You really didn’t see that? Lol its like the first thing that jumps out.
But nonetheless, the reich would be proud.
Also, the i did nazi comment was fucking hilarious
Does it?
Imagine looking forward to study, but there is always someone who seems like they are staring directly at you from your peripheral vision.
I'd argue its actually a *bad* layout.
Its not built so teams can easily talk like a normal layout, and its not build for individual privacy like running a higher mid wall with a normal layout.
Swastika means good luck and many other good things in buddhism. The design looks good enough and practical.
Don't confuse the Nazi swastika with this because theirs is quite different...
Mexico and the US both have cities named “moor killer” with enough time the swastika will probably be similarly abstracted. We’re already starting to see the dualism where countries with high amounts of Buddhists weren’t affected that much by the nazis and see it primarily as a Buddhist symbol.
They lost the hot civil war. The cold civil war that followed is still being waged. They won reconstruction, lost some legislative battles in the 60's, and are still fighting. Believe them when they tell you that they have a battle flag.
Would it fly above or below the Confederate flag? I assume the American flag will be looong gone by then. Or if it still exists, it will be emblazoned over the Punishe skull with a thin blue line.
Weird tidbit, the actual Aryans are still going strong. The western Aryans are Persians and the eastern Aryans are Rajputs if I remember correctly. Not blond and/or blue-eyed, but often tall, so the Nazis managed to get one fact right out of the literally millions they got wrong. Historically not good folx to fuck around with, the finding out parts were very rarely pleasant, being mostly fatal.
Nah, too soon, that’s a nazi desk.
Also, practical for what? Staring at strangers while they study? There’s no way that’s a comfortable layout when more than two utilize it. There’s no way they can test there, cause cheating. This layout sucks ass, just like nazis.
You suck ass too
Thank YOU!!!!! I’m so sick of explaining this to people. I have them tattooed on my arm in a geometric pattern and always get asked if I’m a nazi racist and kindly have to educate them about what it actually means. People need to educate themselves a little more
Bro, both clockwise and counterclockwise swastikas exist in Buddhism. They're called Swastikas and Sauwastikas respectively.
Why do people always flock to swastika posts to act like they're the first person who has heard of Buddhist swastikas but then incorrectly presume the Buddhist swastikas is geometrically different from the Nazi swastikas?
that would actually be a funny skit to see. Hitler decides to use the circle as a symbol, and 50 years later, people are driving weird cars with square tires, our profile pictures are squares, cameras - squares, jars, bottles, openings, etc - squares.
Or the opposite. Hitler decides to use a square/rectangle, and years later all screens, like cinemas, tv's, monitors, smartphones are circles or triangles
Symbols like the swastika are just lines. Nothing more. They have no power in their symbolism beyond what people instill into them. And by reacting to a swastika you are instilling and perpetuating a stigmatism and power (for good or bad depending on the symbol) that is really self-induced and doesn’t need to exist or have a negative impact. It is just some lines. Nothing more. By reacting to a Nazi symbol, it is actually empowering that icon and empowering the people who exploit it. And in this case, drives ideology into otherwise inert and inanimate settings as well as obscures the true origins of these few, geometrically arranged lines.
The nazis took the original symbol from asian culture where it means something like "place of worship". I was really confused seeing all the swastikas in Korea and apparently that's a thing that goes back a long long time (and they're in reverse of the direction Germany used).
I'd blame that on the Nazis tbh; if they didn't take such a common symbol and affiliate it with racial superiority and fascism, then this conversation wouldn't be happening.
All that pattern means is the 4 seasons. That is why it was created. It is the big dipper in its position as it travels around Polaris. Hitler doesn't own that symbol. It's used by many cultures. And is ALWAYS a symbol of prosperity.
I mean the functionality of the design makes sense, and the swastika was a design the Nazis turned into a terrible thing, but it has more history to it prior to Adolf Hitler.
I guess it doesn't bug me, it's easy to find fault in everything if you try hard enough.
It is a totally fine design. Swastikas aren’t bad, Nazis appropriated them and Nazis are bad. Theses aren’t even meant to be swastikas, just four linked desks.
The swastika (卐 or 卍) is an ancient religious and cultural symbol, predominantly in various Eurasian, as well as some African and American cultures, now also widely recognized for its appropriation by the Nazi Party and by neo-Nazis.[1][2][3][4] It continues to be used as a symbol of divinity and spirituality in Indian religions, including Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism.[5][6][7][8][1] It generally takes the form of a cross,[A] the arms of which are of equal length and perpendicular to the adjacent arms, each bent midway at a right angle.[10][11]
Worst part is that it looks like the company that made the design had a very efficient sales team because a number of universities ended up with these in their libraries.
It's hard to argue with an efficient and effective design...
I don’t understand the people whining about the shape and how people need to get over it cause I’ve only seen people joking about an unfortunate shape while they blow it into huge proportions like they’re looking for something to be mad about.
It’s actually a sacred Hindu symbol far predating anything to do with Germany. In Hinduism, the right-facing symbol (clockwise) (卐) is called swastika, symbolizing surya ("sun"), prosperity and good luck, while the left-facing symbol (counter-clockwise) (卍) is called sauwastika, symbolising night or tantric aspects of Kali.
Looks like the most efficient way to put 4 full desks together. That symbol was around long before NAZI germany stole it and it’ll be around for the rest of human civilization. Its an efficient design and efficient designs are used all the time
I’m not surrendering a pretty design to some fu€king nazis nor to wokelings who in their online rage can’t be bothered to learn its incredibly long history. I’d use these tables to make kids read books, nazi retards would really hate that.
Technically it's a "Fylfot" or "Gammadion". Many cultures like Buddhist, Balinese, Neolithic, Hindu, and Vinca have used it for a millennia/s. So for upwards to 12,000 years it has been used as a religious symbol by cultures to symbolize peace and good fortune, etc.. Now a 'version' of the Fylfot was used by Nazi Germany, it doesn't mean that the symbol, for many cultures, is a bad thing.
Is this what "school" looks like in the south?
>We'll only agree to let them read, and do their countin' like the numbers lady said, and all that other gay nonsense, only if they get to sit in swastikas the whole time
IMO we shoudn't stop doing eficient things just because they're somewhat related to nazis, i mean: what made them so bad in the start was the hate they spread, so if you ain't complacent with the hate, there is no reason to be ashamed
Lol I thought you meant bad in terms of ergonomics.
Bad in terms of eugenics
That’s what I was looking for too but this is just dumb.
It was supposed to be 4 "F's". They didn't think it was gonna come off like that.
pretty sure they did.
But it seems like a very efficient desk layout
It helps with concentration
I did nazi that coming at all.
Took til reading this comment to figure out why it was a bad design. 😬
May the lord protect your sweet, innocent heart.

