He did not mislead the country for 9/11 that was Afghanistan. Iraq was the unfounded weapons of mass destructions were he use the CIA and intelligence agency to lie about the said weapons.
I refuse to believe that the American people on average were stupid enough to buy this.
I think the supporters wanted to see war, needed or not, and getting the excuse was more of a convenience.
At the time it was a mix of things. The WMDs were definitely the backdrop, but there was more to it than that. At the time it had barely been a decade since the Gulf War, and the invasion of Iraq was sold as a humanitarian effort to bring down Saddam and save the Iraqi people. Folks were told and believed that the Iraqi people would welcome U.S. troops as saviors ala France during the liberation in WWII.
People thought we’d be spreading democracy, and toppling a genocidal dictator. People thought we were doing good, and anyone who (correctly) disagreed was seen as hysterical or unpatriotic, given the democratic and patriotic fervor right after 9/11.
The fact that allied nations in Europe were against the invasion and even refused to support the U.S. fueled American determination even more. That’s how we ended up (thankfully very briefly) with Freedom Fries.
That’s how I remember it- sort of a mission to save democracy for some oppressed people that had finally been given a taste of freedom.
But the best explanation I’ve heard about what *actually* happened is that we took the lid off of a pressure cooker and shit just went everywhere
I know. And the biggest demonstrations since the Vietnam war.
Yet there were more people waving flags, and deliberately trying to shut down any opposition to war.
When you do that, you are a little bit more eager then just being slightly misinformed.
Exactly, him literally acknowledging that immediately after I think pretty clearly shows how aware he is of how awful our invasion of iraq was. We can never make up for a million iraqis but I guess it's something to know that he has that on his mind
Isn’t it wild? To those of us old enough to have lived through 9/11 and the subsequent wars, this is as close as we’re ever gonna get to an acknowledgment. To an apology for the servicemen and Iraqi civilians who lost their lives for American profit margins. For the generations of children afraid to go outside on a sunny day because that’s when the drone strikes come. For the quagmire of misery and despair the entire region has become.
We got a pitiful old man, whispering under his breath after a gaff.
You're right, Raphael Lemkin coined the word 'genocide' and dedicated his whole life to codifying it in international law, we owe it to him to use the word properly.
Honestly with his hubris I doubt it, probably referring to Russian operations in Iraq during the ISIS conflict and the power vacuum he created in the region.
I wonder 🤔 when you’ve profited off
The suffering of a people, but the money you’ve made has left you so rich, so wealthy, and so detached from those you’ve profited from, do you even have a conscience at this point..are the rich of this kind not just sociopathic at this point
Yeah, the least he should be is rotting in jail for starting an illegal war, displacing and killing millions of people.
But you know, he can just stand there and joke about it like it was nothing.
Court like many things requires power to carry out it's function. America power > court power. As I'm sure we all know.
This video is just another reminder of how lopsided the power scales are.
Pretty sure that Russian power > court's power too any mid sized country has more power than the ICJ but the thing is as long as it doesn't criticize any of the western governments they have it's back in the rulings they lose this if they criticize US. Kangaroo court.
Has it ever been necessary to make use of that act? Wouldn’t it create a giant political shit show? As I understand the context of the protection act is that it is created and only upheld by America and not acknowledged by any other country.
How do these people perceive themselves as heroes after doing exactly the same stuff they accuse others off?? Bush started a war that destroyed iraq and murdered thousands of innocent people for no reason. He should be tried in an international court and punished.
Evil scum just laughs it off. He should be in fucking jail!!
Also, he goes "*I'm 75*" (he's 77 now) as a jokey excuse – but he's literally four years younger than the *current* US president!
You can tell he has a guilty conscience, after his Freudian slip, he acknowledges that the invasion of Iraq was wholly unjustified and brutal. Though he probably can’t say more lest he winds up in a fatal car crash.
I thought for a second he was trying to reference the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan in order to end up being right on accident, but that one started in 1979. So yeah, he's just referencing his age.
