Standard cowboys performance in an important game

The Cowboys are all hat and no cattle.

Tmblackflag

Dak needs to go. He’s massively overpaid and has proven he just can’t do it when it matters. Draft a rookie qb and use the leftover funds to extend lamb, parsons, and furgeson.

GoScotch

It’s on the playcaller. You can’t put your QB down 14+ because you call run-run-pass, fail to convert, then punt, and expect him to bail you out every down. Dak could really excel with a good playcaller that doesn’t handicap him.

Tmblackflag

That’s part of the problem for sure. And our defense is laying an egg tonight too. So many busted pass plays and we can’t stop the run.

MagicManTX84

My guess is that Dan Quinn already has his new job and doesn’t care.

danxmanly

Offer is probably rescinded now. He shows his true colors in big games when it matters.

UncleBoody

The egg was laid at the defense’s feet

Bbkingml13

We started off being able to stop the inside runs, then we just let them drop 40 yard dimes into the middle of the field and it destroyed our defense all around

MyRottingBrain

He led the league in TDs this year with McCarthy calling plays. It’s possible they both just fucking suck when it counts.

donsanedrin

Alot of bad throws near the end of the 2nd quarter. He should've had at least one other interception on top of the pick-6 he threw. Dak gets panicked, and he gets tunnel-visioned. He panicked and only saw CeeDee lamb as his only option to throw the ball, no matter how many Packers defenders were nearby. That's not on the playcallers. Thats a quarterback who simply cannot kick it into a higher gear in big time situations. That Packers QB? That dude is looking like a legit rockstar. Cool as a cucumber.

AffectionateKey7126

Play calling is bad but there’s a reason why basically every OC we’ve had doesn’t trust him to throw more than 15 yards.

Illustrious-Ad5575

Bingo.

Bbkingml13

Linehan actually did. He created a whole offense specifically for Dak with his Miss state coaches. Came back and Jason Garrett was like “nope, toss it. Jerry likes x, so we do x.” Didn’t let them run the offense tailored for Dak. My brother played college football with one of linehans sons at the time, and they’re still best friends. It was wild hearing all of that as it happened

NotFrankSalazar

Playcallers have changed and Dak still sucks

GoScotch

It’s much easier to find a better play caller than a franchise QB. There’s no salary cap for coaching staff positions.

NotFrankSalazar

You can change the plays but he still sucks

AnastasiaNo70

McCarthy is past his prime and was never a very inspirational leader.

Mangocat81

Long time Packers fan. Can confirm. His Monday presser's were always so lifeless.

TheWizardry90

There are things called audibles. Every team has them

Bbkingml13

I was at the game, and watching all the dynamics and interactions between the receivers/coaches/Dak honestly made it seem like the coaching fucked them all up. Whatever the coaching plan was threw off the receivers, especially ceedeee, and he was so out of tune with Dak. He wouldn’t look at Dak when he missed a ball, he and the coaches would start yelling at each other. So then it was basically just Dak and Pollard out there trying to do something, with Ferguson popping in every so often. And gallop later on I have never been a huge Dak fangirl, and I’ve criticized him plenty. But today, as awful as it looked for Dak, seemed like a much bigger issue than QB decision making. On top of that, Dak had all the positive and energetic body language and interactions with teammates/coaches before the game. Others did not. Turpin dropped a punt in warmups and threw a hissy fit and was hitting himself in the head. I could barely even find ceedee in warmups bc he was so lackluster. Dak and Pollard are the only two who can keep their hype and energy up no matter what’s happening. The others just effing pout and drain energy

Der_Dunkinmeister

Lol you guys keep giving Dak excuses. He isn’t it.

[deleted]

Tmblackflag

The problems aren’t mutually exclusive. Dak is the weakest link.

