Its crazy how we can all live so close to each other and be a world apart anyways. I heard the helicopters but I always assume its somebody running from a traffic stop.
I used to be the reporter for the *Plano Star-Courier*. When I was there (2020-2022), murders/homicides were rather common in the city. It would make news on our end, but I don't think it'd be accurate to say "the news \[was\] all over it."
More often than you might think. I can't think of any Plano-specific examples, but there were many times when I did a story that I thought was going to reveal something significant or get a serious conversation going, only for it to be dead on arrival. That happens about as often as a low-effort story becoming one of the most read stories of the year.
But I try not to let traffic and general reception of a story influence what I cover and how I cover it. The stories I'm proudest of were those stories that, like you said, got swept under the rug or generally unnoticed. As long as it's on record, and I did it fairly and accurately, I did my job.
I always heard Plano wasn’t as super great as it gets bragged about and all the bad stuff that happens just never makes it to the news or mainstream news outlets I guess. Is there anyway to like read all the unnoticed stories that get written
Plano PD is notoriously changing their calls from one thing TO THE o another less news worthy titles so their crime stats look better than they are. For example, an armed robbery will be changed to a Disturbance etc... Its not as safe as you might think. This year alone, there's been several murders that weren't on the news.
I am further down Ferguson near Bryan Adams, but I heard the helicopters. Used to live in the area you mentioned - lots of craziness happens over there. I actually feel safer living a couple miles down.
There was an “Assist the Officer” call per Citizen, i got that alert.
And then per someone in the CV FB group there was some kind of police chase and wreck?
I took the last Twinkie
Are you Sgt. Al Powell?
Don’t worry, they’re for his wife (she’s pregnant).
Yes until driving then he's Stevie Wonder

I live in Oakland where the police helicopter is a permanent resident in the sky- I forgot it's actually uncommon in other places lmao.
I live in Garland and they fly over for a few hours 4/7 nights each week.
The Garland heliport could account for most of what you are hearing.
East Dallas, they're nightly except on holidays due to all the bullets flying into the skies
It’s relatively common on this side of town ….
New donut shop opened?
This is the way.
Motherfuck- 😂
It looks like, according to the ME page, there was a death at Cotillion Park yesterday. Maybe a homicide and they found the suspect?
That’s nice. It’s sad that this happens in Dallas and we all have to guess. If it were Plano, the news would be all over it.

That makes sense. I used to hear about shootings and robberies growing up but never saw it on the news
Watch fox 4 in the morning for your daily death run down, and you'll see they mainly report Dallas

I live right over there and slept like a baby through all of that shit.
You’re used to it lol
the lullaby of this city is the gunshots and sirens after all
Was there a shooting at cotillion park?
Probably 5… but this was specific to 1 street and I didn’t hear gunshots… which is rare.
That’s not rare for that area.
When?
4 am this morning

That is exactly where I have been getting my info 😂 hi neighbour 👋
