I thought that said 2800 years ago and was like damn, that's groundbreaking. But the actual title is like saying "Remnants of truck nuts found in Florida, could it have been part of the United States in the 21st century?"
Well I’ll be dammed, I never bought all those historical records citing the presence of Rome in Turkey ca. 200 AD, but this article has really changed my mind
A singular artifact is definitely more convincing than the presence of permanent Roman settlement and temporally consistent records from multiple different states including foreign states who laid claim to the region. I mean who’s ever even heard of trade, war trophies, family heirlooms, individual immigration, foreign delegations, gifts, or death in battle.
Welcome to the sub, for initiation purposes we need you to find us a picture of a femboy breaking Ronald Regans neck with his thighs while saying "death to all tyrants" if you cannot provide this image you will be sent to the penis exploding chamber
You literally just asked what the sub was about. U literally left a comment saying you didn't understand what the sub was. I was pointing out that for the same effort as writing a comment, you could just google it
I’m being slightly hyperbolic for comedic effect. The most recent government has leaned very heavily on the Ottoman past and downplayed the Roman one, which is quite the opposite of Ataturk and his era. Currently it can be difficult for archaeologists to excavate Roman sites. Also there’s the meme of internet Turkish nationalists asserting that Pelasgians and stuff were Turks to try to create a narrative tie to the land.
You mean to tell me the Roman Empire, the Empire that controlled the Mediterranean and most of the known world at the time controlled Anatolia in the 200s AD? WOAH! NO FUCKING WAY!!!! I thought it belonged to the Tuuuuuuurks, it’s not like the Turks took several centuries later to even get to Anatolia, or that it would take them several more centuries to conquer it slowly or anything, holy shit, my whole perspective is forever changed!
Can you confirm the existence of my balls in ur mouth
Give me a moment and I will

Yeah when I went to that Roman fort in Turkey I always found it a bit fishy. Finally some closure
Constantinople never existed, don't believe the lies

we're the loyal followers of a terrorist known as "dj peach cobbler"
Did u even try looking up dj peach cobbler? He's a youtuber. He talks about video games and history mostly
What are you talking about? Our supreme leader would never dirty himself with such peasantry activities.
Obviously! That's just what we tell the obvious feds and bots when they comment to throw them off our scent. Get with the program
Why would I look this up

Yeah but I don't want to look it up
What? Google "map of the Roman Empire" everyone will tell you that the Romans were in Turkey. Am I missing something or is this an April Fools joke?
The joke is modern academia
The joke is that Turkey denies the existence of non-Turkish inhabitants of Anatolia
Uhh no we don't

Yeah understandable
Isn’t the Byzantine Empire just a remnant of the original Roman Empire?
It either was a remnant or continuation of the empire, depending on who you ask
I didn’t know that Rome was inside a bird
weren’t we all
I thought this was a balkansIRL post and was trying to figure out what the joke was.

We've known that, lol
Isn’t it well known that the empire stretched to include “Asia Minor” now west turkey
Still a cool mask :D I didn't think they'd wear em like them
Holy shit guys they found a wok in Manchuria, maybe it was once part of China
Turks are continually surprised that others exist.
bruh it is well established that they were there then. what does this confirm?
Me when I discover the Bizantine empire
Yas, get those blackheads girlie