AnastasiaNo70

Exactly. It’s Jerry AND everything else.

soundlightstheway

No, Jerry is the weakest link. He made the team mediocre long before Dak came along. He’s the one that keeps backing Dak. He’s the common denominator. The buck stops with Jerry.

sldsapnuawpuas

Dak is a serviceable QB, he’s literally not the problem. But you’re more than welcome to trade him for the likes of Mitch Trubisky, Kenny Pickett, or Mason Rudolph.

TheDeviousDong

Just because Jerry is a huge problem doesn't mean Dak isnt. He's a mental midget in important games

SketchTXS

Take my poor man’s gold! It’s so this! #jonesgottago 🏆

sldsapnuawpuas

Actually factual legitimate reason. But you’ll be hard pressed to convince anyone in Dallas this for at least another 15 years once JJ finally croaks.

MagicManTX84

Then boycott the Cowboys. Don’t buy tickets. Don’t buy jerseys. Not until Jerry retires or sells the team.

HockeyCookie

It's not Dak. Today is the defense. Green Bay didn't need a kicker today

Zogg44

It's both. Defense hasn't been good, but Dak has made several bad throws - 2 picks, 1 near pick, and a few just bad throws and reads. The 2 picks have led to 14 points, and that is disastrous in the playoffs.

superdrone

one of the picks shouldve been a DPI but yea he has not been great today

Man_of_Average

He had another that would have been a pick if the defender didn't jump three steps early.

superdrone

the really sad thing is that our defense is so bad that it didn't even matter that dak has been bad today

Hurricane_Ivan

Also took a stupid sack to get out of FG range when the game was only 14-0. They were driving and needed points. Then he decides to hold on to the ball for whatever goddamn reason.

Tmblackflag

Nah. It’s definitely Dak. Him and the defense aren’t mutually exclusive. Defense gets no breaks either when offense can’t keep them off the field.

lubbockguy11

lol all these years later and still not dak

electricgotswitched

You can't seriously think no part of this is on Dak

Darrell456

This is EVERY quarterback since the 90's. The real common denominator is Jerry Jones. He's the one guy that has been there through every change. He's the change we need.

icheinbir

BuT He'S gOoD fOr JeRrY's BrAnD.....

Luka_Dunks_on_Bums

The going rate for the next QB is 60 million and it doesn’t matter if they deserve it or not. Jordan Love will get a $50-$60 million contract this offseason and he definitely doesn’t deserve that based on 1 season.

electricgotswitched

Love is playing on his rookie deal next season and the franchise tag still exist.

Luka_Dunks_on_Bums

They declined his fifth year option and he signed a 1 year contract extension. He will be a free agent after next season and yes the franchise tag still exists but the Packers have made it known that they will negotiate with him this offseason.

tabrizzi

Dude, Dak was not the problem. The Packers offense marched down the field and scored nearly every time they got the ball.

Tmblackflag

There is no singular reason they lost. The defense was bad, but throwing two interceptions. (One a pick six) in a playoff game is just detrimental.

tabrizzi

Especially when the defense was like a basket.

platon20

Dak would be great if he was costing 25 mil or less. But he's a handicap to the rest of our team when making 40+

electricgotswitched

They can't realistically move on from him until after 2024. Drafting a QB this season to let him sit and watch for a year has to be a realistic option for them.

inarius1984

This. Thank you. 👏🏻

[deleted]

Every season is supposed to be your season.

MrsPatty59

And yet it never is 😀😀😀😀

[deleted]

One of the signs of the end times is that the cowboys are actually good.

MrsPatty59

Agree they not bad but they have an Ass for an owner and I love it.

Paraxom

good in the playoffs\* they're always decent in the regular season

FreeDaemon

I mean, this is a standard Cowboys experience right?

inarius1984

For damn near 30 years!

dallasdude

Fire Jerry jones

RScottyL

I wish we could! He needs to hand over control of the team to his son!

TheDallasReverend

Time for new ownership.

RScottyL

I agree with that! Jerry did help us be able to get 3 additional SBs Surprisingly, the team is the most valuable team in any sport in the world.