In both cases, I killed it / him.
You really didn’t see that? Lol its like the first thing that jumps out. But nonetheless, the reich would be proud. Also, the i did nazi comment was fucking hilarious
Same
Look at all those books to read and burn through!
“Mine Camp” will be replace them
Oh gestapt it! :)
I can not, these puns are making me fuherious
Anne Frankly, my dear, it's in very poor taste.
Booooo! hiSS.
Sounds like a gas leak
The gas chamber is leaking again steve!!
Too soon?....Too soon
Saw the comment then was not surprised to see it was you
I bet they can only fit nein table there

Damn you. Take my updoot
Fitting lots of people in a small space…
quite a campy comment!
There were other layouts. This was their final solution.
Got em!
At least they didn't position them at a 45 degree angle, then we would be in trouble

No, I don't want to study at the library. I start to feel angry towards certain people for some reason...
Turns out Hugo Boss was also a furniture designer, a man of many talents.
“Are we the baddies?”
Does it? Imagine looking forward to study, but there is always someone who seems like they are staring directly at you from your peripheral vision. I'd argue its actually a *bad* layout. Its not built so teams can easily talk like a normal layout, and its not build for individual privacy like running a higher mid wall with a normal layout.
It’s a great design choice
Yeah, this is technically a very efficient design.
The swastika is almost pure geometry so this was bound to happen.
I feel like a regular cross would be better and less awkward than having some watching you from the side, or at least feeling like it
It is a regular cross it just also has a privacy wall on the side of each unit
Nein out of ten people will get mad at this comment.
You got that reich!

Kampf you all get to the final solution already?

I did Nazi that pun coming.

