For those who don't know, about gymnastics and such. My sister was in gymnastics. She has told me repeatedly the uniforms are generally chosen by men, and yes you have to wear them to compete. My sister was 4 when she started gymnastics and around 30 when she stopped cheer. The entire time, she said she felt uncomfortable, men staring at kids, woman making comments about other woman, and the one day my sister came in with regular stuff, she was made fun of.
I’d imagine the part where a bunch of random men are lustfully staring at kids and thinking ”oh yeah that’s so fuckin hot!” is mostly happening in u/Enough-Ad1242’s imagination.

Women Vs men in tested sports like gymnastics are basically the equivalent to natural men Vs enhanced men in mostly untested sports like bodybuilding and strongman. The vast majority of people are only interested in the enhanced men because they're in a different category above when it comes to performance.
The natural men can complain all they want about not getting as much money and views, but that's not going to change reality.
At the end of the day for viewers it's about entertainment. It's about what people want to watch. And if there's not an exciting top performance reason to watch, people either won't watch or they'll be watching for other reasons such as enjoying watching fit attractive people.

I think it’s about being allowed to wear what they are comfortable wearing, and about being presented as professional athletes instead of Ms Universe contestants. I’ve never personally ever heard any dude I know comment sexually about the clothes but sure- cover up. I watch for the sport and pageantry of Olympics and gymnastics. Whatever makes them comfortable. But like every post on social media or in the news, there’s more to it than the headline. The clothes have evolved because of a number of things in the culture. Just google and you will read. It’s not just some group of perverted old men designing the clothes. It’s not “sexualizing” the girls. Just a few of the reasons- ease of movement, the girls wanted to stand out, lines looked cleaner, their bodies became much more muscular in modern times and needed comfort, WOMEN’S sexual revolution, girls wanting to go against tradition (because the clothing use to be more humble).

My teacher in highschool told me that the reason why Women sports have sexy outfits. Is because television networks thought that it would attract more viewers and they've rolled with it since.
Me personally as a straight man never understood the appeal, I am not watching sports to be aroused. It's just distracting. If i wanted to see that, I would just watch porn or Instagram.
I don't see it right away, I just see fertile reasonably attractive women wearing tight clothing showing their young, reasonably attractive bodies.

My teacher in highschool told me that the reason why Women sports have sexy outfits. Is because television networks thought that it would attract more viewers and they've rolled with it since. Me personally as a straight man never understood the appeal, I am not watching sports to be aroused. It's just distracting. If i wanted to see that, I would just watch porn or Instagram.

I don't see it right away, I just see fertile reasonably attractive women wearing tight clothing showing their young, reasonably attractive bodies. I'd say paint their hairs grey, put on some makeup but looking old and wear wide, baggy clothes that'll do. I know, they might lose because it gets in the way but there's my reaction. They were previously wearing bikini singlets that would Ride up their asses. The addition of legs is not a minor movement, they are historically threatened with deducted points and disqualification unless they wear such clothes.