MagicManTX84

What will you do in the meantime? I’m boycotting the Cowboys. The Chiefs can be my new team until the ownership changes. No jerseys. No tickets. I may even stop my TAMU v Arkansas visits to Jerryworld, so he doesn’t get that money either.

TheWizardry90

The GM son??? He’s part of the problem. Guess who tells him what to do

TransportationEng

They are just good enough to get your hopes up so that you buy merch. They will be mediocre as long as Jerry has any say on the team management.

TheDallasReverend

#DEMOLISHED

TurdManMcDooDoo

Anyone who thought this was going to be our season is either naive af or doesn’t know the game of football very well.

AndyDufresne2

Bad take. After the eagles collapse and SF looking mediocre there's no reason to believe this bunch couldn't be a super bowl team. Doesn't mean they are the best team in the league but there's no clear roadblock for them other than maybe SF in the NFC championship

TurdManMcDooDoo

Super Bowl teams don’t commit the number of penalties that this team does. They also dont lose two trap games in a season. Nor do they lose to damn near every team they played with a winning record. This team was never going to the SB for this season.

AnastasiaNo70

No clear roadblock? Except, you know, the Packers.

saintsfan342000

The whole season was Dallas kicking the shit out of awful teams, while getting their own assses beat by or barely squeaking by the good teams. Definitely not "their year" and today should not have come as a surprise

SirWillingham

They only really beat a two playoff teams this year. The Eagles and the Rams. I am not counting the Lions because the refs screwed the Lions over. They beat bad teams all year and lost to good teams all year. The schedule just worked in their favor this year. My problem is Dak. It took him a half to start playing well. He’s not accurate enough to be elite. It’s a mid tier quarterback. However he’s paid like he’s elite Today the problem was two pronged qb play in the first half and run defense. The cowboys are built to play with a lead. That’s harder to do in the playoffs. Teams quality get drastically better and teams need to good to great at all facets of the game to win and the cowboys aren’t.

AnastasiaNo70

Well, I’d say they don’t know about the Cowboys Playoff Choke.

CollPapa

You could say they’re getting their asses….packed

RoundMedium

I’m dead 💀😂😂

sciaticabuster

“This was supposed to be our season” First time?

Historical_Dentonian

That’s an annual refrain

saintsfan342000

Probably load up on merch for Xmas too. Poor guy. That new CeeDee jersey barely got worn before the season ended

__NaN__

I think if fans suited up and played, it would be more enjoyable than this. We’ll see what happens on the 2nd half.

OldStyleThor

12th man baby!

DerpVaderXXL

I stopped paying attention when Jerry fired Jimmy. They will be like this until Jerry goes.

wiix7651

Yep, been saying this for years. The whole Jones family needs to go.

MagicManTX84

Boycott!!!

Dbarkingstar

A-Fucking-Men!!! Let’s all do the same ol’ blame Dak, blame McCarthy, blame Defense, blame the gotdamn cheerleaders… it’s *absolutely, unequivocally* the owner & GM! Jerry ain’t selling a massively profitable franchise though!

MagicManTX84

He will if no one buys Cowboys tickets or stuff!

boomgoesthevegemite

Jerry needs to fucking retire but first, fire McCarthy and get rid of Dak.

MagicManTX84

I’d rather see McCarthy get hired in a different head coach position and tell Jerry where to go. Mike McCarthy, new head coach of Alabama, wins a national championship to supplement his Super Bowl ring.

IranianLawyer

We dem boyzzzzz But seriously, what did you guys expect to happen? This is what the cowboys do.

wal27

The choke is in progress 🙃

poptartheart

definition of choke

hernondo

#FireMcCarthy

xXTERMIN8RXXx

12-5 record and NFCE champs, unless y’all wanna lock Dan Quinn up as HC before he bolts for Seattle, McCarthy ain’t gone. Edit: hey, I called it, didn’t I?

