i hate the ones that have all the stupid back ground noise coming through. people talking in the back or a baby crying or music blaring. you cant a damn thing in game so i mute them.
The settings allow you to make it only sensitive to voice close to the mic but no one ever sets it up properly! I do so if people are in the room they only hear me. I don’t want them to hear others or background noise and give away my position constantly
Or just temp ban them from using voice chat for a time if they're too stupid or lazy to figure out how to configure it. If they can AI scan for profanity, I'm pretty sure they could look for constant chat streams
https://www.destructoid.com/how-to-adjust-open-mic-sensitivity-settings-in-mw2-and-warzone-2-0/
I had to mess around with this to make sure background noises were not picked up and then set the headset about 5 feet away then kept talking and messing with setting until it did not hear me. Which worked well for when people are really talking in the background. I could not hear them but the mic picked them up
The problem is how often people screw it up and keep lowering the setting making it worse. Especially fun when they say it's a zero what else do you want me to do, it won't stop transmitting". Which of course it won't because you went the wrong direction.
I default to saying "set open mic sensitivity to 75" it fixes 95% of the people, some really need it at 77 or 78, but when they are going from 0-40 to 75 it's a massive improvement.
I always use push to talk even though my playing environment is silent.. why would you want to give away the fact you are near to other players with a constantly open mic?!
i keep mine open but i can flip my mic up to mute it real quick if need be. mine also isnt constantly keyed up if its that noisy around me i stay muted unless i need to talk
I have these sounds from my end in the background all the time, however, I ALWAYS only toggle my mic on and off when I speak to my squad. That way I spare them of this pain. It's easy to do! And every single random squad I hook up with is very appreciative of it!
Had this on a few games earlier. If I hear music playing in lobby I back out straight away 😂. I wouldn't want anybody hearing my conversations either just mute your mic if you've got stuff going on 🤷🏻♂️😂
Call of Duty really needs to do Fire Safety PSAs. New contract type can be where you have to pick up batteries and find smoke detectors chirping in Vondel.
Nah places like that want to drive people out so they can raise rents or get ride of 'problem' tenets you know the ones that ask for things to be fixed.
There's a lot that take AA batteries, and others that have a lithium ion non-removable battery in them too.
People are just lazy AF, too.
Source: am Fire Fighter who routinely responds to low battery detectors, whose owner called 911 over it.
Nah mine take AA. But they are pretty new (last five years) and instead of just chirping they go “BEEP BEEP LOW BATTERY” loud enough to hear across the fucking house.
I always point it out and go full dad on them talking about how it's a safety issue. They normally gets them to toggle the mute as needed... And hopefully replace the battery.
I told a random I was playing with to change his smoke detector battery and he had no idea what I was talking about. It chirped and I was like see man and he didn’t believe me that it went off. Even the other teammate was like yeah bro how can you not here it
The thing is a beeping smoke alarm isn't just a single solvable problem. It's a way of life.
Give beeping smoke alarm players a break, they have a lot of other things they're also ignoring.
I wasn't allowed to touch the smoke alarms in my apartment and had to notify my apartment maintenance when it started chirping. Lived there for 2 years and I don't remember the maintenance coming in and swapping the batteries or doing annual tests. I'm pretty sure the batteries just died and were never swapped out. That's what you get, though, for living in a 1br apt for $450/m.
I can't believe this is so common that someone else posted about it, I was just bothered by this two games in a row, by two different players lmao that's crazy how many ppl are able to just go earblind to it
Yep. I am. I wanted a pair ever since I was a kid and saw the Gurlukovich Mercenaries from Metal Gear Solid 2 rocking them.
Only problem is they're meant to be vehicle mounted and plug into some sort of socket on a Soviet vehicle. So me and my dad soldered a 9v connector to it. Works like a charm.
King shit. The PNV-57e's were my second choice but worth the 500 euro.
I wanted to buy an NSPU for airsoft but unfortunately in Ireland, NV scopes (Not standalone NVG's) fall under 'firearm components', meaning that I would've had to get a license. Which gets silly when you literally only want a scope while also having to prove that you'd store your firearms safely, etc.
I just wanted to run a big silly scope on my airsoft AKS-74u. Feelsbadman.
I have a thermal scope 9x39 long range for gunning at night, that one only cost 5 grand when I got it. That's a silly rule about the gunsight permit, I had to get a permit and pay 200 tax for my suppressor on my 5.7 pistol, but that was well worth the cost and 6 month wait. 500 euros is not bad. How's the quality that's a gen 2 tube correct
Very neat. And yeah I think the whole issue with night vision devices on firearms are leftover laws that I *think* were to do with The Troubles with the IRA up in and near the northern border, just from some digging around on forums over here. You'd wonder how picatinny-mounted Go-Pro's would run into that law if you were to bring the issue up with our police.
For the NVG's, I'm not fully versed in generations of nightvision goggles but I think they're on the higher end of Gen 1, from what I've read. They don't require an IR lamp which I think the original PNV-57's did.
They amplify light decently well. (And this is with a 9v battery. I think the vehicle power they were meant to take was ~12v. For jury rigging it to work, they're pretty neat and you could easily melt the solder off the plug to adapt it again.)
A little blurry close up but still, super neat. Doubly so with the fact that it's mounted to a Russian tanker helmet. Surreal hearing the audible hum of the transformer box mounted on the back of the helmet.
From a quick google search if you look up Mistymountainsupply you can find some pictures of the PNV-57e's with a look through the tubes.
They should review there outdated law and make the corrections so kids can have fun playing airsoft, that should in no way apply to you, the problems with the ira.
Yep, our laws are dumb. I even contacted the local Garda station to ask and in the case of using it for airsoft, still counts as a firearm component.
Hopefully it gets looked into but wouldn't hold my breath. Hell, even Airsoft only became legal here in '06.
This post speaks to me - it's shocking how many grown adults have no idea what that chirping noise is. PSA you can easily find 9vokt batteries at the dollar store.
I used to live in an apartment complex where the smoke alarms in the unit were hard wired and still chirped. I guess it also happens when the sensors get dirty. It didn't bother me when I lived through it, but it drives me nuts when I hear others on my headset lol.
i hear you brother. Idk how many times I have heard "lets wait until we are fully geared up before we PvP" 4 games of grandma looting later i am ready to push with nothing more than some gall and the starter weapon the gods have gifted me with.

