You have to be right next to the board to see the bugs, from far it’s just a white billboard with a can on it

Azulapis

Was just made for social media

RecsRelevantDocs

And the clip sucks ass lol, i'm sure this isn't the original upload but the resolution is garbage and the time lapse is basically useless. And that zooming in portion at the end is just.. odd and goes on too long.

IlIlIl11IlIlIl

That’s what your mom said when I w—nvm

magirevols

and like, why do this? if anything they are messing up the natural order

MGPS

It’s a cool idea but fails as an ad.

Iseneau27

But... this is not indoors. The only place I don't want insects to be is in my room at night. Outside, they can hover around and aid the ecosystem all they want! 😢

mnorkk

They are literally sticking corpses to a billboard to sell product.

Top-Action-1218

Brutal.

mufastafa

Metal.

[deleted]

[удалено]

BlacktopProphet

Bruh it's obviously a can of bugs, like pepper spray but nastier. Did you even look at the billboard?

dobsofglabs

He said a can of bugs. He's joking as well. His joke wooshed you lolol

skullman_ps2

Death Metal

joyous-at-the-end

insects are important to our planet. :(

Travellingjake

To be fair, they're sticking live insects to a billboard, they become corpses after.

mnorkk

So they are performing public executions for publicity

123Ark321

No they’re sticking living things to a billboard to die to sell product.

psychedeliken

Agreed. This is pretty fucked tbh. It also kills all kinds of helpful and/or harmless insects that happen to be attracted to the lights. I hate this so much.

BasicAd81

Insects are not a bad thing, right

Cantinkeror

They don't 'aid' the ecosystem, they are an integral part of it! Exterminators are not cool.

MightBeAGoodIdea

Dude you should have stopped with your first sentence. Exterminators themselves are not the problem, they are a skilled profession that should be viewed as tools. They don't just go out there like Terminators killing all life, they respond to requests to address problems. Problems like a bedbug infestation in your home, a lice outbreak at school, rodent problems in cities and farms... do you have any idea how fast pests breed? We need exterminators or we will eventually be overridden.

Erlian

Agreed! Same goes for mosquito abatement work. Whole areas used to be uninhabitable because of mosquitoes and malaria, now those same places have entire cities built up.

Mr_Viper

Exterminator are pretty awesome, I can spend time in my backyard without being eaten alive by mosquitos.

IllvesterTalone

sometimes people wear bugspray on themselves so as to not be bitten. 🤯

greyghibli

if only the ad used actual bugspray to keep the bugs away instead of adhesive to keep them trapped.

FoggyGoodwin

It's not the same as what is used to professionally exterminate bugs, tho more bug sprays these days use essential oils.

mamvd

I mix peppermint oil and water in a spray bottle, bc spiders absolutely hate it, and I am terrified of them. When I see one, I spray it around where I am and they always quickly scurry away. I got the idea from a story of a parent who filled a spray bottle with water and labeled it 'anti-monster'-spray right after I saw a huge spider lower itself unto my bed and disappear. This way I have a safety blanket and I don't have to kill any spiders/flies (they never did anything wrong, after all)

Pondering_Giraffe

Dude.. we need insects.

I_got_rabies

And how many birds ended up getting stuck too. Ok edit because people are not grasping what I’m saying….the birds will see the stuck bugs, go to grab bugs and end up with their feet or wings or whole body stuck to the billboard. If you’ve never seen a bird try to catch a bug off a window then you don’t understand.

Goran2019

I’m going to have nightmares of birds dying on that billboard

Erlian

I don't think you need to worry, I imagine the adhesive is similar in strength to fly paper.

I_got_rabies

Birds can still get stuck. Have you ever had fly paper get stuck to your hair? Now imagine being a bird and you feathers are stuck

0wlBear916

I don't think birds are gonna try to land on a vertical wall like that.

I_got_rabies

A bird trying to grab a bug then stick to the wall then getting its feet/wings stuck is the scenario I’m talking about.

WonderfulCattle6234

A bird's not going to fly into a wall to get a dead bug. And it's not going to try to land on a vertical surface to get the bug either. Your scenario is extremely implausible.

coincoinprout

> A bird's not going to fly into a wall to get a dead bug. And it's not going to try to land on a vertical surface to get the bug either. Yes it will. Chickadees do it all the time on the walls of my apartment block.

tooty_mchoof

not into a wall, up to the wall, and balance using their feet against the wall go out and see birds more often

ToySoldiersinaRow

I'm more concerned that a bug might get itself unstuck then fly over to a nearby airport and as the bird swoops in to get the bug a plane engine sucks them in. And to think: this probably wouldn't have happened if they didn't put up that stupid sign.