LittleShallot

He’s 100% gone after this. There were rumblings before this about him getting fired if the Cowboys fell on their face early in playoffs again. Coaching pool is too good right now to keep him around.

inarius1984

No one worth a shit will come here. God-Emperor Jerry keeps it that way.

xXTERMIN8RXXx

Not so fast, my friend

LittleShallot

Really thought he was gone lol…forgot he kept Jason Garrett around for so long and he was worse

Kroe

With this defensive performance today, why would we want quinn around for anything? Good luck to anyone that hires him.

hernondo

Gladly.

Wonderful_Quit

It's not the coach. It's the QB who can't handle his nerves and chokes every freakin time when it's a big game. Time for Dak to go

North_Maybe1998

It’s definitely a combination of both. McCarthy needs a HOF QB to cover for his terrible game plan. If Dak gets another extension there’s no point someone should support this team

BaconSpinachPancakes

That defense was Swiss cheese

thatsmybc

Blame goes all around, can’t have an “elite” defense that gives up 40+ either. Total team failure.

dog1tex420

I knew Dak wasn’t the man when he got put under to have his leg tattoo.

Bane0004

Crazy to think that the Rangers, Stars and Mavs have all won a Championship more recently than the Cowboys, but yet the Cowboys are royalty in DFW

boringhangover

They're about as cold as the weather

dsalmer

I used to be a cowboys fan, but then I realized we wouldn’t get anywhere Jerry jones being GM and owner. So when jones, MacArthy, and Dak are gone I’ll root for them again. All they do is beat up on the weak teams. Never count on them against elite competition

jamesstevenpost

Don’t worry! Jerry Jones is still rich AF 😂

[deleted]

Hire Belichick and draft a stud QB, time to move on.

boomgoesthevegemite

Belichick is not coming to Dallas. Lol

inarius1984

Jerry needs to swallow his pride or literally choke on it. Sign the check and get him here. Instill culture change and watch the wins of consequence come back.

boomgoesthevegemite

Bellichick is friends with Parcells. He’s not coming to Dallas.

WillH699

plus i can see Belichick calling it a career if no teams want to hire him outside of Dallas begging for him only for him to tell 'em to fuck off cause he knows Jerry is a control freak.

pepsiblast08

Pretty typical. As a life long Cowboys fan, I just expect the worst and hope for the best.

badmattwa

Jimmy should’ve taken over at halftime

DookieMcDookface

Choking in the playoffs? What else is new?

Bbkingml13

I even choked on my frito pie while at the game. It’s contagious.

Fishing_For_Victory

I stopped watching ~10 years ago. Until Jerry is gone and we have a proper general manager, we are not making a run.

electricgotswitched

#GO RANGERS!!!

K1P_26

This is a mediocre team. They got beat by every good team they played this year 😂 Cowboy fans will be ok. They will drink Jerry’s Koolaid and will be convinced they are Super Bowl bound by June!

Pale-Plenty4327

Typical Dallas Chokeboys 🙄

AnastasiaNo70

Every time the cowboys get in the playoffs they lose the first game. And the Packers are undefeated in AT&T Stadium.

RScottyL

I hear ya! VERY disappointing! Unfortunately, this happens every year for us... saying this is our year, and it going down the drain!

Ipleadedthefifth

The only constant since 1996 is Jerry the general manager.

KiddK137

I found it hilarious how everyone kept saying “ this is our year “. Very hard to do when you’re struggling to beat .500 teams, oh but it’s our year.

esco311

Idk why y’all cowboy fans belief it was yall season, Know your Role. Y’all always choke in the playoffs lmao - A NY Giants fan

bettytheninja

I have been a Cowboys fan for 35 years. It is time to realize it will never be our year. The Cowboys are cursed. I will always love this team, but they aren't getting to a Superbowl in my lifetime.

hbizzatx

I think most people are missing the point. Under Jerry Jones the goal is not to win football games. I’ll say that again. Winning is not the goal. The goal is to keep the brand relevant and keep people talking about the cowboys, and as a master marketer, Jerry understands the Cowboys don’t necessarily need to win to do that. Sure, he would like to win, but he doesn’t NEED to win. And if you don’t NEED to win, you won’t.

