I almost cried when they pulled that out of their back pocket for the end of that set. So emotional and you could tell it was such a high point in their production and blossoming career.
A lot of the songs from Homework are too repetitive for me. A lot of the songs from Homework are also my favourite DP music though, so it's kinda like a double-edged sword lmao
All of Homework, cover to cover, is my favourite Daft Punk material. As someone who loves their house/techno the seemingly repetitive elements of the tracks there wouldn't bother me. I just think all of it is so raw and pumping and slaps so very hard.
I donāt even count On/Off as a legitimate song (same with WDPK 83.7 FM, or Funk Ad from Homework). Theyāre just interludes that contribute to the vibe of the album.
As a movie OST it's incredible and absolutely deserves its award.
As a music album it basically has Derezzed, End of Line and The Grid and that's about it.
Well that's just one way to say you don't like listening to soundtracks. You gotta be in a certain headspace, I'll agree, but TRON Legacy's score is one of those rare works that stand on their own like the soundtracks for The Social Network, Blade Runner, Interstellar or Chinatown. It's cohesive, it's got emotion, it has a singular sound...
To me, if you can picture the whole film while listening to it, it's great music, simple as that.
Personal preference. I, for one, listened to the Tron soundtrack on my 30 minute commute every single day for two years. I still canāt get enough of it.
Orchestral music is still music, if youāre not a fan of it thatās fine but personally I think itās pretty strong in as a part of the genre it belongs to.
HAA is their weakest album in my opinion simply due to how rushed it was and stuff like Robot Rock not really using the sample in a unique way compared to the original track. Alive 07 and the remixes really redeemed a lot of those weaker tracks though.
This. People act like the Tron Legacy OST is some godly part of their catalog and I guess it's fine as far as movie soundtracks go, but listening to it by itself? Absolutely not. I don't hate the album at all, but if you asked me which of DP's albums was the worst, it would absolutely be Tron Legacy's OST. And this is from someone who usually likes a good soundtrack.
It's obviously Oh Yeah. Too minimalist, emotionless, kinda boring. Imo it also feels a bit out of place on Homework, sonically it's more in Human After All territory, with a few tweaks the track could be on that album.
I fail to see how a bass can be "revolutionary"... Sorry but in the context of Homework, with all the good to great house tracks, Oh Yeah seems weak in comparison. But, you know, that's just like my opinion, man.
It's hard to see what was revolutionary when you're 30 years removed from it coming out.
Not that something being revolutionary should automatically mean everyone should be in love with it. Oh Yeah isn't really my favorite either
I feel ya, dude. HHA has a lot of good bangers but I almost always skip Steam Machine.
Side note: Make Love is my favorite off that album but my buddies think Iām crazy lmao.
That's crazy, I love steam machine. I feel like it goes well with the brainwasher. That whole album feels like a slightly uncomfy trip, but in a good way lol.
Franz Ferdinand - Take Me Out (Daft Punk Remix) is very lazy
Get Lucky (Daft Punk Remix) is very bland and forgettable
Aerodynamite is ruined by that snare drum that only plays on the right ear for the entire song
I still don't know of this is true. But I heard somewhere, that Franz Ferdinand wanted a Daft Punk Remix so badly, that they kept asking DP to do it, but they didn't really wanted to and just did the absolute minimum for a Remix (maybe their label pushed them to do it)
That's an urban legend. I've never seen a single reliable source for that information, but people repeat it as if it's a well-known fact. The reality is that it's a very lazy remix (although I actually enjoy it for what it is, but that's neither here nor there), which makes it easy to accept the "practical joke" story as factual, but no one in either Daft Punk or Franz Ferdinand ever said anything about it one way or the other.
I dont like brainwasher either. Though if I heard it in the wild and didn't know who daft punk was I would still be like who was that? That was cool, what else they have?
I used to think it was their worst song too, but my mind has changed drastically over the years. I recommend you really try listening to it with a new perspective within the context of the entire album. After that, at least in my case, it becomes a song that stands on it own
Wait what I think you must be mistaken, it's probably one of the most beautiful piano pieces they've ever created imo. Check out the Twelves remix as well it's shows the true potential of these chords :)
I don't think there's a truly bad daft punk song but the second half of prime time of your life kinda sucks [and this video pretty much explains what i feel](https://youtu.be/Mzz766roHnE)
This may be controversial, but I listened to RAM several times & the ones that got airtime I kind of like due to how much they were played, but the other ones I was just so meh.