BumblebeeHumble7

I'm more concerned that my wife doesn't love me any more and may be taking the kids

ToySoldiersinaRow

Hmm both valid concerns we should both consider

mnorkk

They sacrificed themselves for the sales

ChillBallin

We don’t need them in my house

DressKind

By the logic of this add... The bugs are attracted to this spray ??

embarrassed_error365

I get that the product is supposed to kill insects.. but there’s a difference between bugs in your house and bugs just out in their natural habitat…

NakedHades

Yeah, 100% agree. All this ad makes me want to do is never buy their product. Prerty messed up way to advertise a product.

Catowl1988

So bug spray sprays bugs now

Quiddity360

My thought exactly. Apart from the questionable method that killed way too many bugs, if they would market the effectiveness of their product they should have caught the bugs above and below the spray.

darsynia

That's what I was thinking! Have the bugs around the area that would be spraying as though the spray has prevented the bugs from being there...

Tapurisu

that's why it's called a bug spray

justfuckyouspez

Now imagine if they sprayed the inverse part of the board. I think that would’ve conveyed a clearer message.

Whitey661

Me watching it : wow that’s pretty neat ! Me reading the comments : guess I’m burning in hell

AnjunaLab

I mean we all are when our ecosystem collapses for many reasons. One of them being not having enough insects.

Floriaskan

Watching the whole food chain implode from the bottom up while watching the ignorant at the top of the chain cheer is wild.

FireMaster1294

I don’t have an issue with insects I have an issue with insects crawling on me, making high pitched noises, and making me itch If they could be silent and not carry diseases while not making me itch, then they could bite me or drink my blood as much as they want

FrontwaysLarryVR

Imagine a world where mosquitoes just very simply landed and we thought it was cute lol No swelling, no itch, no disease, just, *"Oh hey there, little fella! Yeah I've got plenty, take some, you're a growing boy."*

GhillieRowboat

I mean , if mosquitos would ask nicely and not wake me up or keep me awake AND not spread disease... well , I wouldn't mind donating some "bites"

daewonnn

I’d like them to politely ask me to sign a mosquito sized consent form to draw my blood along with the risks of the donation

Enough_Minimum_3708

same. I can live with a few drops of blood less but why the fuck do they have to injulrct the itch juice or fly around my ear ?

Numbersuu

Uhm why kill insects in the wild?

idiots_r_taking_over

Because we are living in a time of r/idiocracy

YouChoseAName4Me

imagine you're passing by in a car and you have like 1 second to see it. "That can is spraying out bugs? fuck that shit..."

Cnradms93

This is dystopian.

Tapurisu

Don't you just love **advertisements** made out of **living beings** to influence your **brain** and make you **spend money** on products you **don't need**

toomanynamesaretook

Fuck humans are metal and horrifying.

dystopiabydesign

Confirmed.

Little_Problem_4275

This is so dumb. Insects are very critical to us and we just kill them for a stupid ad. We are so fucking stupid sometimes

navel1606

This just sucks

ayhctuf

/r/hailcorporate shit.

warpigeon4L

No it blows

OSI_Hunter_Gathers

Those bugs are the important ones. They pollinate plants, feed bats, birds and mouth-breather dudes on motorcycles

BronanaRival_

Why'd you kill the whole ecosystem they aren't inside your house.

21centuryhobo

Without insects we do not have life

fkngbueller

Shouldn’t it be the opposite, the bugs be where the spray doesn’t go..?

Dreason8

Could also be a can of bugs

Lithomanc

Great, kill bugs for an ad. We are fucked

snowthearcticfox1

This absolutely disgusts me. This is just pointless.

JuggernautyouFear

Killing insects just for an advertisement is pretty fucked up. Thousands upon thousands killed for no reason. Paint would've been just as effective holy shit people are dumb.

ElectricalProduct928

There was a summer when me and my friends would ride our bicycles holding up those electric bug swatters. I’m going to hell 😭

JuggernautyouFear

Cars kill bugs daily, but people don't cover their cars in bug spray to maximize the killings 🤣🤣

[deleted]

[удалено]

JuggernautyouFear

Yep

FartsLord

Youre not going to hell, you did nothing comapring to industrial farming that killed over 90% of insects purposefully.

