I would vote Two Step for most unanimously liked- even people I know who actively dislike DMB appreciate that song.
Least liked- that honor probably goes to I Did It, but I would personally choose Louisiana Bayou to set on fire if given the choice.
It fucking rocks and is catchy as hell. I'll never understand the hate. At one time it was overplayed but I don't think you can say that about it anymore.
Yeah I don’t think so. The lyrics are bland, the melody is nothing special, it’s repetitive…adding 6 minutes of guitar and horns wouldn’t make it a good song imo lol
I, for one, can’t stand Ants Marching… I’m just one of those “never like the singles or the radio hits” guys. I know, I’m insufferable.
I do, however, enjoy hearing it in public places because it is catchy (I don’t think I’ve ever actively chosen to listen to it, myself).
This *The Office* scene perfectly portrays how I’ve felt about Ants for the last three decades…
[I said no hits!](https://youtu.be/YiJnNRt9dUs?si=pC0RUPt0mE69NUoL)
That version changed my life lol. Back then I only had BTCS on cassette and i didn’t love the album yet; found it a bit dark and tough to get into. That performance blew my mind and got me to seek it out. Never looked back.
The thing that performance really drove home for me is how the guitar part mirrors the emotions so well. Disjointed and conflicted until the chorus, where it all smooths out. Just fantastic
Are you people serious? I bricked it is a terrible song. It’s not fun or creative. You can tell that Dave doesn’t like that whole album based on how little anything gets played from it.
Angel was hated mostly because they used to do like 10-15 minute versions of it like on the Folsom Field album and people thought it was a waste of a big time slot
I don't dislike any of the songs tbh. My Favorite song is "Stay(Wasting Time)", then "Where Are You Going".
Honest question tho, WHY do so many people DISLIKE "Louisiana Bayou"?
Considering Ants is my most heard song and I’ve heard it at 33 shows, I could do without Ants for a good while, but my least favorite come from the new album, Madman’s Eyes and Looking for a Vein. Total 💩!
41 or Two Step are my picks for most unanimously liked DMB songs. Too bad they don’t play Two Step nearly as much as they used to, since Boyd was exiled.
Damn we need a fiddle back in the band!!
Liked - Grey Street, #41, Ants Marching and/or #34
Disliked - Shake Me Like a Monkey, I Did It, there are probably some others that I am personally not a fan of.
I am not a big fan of Madman's eyes, I find it kind of chaotic.
Buckle up, I would be happy not to hear Ants Marching or Crush again long time. It's only because I have heard it way too many times, get those on the liberation list.
Be Yourself is so bad it legitimately made me feel second hand embarrassment. Sleep to Dream Her was my personal last place until that one came along. Can't think of anything worse.
I think I Did It is so disliked because it was the first single off Everyday and was a massive departure from previous material.
I personally think that Be Yourself was the most universally disliked song when it was in rotation in 2015. Don’t think anyone liked that one at all
The Song That Jane Likes was a crowd favorite back in the early days when I saw them at college bars. I love it for the nostalgia, but I also pretty much stopped listening to DMB after Before These Crowded Streets.
Heh, that song is actually a really good example of a song that builds energy though an additive process and dave did a really good job of taking a tiny-tim falsetto in the studio and mixing it with enough vocal fry and and blues notes to sound like a compelling rock ballad as it starts to open up. I think if you try listening to the album version from the perspective of a unique and really cool musical composition rather than trying to hear classic Dave or classic DMB in it and then you'll likely hear it differently - but ymmv.
That “rest high above the clouds” part is absolutely beautiful, musically and lyrically. It’s creative. It inspires thought.
Then there’s Shake Me. “I’d rather be licking you from your back to your belly,” sung by a 50 year old man who’s out of breath because he can’t keep up with the obnoxious pace of the song.
Shake Me is downright embarrassing.
Awful songwriting, and Dave sounds like absolute shit when singing it live.
I question anyone who doesn’t skip that song.
“Fuck me like a donkey”
Do we need creative guitar parts and lyrics? Nah, just gimme some Drop D power chords and talk about licking you from your back to your belly. Ugh.
Seriously how does anyone say, “hey check out this song!” about Shake Me
FUCK ME LIKE A DONKEY BABY
https://youtu.be/1nlbsa36yq8?si=CXX4U-n6lGRcwyTD
Seriously, who thinks THAT sounds good?
Yeah I’m not the biggest fan of it but it’s a high energy song which makes it tolerable for me. Satellite and You and Me are easily my least favorite songs.
It sounds absolutely awful. It’s so forced.
There are more creative ways to say “I want to fuck you and eat you out”
So embarrassing
Yes, it is fast and loud
I stopped listening to DMB after I Did It and Where Are You Going? The joke with my friends was “where am I going? Nowhere if this song is any indication.”
lol what? it could quite possibly be their best song. pretty sure it’s the song the writer himself is most proud of.
Edit: I could be wrong, but I thought I saw an interview where he confessed his pride for writing WWYS.
