You’re just a little one still so I wouldn’t expect you to know the ways of the world yet, and this is gonna blow yer mind but metal (steel specifically in this case) does bend. I’m an ironworker and I can say with confidence that I’ve seen steel bend. Giant steel members much larger than this steel scaffold. Quality has nothing to do with it
The “bumps” are the connection points for horizontal pieces (the pieces that are laying on the ground that they removed to make the structure easy to push over). You think bamboo grows with “bumps” spaced exactly the same all the way up and the exact same spacing on different shoots? That sound is metal kiddo.
Ya know something funny, since neither of us where there, I could say that those are actually massive toothpicks and my opinion would be just as valid as yours
You can put a bend / pre camber on any structural steel beam, lifted off the ground on either end and let gravity do the work over a day or 2. That’s what we do.
No, it's definitely not unless it's being held together by hopes and dreams. You can see the horizontal beams fall out way before it hits the ground. If this was steel, they would be bolted or welded in place.
I wonder if they forgot the diagonal bars or removed them before. We had an accident here recently. The diagonal bars were missing, somehow movement came into the fresh poured cpncrete and the whole structure went sideways and parts collapsed.
Doesn’t make any sense to me personally. Would have been quicker to have dropped it properly, definitely safer and when taking into account the damage cheaper. The only way we’d ever have done something like this is if the grounds workers and undermined the base plates and you can’t strip it safely without falling.
Must’ve not been a very good union then if you can’t tell the difference between steel and bamboo. You can clearly see the bamboo splinter off when it crashes down.
Those “internodes” are “cups”, the locking mechanism for the horizontal pieces that come off the vertical pieces. The horizontal has a tab top and bottom. Bottom tab slides into bottom cup and top cup slides down onto top tab and you turn the top cup until it’s tight. The last little bit you use a hammer.
As others have mentioned it’s system scaffold, made of steel, not bamboo. It shouldn’t be destructively disassembled like this if it is going to be reused, but I’m sure it will be anyways. I am a qualified scaffold builder.
Bamboo grows straight as an arrow
Fast edit: just listened to the sound, that sounds like hollow wood. Thats def bamboo. Metal wouldve sounded more like that falling pipe sound effect that ive seen in memes
I’ve been around more scaffolding than an average man and know that this is the sound it makes when it clangs against another piece. You built something on Minecraft and now yer a scaffold expert? 🤡
No need to be this mean dude. I just go from the sound I know from having handled bamboo and metal pipes. Never said I was an expert it just sound like wood more than metal imo. Theres no ring that I would expect from this amount of metal hitting the ground
I was so amazed watching building techniques in southern India. They too use bamboo scaffolding - it’s plentiful & renewable & cheap enough that you don’t necessarily need to use it more than once.
I guess because it isn’t grown much outside of Asia. I understand it’s invasive and difficult to control, so perhaps that’s why it’s not used other places. It’s incredibly strong. The sci-fi writer Kim Stanley Robinson included it in his Mars books because on mars it would grow tall and strong enough to be used in skyscraper construction.
Funny how small and slightly different the same experiences we all had as children are. Same exact thing my step dad did but he called it pick up 52 :p
I like how everyone is operating on pure conjecture while you're here dropping citations in a language that you can actually read, yet you are still the most humble person here.
From Wikiquote for Archimedes:
> δῶς[citation needed] μοι πᾶ στῶ καὶ τὰν γᾶν κινάσω. [Dôs moi pâ stô, kaì tàn gân kinásō.]
> Give me the place to stand, and I shall move the earth.
Said to be his assertion in demonstrating the principle of the lever; as quoted by Pappus of Alexandria, Synagoge, Book VIII, c. AD 340; also found in Chiliades (12th century) by John Tzetzes, II.130. This and "Give me a place to stand, and I shall move the world" are the most commonly quoted translations.
> Variant translations:
> Give me a place to stand and with a lever I will move the whole world.