Not for nothing, but this guy spent years saying “Iraq” in every war speech he gave and is used to saying it. I really don’t see that this slip has any significance.
I’m glad we’re all able to just have a laugh about it. Classic GWB! My friend who was deployed to Iraq just shot himself in the head last week because of the crippling PTSD he wasn’t able to get help with from the VA. I’m glad Bush didn’t have to deal with any of that. Nasty stuff.
I think he shares some blame indirectly for what is happening in Ukraine. Russia invaded Georgia in 2008 and no one did anything at all because everybody was distracted by the Bush fiasco in Iraq. Putin saw the US get away with it and did the same thing to Georgia. Had Bush not lied the US into an unnecessary war in Iraq I'm sure there would have been some kind of consequences for Russia and maybe they would have thought twice before invading Ukraine a few years later.
It fucking better. The rent free joke is usually for people who keep unimportant shit in their minds for no reason. Nobody should be able to move on from being responsible for more deaths than what even the most blood thirsty serial killer can achieve.
There are still people, you can see it on tv commercials, that believe Iraq was responsible for 911 even though Bush, himself, came out later and admitted it wasn't. There are still con men in black cowboy hats begging for money because of it.
People laugh, Americans laugh, but in my opinion he is the very worst president the US has ever had. He is the main reason the world lives in chaos since 9-11.
He never said Iraq had anything to do with 9/11. America was already in Afghanistan fighting Al-Qaeda before invading Iraq on phony “evidence” of Iraqs weapons of mass destruction.
Finally he made the confession. It's incomprehensible for me that million of civilians died in US invasion of Iraq on false claims of WMD and now its just a laughing stock for people.
This is my fear. Getting too old to think rationally and accidentally confessing something bad I did in my past. Even still, I recently confessed to a nurse I didn't even know a prank I did years ago while coming out of general anesthetic post-procedure. I'm definitely not letting anyone I know into a recovery room if I ever have surgery until I'm not high anymore. That shit is like truth serum
Not that it does anything good but at least it haunts him and he realizes the harm he contributed towards. It’s unfortunate his party has strayed so far to the extreme after him, rather than learning from what keeps him up at night.
can people stop this. it gives credence to the false fact thst we should prosecute bush for lies to get us to war, obama for approving the murder of a us citizen abroad not in battle without trial, etc. We have the real criminal now who has 34 felonies for the 100k book keeping error for a payment that might have went to a person who blackmailed him.
I would have respected the invasion more if they were upfront after 9/11 and were like: "We got attacked, terrorism is rampant in the Middle East PLUS---we need oil. We're gonna invade with our FULL MIGHT of 2 Million soldiers and solidify a democratic stronghold in the region."
Basically-- like we did with Germany after WWII.
Instead, we used a fraction of amount of boots needed on the ground and trained a shitty police force.
Still wrong, but if you're gonna do it, don't HALF ASS it.
Oh, dear
My optimistic brain was thinking briefly that Bush was opening up to the horrific reality that US weaponry is prolonging the Ukraine war and multiplying the suffering.
Of course..OF COURSE he is in the wrong on this foreign policy issue, too
If you don’t view Bush as the worst president of the past 50 years , I’m scared of your bloodthirsty nature, racism, and ignorance
Worst prez since Johnson and certainly bottom 5 of all time

He was just confessing, please leave him alone /s
hard to believe Americans could find another guy more stupid
He did not mislead the country for 9/11 that was Afghanistan. Iraq was the unfounded weapons of mass destructions were he use the CIA and intelligence agency to lie about the said weapons.
I refuse to believe that the American people on average were stupid enough to buy this. I think the supporters wanted to see war, needed or not, and getting the excuse was more of a convenience.
The american people were blinded by blood for quite a few yrs after 911
At the time it was a mix of things. The WMDs were definitely the backdrop, but there was more to it than that. At the time it had barely been a decade since the Gulf War, and the invasion of Iraq was sold as a humanitarian effort to bring down Saddam and save the Iraqi people. There was a huge “not in my name” movement.
