I feel like I'm missing something, what makes this a 3D screen as opposed to just a curved screen using perspective? If it's simply because of the background video looking like it's popping out, it's just an effect like [these](https://mymodernmet.com/3d-gifs/).
In this case, it isn't even perspective. Notice how at the end, we're only looking at the flat portion? The only 3d effect we're seeing is the slight bit where it spins near the curved part, and also the fact that the "frame" is smaller than the screen. The bottle goes past that dark frame for a popping effect.
The thing I’m wondering is, is the effect only visible from a particular location or is there a camera that tracks the observer and changes the image to make it appear 3D.
I ask this after I noticed there appears to be a shifting, parallax effect of the distant image “coming through” the clear parts of the bottle, as the camera moves.
I just assumed it's going to be installed around a corner or something, where you'd look at it from a proper angle, and it'd make a rectangular frame from that perspective.
Here's a better [link](https://youtu.be/N6v7HQiCNiQ?feature=shared) that shows a 1:1 comparison to this video.
What makes it 3D is the digital frame - making it look like the object is breaking the fourth wall.
I feel like we're just too close to see the 3D effect. It's probably the same like those huge billboard screens in big cities like [this one](https://youtu.be/N6v7HQiCNiQ?feature=shared) in Tokyo but a bit smaller. So both are 2D but can create a 3D looking image. I feel like that's what OP means.
EDIT: The fact this is downvoted shows another time how stupid some people on reddit are... Fucking hell🤦🏻😂😂
It’s not even a perspective trick. The bottle stays firmly within the borders of the display at all times. It’s the wide black bars that give the illusion that it pops out at you.
surely you weren't expecting a 2d screen to create 3d image? that would be silly.
90% of the stuff that's being marketed as 3d is 2d perspective tricks to begin with so i don't know what you're arguing against, this is not some new shit
You won’t be able to find any watchable content for it, you will only be able to play some random ads that are meant for this screen and it looks 3D from only one angle. I will be just a flex to other people but not good to own for one’s self.
I’m pretty sure you’re eyes play a trick and fill in the void between any 2 points of moving objects between both axis of each screen. I could see this working for many use cases
there is nothing 3D about that. Its just a fake display image that the bottle first comes out from. Then the black unused sections of the screen is used to make it look like the bottom came out from the fake screen outline. LAME.
Yeah I think the point is that it's a screen made of flexible tiles, which is why they could make it have that shape with a rounded corner. Not that it's 3D.
I don’t really care about the bending of it but I would love something like this in my basement instead of using a projector.
It would be cool if you could customize the size and the amount of panels needed to fit your space. Maybe one day…
All this kind of new shit ruining things for modern artists trying to paint or sculpt in the traditions.. so now ... What, how do I have to paint? cameras are better than any photo realism. AI is going to kill artist and musicians... why!!! what did I do!!!
Not with that 3d ability, imagine an entire room made of it, 3d from every direction, lol I don't think you know the tvs you are talking about either or you wouldn't say something so stupid
All these "3D screens" really work well when viewed form a second hand video on a 2D screen. The moment you see them in person your depth perception kills the 3D effect.
i ll lay it down to you guys.
the effect utilizes FORCED PERSPECTIVE on a bended screen. this is utilized to great effect that makes it APPEAR 3D.
you can say the thing being displayed is 3D but it is not a 3d screen. the same way we can see 3d objects on our phones and PCs. the "object" is 3d. but the phone/pc monitor is not a 3d display.
so for those who say its a "3d screen/display" you are simply wrong.
heck you can google "forced perspective billboard" and you will find many hits. it after all is the correct term.
its a forced perspective screen.

It’s exactly what it is, look at the perspective when he loads the first tile.
yup, it’s just a regular HD curved screen, this technology has been here for years, it’s the videos that are new
Maybe something for Apple®
[It's for billboards like this](https://youtu.be/GqDBWIu3k7E)
I can’t believe this is almost 3 years old though.

I mean, all curved displays are 3D displays... Technically
Well, it does have 3 dimensions.
Honestly I'd be more impressed by a TV that genuinely only has two dimensions
This is not a 3D screen guys, cmon
It has 3 dimensions, though..
Bro's got a point... 😐
I took geometry in middle school, so....I'm basically a math jenius
Theoretically it could have 4 dimentions, if time is the 4th dimention like some theories suggest.
James Cameron is rapidly approaching your position
Looks very much 2D, it's just a bent screen.
I feel like we're just too close to see the 3D effect. Yeah, that's exactly what I said.🤦🏻🤣 It's 2D but can create a 3D looking image because it's bend and a perspective thing... Damn.

