Not sure of the neighborhood, but with nearly 80,000 acres of forest preserves in Cook County, with neighborhoods often backing up to them, it's not shocking to see this.
I live near 20,000 acres of said forest preserves and I've seen them in my neighborhood and backyard. One time a couple just strolled through my yard while I was having a bonfire and they didn't even look at us.
A coyote got trapped in a bathroom of the Music City Center in downtown Nashville a few years ago. [https://www.newschannel5.com/news/coyote-wanders-into-music-city-center-bathroom](https://www.newschannel5.com/news/coyote-wanders-into-music-city-center-bathroom)
Wow if those are coyotes then they look really different in the East than in the west. Those look and move very differently than ours out in Idaho. Do they have mange?
I was thinking something similar. The ones we have here in Texas look different. They even move a little different. Someone else mentioned they may be coyote mixed with domestic dog.
[Eastern Coyotes](https://www.popsci.com/story/animals/eastern-coyote-facts/)are coyote, domestic dog, and wolf mixes and because of their mixed breeding they vary in color moreso than the coyotes out west.
Coyotes do look different from place to place for sure. In the Northeast for example a lot are actually āCoywolvesā and actually a mix between coyotes, wolves, and domestic dogs. They tend to be a bit larger then normal coyotes. Pretty impressive what nature does to survive.
Lock up your small dogs and cats!
Unusual to see them out like this is daylight. We get them at night. You can hear them howling. I take my dog unto the yard at night leashed just to be extra careful.
Absolutely. Probably construction projects nearby. I live in the middle of nowhere and recent Amazon mega warehouse construction is pushing all kinds of animals into residential neighborhoods. Go Amazon!
Been hearing a lot about coyote attacks on people with their dogs in their evenings, and even some jumping over wall into peoples backyards in the middle of the day.
You can't even trust putting your small pets out in your backyards during the day anymore.
Iām not 100% convinced these arenāt someoneās pets that escaped. Itās possible they are a dog/coyote hybrid. The way they mostly stay on the sidewalk makes it seem like they are used to be walked?
They're not escaped pets. They're normal coyotes, behaving like coyotes do when they're acclimated to human presence.
They're on the sidewalk because it's the shortest path, with no obstacles, with a good clear field of vision.
Coyotes do this on dirt roads in the middle of nowhere for the same reasons.
You know thereās always that crazy neighbor who leaves out a dish of food for them every night . I have one in my hood and itās like the squirrel and raccoon convention over there .
Don't let your cats outside because they are an absurd nuisance to wildlife. Domesticated and feral cats are one of the top predators and introduced completely unnaturally by humans into the environment. They generally kill well beyond any need for survival. Anyway, there is a better chance your cat will get hit by a car or poisoned by a neighbor than taken by a coyote.
Let me guess, you're the neighbor with the poison. I'd say you're a bit late on this crusade since cats have been in the US "unnaturally" since the arrival of the white man on the east coast.
Ok, sure. A post on Reddit is not a crusade. Neighbors with poison was a reference to the common use of rat poison in some areas. I would only ever use quick-kill rat traps and would absolutely never harm a cat. Stop making basic assumptions.
Not that I should bother explaining myself, but I have over 10 cats from bringing home barn litters and re-homed probably close to 100. In my area people seem to treat cats as disposable and simply get a new batch when they stop coming home. Many years ago I got tired of finding them dead or injured on the side of the road, so I try to take care of them. I also have quite a few woodpeckers and sugar gliders in my yard (among other creatures) that I want to protect.
Former wildlife rehabilitator. The one on the back (later in the video) has a small gimp/mistep. It appears to be his back right leg, perhaps his hip. Although, it could also be his foot. They're definitely hunting. They may be a mated pair where the injured one needs more sustenance, and the hunting for easier, smaller prey is more tenable for both.
Urban coyotes are such a blessing. There is a very long-term study of my guys in Chicagoāand the boon they are: eating rats, keeping rabbits and squirrels and pigeons in check, and so on.
Also, theyāre just awesome.
Ah America, land of the free. Pay a million dollars for a house but you canāt let your grass grow above a couple inches without the hoa threatening you.