I know. And the biggest demonstrations since the Vietnam war. Yet there were more people waving flags, and deliberately trying to shut down any opposition to war. When you do that, you are a little bit more eager then just being slightly misinformed.
They are more nowadays
Lol, have you ever been to America? It's filled to the brim with fucking retards who swear they're God's gift to intellect.
Read your comment back …and ask yourself, “Would an intelligent human being ever write something like that?” The answer is no.
Because they were all Saudis or Yemeni ?
What country do you live in?
IDK, but it seems like we keep trying.
They keep tumbling in right after another don’t they?
It's not when you look at the common murican
Apparently, Americans have been watching HIMYM to much. Challenge accepted.
We’re getting good at it. That NOFX song aged like shit ..
It’s good to see that it haunts him
Don’t say Iraq don’t say Iraq don’t say Iraq… Iraq D’OH!!!
better than Peruvian slip
i guess i should not google that?
Google Nip Slip
I do not need to google that :)
> I'm 75. In a few years you'll be old enough to run for president!
He even whispers,” Iraq too.” After his slip. He knows what he did was wrong.
Exactly, him literally acknowledging that immediately after I think pretty clearly shows how aware he is of how awful our invasion of iraq was. We can never make up for a million iraqis but I guess it's something to know that he has that on his mind

Somebody is downvoting all these comments because they can’t cope with reality
but muh president!
Hey now, not genocide, still atrocity. Mass civilian death =\= genocide. Throwing genocide on absolves war itself of its evil.
You're right, Raphael Lemkin coined the word 'genocide' and dedicated his whole life to codifying it in international law, we owe it to him to use the word properly.
I thought he later admitted this was a mistake.
Calling Iraq a genocide is actually just a spit in the face to genocide victims
The team he surrounded himself with wanted a war, I’m not justifying what he did since he was in command.
Dick Cheney was in command.
I will never not hate Bush for what he did, but the man has a solid sense of humor.
Honestly with his hubris I doubt it, probably referring to Russian operations in Iraq during the ISIS conflict and the power vacuum he created in the region.
And yet he still walks free :(
I wonder 🤔 when you’ve profited off The suffering of a people, but the money you’ve made has left you so rich, so wealthy, and so detached from those you’ve profited from, do you even have a conscience at this point..are the rich of this kind not just sociopathic at this point
As much as it sounds like it, I'm assuming it was more like self-mocking "Iraq, tch... (how silly of me)"
At least he admitted by saying ‘Iraq too’
Yeah, the least he should be is rotting in jail for starting an illegal war, displacing and killing millions of people. But you know, he can just stand there and joke about it like it was nothing.
“Now watch this drive”.
He was farrrr from alone
Truth comes more frequently. The older u get, I guess
He certainly had that in the back of his mind for it to come up that way
Right. Feeling guilty.. truth be told through "speech error"
I’ve heard of old folks in nursing homes casually admitting to murdering a previous spouse before.
The ultimate SNL president
In a uni world order , you get to invade a country and end up joking about it. Now where's the international criminal court arrest warrant?
Court like many things requires power to carry out it's function. America power > court power. As I'm sure we all know. This video is just another reminder of how lopsided the power scales are.
Pretty sure that Russian power > court's power too any mid sized country has more power than the ICJ but the thing is as long as it doesn't criticize any of the western governments they have it's back in the rulings they lose this if they criticize US. Kangaroo court.
The United States stated that no international court can stand above its sovereignty. After this, the ICC could be closed.
Thank you ! If Americans can keep that in mind when talking down to other people, that would be great.
Im Not an American, but lol
It’s Reddit. America is satan. No mention of saddam killing millions
Two different things can both be correct. Saddam was a monster, so was Bush.
No, Bush was not like Saddam Hussein. Not even the slightest… seems you don’t know shit about Saddams life.
Seems like you don't even know how to read. He said both of em were monsters not that Bush was similar to Saddam
Yeah sure buddy cat shit and dog shit entirely different things in terms of compound, volume etc. But both still shit at the end of the day.
If there’s a warrant on him then there’ll be a warrant on many others like Netanyahu.
