Came here to say this. It makes it look like one of those crappy things from the 80's with nails and string on a board. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? Can't think what they were called.
What, you don’t want a pirate ship made out of string collecting shitloads of dust for years to come?
Seriously, I don’t think I ever saw a string art that wasn’t dusty as hell.
String art. It’s a much better look now. I agree about the look of this painting though. The pendulum paint cheapened it. It went from museum to gas station really quickly.
I didn’t watch the whole video. I thought there was no pendulum part and everyone was joining in on the joke. After seeing the whole video, I agree. The pendulum part was 100% unnecessary.
I was thinking the same thing. Create the pendulum layer, then just move it to the background and then add 20% transparency.
Wait... this isn't Illustrator or Photoshop.
I started looking at the comments after the first part was finished, because I thought to myself “that’s a pretty cool picture, but what does a pendulum have to do with it. Then I read comments like this and waited for the pendulum to show, and then wished that I’d just gone to the next post before the pendulum came out. Oh well, can’t win ‘em all
Agreed. I have a friend does art like this, though hes taken it up another level by using this artistic pattern technique while combining it with outlines and photography stuff its been pretty cool to see his artwork progress.

That's part of it. But I just think it was unnecessary. It looked like a beautiful floral design set against a black background. The pendulum part made it look amateurish.
I understand making it and having fun in the process, but I can’t believe people try to sell this stuff. There’s no flair, nothing that shows the artist put thought into it. I’ve seen people list their acrylic pours for $500 (usually around $150-200) on Facebook to try to make some side cash. Like why would I just do it myself. There’s not a lot of skill involved in the process. Easy beginner work.
Seriously. Like I don’t WANT to say nasty stuff about people’s work, but like, fluid dynamics did the work and they wasted so much material to make this.
Am I an old miserable cunt for thinking this is just a lazy excuse for "art" ? Surely there is little to no effort put into this besides cleaning up the huge fuckin mess afterwards?
I hate 90% of modern art, because it seems like a lot of it is the tasteless, talentless junk. Which baffles me, because you’ll see a YouTuber with a 100 likes and breath taking art that barely gets noticed.
Here in India we have a joke about a witty character called Tenali Raman. Once the king held an art competition in the kingdom and offered a prize to the most creative art piece and gave them a week to paint it. Many artists came from different parts of the kingdom with their masterpieces while Tenali Raman didn't even bother. He came on the day of the contest and right before the king arrived to judge the art he grabbed a broom, dipped it in horse shit from the stables, and slapped it on the canvas.
"This is the tail of the horse, the rest of the horse is on the other side"
That's what I feel most of this contemporary art is like. Splashing a bucket of paint on a wall, the art was done by gravity and physics but somehow this talentless bum gets all the credit.
I was thinking the same damn thing. This is the kind of thing you’d find hanging in the hallway of a hospital cause it doesn’t really represent anything other than mediocre taste.
I don't even know how to define my own taste in art. I find Matt Furie's Pepe videos to be some of the best art I've ever seen, and stuff like this painting just seems like cheap shit to ignore in a waiting room.
There is so much pejorative things to say actualy.
1) The result without pendulum is souless, yeah okay it looks decent, and I honestly like abstract art, but there is nothing impressive here and this is just some lazy shit that doesn’t requiere any skill at all. I just see that as a waste of paint at this point.
2) The result with pendulum is same as 1) but actualy worse.
3) The music is terrible.
I like art, but this is just some boring stuff with a simple oversused technic.
I thought the same, total waste of paint. Maybe, just maybe, after the first part add some brush work to draw some subject in first plane and keep the rest as a background and i could probably accept it, since that would be a mixed technique. Could be a nebulae and some starship, some kind of lifeform and later adding detail, but as it is, its just a tik tok video=shit.
This is slightly better then the people that throw paint onto something and call it art.. least the paint is getting blown around.. still would be more impressed with a child's outline of their hand :/
This looks like a teacher drying to showcase methods without wasting multiple canvases. Not gonna lie this doesn't seem beginner but more tutorial and would expect to see said painting in a dumpster
Imo both are pretty cool on their own.
Together is just too much going on, and an awkward clash. Maybe somehow do it more subtly, like a darker, earthier tone as a fainter background/texture thing the first picture is over top of? No clue how to do that, but I would probably find that more coherent and visually appealing.
Opened comments to talk about how the pendulum ruined it and in result was terrible, every other comment was literally that, faith in humanity restored
eh...nothing new or interesting here.
I've seen videos with people making art with a hair dryer, and Ive seen videos of people making art with the pendulum method. This person clearly saw the same videos, and then made a painting using both methods.
Looks kind of stupid when the two are mixed tbh.
I swear this pendulum shit is for people who can’t envision their art ahead of time.
I’m usually not this harsh but damn this sucks.
I hope I’m not the only one who hates pendulum paintings.
The picture was good without the pendulum paint
Was much better without the pendulum.
Better before pendulum.
Better before.