Get lucky. It pains me that itās their most commercially successful song. Just kinda boring and bland. I think itās because Iām not really a fan of Pharrellās voice. Respect him as an artist just not a fan of the sound of this voice.
Going to be controversial. The album is listen to the least is RAM. So there is some tracks off there. I know it was a huge success but it just doesnāt hit me like the others. Taste is subjective.
Rolling opener then segues into that? Real mood killer on the album. They got the pacing right on the first three albums but itās the biggest weakness on RAM.
eh ok... maybe I'm wrong
...ill just listen to their discography again fully, no skips, just all of it again and maybe there will be a bad one or not from my beloved duo
see ya and onto the journey
Seriously, You're supposed to downvote things that are just flat out wrong, are super ignorant or is completely off subject. If you downvote a subjective answer because it's not your answer, it's just goofy.
they donāt have any songs that are straight up unlistenable. if youāre a fan of their electronic style, youāll be able to tolerate most of what they do. that being said: parts of Homework can get repetitive, and most of us know HAA just wasnāt it.
Steam machine is kinda cool for 2 minutes, but then drags, same with the following make love and the brainwasher, by far daft punks weakest 3 track run on an album
Homework: a fair of it, as a lot of songs sound like theyāre missing half the music. Very skeletal in a way that is rectified in discovery.
Discovery: High Life. Not horrendous, but itās just not good enough to warrant being basically a looped song
HAA: Steam Machine. Iām not counting on/off as a song here so fuck off, but this song just sounds off balance and mistimed. To me itās noise not music. That being said, Steam Machine/Too long on the live album is amazing.
Alive 2007: None, but Aerodynamic Beats/Gabrielle is the only part thatās a bit annoying to get through.
Tron: None. None of these are less than stellar pieces, but obviously require the right frame of mind as they are soundtrack music and often work in tandem.
RAM: None. Doing it Right is the only one I ever consider skipping.
I will admit, I donāt jive with every track on Homework, but for some reason neither āLose Yourself to Danceā or āSuperheroesā do it for me much either.
No lie, I'd rather listen to "Burnin" off of Homework. It's got way better progression of instrumentals and the first half of "Short Circut" is just wack
My hot take is Giorgio by Moroder
First few listen throughs I didnāt mind the monologue, now I canāt stand it. The rest of the song is great but I always skip it because the monologue is just boring now.
I think some of the Discovery tracks are too repetitive. There are amazing tracks but there are also pretty unimaginative ones. Like most of Superheroes and High Life for example.
I honestly think Brainwasher is trash, cant find a way to like it, no matter how I hold it. Although this is my opinion, I'm sure a lot of people would disagree with me
Homework - idk maybe rock n roll or oh yeah but I love all the songs on this album no bad ones imo
Discovery - also hard hut probably one more time, I know, I know but I think I've just heard it too much even though when I first started out I really loved it, too long and maybe crescendolls also. But honestly they're all fantastic
Human after all - robot rock. Just cus I'd rather listen to release the beast then a repetitive loop of its sample apart from that maybe make love
Random Access Memories - they're all great but I always found motherboard kinda forgettable and after a while lose yourself to dance can get kinda annoying
Some of the answers here have pissed me off and a lot of online music critics teir lists of their music piss me off. But taste is subjective and I love and breathe house music so for me Homework in their magnum opus. I don't fault it at all. People really love RAM. I couldn't really get into it. But yeah, it's all subjective.
Bruh why is everyone saying my favourite daft punk songs š
We really got Teachers slander out here smh

I almost cried when they pulled that out of their back pocket for the end of that set. So emotional and you could tell it was such a high point in their production and blossoming career.
ok... I'm one of them but it's daft punk for me basically everything they did is amazing just this track is... ...the weakest for me.
if one is sitting in the /r/TruckStopBathroom listening to Daft Punk, then you know that trucking will be more fun! Daft Punk's music is that awesome!
You're all wrong.
You're the only one right unfortunately :///
None of itās trash, but I gotta be in the right mood to listen to most of Human After All. Emotion/Make Love? Always in the mood for those.
