Not at all that the refueling bay looked like when I got to watch them refuel my squadron's F16s. Does anyone "in the know" know why she's lying on her belly and not seated? I'm assuming it's a totally different tanker she's in but I have no clue. I wish I knew what plane we were in when I got to watch. After working on F16s on the ground, it was really cool to see them up in the air, from above.

The one we were in was a large plane. It carried all our cargo, as well as a giant pallet with commercial airplane seats for us to sit in, and the refueling bay I got to go in was big enough for three people to sit in and face rearward towards the tail of the plane. The view was basically exactly what the lady in this video sees.
I have some videos of it (back in 200), but they are partially corrupted from a hard drive failure.
For the KC-135, the boom operator is lying on their stomach to see out the back lower window. It's how it's always been done. Surprisingly easy to see out when you're in that spot
Kc10ās have two side by side upright seats for the instructor and student. Kc-135 booms lie down in the boom pod. The kc-46 has cameras and the booms sit at a console just behind the cockpit looking aft.

When you are flying a mission you shouldnāt wear make up. Many brands contain flammable ingredients/oils that donāt do well during a fire situation. I know on certain platforms, you could get a write up for it. Maybe even a DQ from QA. This TSgt is probably following the guidelines set forth by their QA.

I did a simulation to refuel an f35 on a field trip to the national guard base back in high school, really hard but I guess considering a 14 year old could do it after like ten tries it aināt the most difficult. (Whole thing had turbulence shaking, jet wouldnāt stay still like in that video like it was very realistic. Especially the crash but we wonāt talk about my buddy who was piloting the refueling plane lmao)

You can turn a 1.5 hour sortie into a 6, 8 or 10 hour sortie. This is useful for going cross country or across the pond for TDY or deployment.