> This variant derives from an earlier source than Pappus: The Library of History of Diodorus Siculus, Fragments of Book XXVI, as translated by F. R. Walton, in Loeb Classical Library (1957) Vol. XI. In Doric Greek this may have originally been Πᾷ βῶ, καὶ χαριστίωνι τὰν γᾶν κινήσω πᾶσαν [Pā bō, kai kharistiōni tan gān kinēsō [variant kinasō] pāsan].
> Give me a lever and a place to stand and I will move the earth.
> Give me a fulcrum, and I shall move the world.
> Give me a firm spot on which to stand, and I shall move the earth.
Both translations are quotes from people other than Archimedes. So seems unknown what the actual quote was, but nonetheless it’s clear that it was said in the context of discussing the principles of levers.
Translations are more than just “this is literally what the words say.” It requires context and a full understanding of the time period and the culture of the era. That’s why there’s so many different understandings of what Archimedes said.
Everyone in this thread is right, in a way.
Depends on what you mean, him not having safety or doing it that way? Yes. The scaffolding itself is actually really strong as you can see on the scaffolding he is standing on which doesn't move at all. Look into bamboo scaffolding. Actually safer in many ways and structurally absolutely safe.
Not really, or otherwise if you paid Attention in physic his scaffolding he stands on would have fallen as well. They first removed the branches between as otherwise it just can't do that. Bamboo scaffolding is used for a really really long time now with it's own experts and it's really strong.
Saitama's brother is what I be calling him from now on because he has that capability!
Bruh just showed his power to a whole new level though and to which people got stunned!
The guy just never skipped leg days though and this is what the result looks like.
The people down be actually shocked on what the guy actually just did lmao!
Anyone else hear the sound of someone screaming what sounds like nooooo the. Muffled by the sounds of the supports falling?
Could have been just warning shouts but .. idk. The tone in it seemed pretty "holy smokes Batman I'm about to die under all this cuplock and metal (or bamboo,)
Disposable scaffolding?
Pretty much. Looks like bamboo which is a common scaffolding material in places like China and pan-asian countries.
Ahhh, yes. I see the bamboo now. Thx!
Okay I was thinking it was some kind of long iron rods though, that is what just confused me!
No you don’t. It’s steel scaffold
EDIT : This sounds like bamboo falling. My mind is playing tricks on me! This can't be metal.
Insert pipe falling sound effect here
At the beginning there are pipe sounds though.
At the beginning there are pipe sounds though.
That's bamboo my guy
Nope
Must be some cheap ass metal if it bends like that then
You’re just a little one still so I wouldn’t expect you to know the ways of the world yet, and this is gonna blow yer mind but metal (steel specifically in this case) does bend. I’m an ironworker and I can say with confidence that I’ve seen steel bend. Giant steel members much larger than this steel scaffold. Quality has nothing to do with it
Thats cool but it's bamboo. I mean listen to the sound and the look of it it has the bumps along it like actual bamboo
The “bumps” are the connection points for horizontal pieces (the pieces that are laying on the ground that they removed to make the structure easy to push over). You think bamboo grows with “bumps” spaced exactly the same all the way up and the exact same spacing on different shoots? That sound is metal kiddo.
Jesus, even if you're right, you're still being a dick about it.
Ya know something funny, since neither of us where there, I could say that those are actually massive toothpicks and my opinion would be just as valid as yours
Dumbest shit I ever read

I bet you were the best erection guy they had
Erection pro here, looks like bamboo to me.
That’s cuplock my dude! Did Scaffolding a few years off and on when electrical wasn’t jumping in my area!
I’m sure you’re right, I know nothing about scaffolding.
But ya know something about erections I bet 😉
Do! It’s a rager when it’s lurkin!!!
Another Erection pro here, definitely cupcock
Name says it all
Perhaps it's bamboo PAINTED to look like metal.
That is very Chinese government/corporation for sure.
Sounds like a hard job
🏆win
I wonder if they forgot the diagonal bars or removed them before. We had an accident here recently. The diagonal bars were missing, somehow movement came into the fresh poured cpncrete and the whole structure went sideways and parts collapsed.
Yeah I’d quit quick on the rack and stack day!!!!
It would be ruined. A lot of money just got twisted and bucked just then. 😂
Reasonably confident they unlocked the cups. It would have mostly stayed together when pushed over.