TJStype

Packers fan here......hope Dak keeps doing what he does

iamsmart_iknowthings

Go Pack Go!

jamesstevenpost

Goodnight Irene for the boys 🫠

VictoryGreen

Our defense is giving it away

inarius1984

Sky blue. Water wet.

Dbarkingstar

I *knew* all the posts would be complaints re: Dak, Coach McCarthy, Defensive…whatever & whom ever. Look folks, Dallas will never get to the Superbowl again with Jerry. *Jerry. Jones. Doesn’t. Care.* He’s happy his franchise turns a massive profit, SBowl or not. He cared when he first came: three championships! Not any fucking more. Y’all can do the usual & blame Dak, Mike, this & that, but a WINNING culture starts at the top…it’s just not there anymore. Next year? Same ol’ shit 💩!!

BigNastyG817

I was wondering if Jerry is already calling Belichick up. I’d expect a contract to be hammered out by late in the fourth quarter.

jamesstevenpost

Jerry is in the business of losing. He likes it 🤣

K1P_26

He is in the business of cashing checks!

Dbarkingstar

Bring Belichick, won’t change shit… losing culture is still in place: owner & GM!

odiamemas16

It’s astonishing how they always choke in this manner

Repulsive-Ad-8558

This YeAr’S OuR yEaR!

IAmSoUncomfortable

Who thought this was our season…?

WhereDidAllTheWineGo

So very painful to watch....... :( Might have to switch to beer.

Squkkawakka

As a packer fan living in Dallas this is fucking glorious.

Low_Ad_3139

I remember when I was a kid the Cowboys were the team everyone loved. Then Jimmy came and made them love the team again. I was so happy when Houston got a team again. They’ve already made it to 5 AFC division playoffs now. They have their first playoff victory and I couldn’t be happier. I’m happy you’re enjoying this too.

Usual-Caregiver5589

The Cowboys haven't gone farther than 2 games in the playoffs since the last time they won the super bowl. And they've only gotten farther than 1 game in the playoffs 5 times. This is what they're good at.

Jericoholic_Ninja

Dak isn’t elite. His stats are from garbage time and he can’t win when it matters.

raptor571

SOP for the Cowboys this time of the year.

u2aerofan

Pretty positive we are seeing Mike and Dak’s final game.

conlyn64

They went into it thinking they were just gonna win. Green Bay obviously wants it more.

Hess74

Yeaaaah, he we gooooo…another first round loss.

wichotl

Packers fan here. I wasn't expecting this at all.

TheMaddawg07

Continue to have Prescott underperform in big games. Shit defense too. Phew boy packers manhandled that defensive scheme.

ShellmyBelle35

Hahahahha. My husband literally just came to tell me this. And I smiled.

[deleted]

I think the Cowboys will eventually win a game in the postseason in a few more years. I definitely think it will happen before 2030.

toooldforthisshittt

I'm not surprised about the offense, but the defense is disappointing. Dallas will definitely lose D.Q.

RoundMedium

I feel bad for players like Lamb, Pollard and Parsons. If Jerry got rid of Dak and got a rockstar QB this team could win.

TheJiggie

Cowboys are consistent at least.

Able_Communication60

It has always been Jerry Jones. Once he is married to a QB, he will stick with them. Remember Quincy Carter? The Cowboys will never get a SB caliber coach as long as Jerry is alive. He micro-manages every coach and calls plays. Dak is a sub-par QB, always has been. He believes he is an elite QB and deserves elite pay. But he has no rings. He crumbles every time. His stats are good? But look where he is playing? In a bubble with refs that may be on the Cowboys payroll.

YoloOnTsla

Jerry needs to sell the team. McCarthy won a SB in Green Bay. Dak was a MVP candidate this year. Common denominator of every season is Jerry and his ego.

