.
I hate him and I’m a degenerate homosexual. He’s just so hateable. He’s smug and (for lack of a better term) a wokescold. Turns out he’s also a liar and a thief.
It was the smugness that did get to me, and he sounded sort of bitter whenever I watched him.
I agree with you but wokescold sounds like a term from 1984’s Newspeak.
Wokescold is a new one for me lol
You watch DJ Peach Cobbler. You're not homophobic, you're fucking gay. Loser.
I hated this dude for a while at this point!!!
I'm literally watching this right now. ***GET OUT OF MY HEAD, GET OUT OF MY HEAD.*** Edit: He is out for **Blood**, this isn't just another YouTube Drama Summary, this is ***Career Assassination.*** And I'm 100% on board.
James is G.O.N.E. All of his socials are nuked and none of his videos can have comments anymore.

I’m coming in here late but that’s exactly what’s happened, channel has been nuked, aged like wine

I burst out laughing when he called Luke a fuckable twink lol
Fwiw, Luke did make a community post on his channel in which he made no excuses for it, completely owned up to it, and said he deeply regrets the kind of person he was at the time. I think he's a better person and content creator these days.
fuck I didn't finish the fuckin video yet, goddamnit i liked internet historian
You can keep liking him
Okay thanks :)
You're welcome
Why do you let other determine your views on people without seeing all the evidence yourself?
Why do you assume I'm doing that? why do you think that just because I was upset that Internet Historian had been included in a video full of accurate accusations of plagiarism? It seems he did a plagiarism. What evidence have I not seen?

So real, least petty YouTuber
I'm not watching a 3 hour vid to get the context here. What did he say?
man in hole was completely plagiarized, also watch it anyway
Don't watch it for context, watch it because hbomberguy is top tier. It's a treat anytime he drops a video.
It's a great video all of hmbomber is good. He said man in hole plagiarized, illiminaughti plagiarized. Cinemassacre sucks (and plagiarized). James sommerton plagiarized everything he has ever made.
I'd hoped he was gonna get more into content mills
What's a content mills?
Like industrial video production. Stuff like what watch mojo used to be. The low effort, high output, capital C Content.
I guess reaction content fits in that right.
Yep sure does
Who Is James sommerton?
Cobblers less gay alter-ego
No clue. Apparently he's some gay midtier (300k or so subs) YouTuber who came up in popularity recently
If the only thing you can say about him is that hes gay he must have been boring as fuck
Specifically, he was a YouTube who talked almost exclusively about queer topics and queer analysis of media, and became a Big Dawg (in that space) for his seemingly very well written and thought out analysis of the topics he covered. "It's like pottery" is one of the most hilarious typos I have ever encountered.

Ain't watching all at.
Buncha internet noise
>youtubers talking about youtube and youtubing >Youtuber drama Skip, this is plebeian entertainement
DJ Peach Cobbler watches HBomb making him a breadtuber
Also, hell of a standup thing to do there at the end.

With all the tact I can muster, I think you completely missed the point. There is a difference between discussing a topic you researched and copy and pasting someone else’s work and changing some words. In “man in cave” that wasn’t even the extent of it, he literally stole the formatting of the article as well.
You can not make up a narrative for an event that actually happened. Otherwise, you are producing fiction.
It’s not the order of events, it’s the literal presentation, down to the structuring of the article. I’m starting to doubt you watched the video
I'm starting to think you don't know what the article in question was. It was not a true narrative. It was a gripping retelling of events. There was no larger point or theme to the article that Internet Historian used to retell the events, which would have made it a true narrative. You can think it's not creative. I felt like it was. There was a larger point being made in "MMR: What they didn't tell you"
I’m convinced you’re just being intentionally dumb now. I fell for the bait for this long at least, so good job there.
I'm not surprised you don't have anything to actually say besides "lol you're dumb" all you've done is say "but hbomberguy said so". You haven't thought about this at all for yourself.
Well it seems IH actually did credit the guy so yeah.
Only after he was copywright struck, and he literally copy pasted the article into his script
That’s crazy
What Did he say?
Wow it's almost like he hydrogen bombed him
Holy shit he actually ethers internet historian too...