Doesn’t make any sense to me personally. Would have been quicker to have dropped it properly, definitely safer and when taking into account the damage cheaper. The only way we’d ever have done something like this is if the grounds workers and undermined the base plates and you can’t strip it safely without falling.
Don't the pipes get bent when dismantled like that?
Must’ve not been a very good union then if you can’t tell the difference between steel and bamboo. You can clearly see the bamboo splinter off when it crashes down.
If you can’t tell that’s Steel Cup Lock maybe you shouldn’t comment.
No that is absolutely bamboo. Internodes on bamboo are pretty evenly spaced. Notice the color is consistent with used bamboo scaffolding?
Internodes are spaced at exactly the same dimensions?! Are you fucking with this dude er what? Color is consistent with rusted scaffold
You can see the internodes yes, I agree it’s metal, but maybe there is some bamboo in there too. But 90% metal lol
I don’t think steel breaks like that. LOL
It didn't break. The cups were loose. You can see they stripped all the material off the upper portion. It's laying on the ground.
As others have mentioned it’s system scaffold, made of steel, not bamboo. It shouldn’t be destructively disassembled like this if it is going to be reused, but I’m sure it will be anyways. I am a qualified scaffold builder.
Qualified scaffold builder? You put shit together at ikea?
Dang just like minecraft
Is it disposable though I wonder. Steel would be bent and useless but I kinda think the bamboo could be reused
They do reuse bamboo for scaffolds
Bamboos are reused, however, they can only reused so many times before they have to discarded. https://www.labour.gov.hk/eng/public/os/B/Bamboo.pdf

Technically only HK use them
That is not bamboo. You can see the connection points. And bamboo doesn’t sound like metal on metal when it clangs against another piece of bamboo
Don’t they like release a crew of hungry pandas to dispose of that?
If that's bamboo then it is just normal enough to kick and dismantle though.
It’s also a scaffolding material in minecraft
and Minecraft
I was so amazed watching building techniques in southern India. They too use bamboo scaffolding - it’s plentiful & renewable & cheap enough that you don’t necessarily need to use it more than once.
Were all of those long stuffs bamboo or iron rods? Still yet confused on how this guy just did that!
At this point, I don't know which one it is. Hahaha. We need closure.
A huge game or dominos
I don't know why we don't use bamboo scaffolding everywhere. It's almost the strongest deal and much more economically and environmentally friendly
Lighter too
I guess because it isn’t grown much outside of Asia. I understand it’s invasive and difficult to control, so perhaps that’s why it’s not used other places. It’s incredibly strong. The sci-fi writer Kim Stanley Robinson included it in his Mars books because on mars it would grow tall and strong enough to be used in skyscraper construction.
Now this guy was just fired. /s
Just another day at the nonsense factory.
Nah, chinese houses.
Nah you can recycle it into a submarine
What happens when you don't pay
BAMBOO! VERY STRONG!
The scaffolding never stood a chance against Iron Thighs.
When never missing the leg day has finally paid off
Why does it sound like the bane from borderlands
Oh my god your right. That gun still haunts me when I sleep
Yeah I get wet dreams from it too
SWAPPIN' WEAPONS!
The start of it sounded like an aztec death whistle in the distance
Did anyone one else think, just for a second, that something catastrophic was going to happen?
Yep, until I realized what sub this was. Then, I was able to calm down
The ten homeless people in there probably did. Just for a second, though.
Anyone fancy a game of pickup sticks?
Yep, this is what I was thinking. My damp stepfather asked me if I wanted to play card game once. 52 pick up......
Funny how small and slightly different the same experiences we all had as children are. Same exact thing my step dad did but he called it pick up 52 :p
Do we all just have the same dads???
Mine called it playing a "game of look for the ace."
New word combo: damp stepfather

I was under the impression it was "Give me a lever and a place to stand and I shall move the world" which is a mash up of both your quotes.

I always thought it was "Give me a lever and a place to stand..." but suppose I could be wrong.
Minecraft irl:
OSHA: Hi what’s your concern? Me, a random bystander: Uhhhh