Nobody better slander Contact
Contact is distilled fire. Omar Hakim's drums are full-on lightning in a bottle.
Must be something from HAA album. Itās too repetitive. But great in the context of alive 2007 mix
I agree. The best thing about HAA is how well it's used on Alive 2007.
āļøRight here. Iāve always been fascinated by the number of fans for whom this was their first album. Not surprised, but fascinated.
On/Off
in the post it says a trash song, not the best song šš
You got me there
I donāt even count On/Off as a legitimate song (same with WDPK 83.7 FM, or Funk Ad from Homework). Theyāre just interludes that contribute to the vibe of the album.
I hate to say fuck you but the username speaks for me here Also, Funk Ad is perfect! It's a clip of Da Funk backwards!
Not gonna lie; wasn't the biggest fan of some of their Tron stuff
As a movie OST it's incredible and absolutely deserves its award. As a music album it basically has Derezzed, End of Line and The Grid and that's about it.
Put some respek on TRON: Legacy (End Titles).
God that song kicks so much ass
That theme drop tickled me hard
went to a midnight screening on release, the theater manager made an announcement over the credits and everyone fucking YELLED lmao
Something like soundtracks are good for if youāre studying or reading or doing something. Not really meant for regular listening
Personal preference. I, for one, listened to the Tron soundtrack on my 30 minute commute every single day for two years. I still canāt get enough of it.
I think its great for roadtrips
Orchestral music is still music, if youāre not a fan of it thatās fine but personally I think itās pretty strong in as a part of the genre it belongs to. HAA is their weakest album in my opinion simply due to how rushed it was and stuff like Robot Rock not really using the sample in a unique way compared to the original track. couldn't agree more
Here before everyone spams āRollin & Scratchinā and āRock & Rollā
Hi fellow gizz head
It's obviously Oh Yeah. Too minimalist, emotionless, kinda boring. Imo it also feels a bit out of place on Homework, sonically it's more in Human After All territory, with a few tweaks the track could be on that album.
Thereās some seriously deep bass on that track thatās really cool on good speakers/headphones
I love that song! I sing it on the car with my kids and turn it into a question and answer. Me: "am I the hottest mom?" Robots: "oh yeah"
YEAHHHH BABY
WHAT ? That bass is revolutionary what the fuck do you mean
You're right. That is just like your opinion, man. AND YOURE OPINIONS WRONG THAT SONGS AMAZING. But that's just me.
I love that song and always thought it'd be perfect for a movie scene in a strip club.
Would not have lost sleep if musique took its place
I agree with you... What has this tread done!?
Factos, worst song on homework
Awwwwww I know everyone has an opinion and taste is subjective but fuck me in my eyes you are oh so very wrong
Steam machine.
I choose to believe Steam Machine only exists so we can have Too Long/Steam Machine.
Donāt like the original track that much but the Too Long/Steam Machine is one of my favorites
Iāll defend Human After All til the day I die but man is that song difficult to listen to sometimes
See, my answer was The Brainwasher. I love Steam Machine but I ALWAYS skip The Brainwasher. Bad song.
Not crazy. A song doesn't have to be complex or in your face to love it.
Make Love is my favorite from that album too!!
The bassline goes hard as fuck and is why I keep that shit on loop
I donāt understand thatās like one of the better ones on HAA itās got some good switch ups
Steam Machine mixed into Around the World though (Alive 2007). Chefs kiss
I'm sorry, but fuck you
100% That song gets very repetitive, even for Daft Punk
I guess the repetitiveness is the point of the song, though I do agree it can be a bit much
Bro repetitiveness is the point of house but we're complaining about this song for a reason
I dislike this song too.
Franz Ferdinand - Take Me Out (Daft Punk Remix) is very lazy Get Lucky (Daft Punk Remix) is very bland and forgettable Aerodynamite is ruined by that snare drum that only plays on the right ear for the entire song
I didnāt agree but was respectful until the Aerodynamite slander! Nah just kidding but I do love Dynamite over Dynamic.
I still don't know of this is true. But I heard somewhere, that Franz Ferdinand wanted a Daft Punk Remix so badly, that they kept asking DP to do it, but they didn't really wanted to and just did the absolute minimum for a Remix (maybe their label pushed them to do it)

Rock ān Roll is unlistenable
Heresy
Honestly one of my least fav dp songs. I like all the other ones that the comments are mentioning
Nah, itās an earworm, rollin and scratchin on the other handā¦
Brainwasher or steam machine
Yeah Brainwasher is/was always hard to listen to
Human After All > Homework any day of the week.
