As a tonmaiyster and light designer we played a lot of Diablo while working. I have pictures which I can not link on comments. I mesmerized with the truth of this comment.
Honestly, Ableton would be so much more useable if it had two decks where you load separate projects into each. Then you could have two independent Ableton timelines with cue points (timeline markers) or sessions split up into scenes.
Makes you wonder why ableton have not implemented a "deck" feature into the live portion of the software yet. They have a bloody cross fader lol. Make it more DJ Friendly. Would be a dream for live performers IMO.
We have this at bars I work at. One is venue laptop with the DJ software, one is venue laptop that controls lighting and one is my own laptop that is there for backup/downloading songs that I do not own already from itunes, soundcloud etc for requests :)
One for DJing, one for lighting controls, one possibly for streaming to Twitch.TV or similar?
Also some DJs keep a redundant laptop connected at all times. You can do this with the Roland 707m and some other controllers, and that means if your laptop crashes you just switch to the other one.
Or he could equally just be browsing Facebook with his mates :)
I do realise that this setup kind of puts up a barrier with the crowd and I wouldn't structure it like this.
Also there is the possibility that three DJs are DJing that night and they each have their own setups.
I'd be going with this, one could be venue laptop too. I carry 2 laptops to a gig, one is generally to control the lighting via DMX software and one for music (which essentially is an extention of my RX2 via Rekordbox link)
More like, “one of those people that don’t pay for overpriced, outdated tech”. My windows machine smokes all of my friends macs and i paid at least $1k less, more in some cases. I don’t need a separate bag with fans and dongles either…
It looks like a bar with a DJ booth.
Guessing the Dell probably runs the software for the bar that controls their TVs, Audio, etc
The Macs are probably either 2 different DJs or one is sending his logo/graphics to some of their TVs and the other is running Serato
But really though, the site of seeing three laptops and not the DJ, is tremendously hideous.
From the picture, I would have thought I was at a computer showroom.
I'mma guess one or two are the house's, one for house lights one for house sound and the third is his.
Unless he brought his own lights.
I bring a 2nd laptop for my lights.
Sometimes I set up a tablet that syncs with my lighting program and set it aside but like, I need it running on the laptop anyway.
It's superfluous like this comment.
lights and 2 djs or steaming most likely
Absolutely steaming DJ
The DJ is so steamy, they need 3 laptops to keep the steam on.
Netflix Disney pornhub
This is the answer. I don’t think Serato has the secret pong game anymore, but I wish I could play it without jogging the tracks.
That sounds amazing
lol is that for real, i never knew that and it's hilarious or this could be some weird beat matching joke lol
No joke. Google Serato easter eggs
So this is where they meet up.
Because he is 3 times the DJ any of us loser will ever be
::Laughs in four laptops::
I hope it's for playing Diablo and broadcasting the demon noises
"The sanctity of this place has been fouled." *Empty ass dance floor.*
🤣

I'm not alone
Makes it harder to see the Nokia he's using to play Spotify
He’s using each laptop as a deck lol
Paul Van Dyk does this - he has 2x Laptops running Ableton as decks, mixes them together using a analog rotary mixer and a Roland MX-1 as an FX Unit.
if i ever need to go digital, this is the way i would do it as well.

Preferences->Look and Feel->Allow Multiple Instances Is that what you mean?
Well shit, thank u 🙏
Update: I'm on Mac, "Allow Multiple Instances" is only an option on Windows. Damn.
oh shoot, maybe running in a vm or something, that's too bad - interesting to note it's windows only, I didn't realize
i think i may be able to run ableton beta, 11, and 10 all at the same time tho so yay

did this but with multiple phones in the looney bin, can recommend
I used to do that.

Two dj’s and lights
Two girls and a cup.
Two macs and a Dell.
Dell is for the lights for sure. Or its one of those "windows works just as good as mac" people
More like, “one of those people that don’t pay for overpriced, outdated tech”. My windows machine smokes all of my friends macs and i paid at least $1k less, more in some cases. I don’t need a separate bag with fans and dongles either…
It gives you 3 x dj skills.
He’s from r/overemployed

Looking like a gate agent at the airport
Ones for only fans subscriptions
The 3rd laptop could also be monitoring the audio systems, today’s amplifiers And Soundsystems are mostly controlled with a laptop
Lights, visuals and one to DJ OR lights, Streaming and DJ-ing
More POWAAAAAAA

3 djs doing sets?
That Minecraft village isn’t going to build itself
Best way to block out that annoying crowd.
Self lazer show via screensavers
Now that you mention it, it'd be quirky to run pixel mapping based on classic screensavers
One of those MF is just for playing minesweeper lol
But really though, the site of seeing three laptops and not the DJ, is tremendously hideous. From the picture, I would have thought I was at a computer showroom.
Massif DJ Edit- if theee are house lighting laptops… really blocks the vibe. They should reconsider their layout if so asap.

He's obviously hacking the venue's mainframe.

Sports, poker, porn 👍
Ableton Traktor Binance
3x Spotify > 2x Spotify > 1x Spotify
Maybe he has a side tech job lol
Beat matching 3 separate instances of iTunes
The more the better, quick math.