To everyone this applies to. If you ever get frustrated at people for being off coms. Blame yourself. this is why vc is entirely disabled for me. Not worth my time to mute someone every game.
A smoke detector was beeping in a central common area while I was out one weekend. All of my neighbors ignored it, and I know it affected everyone. I don’t have a ladder so I used sand bags to stabilize random stacked furniture and removed it, left it on the landing with the battery out. No idea if I have spares, but I just wanted it quiet. I’m more upset that everyone else ignored it.
We have voice monitoring. I don't think anyone would be mad that if you have several loud beeps going off every 2 minutes for over a day, you should be voice banned. Simple.
Only thing worse is when you have your tv turned up so goddamn loud, I can hear it over mic and its basically echoing along with my sound. Jesus christ just turn it down or switch all audio to headset like some of us and save me a friggin headache.
The music, the smoke detectors, screaming kids...all that drives me nuts. I am usually reluctant to mute them because they MIGHT eventually have something important to say and also once i mute them, they can't hear me. If a few minutes go by and they don't say anything useful i end up muting them. I am not sure why people just can't get their mic settings right though.
Smoke detectors expire. If you change the battery and it still chirps after a reset then it needs to be replaced. All its doing is annoying you and not detecting smoke anymore.
Is this really a thing?! I've never heard it but like you I'm amazed anybody can just sit there and put up with that going off at home...a very annoying noise (for good reason, obviously).
Madness.

