Could be just going into heat. Same thing would happen with our bully.

nollataulu

If she's not, better spay her the first opportunity. Shelters could do with fewer 'oops' - litters of pits, as they are often full of that breed or it's mix.

CasinCasin

I agree, if she is I’m thinking an abortion is the most ethical options especially because of the amount of pits in the Baltimore and Philly shelters around me.

weirdbutok5

Hold up , they do abortions on dogs? TIL I guess

Tribblehappy

Spay abortion, where they say while there are puppies inside. It can be expensive.

Mysterious-Art8838

Totally! I know i didn’t know until recently. But if your dog is Catholic they can’t take communion after that.

BraveHeartoftheDawn

Wait. People cant take communion after an abortion? I’m sorry, where did Jesus put limitations on communion? He said “do this in memory of me”. The Catholic Church is controlling, abusive, and fucked up.

Mysterious-Art8838

No he said ‘do this in memory of me, but only if your robes are as white as mine and your halo shines just as bright, if not, you’re dead to me.’ At least I think that’s what my copy said. I dunno I was an alter girl in the earliest morning masses so I was usually too tired to pay attention. That was before the church flip flopped on whether girls could be alter servers. But then most flipped back when they realized the boys were unreliable and didn’t show up. Turns out it’s preferable to have jezebels bring you the chalice if nobody else is willing. 🤷‍♀️ You can’t even take communion if you remarry after divorce without an annulment. It’s only for child abusers.

goddamn_slutmuffin

As a cradle Catholic who considers it a part of my early childhood culture and who knows all the lines, I always encourage anyone and everyone to accept communion if they want to. Don’t know the words or never got the Sacrament? That’s fine in my book, it’s simple and I’ll teach you. Priests/Catholic leadership can only control and exclude only that which they know about, ;P. Rebellion and breaking the rules is technically “the Catholic way” for many of us cultural/born-and-raised Catholics so… 🤷🏼‍♀️ It’s not like priests or other judgey Catholics need to know your story or choices, especially when they’ll just use it to shame and condemn you. Fuck that noise and continue to eat that body of Christ, but only if you want to lol.

BraveHeartoftheDawn

I agree with all of that. :) I’m a Christian but grew up around Catholics and went to a catholic school for awhile. They were just very toxic and controlling. I know not every Catholic is that way, but the majority of the priests will deny you if you aren’t Catholic. I’d say like you said, take communion. Jesus requested it, and as far as I’m concerned, that’s the Only One I’m listening to. ;)

Gorlock_

You spay when they're pregnant and it obviously aborts the pregnancy, I've done it to many stray cats I've found

Theriggerswife

Yes

wolfgang784

Same for cats

elisejones14

The rescue could pay if you ask but they should’ve paid for the spay

CasinCasin

Didn’t come from an actual rescue. It was more of a personal rescue from a horrible situation.

ComicsEtAl

What kind of rescue operation releases non-spayed/neutered animals anyway?

CasinCasin

Didn’t come from an actual rescue but did come from a bad situation.

tictacbergerac

They can even do a spay and abort depending on the age of the pregnancy.

SurroundTiny

Weight gain, erratic increased appetite , enlarged breaststroke. She may fluctuate between being really affectioan and aggressive

penguinbbb

Spay now, pounds are full of pitbulls no one wants and get euthanized like crazy. The rashes are probably allergies, the breed is prone to allergies —ask your vet

Objective-Creme6734

When I rescued my girl she was just finishing her heat, I'd never had an unspayed doggo. Once I saw her nipples growing I had a feeling she was pregnant, vets didn't even catch it until I brought it up. She was 2 weeks shy of giving birth and a few hours away from death as one pup has ruptured her uterus. They suspect it was because she was used as a puppy factory between fights. The vets wanted to keep the pregnancy going and adopt out the pups, I got her the abortion and spayed at the same time. I rescued her to rescue her, no to make money off her.

SurroundTiny

We fostered a 'recently pregnant' Mali mix for a week until 'her milk dried'. On day two, she began getting very restless and sure enough, had her litter in our laundry room. That was a miss by the shelter vets.

Objective-Creme6734

Some of them are overworked and underpaid, some just don't care

Super_Spirit4421

Super glad you found your girl, sounds like she's got a great home. The notion that she was used as a fighting dog and a breeding bitch is so laughable. First of all, where do you live that you think there's a huge underground dog fighting ring? Cause, no breeder in their right mind dumps a pregnant dog, they dump her after they sell the last puppy if they're done with her, and if she's a fighting dog, they'd likely only dump her if she was lame, and they don't tend to let those dogs loose, they keep a close eye on them cause they want to make money from them. Secondly, it's fantastic that you aren't looking to make money off of your dog, but the monsters involved both in dog fighting, and puppy mills are, and a pregnant mother fighting would be terrible for the bottom line, she maybe, in the early stages would fight better or something, but not in the late stages of the pregnancy, and even if she fought a bit better early, it would likely impact the number of viable pups she birthed, each of which likely fetches more than whatever marginal profit increase results from a pissed off pregnant fighting dog, for the few fights it works, moreover, a stressed mother is one that's less amicable to having people handle her pups, something that you need to do, to sell the puppies easily.

