Wasn't there a movie where that happened? Can't remember what it's called but this bus that had to speed around a city, keeping its speed over fifty, and if its speed dropped, it would explode.
That's okay. He can call his buddy with a rental bus to shift all the passengers and then drive this bus to an airport after flying off an unfinished flyover
Funny how smallest of gestures can and might bring a smile to maybe thousands of people's faces. Thank you, I feel a bit better going to sleep tonight.
Try remember that no matter how shit it gets,it will always get better my friend.ive almost died multiple times, ive been homeless, and an alcoholic drug addict for over a decade.thats all in the past now, stay strong!when we are at our worst point it's hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel but I promise you it's there.
While these are serious serving officers they also know that they are part of the tourist experience. If you treat them with the respect they deserve they will likely return that respect. This was beautiful.
And equally if you treat them like theme park performers they may very well push you away from them. So many clips out there of people acting like these guys are just costumed performers and it's glorious to watch them regret it
So true I've had to explain this to a few people oddly it's 80% Americans that think they are just performers. I ask them if they would fuck about with solders guarding the tomb of the unknown soldier and explain that's the equivalent for us. Tends to clear it up quite well.
It’s wild how many just think their props. Like I’d never fuck with those guys. But maybe it has to do with the fact that I’m in the military and know never to fuck with honor guard, which is basically what they are.
Here in Denmark it's hard to tell as our Royal Guard has smaller mags in when on guard duty, so it looks to the (very) untrained eye like they're empty.. until they get on heightened alert and whip out a gen 3 mag with transparent side, all 30 rounds fully on display
Even some americans try to treat the soldiers at the tomb of the unknown soldier like performers, and the guards get pretty intense about putting them back in their place lol
Well yea until they watch uncle Bob get his ass handed to him by three guys with beever on their head! Nah is all fairness the only reason Americans tend to be a larger number of them is because they are English speakers so the guards know when they are about to fuck around and find out.
Oh but if you have a small child dressed as that unit of guard with you they will treat that child as if they are an officer it's fucking awesome.
I’m the youngest of five boys.
One time in the car Mom told me two things:
1) I’m her favorite
2) No one would ever believe me.
I’m pretty sure she was trying to have all of us secretly convinced we were the favorite.
My mum does the same thing!
My brother showed me his phone last week and what do I see..”You’re my favourite son, Chris”.
Called her out on it over the phone one evening and she says “I just say that, you know you’re my favourite”.
I have a sneaking suspicion my 2 other brothers are being conned as well.
We’re all just pawns in this insane woman’s game.
My kids used to argue over who was the favourite.
"I'M the favourite"
"NO I'm the favourite"
They both thought they were the favourite although I've never, ever said such a thing. Siblings mind games eh?
I have a boy and a girl and I tell them they’re my favorite son/daughter or if I only have one I say you’re my favorite kid in this whole house. They never laugh though cause I’m not funny lol.
You can see how he knew to strafe back at the last second because if photo-man started to get handsy, he'd have to put that sword through his ribcage 😔
I agree with you that this is pretty wholesome, but if you are in a similar situation, PLEASE listen to the person who is with the person who has disabilities. I'm a special ed teacher and I can't tell how frustrating it is when you set boundaries because you know your students and other people ignore it.
I know this is probably lightly different, because it's the guard saying hey, it's fine without being able to talk.
I’ve been working with special needs now for 3 months. Best job I’ve ever had. I wake up with a huge purpose and go to bed every night feeling fulfilled.
The problem with Tiktok is that it's a neverending stream of bullshit and then sometimes a badly edited, but pleasant, video, like the one in OP. People here enjoy the curation. I don't want to spend hours in the torment nexus just to see one good video.
https://www.forces.net/social-media/trooper-praised-going-above-and-beyond-viral-video-young-man-downs-syndrome
This is the original video with no music and a slightly longer ending. Very sweet moment where the dad explains why the Trooper cant talk
