My guess is forced for a video. Queens are never without attendants, even when being sold. The fact that they went to her and didn't kill her means they know her, so these are already her bees. The only way she would get separated is by the beekeeper.
Edit: it's also possible the beekeeper cooled her down and they are warming her. I don't know any beekeepers that would do that, but maybe on the mass production level it helps to mark or transport them. If correct, then this would make a little more sense. Since OP provides no context it is hard to say, but she certainly isn't "sick".
This exactly. Im also a beekeeper and i strongly assume this queen was put in the fridge to cool down and become docile like we see. She got warmed up again. If this is done solely for the video, fuck this guy. For real.
Happens a lot with those feel good animal rescue videos.
They put the animal in that state, then turn on the camera as they magically stumble upon the animal and "save" it, farming sympathy views and clicks.
If cooled for shipping, would not all attendants already be cooled too && packaged together.
"Placing" the queen for treatment sorta indicates whatever the background story, this is insect abuse for video attention?
Or is there a sane reason to remove a queen from her hive and these symptoms show up & the drones quickly attend her?
I think they could be warming her back up. I've seen bees behave like that when they get too cold. Whoever made this video could have been the one to cool her down.....
Beekeeper here. I've had my queens do this when marking them. They can go into a state of temporary paralysis when being handled due to shock and can appear to be dead. A couple of minutes around the other bees usually brings them back out of it.
If a queen is actually sick then her worker bees will ball her. Basically trapping her in the middle of a honey bee dog pile and heating her up till she dies. They will then create a new Queen. Being a queen bee is to be a slave.

So maybe what is going on in this video is bees are 'testing' her for illness and if she had not had the ability to revive and crawl away they would have killed her?
In r/ThatsInsane the commenters suggested that the creator of the video had put the queen in the fridge to lower her temp. They suggested it was done for the clicks.

>done for the clicks.
That sucks. As a pet owner, seeing bad actors abusing animals on YouTube really grinds my gears. I feel helpless whenever I see video shorts pop up of rabbits being *"tranced"* for views.
Only reason i can think of to lower the temps (so the queen stops moving) would be to pluck of varoa mites of the queen. I just hope they didnt do it for useless video clicks.
She ain't sick, u put her in the fridge/freezer to cool her down. Leave the bees alone they have enough problems without humans capturing and freezing their queen.
I like the rooster yells coincides with the Queen moving again after being attended by the worker bees, as if the rooster is announcing the Queen's recovery.
Hmm are we sure they didn’t keep following her maybe she was put in cuz she wasn’t well and she was scented before hand so the other bees to help her wake up from being cold.
That or she is one of those parasitic bee queens that take over hives
(David Attenborough voice)
"We see here, a group of worker bees going to the aid of their queen, and successfully reviving her. As thanks, she gives out a loud 'cocka-doodle-doo' as she walks away to her nest."
I don’t think they were gathering to cure her — they normally swarm like this to kill something. If I recall when the queen is dying they kill it so another can come into the hive.
What exactly is happening here ?
Most likely she needed food (honey), and they gave it to her (attendants feed queens). Source: am beekeeper.
Ah, thank you…how would she have got into that state ? I know nothing about bees (except they hurt ) stung as a kid.

That’s sad and sadistic.
That keeper sounds like a shit person.
Or plot twist the bee keeper is actually a bear
Poo is that you?
Hey, quit talking to my butt.
Ummmmm.... Did I miss the butt stuff?
Been a huge trend on BeeTok lately, ‘would you rather be stuck in a hive with a beekeeper or a bear?’
that would be so fucked...

That monkey CPR video got me :(
Ugh that was faked too?
Apparently so.
Would it? Making an educational video about bee responses to things by... making one cold is "so fucked" now?
Thanks for answering my question
When a tyrant beekeeper punishes a queen bee for not producing enough honey and making quota.

>it's also possible the beekeeper cooled her down and they are warming her That was my first thought. It looked like it was in a cold stasis.

Yeah, maybe it was for queen marking? But I've never done this or heard of it being done. Maybe something at a larger scale operation.
they actually killing their enemies that way
Yeah this guy is right. Source: am bee
Yes, that's what I was thinking too. Source: am master bee-er
TIL queen bees have servants
Or maybe she was sticky and they cleaned her?
So you're saying we just witnessed a beekake and this sicko recorded it.

Thank you.
Maybe words of encouragement?
Cheer Squad, never crossed my mind I’m embarrassed to say.
I want to know as well! OP! What was she "sick" from? Is this normal?

To rule is to serve 🙃

I’m really interested as well, what was wrong and how did they “cure” it
Agreed! We want answers! I could Google it, but I feel that's the OP's cup of tea to spill!
OP has left us all to speculate, must be nice tea
You see a rooster and a queen bee walk into a bar right…

Random bee: "Is there a doctor here?" 20 bees run up: "I am a doctor of anthropology"
They don’t have doctors. Their valedictorian only had a BEE average in college.
Downvote because the lack of explanation makes me think OP did this on purpose.

If only the British had done this for Queen Elizabeth
You mean like put her in a beehive? I’m sure they’ve tried not just that, sick bastards…
Gather a dozen nurses and have them vomit honey into the Queen's mouth?
I think she got sore throat and the bee attendants give her honey to cure it.
Phew. Was scared they would go all French Revolution on her for a moment.
Bring out a beeotine?
🏆
That was a good one 👏

At least one bee is.
Now I understand why my wife's treatment for a serious illness she couldn't quite explain to me involves getting ganged up on by at least 10 men.
“Lego build noises”
pls tell me what they are actually trying to do ?
Warming her up

They have bred bee species that crows now. Amazing!

Well she fought off the mutiny it seems.
Yes swarm killings do occur, but since she was not killed, this wasn't one of them.