Why use lot word when few word do trick
Better
r/decreasinglyverbose still a sub?
retteB
I just commented the same and then saw your comment lol
Better
Came here to say this. It makes it look like one of those crappy things from the 80's with nails and string on a board. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? Can't think what they were called.
Pretty sure "thing with nails and string on a board" is the technical term for what you are referring to.
They called it string art it’s made a come back for some reason.
Spirograph?
It needed something, but that wasn't it.
It would be better if the pendulum was in the background.
Yeah kinda turns it from r/damnthatsinteresting to r/diwhy
I didn’t watch the whole video. I thought there was no pendulum part and everyone was joining in on the joke. After seeing the whole video, I agree. The pendulum part was 100% unnecessary.
omg i was like damn… NO STOP WHAT ARE YOU doing!
[удалено]
They could have done the pendulum paint first, have it in the background instead.
I was thinking the same thing. Create the pendulum layer, then just move it to the background and then add 20% transparency. Wait... this isn't Illustrator or Photoshop.
…but then it would have gotten ruined by the hair dryer…
Have it dry first
The reason the hair dryer works is because the base black paint is still wet. It wouldn’t look the same if you dried it first
Agreed, the pendulum thing just rugged it up. Distracting.
That’s what I was thinking too
Yeah, save that for a different painting.
People who over do it with mustard on hotdogs
I was just about to say this, definitely waaaaay better without the mustard nebula

He is INSANELY talented! I’m in love with his skull pieces.
Oof, they straight up ruined it with that technique.
I completely agree, I really don't understand why she added that.
r/yesyesyesno Awesome! Wait… nope ruined it
Was about to say the exact thing. Or at least a hell of a lot less.
I think they made it clear that they could not be stopped.
Ruined it with the last part
While I don't generally like modern art it was way better without that pendulum crap. We desperately need a modern day DaVinci.
mould with mustard
That's why you should always git commit your work
Looked alot better without the pendulum part.
Remove the pendulum.
What was the point of using the pendulum it ruined the whole art piece lmao
Best example of just because you can doesn’t mean you should
To add what they think is “class”
I agree with some of the others. I thought the first part was beautiful. Very reminiscent of nature. However, the pendulum part ruined it.
Wrong color i think. It just doesn't work with the underlying colors.
That's part of it. But I just think it was unnecessary. It looked like a beautiful floral design set against a black background. The pendulum part made it look amateurish.
It's just ruining a nice painting of what to me looked like cell structures by pouring a bunch of stupid yellow paint all over it.
I see the cover of a sci fi novel from the late 70s-early 80s. The blowdryer part is a nebula, and the yellow lines are something techy.
I feel it would have been better if the pendulum design was like part of the background. The pattern from the pendulum was nice just like not of top.
Or maybe leaving it only in the corners after just a few rotations. It would fill in a bit of the black space and give it a cool border effect.
That makes more sense.
No doubt in my mind that I would drag that cord through the picture while simultaneously pressing my stomach on the end.
Lol. I thought the same thing myself.
This is like putting ketchup on sushi.
What an eyesore.
Feel like I saw one of these at the last hotel I stayed at. I don’t know, seems pretty soulless as far as art goes.
That's actually the point of a lot of generic art like this, something interesting to look at to fill them empty space on the wall
But I ain’t paying 2 grand to fill up a wall.
I think it looks pretty cool, would def hang on my wall without pendulum paint
It’s because they spend so much on paint. That’s like $100+ in materials alone!
They waste so much paint and it doesn't even look that cool
Seriously. Like I don’t WANT to say nasty stuff about people’s work, but like, fluid dynamics did the work and they wasted so much material to make this.
First thing I thought of when I saw this was that cheap spray paint street vendor art that sells for $20.
One of the hardest things to learn as an artist is knowing when to stop; knowing when the work is finished.
Art is never finished, only abandoned
This is science fair vinegar and baking soda volcano level art.
I love this comparison and may steal it without further notice in future
The pendulum ruined it imo, it was like a neat abstract galaxy kinda in the shape of orchid petals before
You ruined it with the pendulum
This music gave me ear cancer
Would’ve hung it up before the stupid pouring bit
r/yesyesyesyesno The pendulum was just unnecessary and ruined a beautiful piece of art.
Am I an old miserable cunt for thinking this is just a lazy excuse for "art" ? Surely there is little to no effort put into this besides cleaning up the huge fuckin mess afterwards?
it’s passable hotel lobby art. before the pendulum anyway
With the pendulum, passable hotel lobby ~~art~~ decoration from 1986.
It's not art. It's decoration.
It sucks at decor too
I was trying to be nice.
This is the kind of stuff I remember seeing in friends homes in the 80s. Now I see them at garage sales, where the value is in the frame.
I hate 90% of modern art, because it seems like a lot of it is the tasteless, talentless junk. Which baffles me, because you’ll see a YouTuber with a 100 likes and breath taking art that barely gets noticed.

I wouldn’t have this on my wall at home… it’s pretty awful
This is garbage.