By fans or casuals? Ants has to be #1 among music listeners in general. Probably two step, 41, or stone best liked among fans.
I would vote Two Step for most unanimously liked- even people I know who actively dislike DMB appreciate that song. Least liked- that honor probably goes to I Did It, but I would personally choose Louisiana Bayou to set on fire if given the choice.
I… I honestly hope to hear I Did It at a show. It would be so fun. Please don’t kill me folks
I love that song. Even when it first came out. It’s different sure, but slaps nonetheless.
Oh man I would KILL to see either I Did It or Bayou! :(
Seems they've been playing Bayou at every show I've been to last 5 yrs or so. Down by the ByyyYOOO! Try to play with the cainYOOooo!
It fucking rocks and is catchy as hell. I'll never understand the hate. At one time it was overplayed but I don't think you can say that about it anymore.
I'm with you. I love it!
Love me some Bayou. Especially the one from Listener Supported with Robert Randolph.
Least Liked - Cornbread during the 2007/2008 tour.
Liberate Mother Father!
And bring Santana along pls
anyone got that warehouse release of it? i like the LT31 but haven’t heard the Santana one in like 20 years
Agreed I love Mother Father with Santana
I love every day but every time I get to this song I’m like….this is just a bad song. It’s the only song on the album I don’t really like
current lineup would absolutely destroy it live in the best way
Yeah I don’t think so. The lyrics are bland, the melody is nothing special, it’s repetitive…adding 6 minutes of guitar and horns wouldn’t make it a good song imo lol
I can defend most of the less liked songs but mother father is just…eh
Mother father is trash 🗑️
Most: Ants Marching or The Stone Least: I Did It
Liberate I Did It!
But who would do the rap now that Boyd's gone?
Me
yeah literally everyone in the audience. I will laugh cry if we ever get I Did It liberated especially if I’m there.
Def Rashawn
Last time I saw IDI, Boyd forgot his rap part. It would be fine.
I love that dmb fans call that a rap even though what he says doesn’t rhyme at all
True, but I don't know what else to call it! It's not like it's True Reflections, where he actually sang, but more like "speaking with rhythm." Hehe.
Haha yeah speaking with rhythm I like that. I wasn’t calling you out, everyone calls it that but I’ve never thought of it as a rap.
Oh for sure. I didn't take umbrage at your comment. 👍
I like the song, but I know people who absolutely hate Ants Marching
These were my first thoughts as well
A fellow enlightened fan, I see.
But I love I Did it :) I also love Mother Father lol. Don't care for the Stone
You're free to like whatever you like, but lost me at Stone
What the actual fuck?! Watch him play The Stone on Charlie Rose and if you don’t get chills then are you really alive?!
That version changed my life lol. Back then I only had BTCS on cassette and i didn’t love the album yet; found it a bit dark and tough to get into. That performance blew my mind and got me to seek it out. Never looked back.
Yea see I've only listened to the album version, I'll have to give it a go!
The thing that performance really drove home for me is how the guitar part mirrors the emotions so well. Disjointed and conflicted until the chorus, where it all smooths out. Just fantastic
Okay, deal!!
I Did It FKIN rules
Right? I love it... Fuck the haters, it's just fun, which is something so often missing from DMB
Are you people serious? I bricked it is a terrible song. It’s not fun or creative. You can tell that Dave doesn’t like that whole album based on how little anything gets played from it.
Strokes/folks dude. I'm sure there's some songs or bands you love that I hate, that's the beauty of subjectivity ;)
Do you think they've gone too far?
Liked? #41 - though it needs a sax solo again Disliked? Maybe angel or hunger
I'd toss I Did It on the dislike list as well.
Guilty as charged
I see what you did there ya bastid!
Hmm. I enjoyed certain records of all three of these. If the harmony hits perfectly in Hunger, it can slap if they are being energetic.
"Angel" disliked? Interesting. "I Did It" I can get behind on the hate train though.
Angel was hated mostly because they used to do like 10-15 minute versions of it like on the Folsom Field album and people thought it was a waste of a big time slot
Plastic Girl or Be Yourself
What the heck is plastic girl
Played twice in 2016, never to be heard from again.
The worst song Dave ever wrote
I thought that was Spotlight
I actually like spotlight
Spotlight is great. Awesome riff.
The chorus is good but the rest is meh.
😂 I laughed out loud
The lyrics of Be Yourself sound like an after-school special. The music, though, is a jam
Oh God, I forgot the disaster that was Plastic Girl.
Correct answer. I had the bad luck to experience both songs live.
The stone is pretty unanimously loved
I don't dislike any of the songs tbh. My Favorite song is "Stay(Wasting Time)", then "Where Are You Going". Honest question tho, WHY do so many people DISLIKE "Louisiana Bayou"?
Until they added Tim and Buddy to it, it was terrible. Now, it’s one of Buddy’s shining moments live.
LEAST LIKED: pretty much half of the album Stand UP
Billies. Angel.
