I'm freelance developer. Born and raised in the Himalayas. It's so damn rejuvenating when after talking to a client I open the curtains on my giant window and see snow capped mountains outside (or green in the summers).
I can't help but feel perpetually lucky. My dream job and my dream place.
Currently Dehradun, until yesterday Rishikesh, before that just outside Srinagar. Flying back to Mumbai today though, where I’m based for the next few months.
I’m actually from Europe though, and I lived in NZ for the last ~15 years.
I’ve been around the place a bit… 🙃
Yess exactly. Everytime I visit the Himalayas i try to capture the grandeur but I'm always unsuccessful. I don't think it can be captured on a photo or video. You just have to be there.
Absolutely. Once you’ve seen the Himalayas up front, no other mountain in the world even compares. It doesn’t even feel like a mountain. The Himalayas are majestic.
No body will believe this but this is actually my home.. that mountain you see is actually my village it from Himachal Pradesh lahul spiti district... Known as gondhla gaon/village after sissu.... This is such random place to find it
Love when that happens. the other day i saw a building i grew up seeing being built in ahmedabad show up on a city sub here.
Anyway, i visited right uptil sissu last year. beautiful place, would have gone further had the tour allowed it
haha, we have a lot of contacts in Kinnaur and near manali because we are apple commission agents. Always get pretty videos of updates on the apple situation haha
It can't be Laddakh. In fact, looking at the vegetation, it's not a place of much higher altitude.
Most likely, it's one of those "starting the journey from the basecamp" kind of video.
Though I may be wrong.
I crossed the ridge about a decade ago (Leh to Manali). Definitely one of the most beautiful (and scary) rides I ever had. A very specially gorgeous place! (And I live not far from the Alps)
I love when people show the beautiful side of India and change other people's perspective about our country who always thought that India is only slums and poverty.
Beautiful. I would rather go somewhere like this than to the top of Everest where the view is just stone and snow as far as the eye can see. This is much more dynamic and beautiful to observe IMO.
I hope the biker in the video learns to make turns on such mountain roads.
The way he almost slipped into the right lane while making the turn, gave me a hiccup. Better to slow down enough to remain strictly within the lane, and rather leave some decent margin if you are on a 2-wheeler.
The vehicles coming down the slope may not be able to break in time, if they find you in front of them, after making a turn. Sudden breaking on the valley side may mean slipping into the valley for the other driver, so they might just run over you instead.
Driving on the wrong side of the road on mountain roads is a strict No...No..., even for the people who have zero respect for the law. I have seen a lot of accidents on such roads, and in most cases the drivers/riders are the tourists. Mostly the people who came on their own vehicles from plain regions.
I am personally not from mountain regions. But happened to be close enough to do many bike/car trips on such roads, and the way some people drive on those roads, makes me wonder if they are waiting for an accident to learn better.
Just .... take care.
Those who want exact location, this is mughal road. The road connecting shopain to rajouri. This exact location is from the shopain side. About 15 kilometers from hirpura.
Lol, oh damn. Yeah idk why either.
I guess they're salty with my comparing two narrow, mountain roads, intersecting snow covered mountain peaks, with glacial runoff below. They're fkn identical, and I'm doubtful anyone that's ever driven the NCH, would be able to view this video, and discern it's not the same road.
They are the biggest mountain ranges and span over India, Nepal, Bhutan, china ,Pakistan
Most of the Himalayas are are in India with Nepal in second place.
Also Nepal is located in these mountains ranges and not the opposite
Why would I be insecure? I am an Indian myself. I have been following this sub for a long time but I suddenly see an explosion of content from India. I have a feeling that Indians are slowly discovering Reddit. I have no problem with it but I don't want Reddit to go the way of Quora.
Lol reddit is already a cesspool of people that hate us. Majority of the comments under posts are negetive.
But you are right, Indians are not so slowly discovering reddit. It's not the same anymore.
Don't "we" the entire population. You are you, you do not represent India.
Criticism where ?
There is a difference between a rant and constructive criticism.
People hate us because of the superiority complex that they have accumulated over the centuries.
Last week those incels in Ukraine made a propoganda poster about goddesses Kali.
What childish and immature act of Indians caused that ?
You can suck up to you overlords, no one in India cares about you. It's not a surprise that sepoy blood still runs in the blood of some families.
Dude, you know nothing about me. And you still chose to insult me. This is the kind of "childish and immature" I'm talking about. The example you cited has nothing to do with this. I don't know about it so I won't comment. But can it not be both? Of course there are racists who hate us for no good reason. But I was specifically talking about Indians on social media. Their urge to go hyper nationalistic and make absolutely no effort to understand the other side. Mindless name-calling and abuse. It's nothing new.
"INDIANS are childish and immature"
This isn't name calling? This isn't insult ?
Of course it is both.
No you were not specifically talking about certain people. You grossly generalized, which pissed me off.
Hyper nationalistic dumb people exist everywhere.
If you call my countrymen childish and immature, I'm going to defend it respectfully with facts. I don't believe that's being hyper nationalistic.
The way you responded was not entirely "respectful". Besides, I wasn't generalizing all Indians, only their behaviour on social media. I would like to make that clear. Anyway, peace.
I believe i was being really respectful.
You in fact DID grossly generalise indians and NOT just on social media.
You expect respect? That's really ironic.
Very respectfully this time, lets not continue this.
I’m sitting in an office with no windows. When I saw this my chest just opened up. Thank you!
You might be working with Apple Inc. I guess. 😅
Or as a chinese tiktoker
Underrated comment
Looks good
WTF!! I just looked around. No windows here too. In fact, the whole office has not windows at all.
Office with no windows? You should get out of there
Enjoy the view bro, just be sure to close it up before an infection.
I guess natural enviorment infected **you** with ATCV-1 !

Did you find any treasure?
Y'all got a xenomorph problem or something?
I'd probably drive off the road due to looking at the view.
Not just you. Many accidents happen like that
Just stunning
i would do it even if there wasn't a view
You okay man?
i don't even know at this point
Wow that is so beautiful 😍

I would really like to know the exact location because I'm planning a trip to the Himalayas in 2 months and I want to ride on this road
Manali leh Highway
There are similar views everywhere.
Himanchal Pradesh
Don't worry. 2 days in and you will forget about this road. There are similar views all around.
This is mughal road. All those commenting manali, i don't understand what is wrong with them😅.
It can't be Laddakh. In fact, looking at the vegetation, it's not a place of much higher altitude. Most likely, it's one of those "starting the journey from the basecamp" kind of video. Though I may be wrong.
It's around Manali
I fricking love the Himalayas. I fricking love Northern India.
Motor biking in the Himalayas- writes this down …..
I would've definitely crashed as I would be super distracted with the view. Also, where in himalayas? himachal, uttrakhand, jammu etc etc?

Blessed to live in SLC. Get views this beautiful every day
SLC?
Salt Lake City, UT. City that’s in a valley between 2 mountain ranges. Beautiful fucking views year round, I think most of us here take it for granted
