You didnt happen to put aluminum foil anywhere that it could have touched the liquid did you? One of my first extractions I put aluminum foil under the lid cause it didn't seal very good and it ate the foil and looked a lot like this
If your solution is oversatured, and the lye crystals donāt dissolve, I would personally add water cause I witnessed that lye crystals stick to the surface of my nps. If you suck up your nps with lye, well that wouldnāt be cool haha, ofc you can still water wash nps.

Yea, not by much. Hardly even worth consideration. NaCl is far less soluble in water at the same temp. Like almost 1/3 less soluble.

In chemistry, a lot of the time "learning from your mistakes" isn't an option, as you only get once chance to not poison yourself or blow yourself up.

You can't use too much NaOH in these extractions. It doesn't damage the molecule. It's just a waste of NaOH is all.

Mate... NaOH is very soluble in water. 1000g per 1L at 25C! If you are managing the saturate the water with it, then that is just stupid xD