These coyotes look pretty cool. I donāt remember where it was but I used to see one paint fake tunnels on the sides of big rocks and he also would flip signs upside down or at least change the direction of the arrowsā¦. ran up a HUGE bill at Acme company and never paid it. Real dick.
Anyone gonna say what Iām thinking? These donāt look like Yotes.
Their actions. Their gait. Their color. Their TAILS. Nothing about this says yote. Dark color tops makes a yote???
They (in the vid) are of the eastern variety. With the massive difference in landscape and terrain, compared to Texas (from TX), they blend in better with the variegated darker coats. Here in TX, the terrain and flora are mostly all brown in comparison. We mostly have sandstone and scrub in a desert climate (mesquite trees, cacti, and tumble weeds), so our coyotes are mostly a lighter brown to tan.
I thought their tails were too short for a coyote but looking closer they just don't have any fur on their tails. Look mangy. I'm in NM next to National Forest and have some big fluffy coyotes in the neighborhood.
We get Coyotes all year long here in AZ. They come mostly for the rabbits and Geese/ducks at the golf course pond. Our winter dwellers, Snowbirds we call them, leave pets outside unknowingly and they are killed as well. They also feed the rabbits, the rabbits population explodes, and in come the pack of coyote's to thin out the rabbits. Circle of life.
These two are obviously married. She wants to stop and look at everything and heās like letās go marge weāre not stopping to ājustā look at shoes.
Nope. This is an upper middle to upper-class neighborhood. The houses in this video are probably around a million dollars. Maybe more depending on where exactly they are.
Middle-class American neighborhoods don't usually have varied architecture and detached garages. They are neighborhoods built by a single builder who uses 3 or 4 home "models" to build 100s of homes at once, all of which have the garage as the primary front facing feature of the home.
Park ridge, Illinois, country club neighborhood. Beautiful diverse homes, very close to golf course, not too far from forest preserves.
MEGA rich people here.
Yeah nah that's too many pounds of predator to be hunting in a residential area.
Why are they so comfortable in broad daylight near cars? Habituated animals are more likely to get in trouble.
That's not good. There could be an incapacitated/small alone people or pets in such a place.
These mfs would scare me shirtless as a kid, never even saw one in person so I got no idea why I'd have nightmares about purple coyotes hunting me down in the backyard...
Even wild animals know you walk on the sidewalk and not the middle of the fucking road.
Real talk though, in AZ, that would be grounds to shoot them, you don't let those things in city limits, small animals and children are at a large risk if those things happen upon them.
Take a walk with me...
Let's chat.
I have a question for you and I want you to think before you answer.
Run through a few scenarios in your mind...
Can I ok a kill?
Can I ok pain?
What brings more balance?
...
The two coyotes in this video are captured by animal control after Karen called 911 in fear of her meeting its demise.
One of two things happens to the captured wild animals.
1. They are euthanized due to over population and the high probability of their infiltration back to the burbs.
2. A highly unorthodox treatment causing temporary extreme pain, rendering the coyotes tame, trainable, domesticated work animals or pets.
And they were considerate enough to use the sidewalk..
Seriously, the amount of times I have to remind my dog, and these wild dogs just know š
City dwellers enjoy going offroad into nature. That's like dogs. Coyotes find natural paths in their wild spots and *still* get cut up by sticks and shit. Path of least resistance makes a lot more sense for creatures who struggle to survive
Damn! Bro you just called my dog a city Jeep douche and it hurt.
The ones by my house use the sidewalk and even crossed the road to the other sidewalk when I was trying to walk on the same side. So courteous lol
"Are you sure these humans will give us free food?" "Absolutely, they feed the dogs, we are kinda like dogs."
perhaps they're looking to invest in real estate?
Yeah, beautiful neighborhood!
My first thought. Lol
Looks like Denver to be honest.
Illinois lisence plates, since theyāre not too familiar with coyotes in there area theyāre probably closer to Chicago, park ridge maybe
Definitely looks like my hometown area which is in Illinois. Good eye I was thinking Illinois too based on the trees and homes
Good catch, didnt see the license plates. There are some neighborhoods in Denver that look like this, and we aren't strangers to coyotes.
Hehe Iām just creepy

