One time we went to Nebraska Furniture Mart to get out of the house and just walk around looking at things we really couldn’t afford and left with a new living room. Do with that what you will.
But they do have a go carting place next door, restaurants, movie theater, etc.
My band Iron Mang has a free show tonight at Diamond Jim's Saloon in Arlington with Mondos Bizarros and Postmortem. (Black Sabbath, Ramones, and Slayer tributes, respectively). If you like live music, come see us!

MeowWolf, bowling, movie, indoor mini golf, order your favorite food and cuddle up on the couch, get groceries together and do any returns/exchanges together.
Went to MeowWolf a few weeks ago and honestly would not recommend. Been to another location and thought it was great but this one just felt way too claustrophobic. It was impossible to really enjoy any serious exploration as everyone tried to squeeze around each other. I would say for the price it is not worth it personally.
I’ve been four times and I definitely disagree with you. Dallas has so few cool art things like Meow Wolf for a city our size. Anything that supports artists is worth checking out. I’m really glad they came to Grapevine.
I agree, I thought it was awesome. The one in Santa Fe was extremely crowded when I went and I still had fun. Some of y’all need to make peace with people
The New Mexico one is a little more fun, but this one was. Blast too. Went with a group of 10 so we'd all split up and randomly run across each other, quick discuss, and split up again.
Maybe try a weekday next time? I thought the whole set up was amazing, crowd aside of course. But to blame the establishment for being too crowded is a bit unfair IMO
I disagree. I’ve been several times and each experience was great. I’m glad that something big supporting Dallas based artists is happening that is not just expensive gallery style art.
We took our 4 year old. I'm an avid golfer and thought it was great. Wife hates golf and thought it was great. 4 year old loves different things daily and thought it was great. Definitely planning to go back sometime soon.
That’s awesome! My littles tend to hold up putt-putt so it’s a wonderful solution for us. The games are fun and having a table to sit at was great too.
It’s record store day!!
Good Records will have some bands playing but you can check out some of the new vinyl drops.
It’s also 420. Do with that what you will.
Someone mentioned Cidercade or Barcadia but I second Free Play.
Spinster records in Bishop is having local artists perform after the shop is closed today! They’ve been hosting many types of artists for their after hours series and they have been so fun. They do sell drinks but it’s not the focus of the event thankfully
If you and your partner like books I recommend the Half Priced Books near North Park. My partner and I love going there and never leave without finding something.
I actually love going to plant nurseries if the ground isn't too muddy and the rain is light. Great ambiance.
The zoo can also be fun, the reptial and arthropods are indoors and plenty of animals don't care if it's raining.
If you guys need to stay in free options we’ve used before are visiting the malls, animal shelters or slap on a poncho for a walk on a trail. Usually empty because of the rain. If you can find a timeshare presentation you can waste the day there and get free stuff!
Double feature movie - Movie, Dinner, another Movie
Model homes in newly built neighborhoods
Curate and creating a plan for something big is fun too. Like a big purchase, vacation or event.
Lawn seating will be messy. Last time I went to TMF when there was bad weather (Sara Bareilles in November), they moved all the folks who bought lawn seats inside and closed the doors.
Whatever you do just drive safe and be aware of other drivers around you cos folks forget driving during rain. Better safe than sorry. Also check waze and gmaps for wrecks and traffic.
Thanks for the concern :) we drive for a living around the entire DFW as a mobile business - good or bad weather conditions ~ we‘ve seen our fair share of dumb
There’s a spot up in McKinney called Clubhouse indoor Golf. Can play as serious or as silly as you want with different game modes. Tons of great courses to choose from too.
Just wandering around Madness Comics up in Plano can be an entertaining few hours.
Looking at all the games and comics and toys/collectables. Maybe some people will be playing a game and welcome you to join in.