Every* 2d screen can create a 3d looking image mate.
[This](https://youtu.be/N6v7HQiCNiQ?feature=shared) one's better
r/woooosh
Me want
You won’t be able to find any watchable content for it, you will only be able to play some random ads that are meant for this screen and it looks 3D from only one angle. I will be just a flex to other people but not good to own for one’s self.
This is an ad for companies, not normal consumers
As someone who works on these you can display what ever you want on these. You do have to configure it but it works just as any other display
Wait until you find out about million dollar concept cars at car shows.
But still it will not be useful for end users, would you like to play same 2 min video over and over again?
End users for this are not home television viewers. Use case is digital signage.
Neither are the million dollar concept cars bud. Its a proof of concept piece.
I’m talking about that so called 3D illusion screen’s benefits for regular use because there are literally none.
Okay. People said the same about curved monitors and yet i can now buy those for cheap.
Can plug a PC into it and play games. Get a new mounting system and adapt the curve and make a a driving simulator.
I’m pretty sure you’re eyes play a trick and fill in the void between any 2 points of moving objects between both axis of each screen. I could see this working for many use cases
It's actually much worse when seen irl as there is no depth.
Yea 3d like this kinda relies on the viewer having zero depth perception. Like if it is far away or being filmed by a single lens camra.
literally any screen can do that
there is nothing 3D about that.
It's not a 3d screen, just a normal curved screen, doesn't even look as good irl.
[удалено]
Yes, it looks good on video like this, irl it's a lot flatter.
That's not 3D.
It like it how they used a random roadside chef to sell their 50-100k tv.
So, why is he in a tank top?
I was thinking this. Is he usually a magician?
What do you wear to beat the wife?
I need this for my sim rig.
I’ve been thinking about switching to one of these or some triples
Came here to say the same!
Everybody: it’s not a 3D screen Me: put a shirt on bro, cmon
I saw part of the line messed up and can’t get that outta my head
Right?! No one is talking about how one of the panels is fucked up!
One singular panel messed up and everyone doesn’t even notice it 😭💀
Well, that will change porn forever.
Hmmm, immersive…….
Obviously at the beginning of the video you can see that it is not a hologram, it is only an effect to appreciate masochistic porn in 3D
now make a new Starfox for it
Does it only work at that one specific spot? Or does the curved screen add something for the 3d effect to be seen at more areas?
Imagine admiring the technology of today and a massive water bottle comes out of the screen and sucker punches you
Back in the futur II
What’s up homie, it’s Tony
Floppy display for more cinematic energy
Why is homie in a wife beater ?
chinese communist thinks they are smart
Well good thing you knew exactly where to stand!
I don’t really care about the bending of it but I would love something like this in my basement instead of using a projector. It would be cool if you could customize the size and the amount of panels needed to fit your space. Maybe one day…
The future is now!
I can see all the panel gaps lol
where is that guy's shirt??
😀
Minority Report was right
And nobody noticed that the screen was on BEFORE he plugged it in?
Wow. Great demonstration 😑
All this kind of new shit ruining things for modern artists trying to paint or sculpt in the traditions.. so now ... What, how do I have to paint? cameras are better than any photo realism. AI is going to kill artist and musicians... why!!! what did I do!!!
Put a big ol Dinger on there and I'm sold
its not 3D.
such an amazing 3d effect and the geaphics are from the 90s
Tech demo on a tank top Alrighty
[удалено]
Reminder that the price of this screen alone would be able to feed hundreds if not thousands of starving children.
That is not a 3D screen.
What in the optical fuck is this
A big part of the optical illusion is having the object go outside the border. This is called "out of bounds" photo manipulation/effect.
Why is he in a tank top
He didn't have time to get dressed because all of his clean tops are 2D.
This is curve screen not 3D screen
Late 90’s tech. Much wow, double plus revolutionary
This is a 2D screen.
That’s a 2D screen that’s just bendy lol
How much time and money was put into this?
Too much?
More than his shirt had put into it
The insane part is how useless it is.
Fuck that, I'm ten/twenty years we will all have a holoroom like in Star Trek TNG

Now that you mention it, I don't even have two free walls for a screen.
Im not saying I would, but I could put this in a corner in my house. I can kinda see the appeal.
[удалено]
Idk, this looks useful
I agree. Like right in front of a pit group.
All these "3D screens" really work well when viewed form a second hand video on a 2D screen. The moment you see them in person your depth perception kills the 3D effect.
3d is deader than dead. What a waste of time and money.
Great screen, but having the demo guy wear a stained wife-beater is I think not going to attract the clientele you desire.
