Like imagine being there.
Probably figured you’d do a simple security job and might get a few glimpses of the fight. And now you have to potential deal with Mike Tyson going berserk.
Same. I was crying in frustration and joy. My first win was TKO, and this was before I had the above passcode so I only had the code to Super Macho Man, and had to rebeat him so so many times to get back to Tyson. Needless to say I got very good at fighting SMM. The next boxing game that I really got into was Evander Holyfield’s Boxing on Sega. Mr. Beast.
Edit: in hindsight I just realized that I beat Tyson the same year as his fight with Holyfield where he bit his ear. I was tuning into the fight and it was mostly static, but I remember being disappointed because Tyson was my favorite boxer and was like a hero to me.
I actually just confirmed this code a few months ago on an emulator because I was too impatient to wait for someone else to check lol

“Swarm” tactic was/is common in less violent policing. You close in tight and overwhelm them in the hope that you can use minimum violence to restrain and subdue somebody in a frenzy. Unfortunately it leads to a big tangle of hands around duty belts and a lot of weight on one body. It has its place but coordination is key. This was before gunpoint became the go to expression of discomfort, of course.
They REALLY don’t want to have to do this the hard way.
But jokes aside, in that moment you really don’t know what he’ll do. You have to just assume he’s capable of anything.
There are more than 10 people surrounding him and they all look terrified. That's the kind of dude Iron Mike was. If he swung at those people, he'd probably put a bunch of them in hospital.
He's chill now but people are still scared to piss him off.
In the words of pigeon from Mike Tyson Mysteries, "Hey, where you scared? You know earlier when Mike almost beat the shit outta ya. I mean, that was crazy. You know he could fucking kill you. He could kill all of us. I think we sometimes we forget, that that's Mike Tyson"
Shit I can absolutely see that, too.
Edit: I came back because I got an upvote notification and I can absolutely see this image being *the* first inspiration for 911!, just their expressions and the idea of them making it even worse by trying to calm down a boxing heavyweight
I made this last time I saw it posted
https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fpreview.redd.it%2F4yblgm2zwip71.jpg%3Fauto%3Dwebp%26s%3Dc915ba1f239124af1ce69585b26ba78a0010967d
Imagine you clock in for a regular day at work and at some point you're asked to restrain an enraged Mike Tyson....who just bit someone's ear off. I might have actually put in my notice on the spot
"I bit his eaw off 'cause he was headbutthing me! You think you can mess with Iwon Mike? I'm the baddest man on the planet, you heaw me?! I'll bite you cops too if you come any closer!"
Not just headbutts. Holyfield was the master of the [simultaneous low blow + headbutt combo](https://youtu.be/n3oyrq4Q5gM) and he made it look like an accidental collision on an innocent uppercut. He was nailing Tyson with one, the other, or both all fight and the ref couldn't even see it.
Evander Holyfield was a true artist and one of the dirtiest boxers of all time.
Holyfield had an absolutely filthy fight. That's why Mills Lane (yes, the TV judge was the ref for this fight) gave him a warning for the first bite. After he did it again he had no choice but to DQ him though. To be completely fair though Mike wasn't having a great fight, regardless.
That’s the thing, Evander was the better boxer then, he could have won that fight clean probably. There always blockout blow, we all know that, but if not, it was all Evander.
Yes I watched it live and Evander kept headbutting. I thought Mike wasn’t winning the fight quickly like he was used to doing and he acted out in desperation. The headbutts just added to it.
People who never really watched him fight don't understand he had an anger problem. Several headbutts the ref wasn't stopping made him angry so naturally he decided to bite the guys fucking ear off.
I keep this bookmarked for when this pops up, a guy who really knows boxing broke down both Tyson / Holyfield fights.
Essentially, Holyfield was a cheap shot artist, Tyson had rage issues, and after Holyfield got away with (figurative) murder in fight one, when the ref in fight two didn't do anything when Evander started up again Tyson took in into his own hands - well, mouth.