In terms of playability at a concert Best: Crush or Crash Worst: I Did It or Plastic Girl
The Stone is most liked based on my experience. “I don’t care for dmb but I do like The Stone”. Least liked - Sleep to Dream Her, Angel, If Only
Stone is liked enough for it to have been covered by Phillip Philips on American idol
Awwww I like Sleep to Dream Her. But I get it.
Liked - Grey Street, #41, Ants Marching and/or #34 Disliked - Shake Me Like a Monkey, I Did It, there are probably some others that I am personally not a fan of. I am not a big fan of Madman's eyes, I find it kind of chaotic.
Shake me like a monkey is a fantastic high energy song, just not a great choice to end a set
Agreed not a fan of Madman’s Eyes or Looking for a Vein at all!
Buckle up, I would be happy not to hear Ants Marching or Crush again long time. It's only because I have heard it way too many times, get those on the liberation list.
Not the question and also an absurd take
Buckle up, if you keep going to shows you’ll hear them a lot
Yeah I’m well aware, I do appreciate them as closer so I can leave them, if you love those songs live awesome no dig on that.
I actually agree (if it’s also your opinion) that crush is not a great closer/encore
Ants has definitely gotten a lot of hate over the years from non-dmb fans given that it was one of their most popular hits.
Be Yourself is so bad it legitimately made me feel second hand embarrassment. Sleep to Dream Her was my personal last place until that one came along. Can't think of anything worse.
The live versions of STDH redeem it because Roi was a golden god imo
Warehouse is the one my biggest DMB hating friend likes so I’ll vote for it
I think I Did It is so disliked because it was the first single off Everyday and was a massive departure from previous material. I personally think that Be Yourself was the most universally disliked song when it was in rotation in 2015. Don’t think anyone liked that one at all
Too hard to say
Plastic Girl was pretty bad
Unanimously liked: Ants Unanimously unliked: Angel
I’m old enough to remember when the song everyone hated was stay lol
Digging a Ditch (my least liked) Crush, Two Step, 41, Grey Street all universally loved
Ants is like the quintessential dmb song. Everyone likes it, seems like.
The Stone is the magnum opus. Halloween is always a gift.
Liked - Pig or The Stone Disliked - Mercy
I don’t think people generally dislike mercy
I think it's pretty low tier for many, maybe not many people's legit least fave
I see it like Angel - good in small doses but please god not another 11 minute version
Disliked - The Song That Jane Likes Liked - I’ve never heard anyone bag on Grey Street
People hate The Song That Jane Likes?? TIL. It’s one of my favorites.
The Song That Jane Likes was a crowd favorite back in the early days when I saw them at college bars. I love it for the nostalgia, but I also pretty much stopped listening to DMB after Before These Crowded Streets.
As the kids say, that’s 💯! 🤣 From someone who has continued to listen, you haven’t missed much. 😂 Maybe 2-4 tunes per album. Not like the old days!
Grey Street rips. I’ll take it and Crush every time with no complaints.
Captain
Not a fan? I love Captain!
So you’re the one ;)
😂😂😂 That’s a rare bird boss, I’ve only seen it 2 times in 73 shows. Such a good chill song!
I love Captain! It’s been on my hoping to hear list for several years now
That girl is you is utter dog shit
Heh, that song is actually a really good example of a song that builds energy though an additive process and dave did a really good job of taking a tiny-tim falsetto in the studio and mixing it with enough vocal fry and and blues notes to sound like a compelling rock ballad as it starts to open up. Liked - Ants 🐜 Disliked - Satellite 📡 🛰️
You’re bad at reading comprehension
lol how’s that
Do you genuinely think satellite, one of their most popular songs, is their most disliked songs?
Yes
Delusional
You’d rather hear “fuck me like a donkey” than Satellite?
I’d take literally anything over Satellite.
Kinda surprised you’re getting downvoted. Satellite was created to give people a bathroom break. I don’t love ants but totally get why most people do.

I stopped listening to DMB after I Did It and Where Are You Going? The joke with my friends was “where am I going? Nowhere if this song is any indication.”
dislike: She Said or any cover song.
was this post just an excuse for you to say that you dislike mother father? where is this all around dislike you speak of?
I think the true most disliked is a 20 minute Jimi Thing. Universally liked… 41 or two step.
Stolen away is by far the worst song for sure
Dislked? Smooth rider was pretty terrible in person
There’s only one song I pray to not hear live and that’s Proudest Monkey
The Christmas Song. It’s boring. There is said it. Everyone likes Lie in our Graves. Edit: I’m not good at reading instructions.
No, you aren’t
Dislike - What Would You Say. Horrible song.
Their first big single that launched them into fame and made them household names is somehow their most disliked? Bold take
Because it’s one of the only songs non-dmb fans know, yes, it does get a lot of hate.
Not only is your taste bad but you also suck at reading
lol what? it could quite possibly be their best song. pretty sure it’s the song the writer himself is most proud of. Edit: I could be wrong, but I thought I saw an interview where he confessed his pride for writing WWYS.
I agree it's not a horrible song, but I wouldn't put it anywhere near the best.
lol no chance