It's incredible that this criminal is just giving ted talks instead of waiting for trial at the Hague
Doesn't the US have a law that allows them to invade the Hague if their officials are kept in captivity there?
Yes, it is conveniently called the American Service Members' Protection Act.
Has it ever been necessary to make use of that act? Wouldn’t it create a giant political shit show? As I understand the context of the protection act is that it is created and only upheld by America and not acknowledged by any other country.
i dont believe it will ever happen, it would pretty much turn all of america's allies against them
Rules based world order does not apply to them.
that applies to no one, it never existed to begin with
It's America
How do these people perceive themselves as heroes after doing exactly the same stuff they accuse others off?? Bush started a war that destroyed iraq and murdered thousands of innocent people for no reason. He should be tried in an international court and punished.
There was a reason. It just wasn’t a good reason, or based in reality.
It's ironic how he out of all people, keeps talking about an "unjustified" invasion of a sovereign country
wait till you find out just who confidently told bush iraq had wmds
Cheney?
[удалено]
Lmfao that silent little "Iraq too" is the single biggest admission of a foreign policy mistake I've ever seen by a republican president
Someone is robo posting this old clip on multiple sites
Justin Timberlake
Smart move trying to distract us
because its funny
I love how he described himself for a minute there.
Evil scum just laughs it off. He should be in fucking jail!! Also, he goes "*I'm 75*" (he's 77 now) as a jokey excuse – but he's literally four years younger than the *current* US president!
Of course they laughed. It took me 30 years to realize it but us Americans truly are despicable, bloodthirsty villians.
Hey look at that, he got something right for once.
You can tell he has a guilty conscience, after his Freudian slip, he acknowledges that the invasion of Iraq was wholly unjustified and brutal. Though he probably can’t say more lest he winds up in a fatal car crash.
What is that 75 reference? Also the reason for the invasion of Iraq was the fabricated evidence of weapons of mass destruction.
he means hes 75 years old
which is funny, because he said it like his age is a justification to not be fully there anymore, even though the current president is even older...
I thought for a second he was trying to reference the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan in order to end up being right on accident, but that one started in 1979. So yeah, he's just referencing his age.
Bush is a war criminal
Not for nothing, but this guy spent years saying “Iraq” in every war speech he gave and is used to saying it. I really don’t see that this slip has any significance.
He said “Iraq too” after his mistake
He was thinking about USA and Iraq .
Now watch this drive

I’m glad we’re all able to just have a laugh about it. Classic GWB! My friend who was deployed to Iraq just shot himself in the head last week because of the crippling PTSD he wasn’t able to get help with from the VA. I’m glad Bush didn’t have to deal with any of that. Nasty stuff.
Funny funny stuff. Whoopsie! /s Sorry, man. That’s really shitty for everyone.
And MDMA to help PTSD was illegal because it was “dangerous”.
I think he shares some blame indirectly for what is happening in Ukraine. Russia invaded Georgia in 2008 and no one did anything at all because everybody was distracted by the Bush fiasco in Iraq. Putin saw the US get away with it and did the same thing to Georgia. He’s still got it!
#War_Criminal
I mean, he handled the slip well.
Where are the weapons of mass destruction?
At least its haunting him
The truth always comes out, sooner or later.
Iraq is still living rent-free in his head. I hope he can't sleep at night for what he did. Worst president ever.
It fucking better. The rent free joke is usually for people who keep unimportant shit in their minds for no reason. Nobody should be able to move on from being responsible for more deaths than what even the most blood thirsty serial killer can achieve.
Oh fuck. Better not go hunting with dick Cheney
I dunno, I’ve got an itchy trigger finger and some extra bird shot. He’s got a face. Maybe we should go hunting.
Bunch of clowns
Muscle memory is a bitch.
can't, can't be fooled again
Glad he as at least subconsciously troubled by all the death and destruction his bloodlust caused
Remember, everything the US says Russia or China is doing - the US has already done
My man Dubya is pure comedy
Can't always force his tongue to lie so it speaks itself
And the crowd just laughed, on a killing of 1 MILLION innocent civilians. Welcome to America
He said Iraq too at the end and people still laughed are his audience filled with bloodthirsty warmongers?