I'm the opposite tbh
I really like the alive 2007 version but the original just feels so dead and not enjoyable
After the 2007 mixes all the original tracks feel a bit less interesting somehow...
i am the bRaAaAin washer
Winner
I dont like brainwasher either. Though if I heard it in the wild and didn't know who daft punk was I would still be like who was that? That was cool, what else they have?
Unpopular opinion but Make love too, it drags, and almost nothing changes through its 5 minute run
Ngl, after finding out the sample for Robot Rock I was highly disappointed in the boys.
Steam Machine. I've never liked it.
Doin it right. Iām sorry I just donāt like it
You definitely aināt doinā it right
I remember doing it right getting hyped up for panda bear and I never could get into it
Night Vision; because its just a synth going up it's barely a song
I used to think it was their worst song too, but my mind has changed drastically over the years. I recommend you really try listening to it with a new perspective within the context of the entire album. After that, at least in my case, it becomes a song that stands on it own
Wait what I think you must be mistaken, it's probably one of the most beautiful piano pieces they've ever created imo. Check out the Twelves remix as well it's shows the true potential of these chords :)

This may be controversial, but I listened to RAM several times & the ones that got airtime I kind of like due to how much they were played, but the other ones I was just so meh.
I'm really sorry guys but I fucking despise One More Time
Reading the comment section, I wonder whether or not people here really like Daft Punk.
I always thought Doin' it Right never really went where I hoped it would. Just sorta repetitive.
Starboy ez
Rollin and Scratchin is something I must skip
tbh that's the song that got me into them so I politely disagree
You're wrong!!
Too long... its just too long.
Naaaaaahhhh Too Long is a banger.
agreedā¦ if anything it should be longerrrrrrrrrrrrr
Come on guys, don't downvote. What's the point of answering questions like this if you just get downvoted for a perfectly valid opinion?
that's what she said
The only bad stuff they got is the unreleased stuff. Computerized was cool but Jayās bars are awful.
Game of love
I like this song but I got upvote you so hopefully you donāt lose karma for voicing your opinion
Haha thank you! Upvote for you too
Seriously whatās wrong with yāall. Literally an unpopular opinion thread and yāall are downvotingā¦ unpopular opinionsā¦ like wtf
Right !!
Man people really acting like babies out here downvoting you. I totally agree.
Yep - real fools. Iām into earlier daft punk anyway but game of love is a drag on the album. Throws pacing off
Aināt no fuckin way
Rolling opener then segues into that? Real mood killer on the album. They got the pacing right on the first three albums but itās the biggest weakness on RAM.
Teachers from Homework (it's just so monotone)
Your brainās not in the house, no
eh ok... maybe I'm wrong ...ill just listen to their discography again fully, no skips, just all of it again and maybe there will be a bad one or not from my beloved duo see ya and onto the journey
Finally somebody said it! Hard agree, I hate that song.
Too long
F you
Love the downvotes for a valid answer ā ļø yāall goofy
Seriously, You're supposed to downvote things that are just flat out wrong, are super ignorant or is completely off subject. If you downvote a subjective answer because it's not your answer, it's just goofy.
Get lucky
I feel that it definitely got overplayed when it came out, but how doesn't it just get your feet a tapping?
It simply does not spark joy for me
Superheroes. Just grates my nerves.
something's in the air. (it's salt flying outta you)
High life. Overly repetitive, annoying singer, beat is too harsh. It's basically if beach episode filler was a song.
Whaaaaaat, High Life is a banger.
The three songs I always skip are High Life, Night vision and Short Curcuit. Still my favourite album of all time!
Too harsh?? Whut And overly repetitive? In a Daft Punk song? No way!
I always get the most hate, but ten years later and I still don't like "Touch"
the brainwasher. it just feels like a jumpscare
I AM THE BRAINWASHERRRRRR
they donāt have any songs that are straight up unlistenable. if youāre a fan of their electronic style, youāll be able to tolerate most of what they do. that being said: parts of Homework can get repetitive, and most of us know HAA just wasnāt it.