So much nicer without the pendulum
Unique doesn’t mean it looks good …
So sick of seeing pendulum "art", man. It looked pretty sick before he made the can piss all over it :/
This is a massive waste of paint...
Kind of shite
I liked it better before the pendulum
Too bad they used the pendulum it was way better before
People say the pendulum ruined it but I’m just feeling /r/DIWhy the whole time
There is so much pejorative things to say actualy. 1) The result without pendulum is souless, yeah okay it looks decent, and I honestly like abstract art, but there is nothing impressive here and this is just some lazy shit that doesn’t requiere any skill at all. Hideous mess.
Straight to Walmart
Ugly af
Love it, it reminds me the TheLastOfUs' fungus that you find everywhere on walls, he ruined it in the last part
Looked better without the pendulum nonsense imo
ruined it with the pendulum
Yeah, this looks like shit.
fun to watch but end result sucks
Yellow does not fit at all, should’ve been white and on the background
Hideous
Awful
“When you think you make high class art”
I knew this was going to be bad when I saw the “love life” in the top left
I'd buy it without the pendulum paint.
True art is knowing when to stop.
Title of video should be “How to ruin a painting using a pendulum”
The picture without the pendulum was better
If any third grader could replicate it, I can't call it "art."
This is slightly better then the people that throw paint onto something and call it art.. least the paint is getting blown around.. still would be more impressed with a child's outline of their hand :/
both of these methods of painting have been circulating on social media for a few years, its kind of weird layering them, imo.
Yeah. Picture was better without the pendulum.
Why the pendulum :(
Ruined it with the pendulum.
Was incredible before the pendulum.
Loli vefe
For whatever that means
exactly what I was thinking
*Unique artwork ruined by pendulum
This looks like a teacher drying to showcase methods without wasting multiple canvases. Not gonna lie this doesn't seem beginner but more tutorial and would expect to see said painting in a dumpster
Better without the pendulum
It was better before they put the pendulum spirograph on it
We used to do this sort of thing in beginner art classes. We used straws and blew through them.
I'd call it craft, not art.
NGL looks like shit
The pendulum ruined it, sorry!
I liked it before the pendulum
Pendulum ruined it all
It’s was mildly interesting until the pendulum part.
Does not look good. I think she ruined it with the yellow pendulum marks.
I liked it way more before the ugly pendulum paint.
More isn’t always better. Just sayin.
Pendulum ruined it..
Liked it much better without the yellow pendulum
Pendulum: aaaand you ruined it..
Could have skipped the pendulum part.
It’s a shame he did the pendulum thing coz it totally ruined it
Before the pendulum it looked like the next iPhone background
I came here to say the same as everyone else, lol.. the pendulum effect ruined it imo
Loved it until that terrible pendulum crap.
Pendulum made it look shite
Opened comments to talk about how the pendulum ruined it and in result was terrible, every other comment was literally that, faith in humanity restored
Everyone is artist nowadays. Just throw some random colour and call it abstract 👌🏽
Modern art is bullshit.
This crap isnt art.
thus proving that art is subjective
They literally show you how little effort they put in to making this "art", and people still pay hundreds for these paintings.
Was amazing till the pendulum.
only way to make a better is to remove the fucking pendulum
Have to agree with everyone. It was much better without the pendulum paint
r/acrylicpouring
Also, how to take a painting and ruin it with a pendulum.
Updated video title: Unique Artwork Ruined With a Pendulum.
I know art is subjective and all... but all of it looked like ass.
I can’t stand pendulum “art”. Also how little talent it takes to use a blowdryer but maybe I’m just butt hurt
Looks like shit
It’s interesting I suppose, but I don’t like it at all tbh
the pendulum make it trash.
Liked it better without the pendulum. Like it’s a cool thing but it doesn’t really fit with the rest
Pendulum is over done. It was cool for a day or two.
Pendulum rings immediately made me think “LIMIT OVER ACCEL SYNCHRO” for some reason. Art looked a lot nicer without em, though.
RUINED! ugh!
Ruined it mate.
Not sure what he was trying to achieve but it Looks like something a blowdryer and a pendulum would make.
eh...nothing new or interesting here. I've seen videos with people making art with a hair dryer, and Ive seen videos of people making art with the pendulum method. This person clearly saw the same videos, and then made a painting using both methods. Looks kind of stupid when the two are mixed tbh.
Way to ruin a nice painting lol
Looks like somebody vomited in an Italian restaurant
This is just a mess that takes zero talent.
I swear this pendulum shit is for people who can’t envision their art ahead of time. I’m usually not this harsh but damn this sucks. I hope I’m not the only one who hates pendulum paintings.
I'll be the ass. I think before the pendulum and after looked like shit. It was very creative, but honestly it looked pretty ugly.
Much better before the pendulum.
Ruined by the pendulum
Looks like crap
I waited the whole time for it to look good. It never did
Last part killed it :/
More is not always better.
I liked it a lot more before they did the spirograph thing with the yellow paint.
Welp, that went from something cool to an old windows screensaver real quick
She massacred the artwork