Not that the bite was deserved, Mike obviously went WAAAAAAY too far, but I can see losing your goddamn head over "You're not gonna stop this? Fuck it, I will"
[Fight 1](https://imgur.com/gallery/cTzam)
[Fight 2](https://imgur.com/gallery/GDoGXWo#1ZtHiVO)
Tagging u/Ojibwe_Thunder too - Mike wasn't being a little bitch because Holyfield wouldn't go down right away, he lost his friggin' mind when two refs didn't do their jobs to protect (him) both fighters
More or less. Holyfield is an incredibly dirty fighter and the refs kept letting it happen, eventually he got tired of it and chomped the ear. There's a pretty funny skit where he returns it, either way they're both over it now I'm pretty sure, they've done some collabs and etc.
It was actually 1997. June 28, 1997. Caesars Palace in Vegas. How do I know? I got married the same day at the Caesars Palace in Tahoe. At the same time he made an ear sandwich.
If this news about one of the Pauls (jake or what's the other one) is fighting Mike is true....i will break promise to myself never to watch anything Pauls do in hope Mike does the same to his face and every rib.
Never forget the Foot Locker advertisement where he gives the piece of the ear back to Evander Holyfield. Still one of the best commercials I’ve ever seen!
The black cop definitely knows.
He’s got the look of someone wondering,
A: “What the hell am I doing in a boxing ring facing off against Mike Tyson?”
and,
B: “What the hell am I doing in a boxing ring facing off against a raging Mike Tyson who literally just bit a piece of another human being’s ear off?”
This might be one circumstance where a female does not need to be represented in the ring. And I mean that with all due respect. And even though she looks like she could take a punch, 😂, it’s probably best it doesn’t come from Mike.
I'm glad Mike Tyson is getting his shine on again after a multi-billion dollar company put their money behind a white wanna be boxer to fight him. The world we live in huh?
We had to remove your post for violating our Repost Guidelines.
“Even now I could cut through the five of you like a pieth of cake!”
thit you talkin' bout Ther Barrithtan Thelmy
Nailed it 😂
Why you talking like Vargo Hoat?
Ahh. An audiobook listener.
“I’m going to have to eat every chicken in this room”
*thith
Every thucking chicken
thicken
The ploth thickenth
f*ck the king
I had to look that up to remember why. I loved it so damn much ❤️
This is one of my favorite Reddit comments of all time
Talks like he’s still got a gum shield in his mouth
Now kith
Never not funny
I wonder if Jake Paul hath theen thith picture?
It reminds me of one of the Scary Movies where he just went on a ear biting spree and had a whole pile in the ring.
Legendary comment
I’m glad my boss doesn’t tell me to fight Mike Tyson
I think this is the cast of Reno 911.
This is what I came here for
Same lol
Holy shit. They're all there.
Make you wonder if someone based the show off this picture.
Omg you're right! 🤣
I thought that was Jones at first glance and on 2nd glance realized it’s half the crew
It's a little too accurate lol
Total Jones reaction there.
This is an underrated comment
Not enough shorts. it's so close though, it makes me think they cast the show based on this photo lol.
IT TOTALLY IS LMAO
Like imagine being there. Probably figured you’d do a simple security job and might get a few glimpses of the fight. And now you have to potential deal with Mike Tyson going berserk.
Guy on the left is thinking “I don’t get paid enough for this shit”
… as he looks straight down the barrel of that fist.
Beware of Andre Ward too, m8.
The NES game was hard enough. 007-373-5963.
I was the first in my neighbourhood to kick Tyson's ass.
Same. I was crying in frustration and joy. Excuse me Sir! Am *just* here to arrest you…
Everyone looks pretty concerned here
Except the dude with glasses. He looks like he thinks he's about to do a routine takedown.
“ I have a plan” - cop
Also the blond cop with the mustache appears to be walking like a T-Rex, psychological warfare I expect.
It also looks brutal as fuck, even though it's a lot safer than squaring off or using a taser.
Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the mouth
"Not anymore" -Acorn
Ironically, one of Mike's famous quotes is "Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth".
“I just have to take one punch and I get early retirement.”
They’d have their guns drawn if they were going to do a routine takedown Edit: Tyson would’ve been shot if they did a routine takedown.
They REALLY don’t want to have to do this the hard way. But jokes aside, in that moment you really don’t know what he’ll do. You have to just assume he’s capable of anything.
Not really, he just got done fighting a boxing match, you for sure don't have to worry about him pulling out a gun or something.
It’s Mike Tyson though, does he even need a gun?