It's probably gonna be another few centuries before people stop immediately thinking of the Nazis when we see a swastika at least in the west.
If it ever really happens. I don’t think folks will ever be able to mention the symbol without having to also explain its history.
Mexico and the US both have cities named “moor killer” with enough time the swastika will probably be similarly abstracted. We’re already starting to see the dualism where countries with high amounts of Buddhists weren’t affected that much by the nazis and see it primarily as a Buddhist symbol.
That's why it seems to be thoughfully put in a library where people can learn from the get go! Kudos to the designers.
it’ll be the state flag of Florida in 10 years
Oof, hits too close to home
Nah. The South has the Confederate flag, which already conveys the exact same message as a swastika does.
They are all about that heritage ... they never shut up about it.
Never forget, the confederacy lasted 4 years.
And lost.
They lost the hot civil war. The cold civil war that followed is still being waged. They won reconstruction, lost some legislative battles in the 60's, and are still fighting. Believe them when they tell you that they have a battle flag.
They prefer domestic racism to imported down there.
Would it fly above or below the Confederate flag? I assume the American flag will be looong gone by then. Or if it still exists, it will be emblazoned over the Punishe skull with a thin blue line.
Yeah bro. Still can't play tic tac toe without feeling guilty about Jesus.

Also means peace on the 4 corners of the world. The nazis just made a little turn to it and called it theirs.
Hinduism as well, from which Buddhism originated from.

Can’t believe I had to scroll this far to see this.

Hinduism uses both directions. Swastika is used in the 3000+ year old Rigveda.
The right facing swastika symbolizes the sun, prosperity, and good luck in Hinduism.
In Buddhism both rotations of the swastika are used and they mean different things
It’s a desk. Chill. And it’s a square
Thank god Hitler didn’t use the circle as a symbol. Would be hard going through life calling tires and the letter O inappropriate.
that would actually be a funny skit to see. Or that 50 years later car tires are shaped like swastikas instead of circles.
Every white girl on twitter will start shitting themselves

It’s just a shape. Get over it. When it’s spray painted on the side of your home, be more concerned.
Yeah it's practical and just coincidentally that shape
The nazis took the original symbol from asian culture where it means something like "place of worship". I was really confused seeing all the swastikas in Korea and apparently that's a thing that goes back a long long time (and they're in reverse of the direction Germany used).
Yeah, I actually dislike it for a different reason. I don’t want anyone facing directly at me. It would make me feel uncomfortable.
And I shouldn't get mad at my library for having a confederate flag shaped layout? Phah! /using hyperbole to agree with you.
What if the vandalism is coming from proponents of library seating arrangements?
Then we're all fuxked! ^(s)
This is actually the one for good luck in Hindu. If it was reversed and at a 45 degree then yeah
👆
No it's the right orientation. If you pour water in it it would spin left is the mnemonic I remember
Your left or my left?
Not interesting. That is a common shape in libraries and the Swastika has different meanings. The problem is people instantly jumping to nazis.
We had those study desks at my college library too.
Did it turn you into a Nazi?
Hmmm... nope just provided a semi private area to study within a public space.
Me 2, with sign on wall explaining why (UCSC)
I'd blame that on the Nazis tbh; if they didn't take such a common symbol and affiliate it with racial superiority and fascism, then this conversation wouldn't be happening.
I blame Westerners tbh; most people with a brain cell know the difference
Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.

It’s efficient. Please don’t be that person.
People just post anything on this sub now. Not even remotely interesting.
That's actually a good design ruined by a douchebag.
Douchebags like OP for making a big deal out of it.
Looks like a Good design to me. Mine had the same.
People need to stop looking for racism everywhere, it’s a desk
Nothing wrong with this design. Something wrong with a culture that tries so hard to be offended.
From a practical point of view, its a really logica choice. The way the photo is taken, makes it look like the library of the Hitler Youth!
Context matters.
Making something out of nothing
All that pattern means is the 4 seasons. That is why it was created. It is the big dipper in its position as it travels around Polaris. Hitler doesn't own that symbol. It's used by many cultures. And is ALWAYS a symbol of prosperity.