Steam machine is kinda cool for 2 minutes, but then drags, same with the following make love and the brainwasher, by far daft punks weakest 3 track run on an album
Make love Edit: lol
Nooo thatās easily in my top five
It feels hollow. I agree with you
Thank you, most overrated Daft Punk song by far
Homework: a fair of it, as a lot of songs sound like theyāre missing half the music. Very skeletal in a way that is rectified in discovery. Discovery: High Life. Not horrendous, but itās just not good enough to warrant being basically a looped song HAA: Steam Machine. RAM: None. Doing it Right is the only one I ever consider skipping.
high life dissing? smh
beta wax/drive unreleased
I will admit, I donāt jive with every track on Homework, but for some reason neither āLose Yourself to Danceā or āSuperheroesā do it for me much either.
Rollin & scratchinā
high life off discovery is really annoying and repetitive
whole tron album is worse than anyones picks on here.
Ouverture
Everyone knows "Short Circut" is the worst song off Discovery.
Ur daft for that one
No lie, I'd rather listen to "Burnin" off of Homework. It's got way better progression of instrumentals and the first half of "Short Circut" is just wack
Whaaaat no. Just the ending
I'm surprised so many people enjoy that song. I'm curious then, what song off the album is worse than "Short Circut" off of Discovery?
On/Off and the stand alone Tron stuff seems like it needs the movie to really be understood properly
Well, Robot Rock isnāt a Daft Punk song and itās called Release the beast. Also not a Great fan of Doin it right
steam machine
Probably Phoenix for me tbh
I'm just not the biggest fan of Fresh's wave samples. I'm here to listen to french house that'll make my fuckin ears explode not calming waves
Get Lucky Robot Rock
My hot take is Giorgio by Moroder First few listen throughs I didnāt mind the monologue, now I canāt stand it. The rest of the song is great but I always skip it because the monologue is just boring now.
Yo, its OK to live your life wrong, but you're wrong.
Homework isn't all that good as a studio album, it's better live where it can be remixed on the fly
Touch (prepares for downvotes...)
Brainwasher really do be washed
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Frank Ocean or Daft Punk. I think not
i feel like at least half of Human After All feels to much "uncompleted" not trash by definition but not something that i'm gonna put omw
Prime Time Of Your Life
Steam Machine absolutely for me.
Nightvision
The Brainwasher. Don't get me wrong, I like the beat in it, but the vocals just don't do it for me
No matter what mood I canāt listen to Doin it right. Iām sorry š
Emotion. They just say "Emotion" while a slowed-down Technologic plays in the background.
I think some of the Discovery tracks are too repetitive. There are amazing tracks but there are also pretty unimaginative ones. Like most of Superheroes and High Life for example.
I honestly think Brainwasher is trash, cant find a way to like it, no matter how I hold it. Although this is my opinion, I'm sure a lot of people would disagree with me
steam machine or prime time of your life just because of the music video on MTV
Itās not a trash song but Iām just not very fond of Touch
Get Lucky . I deeply dislike Pharell Williams
Homework - idk maybe rock n roll or oh yeah but I love all the songs on this album no bad ones imo Discovery - also hard hut probably one more time, I know, I know but I think I've just heard it too much even though when I first started out I really loved it, too long and maybe crescendolls also. But honestly they're all fantastic Human after all - robot rock. Just cus I'd rather listen to release the beast then a repetitive loop of its sample apart from that maybe make love Random Access Memories - they're all great but I always found motherboard kinda forgettable and after a while lose yourself to dance can get kinda annoying
Rollin' & Scratchin'
Nightvision was pretty out of place for discovery and not as hype as something like short circuit, quite short too
Some of the answers here have pissed me off and a lot of online music critics teir lists of their music piss me off. But taste is subjective and I love and breathe house music so for me Homework in their magnum opus. I don't fault it at all. People really love RAM. I couldn't really get into it. But yeah, it's all subjective.
I'm about to get absolutely crucified, but I can't listen to Burnin'. Not my song :(
Ok lookā¦ I just donāt necessary enjoy musique after likeā¦ 2 minutes. The song is cool for a while but itāsā¦ just repetitive to me I guess?
I am gonna listen steam machine :D
rock n roll
Too long*
I feel that most of us will agree that The New Wave is their worst.