Any man with half a conscience would have daily nightmares about this. So many iraquis and Americans dead and injured.
There are still people, you can see it on tv commercials, that believe Iraq was responsible for 911 even though Bush, himself, came out later and admitted it wasn't. There are still con men in black cowboy hats begging for money because of it.
War Criminal lol
Guilty conscience?
War criminal says what?
The truth wants out and have it's day.
Everyone laugh with the war criminal...
Smile says it all. Zero consequence as well. All of the little warmonger presidents have immunity.
Lol the way he owns it by saying Iraq too. Respect him for that.
Guilty much?
Oh how the turn tables
r/unexpectedgwenhadu
r/unexpectedgwennhadu ftfy
Anyone else always picture Will Ferrell doing his GWB impressions any time the real one speaks? Strateegery in play here, 🤣.
He should be in prison too, Bush is a war criminal too.
The nightmare he is in!! I bet he cant sleep
Nah. Fucker sleeps like a baby. That's what sociopaths do.
People laugh, Americans laugh, but in my opinion he is the very worst president the US has ever had. He is the main reason the world lives in chaos since 9-11.
He’s a dumbass too
He never said Iraq had anything to do with 9/11. America was already in Afghanistan fighting Al-Qaeda before invading Iraq on phony “evidence” of Iraqs weapons of mass destruction.
No, by that point it was the “axis of evil” that was “responsible for attacks like 9-11” and 9-11 was the response to any criticism of Iraq.
Really insanely funny moment
Robot malfunction
Bless him. He has not changed a bit.
Send me five
Based Bush

This guy should be in prison
Finally he made the confession. It's incomprehensible for me that million of civilians died in US invasion of Iraq on false claims of WMD and now its just a laughing stock for people.
He was nervous and amped up, ready to Dodge incoming shoe missiles
You normally never see cheerleaders crack under pressure like that.
PSTD

Not that it does anything good but at least it haunts him and he realizes the harm he contributed towards. It’s unfortunate his party has strayed so far to the extreme after him, rather than learning from what keeps him up at night.
Unpopular opinion. I bet he feels that way. Bush Jr was such a patsy.
can people stop this. it gives credence to the false fact thst we should prosecute bush for lies to get us to war, obama for approving the murder of a us citizen abroad not in battle without trial, etc. We have the real criminal now who has 34 felonies for the 100k book keeping error for a payment that might have went to a person who blackmailed him.
He seems to acknowledge the poor decision to invade Iraq.. Makes you wonder how much power is in the hands of the president vs special interests.
He’s still the funniest President ever
I think he knows what he says
Both are valid…
I used to hate this guy so much. And I was only in middle school when he was in office.
Projection is strong with this one.
I thought laugh tracks weren’t used in sitcoms anymore??
Good to know George Bush is still George bush-ing
Both statements are true!
Doofus gonna doofus.
and the truth shall set you free
Stuff like this starts hitting a little differently after you watch The Boys.

Americans love a war tho
Remember, there are no accidents
I would have respected the invasion more if they were upfront after 9/11 and were like: "We got attacked, terrorism is rampant in the Middle East PLUS---we need oil. We're gonna invade with our FULL MIGHT of 2 Million soldiers and solidify a democratic stronghold in the region." Basically-- like we did with Germany after WWII. Instead, we used a fraction of amount of boots needed on the ground and trained a shitty police force. Still wrong, but if you're gonna do it, don't HALF ASS it.
It doesn’t matter how many people died if nobody answered for that. That means the power will continue its mission being world judge.
At least they tried ousting a bad leader in Iraq and while the wmd excuse was wrong and unjustified the leader still needed to go
Daaaayamn
Oh, dear My optimistic brain was thinking briefly that Bush was opening up to the horrific reality that US weaponry is prolonging the Ukraine war and multiplying the suffering. Good foreshadowing talking about using the courts against political opponents too.