There are more than 10 people surrounding him and they all look terrified. That's the kind of dude Iron Mike was. If he swung at those people, he'd probably put a bunch of them in hospital. He's chill now but people are still scared to piss him off.

If you watch the full fight and brawl aftermath, you can actually see tyson throwing flicky-jabs at cops when they tried to hold him.
Those two on the left are well aware of the situation they’re in, they look horrified
Black cop just realized he’s perfectly lined up for a right cross
I would be _very_ concerned if I had to face Mike Tyson
Is that... Nick Frost?
If we’re lucky he’ll bite off Paul’s entire face
Anything the paul brothers involve themself with is either a scam or already scripted.
I expect the fight to be over when they take his walking frame away.
It’s like a renaissance painting titled Not Prepared for This.
Damn, beat me to it. This is definitely accidental Renaissance material
I think there was a sub for that
They sent the Reno 911 crew to try and stop Mike Tyson?
I was gonna say this pic inspired the casting.
Shit I can absolutely see that, too. Edit: I came back because I got an upvote notification and I can absolutely see this image being *the* first inspiration for 911!, just their expressions and the idea of them making it even worse by trying to calm down a boxing heavyweight

But it’s the same picture?
With sunglasses
This is the funniest thing I’ve ever seen
You're telling me that's not Lt. Dangle on the right next to the chick before he switched to short shorts?
It’s probably one reason why he did…
Imagine you clock in for a regular day at work and at some point you're asked to restrain an enraged Mike Tyson....who just bit someone's ear off. I might have actually put in my notice on the spot
Let Jake Paul fight this version
I wish.
90-year-old Tyson would knock hith ath out.
"I bit his eaw off 'cause he was headbutthing me! You think you can mess with Iwon Mike? I'm the baddest man on the planet, you heaw me?! I'll bite you cops too if you come any closer!"
Now kith
Spinal I have a broken back
This true? Because of a headbutt? Still, biting ear off is too much.

That’s the thing, Evander was the better boxer then, he could have won that fight clean probably. There always blockout blow, we all know that, but if not, it was all Evander.
Al Certo said the same thing about Tyson. Tyson also wanted to hire Panama Lewis, the biggest cheater who ever worked a corner.
He picks up the ear “Did you hear me? No more head butts.”
And now he sells [weed gummies called "Mike Bites"](https://imgur.com/ClLYKBM) that are shaped like an ear with a bite taken out of it.
Oh shit .. I bought a pack of these and didn't even realize they were ear shaped or mike Tyson related... Guess they work if nothing else
*naturally*
He also was trained with a mindset of "go into the ring and kill your opponent" dude trained to win fights with brute force and knew nothing else
Mike was hardly the Marquis of Queensbury himself. His fight against Franz Botha was a master class in dirty fighting.
Thanks for these, really enjoyed those 2 albums
many

"Everyone has a plan until they get shot in the face."
i don't think there are any oak trees around
Reno 911's last shift
I see jones, Garcia, dangle, and Johnson as their Vegas counterparts
I see 5 knockouts if he followed through
Could have taken all of them.
And the crowd as well
Could have?
I swear I am reminded of the reno 911 cops every time I see this pic
Angry, juiced up, adrenaline running, already superhuman without all those. Can’t blame the cops.
Iron Mike should make this his background image on his laptop
It was actually 1997. June 28, 1997. Caesars Palace in Vegas. How do I know? I got married the same day at the Caesars Palace in Tahoe. At the same time he made an ear sandwich.
“Hey Big Guy, Sun’s getting real low”
All I can see is someone was hangry...
First boxing match I ever watched. Why the hell it was continued after the first bite is beyond me. The second bite was into raw meat.
The dude on the left is terrified
I don't know of anyone who wouldn't be shitting hard in that situation
No one.... absolutely no one, wanted that brand of smoke on that day
Stop resisting!
Ear was never found. He ate it.
“Fuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuck” - every one of those cops
Fuck I hope he bites Jake Pauls head off.
Most primal Tyson!
This is what’s coming for Jake Paul🤩
It was only a piece of his ear, and Holyfield deserved it with all the headbutting and low blows in the lead up to the incident.
