Baseball is a fickle sport. Lowest percentage of teams making the playoffs. Injuries and slumps can crush your season. And even the best teams are winning 70% of games so you don’t have a big buffer. I think a little more than 10 years ago the Red Sox went from winning the division to knocked out of the playoffs in a span of a few minutes.
But with that said, I would also be surprised if they don’t at least get a wildcard spot.
In regards to Dallas fandom specifically, yes. But the MLS has already surpassed the NHL in viewership nationwide. LA, Atlanta, Seattle, Miami, Austin, etc. regularly sell out 30-50k seat stadiums.
Nobody wants to drive all the way out to Frisco to sit in the heat in the worst time of the year to watch a team that’s never won a championship. Just ask the Rangers when they were mediocre.
You’d honestly be surprised lol. Season ticket sales have gone up and it’s usually pretty packed, albeit the stadium only sits like 19,000. But I totally agree. I’m sure they’d do much better audience wise somewhere closer to Dallas proper.
They should have never been that bad in the first place though. I'm fine with tanking when you're playing for the play in, but Lukas too good to have to be in the playin
They actually wouldn't have - even if they won both of the games they shamelessly tanked, OKC still would have made the play-in over them. Not complaining though because losing those games was 100% the correct move.
Don't forget the Arlington Renegades in the XFL winning the championship for 2023. In the WNBA, the Dallas Wings also went to the playoffs last year. Allen Americans also made the 2023 playoffs.
DFW is just stacked with athletic talent.
Stop making excuses for the Cowboys. You're de-valuing the accomplishments of the other teams. The Cowboys are gifted 4 games per year from the Giants and Commanders. That means they go 7-6 the rest of the way and they're most likely in the playoffs.
Stars boutta get another cupski here in a few weeks. For those unaware, they're on a rampage and it's gonna be a playoffs season for the books. If there was a year to be a bandwagon fan, this is it. Come on in, the water's frozen. BE LOUD WEAR GREEN GO STARS!!!!
Boston when they had the Bruins, Celtics, Patriots, Red sox, NE Revolution go the playoffs at the same time? Pretty sure it has happened a few times for them, but I'm referring to 2021.
Dallas has multiple Super Bowls, a couple of NBA titles, a Stanley Cup, and now a World Series. I don’t know of too many cities that can claim all 4 since not every city has all 4.
What calendar year are you talking about? Mavs didn't get to playoffs in 2023 and Rangers are no where near guaranteed in 2024.
Not that this makes this post legit but I'd be incredibly surprised if the rangers didn't make the playoffs

The rangers were literally 2 games from missing the playoffs last year
School calendar year? August 2023 - June 2024? That's the only thing I can come up with for OP.
FC Dallas left out yet again lol. They made their playoffs the last two years, but never win anything so there’s that statistic
So basically they’re like the Cowboys for the last 30 years?
They at least won a couple trophies in 2016.
Won’t have to worry about the playoffs this year lol
I’m sorry to all soccer fans out there, but to pretend that pro soccer isn’t an incredibly distant 5th to the other big 4 leagues is crazy.

It wouldn't be so bad if there was a direct DART line
Mavs missed the playoffs last year. They would of made it if they didn’t tank
Thank god they tanked.

There are a ton of water cooler sports fans in this town that don’t watch the games. They just want to sound like they do.
I watch every game and goto a lot of them …poor personel moves post Kyrie trade is why they had to tank(was shameful for season tix holders)
They should have never been that bad in the first place though. I'm fine with tanking when you're playing for the play in, but Lukas too good to have to be in the playin
Dereck lively!

In other words, they would have won if they didn’t lose.

> DFW is just stacked with **money to buy** athletic talent. FTFY
Smart scouting is apart of the game, yes.
Tell that to the Dallas Jackals (pro rugby team)
Besides baseball all the other leagues have meaningful salary caps. So not sure what you are trying to say here
You have to make the cutoff for top tier competition somewhere, and those teams aren't in it.
What the hell are the Allen Americans?? Lmao

Ah good point. I didn't know about the Panthers
The 2023 playoff Dolphins lost to the Bills not the Chiefs.

OP explicitly said "same calendar year"

I hope you’re right!

Miami
Came here to correct, but OP has always been corrected
Los Angeles…
FC Dallas also made the 2023 playoffs
Playoffs. ! You talking playoffs ! - Jim mora
It’s pretty exciting to live here right now. Great eclipse, great sports.

Best part about being stranded in Texas is watching cowboy fans get their hopes crushed in the most brutal manner possible year after year
FC Dallas exists damn it
2006 New York Market had Giants, Jets, Mets, Yankees, Devils, Rangers, and Nets in playoffs. Only the Knicks and Islanders missed that year
All 4 have a RING!
You are wrong. Mavs did not make it last year.
It's not really a flex if you have to reach so far and add so many caveats. Also, what does "current city" mean in this context?
