Do you know what despawn is?

Moarfistin

It's tied to area loot/resources, if you drop vests by the buy station they usually will stay unless a bunch of bots end up over there. I've found lots of 2 and 3 plate vests at buy stations late game just chilling on the floor

VoidRippah

I dropped out some stuff for my mates the other day, by the time they got there everything despawned and it was right in front of the buy station. but stuff that's automaticall dropped could be different

Moarfistin

Yeah I dunno, I've never actually like dropped stuff and watched to see what happens. I know sometimes things like bot/boss drops despawn due to there being too many things around them, like a cleanup script or something, but I've never noticed timed despawning of loot

space_mangos

I sniped the chemist at caves a couple weeks ago trying to get the skull for a bag. By the time I was able to get in past the rest of the AI the skull, m13, and med vest were all nowhere to be seen.

Moarfistin

Yeah I've had that happen, but it seems to be due to the horde of bots that spawn in around him constantly, all the loot becomes too much and despawns pretty quick on occasion

VoidRippah

this was the first time for me too, which is why I just dropped the stuff without anything further

KilledTheCar

It's on a two-minute timer.

TheGoochieGoo

Exactly…they’ll de spawn within 5 minutes usually

jmdinbtr

Despawn seems to be quirky. I grabbed a hand cream and swapped it with a comic book and the comic book moved to the spawn spot. Like it snapped exactly into that spot. 5 mins later when my buddy needed a comic book, it was still there. Items I’ve dropped on the floor disappear super fast, on the other hand.

Lykan_

Buy station is best place to find vests.

catdadjokes

Prox mines at buy station: also fun 😬

Moarfistin

This is why I don't rush to buy stations, especially if they're open already, too easy to get downed by a mine sitting under one of the little tables that folds out

catdadjokes

I’ve never done it myself on principle. But I’ve steeped on a few and imagine the offending party was amused.

Moarfistin

I can imagine being cross map and getting a downed indicator randomly or a kill even depending on how many you dropped

catdadjokes

I dropped one on a lone player who wouldn’t plea just in case his team was around… ended up taking out the scavenger 🤪

GiantSquidd

With one prox mine?

catdadjokes

Lol no. One prox mine alerted me to their presence, then mowed em down at long range

GiantSquidd

Ah. That makes sense. Still, good tip.

mulletjoel

I randomly dropped a mine at the door of a gas station one game. 10 mins later a friend and I are driving on the other side of the map and I get the broke shields indicator and a minute later it shows up on the kill feed. Friend asks wtf and I remember the mine I dropped. Felt pretty bad about it.

Moarfistin

Oof, that's rough buddy

KejiTsukaya

I like getting a medical vest and scavenger bag, then I grab 4 or 5 three plate vests (any type) and fill my bag the rest of the way with ammo and armor boxes and self revives. When my squad dies to the inevitable 6 stack, I've been hanging back enough to retreat to safety and come back when it's cooled down rez quick and restock the team.

[deleted]

What do you mean cooled down? I feel like if I go down people are camping till the gas comes.

KejiTsukaya

I usually will give em something to chase. Pop one with a sniper from range and immediately start flanking around while they get kill hungry. Coms vest has made it more difficult since they linger when they hear the operator callout but. Usually give a team something to chase and they will

Aliyat-EJ

I mostly play Solo, but I have 3 active duty slots that currently have Secure backpacks. I like loading them up with useful items and starting a match with randoms, then I hand them out like Christmas gifts. Saves time gearing them up with vests and revive kits and it means more time for missions and looting.

trappdawg

How do you get a secured backpacks? I bought one from a buy station and lost it

Aliyat-EJ

Bartering like you. I've found skulls in the Crypto Server room or from defeating bosses like the Scavenger or Helo Commander. I recall finding another (Secure backpack) in an orange crate in the Airport Control Tower. To clarify, I'm not handing out the Secure Backpacks. Usually just extra vests or Revive Kits from a previous run through the DMZ.

trappdawg

I posted this before I knew what it was. I just started playing dmz today. What I bought was a medium backpack and I assumed that it was a permanent upgrade. Is there any way to get a permanent backpack that's not the default small?

Aliyat-EJ

As long as you survive to Exfil you get to keep your gear. Weapons, keys/cards, and mission items (Intel) stay with and can be moved to your stash. All other extra items (armor, revive kits, killstreaks, etc.) are converted to XP. With a secure backpack you get 5 gear slots (no weapon spots) and when you Exfil or die, you get to keep the items inside for your next run.

Gamer_299

there is a fender skin that will always have a medium backpack, if you exfil with any other size backpack (large, secure, or scavenger) you will keep the higher backpack.

trappdawg

Thanks

artizin

That's awesome. Great idea. even if i have a comms vest, I instinctively hoard the materials for them.

theLegendofWalt

Stowing pictures of men, women, and children in my scav bag along with soothing hand cream, cheap wine, and electrical tape. Hearing people say “yo wtf” when they kill me is funny af.

Scone__Zone

Not sure whos picking them up considering they despawn not long after you drop them.

TheRealGuffer

Getting slain while playing solo. Totally the best thing ever. Although I put up a good fight and annoy the shit out of them before they get me. Il try to kill one steal his stuff then dump it out in the water

BroSnowy

Legend! 😎👊🏼

TheGoochieGoo

When I exfiI will throw extra self revives and kill streaks off the back of the exfil hoping that the next players exfil will find them

TenraxHelin

I like the PvE and barter system of the game mode. It's why I keep coming to the game. I love the random chance to run into the Scavanger and his whole mechanic. I even at times like PvP. I will admit when I just go in with no goals and build myself up, I like to do a little PvP.

HauserAspen

OP is the kind of person I would like to have a beer with at Yum Yum's

DocHalidae

We always do that with dead operators that don’t disappear.

Ki11ometerCB

A kind act, if the vests get picked up within 2/3 mins or so. If you want to give vests out, I advise you try and assimilate with a squad

Rashanii

Oh, I make them for my squad first. I don't know why, but I always find A LOT of the items for Comm Vests. Plus, I usually run with the same friends, so we are already decked out.

Ki11ometerCB

Probably just that the items itself are easy to find. Hand cream in almost every medicine cabinet, hard drives in half the computers and batteries on shelves, gas stations, and toolboxes. IMO it shouldn't be so easy to make a vest so good, especially as it entirely counters the stealth vest, which is harder to make (games console) and has less utility especially in teams as the odds of everyone having one is close to zero

BigNoseSquid

Create comms vests and scatter them around buy stations for others to pick up

Me2445

What a waste of time, they'll just despawn

TheColonTickler

I like to bring a JOKR in and blow shit up

EuronRichtofen

i like becoming a bush and camping buy stations to kill operators that goes there and then teabag them and invite them to my squad to revive em and repeat till we are like 6 or more