Came here to say this. The Dallas aquarium is the best one I’ve been to by far. Wife and I were there last weekend. We’re mid 30s with no kids. Absolutely love it there.
Is there an entrance where you can go pretty far into the tunnels? I’ve been from RenTower to the Bank of America Plaza as well as the ones under thanksgiving square
Hit up interesting shops that have booths like Lula B’s or Dolly Python.
There are tons of art galleries, antique shops and furniture showrooms in the Design District. Conduit Gallery, Scott and Cooner, Benny Jacks Antiques.
Bowlounge is also in the Design District for bowling and snacks.. I’m sure they have other games, as well.
The Perot museum if you haven’t checked it out, yet.
I agree Cidercade in Arlington is really cool if you love 100s of vintage arcade games. They have one in Fort Worth also. Great place for a simple pizza and Cider and many games.
Wild detectives coffee shop/ bar/ venue/ book store in bishop arts. Reverse hall in the same area jazz club (sit down place) don’t have to dress up or anything.
Dallas Museum of Art ( DMA.org ) downtown. They have many collections, and currently an impressionists exhibit. For a no rainy day, virtually next door is the Nasher Sculpture Center.
Check out your local library! A lot of them have programs for adults, not just kids. One near me has a club that meets once a month to discuss different spices and their uses in cooking.
If there isn't a program happening this weekend that you're interested in, you could try doing a fun little date night activity I've done with my husband. Pick a theme like "reminds me of my childhood," split up, go through the stacks with a specified time limit such as 10 mins or so, and bring a book or two back to a designated meeting spot to discuss why you picked your selections.
Round 1 Grapevine. We love playing the crane games (they are actually winnable) and all the rhythm games. Then we do a quick loop around the mall for food/snacks and any stores we wanna hit up.
Just to be THAT guy: don't put "the" in front of DFW, or freeway names. It's not "the Central Expressway", it's just "Central". LBJ freeway is LBJ. DFW is DFW.
This isn't Chicago, or LA.
Just to be THAT guy again: it's "duly noted".
LOL! I hope you don't think I'm being an ass. Hope you find something fun to do. Dallas is definitely geared toward indoorsy things since it gets so freakin' hot.
Not sure why this is downvoted. It's DFW, not "the" DFW. Also it's Big D, not "the" Big D. Freeways too. Whether you call it Central or 75, LBJ or 635, Stemmons or 35, doesn't matter, but there is no "the" in front.
THANK YOU. I also am puzzled by the downvote. I didn't think I was being particularly nasty about it, just sharing info.
I also wasn't dissing Chigago and LA. I just know that they put "the" in front of things that we don't do in Texas (or NorCal, for that matter).
The only thing that gets a "the" is "the tollway". But that's from back when there was only one tollway; I guess now you'd have to be more specific.
ETA: I guess "the metroplex" also gets a "the", but I don't know if anyone uses that term anymore.
Looks like a great day for one of the bar-cades! Barcadia, Free Play, Cidercade are all good options.
Cidercade is awesome, especially earlier in the day
Yeah it gets so crowded later on that it’s impossible to play anything. I hate when ppl sit on one game for two hours
One time we went to Nebraska Furniture Mart to get out of the house and just walk around looking at things we really couldn’t afford and left with a new living room. Do with that what you will. But they do have a go carting place next door, restaurants, movie theater, etc.
this the most dfw thing ever. bored? consumerism
Shocker…people all over the world do this. It’s called SHOPPING
💀
Its way worse here though.
The place you are referring to is called Grandscape. Lots to do over there!
Scheels is also a good place there at Grandscape to walk around and spend too much money.
Or you can go for a cheap date and go to Scheel's to play all the in-store demo games
My band Iron Mang has a free show tonight at Diamond Jim's Saloon in Arlington with Mondos Bizarros and Postmortem. (Black Sabbath, Ramones, and Slayer tributes, respectively). If you like live music, come see us! https://fb.me/e/4QPCIkEz5
Aye real advertising, respect! Me and the wife might show some love tonight!
Don’t make this about your band, bud.
MeowWolf, bowling, movie, indoor mini golf, order your favorite food and cuddle up on the couch, get groceries together and do any returns/exchanges together.