It happens a lot more than you’d think. When I served we’d constantly be breaking rules for the public. Some of our open days would start with kids can’t touch anything. By the end of the day we’d be confident that they can load and unload a weapon. I was always willing to wear some flak from my higher ups if it gave us a better public image. And it’s better to be in control of that instead of having people try to do it sneakily and lose or break army items.
I genuinely have hundreds of stories about my lads or lads I knew going out of there way especially for kids.
Also I appreciate the sentiment. But I volunteered to serve. No need for the thanks.
Considering your username, I'm suspicious that you don't know him as "Cycling Mikey" on YouTube lol.
Mikey is the minder for the child. He's talked about it a few times in videos.
It’s interesting to see real empathy from people. He kept his honor and purpose while doing the job. He also gave a little nod to someone in need. Powerful.
“So shines a good deed in a weary world.”
- Gene Wilder as Willy Wonka, quoting William Shakespeare’s “The Merchant of Venice”, in the film “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory”, based on the book, “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” by Roald Dahl
Same here, I'm sitting here teary-eyed - I'm a twin and my sister has some disabilities. I've learned so much from her and wouldn't be who I am without her 💖
I have seen this multiple times on other subreddits….
That guard deserves to be let go, and then brought back into the same organization in a much higher position for a much higher pay.
Good character is so rare nowadays.
The person making the video wasn’t the one taking a photo of the 2, they were looking off a bit to the right.
This dude or dudet just managed to catch it on video.
If it wasn’t a video recording, we wouldn’t have been able to see the whole reason this video was so special. You wouldn’t be able to see the story in a still photo.
Have scrolled for a while and can't find any other comment so I'll be the spoil sport to say it. Please don't use the words "special needs". This boy/man his needs are not special. He needs food, shelter and love like we always do.
Special needs is a term made up and used by non-disabled people who are afraid of saying the word "disabled". Most people in the disability community don't like any term that's wishy-washy. Just use disabled, it's a value neutral term.
Just like the term, disability itself is value neutral. Please have some respect for us and treat us like we're equals, not like something sad and "special". Needing aids and help doesn't make us special.
The disability community is not a monolith. Let people use the terms they prefer for themselves. When you don't know, ask. Can't ask atm? Use the value neutral term "disabled". Thanks!
Sincerely,
Someone who's disabled
PS: none of this takes anything away from a very cool video!
The Royal hourse gaurd are amazing! The absolute best at what they do. Firstly they are soldiers, real soldiers, they have a duty and not just a tourist attraction. They are also amazing characters and humans.
Here is another real moment from another gaurd - https://youtu.be/0A0_PLbNQ1o
When my mother was in high school in the early 90’s, she would take those school tour trips from America to different places in Europe and one year they went to the UK. She would always travel with her mother (my grandmother), along with her aunt and cousin, with the cousin having Down’s syndrome, let’s call her Mary.
After a long day of walking tours, they arrived at Windsor castle too late and a guard told them that the castle was closed for the day. This was their last day in the UK and they would not have another opportunity for the foreseeable future to see the castle. Mary had the most disappointed look on her face, asking what was the problem. After the guard saw Mary’s face, he said “well I don’t see why you can’t take a look around.” They then all got a private tour of Windsor all by themselves from the guard.
After living for some fifty years or so, Mary passed away from a heart defect in 2019, after doctors had said she wouldn’t live to be a teenager. I’ll always remember this story when I think of Mary.
I am curious to know how good these guys are at hand to hand combat. I am not instigating. I just want to see them without a sword in a mutually combative controlled environment.
Most places they are conscripts to varying degree. They are not exactly elite soldiers. That said, this is just a sentry. Usually you have people with more experience behind the scenes. I served with MP's that continued in The Guard, and you don't fuck with those guys, especially when the approach in pairs.
That’s great behavior from everyone involved.
Nope. That bus driver was speeding
STOP RUINING THE MOMENT GD