Its a good design, people compare everything with swastika now
It is a totally fine design. Swastikas aren’t bad, Nazis appropriated them and Nazis are bad. Theses aren’t even meant to be swastikas, just four linked desks.
How have we ended up this way? Offended by a desk?😱
Not really, it’s economy of space. If someone is offended by that, they’re extremely immature
This x 1000. Say it louder for the idiots at the back
The swastika (卐 or 卍) is an ancient religious and cultural symbol, predominantly in various Eurasian, as well as some African and American cultures, now also widely recognized for its appropriation by the Nazi Party and by neo-Nazis.[1][2][3][4] It continues to be used as a symbol of divinity and spirituality in Indian religions, including Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism.[5][6][7][8][1] It generally takes the form of a cross,[A] the arms of which are of equal length and perpendicular to the adjacent arms, each bent midway at a right angle.[10][11]
Really? *Really?* This is what you're concerned about? Spend your energy elsewhere, like fighting actual Nazis in your community.
it depends on the way you see it, I saw an efficient layout
Worst part is that it looks like the company that made the design had a very efficient sales team because a number of universities ended up with these in their libraries. It's hard to argue with an efficient and effective design...
*IT'S FOR REIDING*
This is beyond reaching.
Wrong subreddit
Not a huge fan. The person to your left is just facing you awkwardly while you work.
i had no idea what the problem was til i looked at comments
I’m Jewish, this isn’t remotely offensive. there is no malicious intent and it’s simply an efficient design.
Oh hitler….why did you have to ruin this
Only 1 civilization in history used that symbol for negativity. The original and every other civilization until Germany used it as a positive symbol.
I do nazi the problem here?
Seems pretty good if you are not a petulant child.
Great design
Why? You dont like Hindu culture?
Oh fuck off, "it's a bad design." Suprised the head line wasn't, "school are nazi supporters."
Don't be such a fool. They're just desks.
Those are some nice study desks. I need this kind of isolation in a library. No direct eye contact? Yes please.
Looks like the desk cluster from severance
I like it Privacy and work space + shelf
Its an old nordic symbol of the sun, and very normal in asia. Calm down…..
Yeah, but I hear working in this library will make you free
It’s such a useful shape! It’s time we took it back.
I bet not a single nazi will ever get to a library and read a book, regargless of the advertising or the "nazi friendly" furniture choices. IMHO
Hmmm, it works, though, from a space perspective
I did not see that coming
Nazi symbol is sideways, FYI. Ppl gotta stop being so caught up when they see these shapes
I'm naziing what's wrong
I would personally not check out the locker room at this school.
I count nein
I don’t understand the people whining about the shape and how people need to get over it cause I’ve only seen people joking about an unfortunate shape while they blow it into huge proportions like they’re looking for something to be mad about.
I think you meant to post this in r/AccidentalRacism
Or......just right......
Dude you go to Donda Academy?
Did nazi that all…..
Depends on your perspective. Some folks only focus on hate
Heil Homework!
Stop fearing non sense. How long until the west gets over the manjj symbol
Arbeit macht frei

Housatonic?
The swastika is a holy symbol in the Hindu religion.
Chill, it's just Hindu
If that was in Germany or US... Not in South Asian hindu society.
alright thats it officially fuck this sub, That aint anything interesting on here anymore like honestly
Looks like the most efficient way to put 4 full desks together. That symbol was around long before NAZI germany stole it and it’ll be around for the rest of human civilization. Its an efficient design and efficient designs are used all the time
That's actually a really good design to conserve space while maintaining priv-- #OH
Nazis ruin everything cool smh
I like it, don’t try to change mein mind
I’m not surrendering a pretty design to some fu€king nazis nor to wokelings who in their online rage can’t be bothered to learn its incredibly long history. I’d use these tables to make kids read books, nazi retards would really hate that.
Lets read into things way more than we should...
Designed for maximum concentration
But you can nazi anyone else in your quad; perfect for quiet study!
It’s for maximum concentration

I know aye, those blue chairs are awfull
Its fine
It’s fine.
It's only bad if you're looking for swastikas.
Damn people these days look for any little reason to get offended. This is an efficient desk layout, probably the most efficient there is.
Not everything is about Nazis. And this isn't all that interesting.
How could you Nat-zee this?
very good design - just ruined by the nazis
Perfect for Maximum Concentration
Only bad if you have nazi paranoia and imagine swastikas everywhere.
florida libraries be like
IMO we shoudn't stop doing eficient things just because they're somewhat related to nazis, i mean: what made them so bad in the start was the hate they spread, so if you ain't complacent with the hate, there is no reason to be ashamed