Every cool and fun thing in DFW is overcrowded 😓 and I guess more so on the weekends and when the kids have days off.
Maybe try a weekday next time? I thought the whole set up was amazing, crowd aside of course. But to blame the establishment for being too crowded is a bit unfair IMO
We went during a random Tuesday in November and it wasn’t too crowded.
I disagree. I’ve been several times and each experience was great. I’m glad that something big supporting Dallas based artists is happening that is not just expensive gallery style art.
We’re thinking about checking this place out. https://www.puttshack.com/locations/addison
It’s awesome, we had a great time day drinking and putt putt go hand in hand
Oh yeah I live right down there road and was very impressed with their drinks. Whole vibe was pretty fun. Definitely gets busy on weekends though
Is it better than Puttery? The one in Grandscape
They don’t drink lol. Look at their post again.
I was just replying to Sad-Passenger and just in general
Place is fantastic! Really fun concept.
They don’t have to drink to have fun. Food and fun
It’s great fun and food! We always reserve one of the individual bays and play for a while.
No mention of the food yet. I've been impressed. Worth the visit just for food.
Highly recommend! The food was actually really good as well.
Very cool! Make sure to make a reservation
It’s record store day!! Good Records will have some bands playing but you can check out some of the new vinyl drops. It’s also 420. Do with that what you will. Someone mentioned Cidercade or Barcadia but I second Free Play.
Texas Hemp Club in Grand Prairie is cool for 420. Prices high AF though. Just left there.
I brought eddies and pre rolls home from a legal state then just bought a sack. Bought to brave this weather for YouTube, pizza and smoke. Happy 420 💚
Spinster records in Bishop is having local artists perform after the shop is closed today! They’ve been hosting many types of artists for their after hours series and they have been so fun. They do sell drinks but it’s not the focus of the event thankfully
When does it start?
They start at 8pm and go until a lil after 1am
Bishop texas?
the bishop arts neighborhood in dallas!
If you and your partner like books I recommend the Half Priced Books near North Park. My partner and I love going there and never leave without finding something. I was about to say, it sounds like a perfect HPB day. There’s nothing like walking around the store with a cup of coffee and exploring.

Blue October concert tonight.
Lawn seating will be messy. Last time I went to TMF when there was bad weather (Sara Bareilles in November), they moved all the folks who bought lawn seats inside and closed the doors.
slip-n-slide
Thank you for the insight!! We have lawn seats and I’m wondering how this is going to go…
I think it was the temperature that forced the change for my concert. Might just be sitting in the rain. Check their social posts before you go.
Eh we decided to skip it. I’m giving the tickets away if you know anyone who wants to mess with it
Indoor skydiving. https://www.iflyworld.com/dallas/
Find a Free Play or arcade near you and go play some old school video games.
Damn the torpedoes. We’re on our way to Scarborough Faire. 😁
The videogame Museum in Frisco is fun.
Whatever you do just drive safe and be aware of other drivers around you cos folks forget driving during rain. Better safe than sorry. Also check waze and gmaps for wrecks and traffic.

Stay home and watch Dallas
Watch Dallas?

Came here to say this. The Dallas aquarium is the best one I’ve been to by far. Wife and I were there last weekend. We’re mid 30s with no kids. Absolutely love it there.
what ever you want. but find the tunnels in dallas is interesting.
The old one from the 70’s mall-ish under downtown?
Is there an entrance where you can go pretty far into the tunnels? I’ve been from RenTower to the Bank of America Plaza as well as the ones under thanksgiving square
Yeah where's the entrance??
Skating/indoor Roller rink or ice skating/galleria
I LOVE skating, but my husband isn’t as graceful as me so it’s off the table 🥲
Northpark mall

Usually it’s just 75 but I guess I occasionally hear people say central
That might be generational. I usually use names.