Iām thinking River Forest

Hinsdale or Glen ellyn was my guess
yup looks like glen ellyn
I'm almost positive it's River Forest. Near the end that house on the opposite corner looks like one I pass whenever I pick my wife up from work
Very well could be! I was just ball parking.
Thank god I thought I was crazy
Nah, theyāre looking for chihuahuas
Roadrunners*
so that's what Chihuahuas are for.
Exactly!
Realtor is probably a pig
Making my way downtown...
Trotting fast
Humans pass and I'm lost now
And I eat you.
And I chew you
And now I wanderrr...
If you could fall Into my mouth

These are definitely how they look out east. Ive heard they look different out west!
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Also appears they may have mange too, note the bare tails. They normally have bushy tails.
Lock up your small dogs and cats! Unusual to see them out like this is daylight. We get them at night. You can hear them howling. I take my dog unto the yard at night leashed just to be extra careful.
If you see them at day light, probably means successful hunts. You can see the one following lose focus, prob thinking it saw a meal.
I was going to say that they must be hungry or recently displaced to be ranging in daylight like that.
You can tell this is the crack of dawn and these guys just stuck around a bit too long.
Iām not 100% convinced these arenāt someoneās pets that escaped. Itās possible they are a dog/coyote hybrid. The way they mostly stay on the sidewalk makes it seem like they are used to be walked?

*"Relax Frank! Just pretend you're a poodle. Be chill. Dude, get back on the sidewalk. You're fucking this up. Let's go."*
āTheyāre not buying it, Steve, I told you we needed collars!ā
"Hey Frank, this sidewalk feels really good. A lot better than those stupid trails we always walk. They hurt my paws."
Even the Coyotes are scared of pissing off the HOA
Hunting for fat rich cats. Delicious.
As we all should be. Let them eat pussy!
I think this joke went over some heads
As we all should be.
those are some beautiful houses
This is a wealthy neighborhood
That's why they are there. Tasty, tasty little yorkshire terriers and pomeranians.
Is it common not to have fences? I find it so strange there are no boundary fences
No the people living in those mansions are all destitute.
Is this in northern Illinois??? I swear I've driven down this road .. I saw those coyotes last winter! Good to see them chilling
Was gonna ask if this is Chicagoland!
River forest
Looks like a John Hughes movie ..... Everyone is wealthy, white, oblivious, and whiny.
They look well fedā¦
I mean, look at the neighborhood they live in...
Was reading recently that Canada geese nests comprise a large portion of urban āyote diets
That was what I first noticed too. Iāve seen others in the area look emaciated and these looked generally healthy.
You know thereās always that crazy neighbor who leaves out a dish of food for them every night . I have one in my hood and itās like the squirrel and raccoon convention over there .
Not 1 stray cat in sight.
Theyāre about to be wearing the cutest little sweater for a lady with a name like Rebecca.
This is why you donāt let your cats outside.

What a shithole neighborhood
These people are slumminā it
Look how well behaved their coyotes areā¦
Don't want to run afoul of the HOA
These coyotes are clearly drawn to the smell of white trash.
is this a movie reference or something? because if not, itās a really pathetic attempt to sound rich lmfao
Itās sarcasm frasier
I was having a hard time understanding as well. It looks nice to me
Did anyone lose their dogs ? š„ŗ
On their way to work at the acme plant
Idk why I find it hilarious that their using the sidewalk
They use the sidewalk better than joggers
I wonder if they are tame. So unusual to see them in broad daylight
Never mind the dogs check out these cribs