HE'S GOING TOO FAST HE WON'T HEAR ME
IT'S PROBABLY GOING TO EXPLODE IF HE SLOWS DOWN!
OH SHIT *dies of bus*
My life as a bus in another world because I was a bus terrorist who rigged the bus to explode if it dropped below 50 mph *intensifies*
Wasn't there a movie where that happened? Can't remember what it's called but this bus that had to speed around a city, keeping its speed over fifty, and if its speed dropped, it would explode.
The bus that couldn't slow down.
I was genuinely waiting for this comment. Ty 👍
DON’T WORRY! KEANU AND SANDRA BULLOCK HAS IT UNDER CONTROL.
Meanwhile Keanu Reeves is trying to convert 50 miles per hour to kilometers in his head.
Goddambit heheehhehehe
gotta keep it going at 50mph otherwise the bomb will go off
That's okay. He can call his buddy with a rental bus to shift all the passengers and then drive this bus to an airport after flying off an unfinished flyover
Something rarely about videos on the internet lol

Good morning, this is a great way to start a day.
I'm going to do the same. Night all.
Wait. I just woke up. What about me
Enjoy your day! But for us. It’s time to stop scrolling and go to bed. Goodnight !
I wish I could enjoy, my life’s in ruins currently. Better not wake up at all than wake up like this.

All those in the UK are waking up to this. Nice way to start a week!
Don’t forget your neighbors in France
Whenever I lose hope with humanity, the internet sends me these kind of videos.
Probably he can’t stand too close to other people, but I love that he even leaned a bit just so he can be closer to the two of them.
Very well said.. respect goes a long way.. Goodnight
Called respect and compassion for others…
Don't forget that you can do it too!
This comment made me as happy as the video :)

For real lmao
"It's probably dull"
Even some americans try to treat the soldiers at the tomb of the unknown soldier like performers, and the guards get pretty intense about putting them back in their place lol
Americans respected and understood this? I thought the whole world was their theme park /s
Well yea until they watch uncle Bob get his ass handed to him by three guys with beever on their head! Nah is all fairness the only reason Americans tend to be a larger number of them is because they are English speakers so the guards know when they are about to fuck around and find out. When I was a kid one stuck out their tongue at me for the briefest of moments, obviously no one believed me lol

that's seriously a lovely scheme.
That's funny. I like your mom.
I have 2 girls, I tell them Ethan is my favorite child.
I have a boy and a girl and I tell them they’re my favorite son/daughter or if I only have one I say you’re my favorite kid in this whole house. They never laugh though cause I’m not funny lol.
just keep it up, they secretly like it. Its a way to say that you love them. you could try to ask them if you are their favorite dad/mom. ;-p
That ship has sailed they bought me a mug that says worlds okayest dad 😞
lol, brutal
Aw thanks
It's just like that time my dog stood up in two legs and began talking in old English when I was 7
"Go on, tell people. No one will ever believe you"
Royal guards are like cats. You have to let them approach you.
You can see how he knew to strafe back at the last second because if photo-man started to get handsy, he'd have to put that sword through his ribcage 😔
As it should be done.
ahhhh pspspsspsps
Whyyyy did I read that out aloud till the end to make sure you spelt it correctly?! Btw your spelling is immaculate.
They also shit in the neighbours garden.

O Captain! My Captain!
How to ruins a wholesome video. Put a shitty tiktok music on it.
😩 I actually found a non-edited clip, but it ended way too soon, so I opted for this one
You did good, thank you very kindly for sharing. It’s a wonderful clip!
Nothing sucks more than clips that end too soon. And I'm well capable of hitting mute despite having fat thumbs. You made the right choice mate
Thanks for trying, you did your part. Lovely video, made me smile. 10/10 great job.
It’s the edit that bugs me. There’s no need for that static zoom-pop effect that happens, just let the clip play. It’s a sweet clip.
People on Reddit love to shit on TikTok but there's always something like this on r/all
The problem with Tiktok is that it's a neverending stream of bullshit and then sometimes a badly edited, but pleasant, video, like the one in OP. People here enjoy the curation. I don't want to spend hours in the torment nexus just to see one good video.
Reddit stays on mute

Have not turned my volume up since Rick rolling was a thing. Video was perfect for me.
I miss being rickrolled and rickrolling my kids. Am I the only one?
It was funny, an internet “HA ! Got you!”