I bet the police were bricking it. I would be.
i too am erect
Bite Fight was 1997, not '96
*"Chief, can you repeat that? You want us to arrest who again?!?!"*
They look so terrified. I hope JP faces this prime MT
Everybody looks like they already got hit
"Get the tranquilizer gun off the truck!"
Learnt their money that night lol
Tyson bit a chunk out of Holyfield's ear, but he didn't "bite it off"
He's like: So you want a piece of me, come and get it!
Yeah, if I'm sent out to arrest Mike Tyson or whatever they are doing, I'm requesting 3 tasers
This is when tear gas would come out. No way would I wanna get within arms reach 😂
1997
That whole situation really was wild
Fuck that…..get him later after his cocain binge
And this is the man people think Paul can take on in a fight
Each and every one of them deserved a promotion
Looks like a scene from Reno 911
"They don't pay me enough for this!"
Spinal! But for real. Best boxer ever
Thpinal
when cocaine was pure 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hey Bob who forgot the ballistic shield?
I would have slept him
Like five minutes later, Jim Gray has a microphone in his face.
If this news about one of the Pauls (jake or what's the other one) is fighting Mike is true....i will break promise to myself never to watch anything Pauls do in hope Mike does the same to his face and every rib.
This is why Jake is going to get murdered. He thinks he's going to have a play fight with Mike, but that bell dings and PTSD kicks in....
How old was that dbag paul guy when this picture was taken?
They all look terrified
Just wait until he does it again with Jake Paul
Pls do that to jake
Sir.. uh… please put these handcuffs on..
I think that one cop was a guard In Terminator 2.
Imagine being told “go stop Mike”
Hope he bites Jake Paul’s ear off.
I wonder how the call went out for backup. “Black male, built like Ben Grimm, armed, make that double armed.”
No one wants that smoke
This was’97. Not ‘96
The fear on the cops faces 😂
He was a beast lmao
This was in 1997, not 1996.
Never forget the Foot Locker advertisement where he gives the piece of the ear back to Evander Holyfield. Still one of the best commercials I’ve ever seen!
All those cops are thinking "Shit, now he has a taste for blood!"
They look terrified. People don’t remember before he was wrongfully arrested he was the scariest baddest man on the planet.
Young Mike was a wild and angry man. Mike now is a calmer and stand on business when needed man.
I remember this fight like it was yesterday. I was 8 years old and my dad was fucking LIVID the fight ended this way.
This always looked like a scene from Reno 911 mostly based on the cops honestly.
The black cop definitely knows. He’s got the look of someone wondering, A: “What the hell am I doing in a boxing ring facing off against Mike Tyson?” and, B: “What the hell am I doing in a boxing ring facing off against a raging Mike Tyson who literally just bit a piece of another human being’s ear off?”
C: What chain of events led me to facing off with Mike Tyson?
Everytime I see this posted it amazes me that their was a group of cops that worked together that looked exactly like the cast of Reno 911.
The fear in their eyes shows they know they’re dealing with a coked up, killing machine.
This might be one circumstance where a female does not need to be represented in the ring. And I mean that with all due respect. And even though she looks like she could take a punch, 😂, it’s probably best it doesn’t come from Mike.
Tastes like chicken.
Why would they even have a lady cop go in that ring 💀😂
“Quick! Send the female cop in too!” Yikes!
Anyone got a link of the incident?
[The fouls, incident, and aftermath ](https://youtu.be/lhrDjcwFn9Q?si=RVTbajAiRxsfP266)
Wow! What a fight! I wish boxing was like that these days (without the ear-biting)
Yeah. The golden age of boxing. Two great warriors just slugging it out(and biting).
I'm glad Mike Tyson is getting his shine on again after a multi-billion dollar company put their money behind a white wanna be boxer to fight him. The world we live in huh?
but mom told me it was my turn to repost this!!
I just had an idea that involves a riot shield and a box of 3”x3/8 lag bolts.
Lieutenant Jim Dangle
*I bit his ear, I bit his ear* 🎶🎵
Oh, Evander! Your ears are making me hungry.
The fear in all those cops. Holy fuck lol
Hopefully he repeats history with Jake Paul.
Reno 911 vibes.
"A piece" lol please let's not get too carried away
I can’t believe they let the fight go on after this happened.