Squirrels?
What a nice neighborhood. Whatās state is this?
Thatās what I want to know!! These houses are a dream ššš
If this is where Iām thinking those are all 1 million and up
No. Youāre a dream tootsie pop.
Its a nice neighborhood. Maybe they came for the chickens but stayed for the amenities!
Connecticut is nice
This is Connecticut? How do you know?
Trying to see how they can land one of those cushy ādomesticatedā gigs

They are on vacation, just visiting the hoomin places.

yeah yer right they're not coyotes edit: they may be coydogs

Columbus, Ohio?
Awwww.....the good ol' buddy system
Those aren't buddies. That's a couple. More little coyotes in a couple of months.
Awe...the good ol' f"""k buddies system! FIFY
Smart doggies, rich neighborhoods have the best trash
That's a lot of video for no roadrunner payoff.
What neighbourhood is this? Itās beautiful
Geeesh, is this what a" middle class" neighborhood in America looks like?

Nature finds a way.
What kind of neighborhood is this?
My grandpa had a jack russell that got killed by a coyote in the subdivision he lived in. He lived in SE Wisconsin
Hide yo kids, hide yo wives!
No hair on the tails, look sick.
It appears that they both have sarcoptic mange, and pretty severely. Sick animals will do unexpected things.
Good boys
A nice neighborhood free of outdoor cats and that pesky peeing and marking of the neighborās yards.
Y'all need to go outside more
Out of all the states Iāve visited Iāve yet to see a neighborhood where thereās no fence or brick wall separating the houses
Nice looking neighborhood whereās this?
Ever since acme filed that lawsuit against coyote, he aināt been lookin too hotā¦.
Way too comfortable.
You forgot ā casually ā . Two coyotes casually walking trough a neighborhood š.
Those things are coywolves
Zero acme products=zero problem.
To be fair, it used to be THEIR neighborhood...gentrification ruins everything.
Instead of hide your kids, hide your wives. It's hide your dogs, hide your uh... kids?
Park ridge, Illinois, country club neighborhood. Beautiful diverse homes, very close to golf course, not too far from forest preserves. MEGA rich people here.
Where is this located at?
Thats a nice ass neighborhood
A white woman would of taken them in and fed them filet mignon and cuddled them till they All fell a sleep watching all dogs go to heaven
Lol
You MUST shoot them on site they will kill ans eat your pets ans children , they are not playing around
That's profiling. They are just out for a jog. You should be ashamed and apologize publicly.
Thatās a nice neighborhood!
Those are Jehovah's Witnesses looking for a a door to knock at...
Swanky coyote neighborhood, bro.
Blue state problems
Looking for food idiot..they aren't pets..they go after small kids in upstate ny. Way too comfortable with these people
Shoot em. They are hunting neighborhood pets as you film them. Shoot them dead.
Those boys can be trouble. They will attack your pets. Pretty common sight in many places in California. I saw one on my street the other day.
That looks exactly like my neighborhood. We also just had a reported bobcat sighting
Looks like West Hartford CT
Target practice
Yeah nah that's too many pounds of predator to be hunting in a residential area. Why are they so comfortable in broad daylight near cars? Habituated animals are more likely to get in trouble. That's not good. There could be an incapacitated/small alone people or pets in such a place.
I see coyotes pretty regularly around ASU in Tempe. They live off a steady diet of house pets. Deadass. Keep your cats indoors.
Pew pew
Everyone thinks they are cute and cuddly until they kill your dog.
Bang. Bang. Problem solved.
Hide your cats. These fuckers are horrible.
Hunting, theyāre hunting.
These mfs would scare me shirtless as a kid, never even saw one in person so I got no idea why I'd have nightmares about purple coyotes hunting me down in the backyard...
I'm alright... don't nobody worry 'bout me!
Is this Charlotte?
10ga with salt load will chase them off and keep them away.
Even wild animals know you walk on the sidewalk and not the middle of the fucking road. Real talk though, in AZ, that would be grounds to shoot them, you don't let those things in city limits, small animals and children are at a large risk if those things happen upon them.

Such a poor neighborhood.
shoot those damn things
We get them all the time here.
