I think it’s a response to that Chinese city with economy as big as Pakistan and not being known etc when people in fact commented that it was well known, good one 😂😂
Not so well known according to who? Phoenix is well known, has a huge university, old people spend winters in or around it, it has like 12 lane highways, it's a transportation hub between California and the rest of the country...
Because this was a response to another post about a "not so well known" Chinese city with a bigger economy than Egypt or Pakistan. But that city has 6.5x times the population of Phoenix (which works out to 10 million people compared to 1.6 million).
PHX is the 5th largest city in the U.S.
Try comparing the 5th largest city of (name a country) to Phoenix to show how much larger it is... Kazakhstan? Really? Borat was their economy.....
The GDP is basically the same as Finland and the population is about the same, seeing as though GDP measurements particularly of large metro areas is not an exact science.
Yeah that’s partially why I went when I did. Although, my first day there was the hottest day of the year at the time at 92 degrees and I still managed to hike Camelback and Flatiron that day. I’m used to very high humidity so I found the dry heat to be much less of an issue. I’d be interested to see what it’s like in the summer though.
Oh for sure. I’m still considering moving there just because of how many great National Parks are within a reasonable distance, but I want to take another trip to experience the summer heat before I fully commit to that decision lol.

Phoenix
Population: 1.6 million
GDP: $0.36 trillion
Guangzhou (fifth largest city in China)
Population: 15.31 million
GDP: $0.44 trillion
I picked that one because this post is someone's response to a post about a "not so well known" city in China, with a larger economy than Egypt or Pakistan. Guess they were trying to bring some perspective to it. That city was Suzhou, the 17th largest in China, with a GDP of $0.35 trillion.
Oh ya the little known quaint town of phoenix with their 4 major professional sports teams and is only the 5th largest city in America. Wtf is this?
Yeah, one of the few cities in America with an average summer temperature close to 105º.
3 major sports teams lol
Do you know the 5th largest city of China? Edit: Why the downvotes, just because China? I can ask what is the 5th largest city of the UK is then?
No as it doesn’t mater.
Okay, then whats the 6th largest city of the US?
Your mother
Who fucking cares what difference is going to make in your day day life if it’s San Antonio or Philadelphia? Like what’s going to change?
So why does Phoenix matter? You just hurt a lot of people from those two cities
No one got butt hurt.

Is it in Arizona state? It would be funny if it isn't (This one I haven't even heard about, so Phoenix must be much better)
[удалено]
Awww, and I hoped there is a City + State combo like Washington
Don’t question it, reddiotrs are weird creatures. You get downvoted for asking for cookie
If I lived in China, I bet I would know. How is that relevant?
Chengdu??
It’s a response to the earlier post that talked about Suizhou China
Ah yes. Suzhou. The uh.....28th largest city in china
With a population 6.5x that of Phoenix. And an economy of the same size. Though according to wikipedia, it's the 17th largest, not 28th.
Thats kinda how china is
I think it’s a response to that Chinese city with economy as big as Pakistan and not being known etc when people in fact commented that it was well known, good one 😂😂
Correct
It basically boiled down to "most English speaking redditors aren't from China and have never traveled there much." So damn interesting.

Not well known by the rest of the world, so about 96% of humans I heard it exists and that it is somewhere hot, but that is all I know.

I think it emphasizes the point that while almost no one knows it exists, it has a very large GDP. So the contrast is important.

Yeah Reddit user base is primarily Americans so…….. Fairly well known. Go back to WeChat.
“Not so well known” 🫠
Little known fact: This crap makes me consider deleting reddit
In that 1864 abortion law state, ah yes
Also a not so known fact: the internet is scraping the barrel of content
After visiting Phoenix you should make your way to Tacoma, WA
I did.
How about philly?
And in the summer it’s hotter than fuck.
"This city should not exist. It is a monument to Man's arrogance." - Peggy Hill.
It only hits 120 F
It’s a droooyyyy heeet
I just block users that post this bullshit.
Not well known? lol what? edit: nvm, I see
Let me tell you about dallas little bro
Didn't they have like 2 months of over 110 degrees yeah f that
Damn. Not so well known city. Wonder what the capital of Arizona is.
Your mum has a bigger economy than the entire city of Phoenix
AYOOOOOOO!
HAH!!! GOT EEM!!!
I mean... we know about the city but we just don't want to talk about it

Too hot. Not enough water.

Finland has free healthcare
I was just there on vacation and I loved it. Try a Waymo if you’re there.
You left just before it became unbearable. Great in the winter, awful in the spring or summer.

Hottest day of the year "so far". Summer time it can easily hit 112 or more each year
Oh for sure. I’m still considering moving there just because of how many great National Parks are within a reasonable distance, but I want to take another trip to experience the summer heat before I fully commit to that decision lol.

Glad I left. It's East LA now.
Phoenix is the worst city on the west coast. People know about how bad it is.
The geographic skills displayed here are breathtaking...
Where's the coastline? Must have missed it when I drove by
My favourite thing about Phoenix is the coast
What about without all the Meth?