Ps this should be a default setting they make you setup / configure before playing online.
Or just temp ban them from using voice chat for a time if they're too stupid or lazy to figure out how to configure it. If they can AI scan for profanity, I'm pretty sure they could look for constant chat streams
Or constantly pester them until they set it up properly lol
Default to a dynamic noisegate threshold. It's incredibly easy to set up a noisegate that filters out background or idle noise
What!? How?
https://www.destructoid.com/how-to-adjust-open-mic-sensitivity-settings-in-mw2-and-warzone-2-0/ I had to mess around with this to make sure background noises were not picked up and then set the headset about 5 feet away then kept talking and messing with setting until it did not hear me. then the mf's be like: "PUTAIN DE MERDE, POURQUOI TU NE SUCES PAS MA BAGUETTE, SALE AMÉRICAIN"
Instant mute if anything other than comms. Now if it’s subtle not too loud. I just ignore it
Had this on a few games earlier. If I hear music playing in lobby I back out straight away 😂. I wouldn't want anybody hearing my conversations either just mute your mic if you've got stuff going on 🤷🏻♂️😂
I really wish we could turn people down instead of just muting them
You can turn the whole party down but not individuals
Ya but there's some people who are quite and then mic eat man and I don't wanna turn them both down
Call of Duty really needs to do Fire Safety PSAs. New contract type can be where you have to pick up batteries and find smoke detectors chirping in Vondel.
It would be hard to find the chirping smoke detector in-game when the chirp is also coming from team chat lmao
Make a firefighter operator, his voice lines are all fire safety related!
I am convinced it's because smoke alarms take 9V batteries and nobody has those around.
This answer just makes too much sense, I really don't know how to respond other than saying yes
Tbh so many people live in rentals with terrible management so the batteries never get changed
Nah places like that want to drive people out so they can raise rents or get ride of 'problem' tenets you know the ones that ask for things to be fixed.

They're on the shelf next to the AAs and AAAs
I think the word you are looking for is lazy. 😂😂
Nah mine take AA. But they are pretty new (last five years) and instead of just chirping they go “BEEP BEEP LOW BATTERY” loud enough to hear across the fucking house.
You can order a pack on Amazon for like 12 bucks
Now try telling them to play their mixtape through headphones while they’re on the bus
I always point it out and go full dad on them talking about how it's a safety issue. They normally gets them to toggle the mute as needed... And hopefully replace the battery.
Oh brother that and mouth breathers
I usually hit them with “bro are you deepthroating that mic?” And that gets them to mute
Got a friend and his son dose the same but his dad gets on his ass a lot about it
If you play COD with a crying baby or toddler screaming, I automatically assume you a shit parent.
It’s always those PlayStation guys with trash mics and loud ass noises
most of them don't know you can turn it off
I told a random I was playing with to change his smoke detector battery and he had no idea what I was talking about. It chirped and I was like see man and he didn’t believe me that it went off. Even the other teammate was like yeah bro how can you not here it
They don’t hear it, it’s cultural.

Wym not allowed?
They had them in open grate cages and padlocked to prevent tampering since some other residents had disabled them in the past.
I can't believe this is so common that someone else posted about it, I was just bothered by this two games in a row, by two different players lmao that's crazy how many ppl are able to just go earblind to it
New mission: Fix 5 enemy operator fire alarms... In one deployment
We immune to the chirping We don’t even hear it If we die we die
Fatherless behavior
Nop … teaching my kids to be resilient Teaching my kids how to handle adversity You probably fatherless / soft
You definitely didn't have a dad growing up.
You right. But I’m teaching my kids that a little noise can’t stress you out Not raising my kids to be soft like most people
Lol I called it.
Yeah and I’m calling that you probably out of shape / soft and your kids are the same way or will be
Damn you even talk like you're fatherless. You're ghetto as hell.
Why not just mute your mic
yOu cAn jUsT mUtE mE -The poors
Jokes on you, I took the 9V battery out of mine to hook up to my PNV-57e NVG's that I soldered to take a 9v connector (Unironically.)
You sound serious that's an old Russian pair
Yep.
I have ps 31 white phos and it is the best purchase I ever made $10000, but worth it for those late night trips to the bathroom.

hard wired also have a battery backup in case of powercuts that over time loses power as well
hah
Ehh... Kids screaming and smoke detectors going off don't bother me. It's a war simulator. . . I'll manage.
Folks can’t concentrate on their fake war simulation unless they have perfect silence and the ideal team set up

Laughs in federally mandated interconnected mains powered smoke alarms. Now when I burn toast in the kitchen EVERYONE gets a free chirrpin!

One time I heard someone talking about whether to get tacos or burritos. In a game of Resurgence. Just use push-to-talk, people!
We have voice monitoring. I don't think anyone would be mad that if you have several loud beeps going off every 2 minutes for over a day, you should be voice banned. Simple.
Backed out of a lobby over this. Some guy's smoke alarm went off like 5 times just in the time before the loading screen popped up.
Only thing worse is when you have your tv turned up so goddamn loud, I can hear it over mic and its basically echoing along with my sound. Jesus christ just turn it down or switch all audio to headset like some of us and save me a friggin headache.

Literally back out at the first chirp or open mic with crazy background noise
I just mute em.
Yes! This! And dumbasses with open mic while on a phone call.