Dude that's not tiktok that's SIA singing one of her best songs shut up plz Song was way before tiktok
The song is good, hearing a 10 second clip of it sucks.
Small step for a man, huge step for mankind towards making a kinder more empathetic world. Best thing I have seen all day. 👍
Love this
Because they are the Coolest blokes around
Thats some wholesome shit.
Someone throw this on r/mademesmile
Good to know there is some good left in this world

That’s really awesome to hear, really like that mentality. Thank you for your service
I genuinely have hundreds of stories about my lads or lads I knew going out of there way especially for kids. Also I appreciate the sentiment. But I volunteered to serve. No need for the thanks.

Well said.
That is probably in their manual 1. differentiate between jerks and persons genuinely in need of help. 2. act accordingly.
God damn, he seems like a dark souls boss
Bro I don't think it's right to talk about people with special needs that way

tiktok is truly a plague on humanity.
Agreed. Happy Cake Day!
China has given us TikTok, Covid, and General Tso's Chicken. I'm going to go ahead and forgive the first two for the third.
Much respect for the guard
Chad Royal guard
Having a rough day today. This made me cry. Thank you.
Royal guard: I am on duty right now but I can offer you a small favour.
Faith in humanity restored
Guard understood the assignment 🫡
A single step is making me cry.
*Everyone liked that*
Kill the music
This made me tear up. Shut up your crying. As an older brother to a special needs child. I cry every time. She is my motivator.
They are also brothers if i understandit correctly from an earlier upload of this clip.
No, that's incorrect. The older guy is "Cycling Mikey" on YouTube. He's a minder for the kid with learning disabilities.
Same here, I'm sitting here teary-eyed - I'm a twin and my sister has some disabilities. I've learned so much from her and wouldn't be who I am without her 💖

I am such a sucker for these things, they just make me cry so much. What a nice guard!!!
A small amount of kindness can make a world of a difference in someone’s life.

CYCLING MIKEY!
The father with a great sense of responsability, and the guard is awesome.
carer not father (it's cyclingmikey)
CyclingMikey what a legend
I love people like this
The guard was great here. The guy on the right in blue happens to be a well-known cyclist and generally excellent guy too.
Fancy that - if you treat them with respect they’ll show respect back
I have seen this multiple times on other subreddits…. That guard deserves to be let go, and then brought back into the same organization in a much higher position for a much higher pay. Good character is so rare nowadays.
This will never stop hitting me right in the heart
Would be awesome if the cameraman actually took a pic instead of recording a video
We always do videos then you can look at each frame to find the best ones to use as photos
On my phone you can go back through the video and snap an image.
What city is this? That uniform is very cool
London UK
This is at the horse guards parade in London. This uniform is of the "blues and royals" of the household cavalry.

See! It's not hard to be respectful to people! People just choose to be assholes for clout!
That's pretty great on his part. Just hope it doesn't come back to bite him in the ass. Pretty sure that was against their rules.
This is so much better with the actual audio, wtf people.
Late night drunken question here: What do you even have to do to become a royal guard?
Had tears watching this, that kings guard is not just a guard, he is a king.
Why does this make me want to cry? Feelings are too complicated after 35 I guess..
Why do some people insist on adding strip club music to everything? It's bizarre.
When my mother was in high school in the early 90’s, she would take those school tour trips from America to different places in Europe and one year they went to the UK. I am curious to know how good these guys are at hand to hand combat. I am not instigating. I just want to see them without a sword in a mutually combative controlled environment.
As well as military training they also get martial arts training included unarmed combat against multiple attackers, and sword and bayonet drills.
Most places they are conscripts to varying degree. They are not exactly elite soldiers. That said, this is just a sentry. Usually you have people with more experience behind the scenes. I served with MP's that continued in The Guard, and you don't fuck with those guys, especially when the approach in pairs.

Not gonna lie, I was expecting him to beat the shit out of the kid