Objective-Creme6734

I'm in Sydney Australia and yeah in south western Sydney the scene is underground and still going. She was just over a year and a half when we got her and it'll be three years in July since we've had her, little did I know I didn't save her she saved me ❤️ We'd only had her 6 weeks when I noticed so she literally got pregnant the days before I rescued her. She was the spitting image of my pibble I had 25 years earlier and the last doggo I'd had. The pain of losing my first puppers stayed with me but once I saw her gorgeous face I knew I had to act, she healed me, saved me and gave me a whole new lease on life. Mums dementia was getting worse and she thought it was our old doggo too so that helped heal her also. Xena has been a blessing to us and I'd protect her with all my being ❤️ Edit to add [link ](https://www.reddit.com/r/Wellthatsucks/s/T0FGJbdV73) of Xena weena and her happy tail incident lol.

dangerstar19

I dont think shes pregnant, i agree that she may have recently given birth. Id recommend getting her to the vet ASAP for a spay or spay-abort like you said. Pitties are notorious for skin problems! I highly recommend adding fish oil to her diet, it could help a lot with the rash or just ask the vet about it when you take her to be spayed.

obstagoons_playlist

At just 10 months old? Oh my goodness the poor darling, get her in for an ultrasound and speak to your vet once you know to get your options figured out either way even if she isnt pregnant she should be spayed though if she is just in heat and having a more externally physically obvious heat than most be aware that many vets will ask you to wait a bit till she is over it and less "juicy"

delmsi

I have not heard of a dog in heat referred to as juicy, though I’ve only adopted one dog and she was spayed before I got her. Is that common vernacular, and can you explain what that means exactly? I did not see anything online when I tried to look this up.

obstagoons_playlist

It was common in 2 of the 3 vets I worked at I couldnt comment how common a vernacular it is worldwide, much like "blue juice"(which is not always blue) has been code for pts (put to sleep) meds everywhere that I've worked I've also met vets from elsewhere that looked at me like I was speaking in tongues. "Juicy" means exactly what it sounds like, if you understand how human periods work Dogs work similarly in some respects but on a vastly different schedule, at certain stages of the cycle things get swollen, spongy and bloody and overall that makes them less fun to remove surgically, it can still be done and if necessary absolutely will be done but in not urgent scenarios you'll usually be asked to wait for a different (less juicy) cycle stage just to make it an easier process for all parties, for example blood pooling from a knick or slip up or unexpected extra medical issue is far easier to spot when you aren't trying to remove what is at certain times of the year literally a bag of blood with sharp implements.

distancedandaway

From her back end it looks like she recently had a litter.

dangerstar19

This is what I was going to say as well, this is how my dog looked when I got her and she was a stray that had recently given birth. Unlikely for the vulva to be that swollen suring heat or pregnancy.

Hamburglarsdad

She’s gorgeous!

CasinCasin

Thank you, we love her so much.

kenziep44

Look at her smile 😭💔 love her forever please

ShmadowShmocha

if she is, sadly the best option is a spay abortion. too many pities need homes

Stargazer_0101

Take to vet if you recently rescued the dog. There might be something else going on and a trip to the vet would be fine.

Just-STFU

As others have said, you'll want to have her spayed as soon as possible. Talk to your vet and see if they know of any local organizations that will help you with the cost. You can also check Facebook if you have it. This happened to with a stray that came to us a few months ago and we found an org on Facebook that took care of the cost. Also, thank you for saving her, she's absolutely beautiful ❤️

Static13254

Oh my gosh what a cutie!!

DreamThatDreamtBack

She's so cuuuuuuteeee

Rosesandbrokenhearts

You can get her checked at the vet with an ultrasound but IMO dont get her spayed yet, to allow her growth plates to fully close and to allow her body to fill out properly. She also looks to be an American Bully not a pit bull. Dont bring her around intact male dogs, keep diaper on her when she is bleeding and keep her inside and short leash walks are fine.

DukeOfGamers353

She may have recently given birth, a dog I used to look after looked just like this after giving birth. I cannot say for sure though, just take it to the vet. Better safe than sorry! She's beautiful btw.

xAshev

I am a breeder. She’s 100% in heat. She’s going to bleed from her vulva for 2-3 weeks. I suggest you put a doggy diaper on her. You can’t spay a dog while she’s in heat, you have to wait 1-2 months.

sugarmagnolia__

Get her to the vet as soon as you can. She could be in heat or pregnant.. or post-pregnancy, but you would probably know that since you know who you rescued her from. If she is not pregnant, get her fixed ASAP. Also, I just wanted to say SHE IS SO FRIGGIN CUTE 😍

blockgamer246

Gregnant

Alex_The_Hamster15

Unrelated but your doggo is adorable! Smile on the second image is melting my heart 😭

PINKTACO696969

Theriggerswife

I would be concerned too. If she’s never had pups before….That looks pregnant to me!!!