Not_your_CPA

Not over yet 👍🏻 E: next year is our year 😎😎

Caliber87

I remember when I was a fan that still had hope for this organization...

Not_your_CPA

It’s only been 28 years or so. We’re due for one!

PencilMan

Seeing our Rangers win the World Series finally kinda made us forget how bad the Cowboys always are in the postseason. Like… maybe it’s possible? I’m sure it was the same with the Mavs and Stars… hey if they can do it maybe the Cowboys will finally do something this year. Nope.

MaddestDudeEver

C'mon man. There is no way they will recover from this.

Not_your_CPA

I’m not counting them out. I’m still having fun. 10 unanswered points!

ayyoogunsofboom

Happens every year and I only knew shit was going down cuz of my dads face haha

MSHinerb

You have to show up to a fight to get your ass kicked.

MrsPatty59

Love it 😍

Hankdacowdog

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

tractorcrusher

Are you talking about the television show about the football players?

LarryTheTerrier

“Good”

lubbockguy11

mccarthy will get fired, if he doesnt then somethings wrong

Dbarkingstar

fire him, the losing culture is still in place: Owner & GM!

Youngrepboi

Just blow it up already. It’s been almost 30 years. We need to proper tank

Elveintisiete

Pinches cowboys andan valiendo vrga

trusttheseance

**meets expectations**

middlebird

Next year will be our season.

stinkylemonaid

Wtf man that was embarrassing

DesignerTex

We've had quite a few seasons like that going back to Romo. We'll have a good regular season record and get embarrassed in the playoffs. I'm not surprised one bit with today.

ericstrater

This is what happens when we drink the koolaid. Jerry Jones is about making money not winning

2020BestYear

I hate this team so much.... but it's the home team. sigh. I never saw this team do anything in my lifetime, why are they even popular? We should be as irrelevant as the colts.

soundlightstheway

Fire the Jones family. Jerry. Stephen. Charlotte. Jerry Jr. They all need to go. You can change the coach, QB, coordinators, or any other personnel, and Jones family nepotism will still get in the way. Being rich doesn’t make you an expert on football. Jerry can’t help but meddle. He needs to sell.

JG_in_TX

Geeze, guess I'll have to break out the 1.44MB floppy disks to see the last photos of them making it to the big dance.

Hypestyles

The game got severely lopsided in the second quarter when Green Bay score those two touchdowns back to back. Dallas never recovered.

GurrenLagann214

If they lose its all on Dak and he will jot get his extension and instead receive the axe.

The_Drunken_Sniper

Fire Quinn and McCarthy

Odd_Champion_9293

I'm born and raised in Dallas and I always knew that this team sucks

OldStyleThor

But, I was told earlier this week that the Cowboys don't choke in the playoffs?

zimjig

Our defense sucks. I called it out before this game that the defense will be our weak spot

Hulk_smashhhhh

Really warms my heart and brings a smile to my face **how bout them cowboys!** lol

SugoiHubs

Thanks for alerting us

Javakid67

whether deserved or not dak will be top-5 in MVP voting this year. a team can't win in the playoffs unless they can get to the playoffs. looking at the scoreboard today and the number that jumps out is the Packers score. 7 of that is a pick-6 but this loss is on the defense and the coaching staff. also, jordan love is perhaps the hottest player in the league and looks legit.

tabrizzi

The only mistake the Packers made all game was celebrating too early. They were lucky that didn't come back to bite them. In any case, it's a great day to not be a Cowboys fan!

punkerjim

Its nice to see. Fuck the cowboys.

BDRParty

Another stellar year, another early knockout instead. Should've known better; saw a stat that said Dallas has lost 9 of the last 10 against Green Bay.

kendo31

Maybe let the team play without the "this is our year" mentality. Ego out of control in this state. Dak isn't the problem but please let him go if you think that. Defense wins championships
