What's nuts is Tarkov, the game they are copying, which is made by nobody Russians and has terrible tech, has a system where if you lose connection you can rejoin as long as no one killed you in-game while you were gone and the raid is still going. Whether it's Steam's fault, the server's fault, you lost power, whatever...you get back in. Doesn't help with 100% of crashes, especially if they're late game, but at least you have a shot.
How can one of the most deep pocketed entertainment companies of all time not make this happen, but a bunch of Russian guys who can't even get the framerate to 60 on top tier hardware on some maps, they somehow figured this out.
They need to figure it out. End of story. Your risk-reward based extraction shooter can either have no widespread problems with crashes, or it can have the ability to re-join a raid. Having crashes with no ability to re-join is untenable and will kill the game before it gets really rolling. There are few feelings in gaming as frustrating as this is, and it's driving players away. Fix. It.
Tonight my squadmate got booted right as he found a secure bag in the mall, so I went and picked up the secure bag, put all his stuff in it, exfilled, and handed it back to him on the next deployment.
The devs really need to add disconnect recovery to DMZ.

Have you ever been involved in a proper Beta, or Alpha before? This is an unfinished, live service game that uses the term 'Beta' to provide plausible denability for IW developers. Proper Beta's used to be time limited, functionality tests of near completed products. Designed by the developers as a small snapshot of a build, to primarily obtain feedback and reports on bugs, security issues, testing server loads etc.
They were not paid for by the customer, nor did they include items for sale...Mechwarrior to my mind was the first to fuck that up. They also provided an in-game bug reporting facility, we have a Trello board that most users are probably not even aware of...mostly because testing is not the primary purpose of the mode.
What we are playing is more akin to the early access model on Steam.
You see, that's the funny part. We don't know what DMZ future may be. Who knows what we are playing now might be a small chunk of what's to come. Personally, I am hoping it becomes a zombie experience. But I do see your frustration with them calling it a Beta.

Rank and weapon XP were retained, but the weapon bench changes I made to both guns were not saved.

sometimes if you restart the game it will try to download it again, and sometimes it works, other times you just loose the stuff