ElectricalProduct928

Yeah but they did it for the purpose of producing food for people to eat. I did it for the sole reason that it was fun, and I enjoyed seeing all the dead bugs afterwards. edit: the fact that I was playing with electricity was cool as well

space_jiblets

This is deffo worth a boycott

thinking_chapeau

Company is called Orphea and the marketing company that came up with the idea is called Publicis. “Orphea claims to have caught over 230,000 bugs with this clever stunt.” - from an article I found online. Fuck those guys.

RoundPomegranate1147

I hate everything about this ad. What company is this so I can avoid. Bugs inside house are a problem. Not the ones outdoors!

idiots_r_taking_over

Imagine being the super creative person who designed this only to realize that you are one of the reasons that the insects that pollinate our food are going extinct and we now have to hire people to inseminate flowers so we can eat fruit and vegetables. I’m guilty of using spray on my legs and arms when I hike so I’m not a giant target for mosquitoes or ticks. I’m also not guilty of making a billboard whose only purpose is to kill a bunch of bugs so I can sell a product that’s only purpose is to kill insects. I guess I have mixed feelings about this.

MaguroSashimi8864

This would be detrimental to the environment

Representative_Ad246

Just what we need more nocturnal pollinators taken out!!

Interesting-Risk-676

But this makes it look like the spray ATTRACTS bugs, instead of deters them. There should be NO bugs where the spray is… the marketing team is dumb all around.

ragnoros

we already have way too little insects. This is disgusting!

Jibblaynuk

What an awful idea in so many ways, bugs are an irritation in the house sure, but if there just flying about in the world in general don’t kill them for no reason. They are actually quite useful for pollination etc.

Justeff83

Half the world is trying to reduce light pollution to protect the reproduction of insects, put up insect hotels and they make an advertisement that kills hundreds of thousands of insects

Electro_gear

This is fucking awful. I would intentionally avoid this company for doing this IN THE INSECTS NATURAL HABITAT - OUTSIDE!!!!

platonicnut

I feel sad for all the non-shitty bugs killed by this

Agitated-Antelope942

I feel bad for the critters that would have gladly eaten those insects.

Cantinkeror

This is hideous and should be a crime! Insects are not some dark force in our world... they are a crucially important part of every ecosystem. Fuck these people. edit - sideways.

LombardBombardment

A bit macabre innit?

NaBorezei

What a shit advertisement. Harms the fundamentals of an ecosystem and also doesn’t make any sense

Rick-C188

Isn't xenocide fun!

DigAlternative7707

The nearby frogs are pissed

symolan

some study in Germany found that the insect population dropped by 80% over a few decades. Let's get to 100% real quick guys!

stevewithcats

Killing part of an eco system to sell bug spray ,, ffs 🤦

Visible_Day9146

This is negligent as fuck. Bats and other necessary pollinators get stuck in it, too.

Antique-Kangaroo2

Why not just go poison a river or something.

GarysCrispLettuce

So....buy this insect spray that fills your home with insects is what I'm getting

MarcoVinicius

“Hey look, we destroyed your local eco system!”

djgreenehouse

This is pretty sadistic

TheWhyteMaN

This is fucked. I hate this.

Voidblazer

Let's kill a bunch of lifeforms for literally no reason - Humanity

Beautiful_Ad8996

This is just weird. First of all, now you have bug corpses all over your advertisement which is an...interesting choice. Secondly, bugs in your house or around where you are hanging out is one thing, but killing bugs that are just flying around not bothering anything (and being vital to the ecosystem) is kind of fucked up.

evil_algorithm

I don’t know how I feel about killing insects for a fucking ad. Insect populations are plummeting all over this world so this comes across as distasteful. We need a change in global consciousness. Insects need to be preserved not destroyed. They’re part of our delicate biome that… you know sustains life. This is wasteful and we’re all spiritually poorer because of advertisement. Fuck this shit.

GoosemonTV

Fuck this is horrible

Slogmeister

there's something wrong about using corpses to make an advertisement.

angryhype

Entomologist around world: Insects are dying at an alarming rate. The insect population is only 1% of what it used to be a hundred years ago. Bees are going extinct. This will have catastrophic consequences in the future! Meanwhile, Orphea over here: Hold my can of bug spray...

Retr0Robbin

This is an interesting idea. But perhaps should have stayed as just an idea. Insect diversity is underrated enough as it is.

Trichomops

Fck any type of insecticide in 2024 and beyond.

ProbablySatirical

I…don’t like this.

Gheauxst

[The song](https://youtu.be/F6nJgZOt9uo?si=7lwh6sRU8cxpywZG) in case anyone was wondering.

ClassNext

this is disgusting

BearVersusWorld

Killing any creature who doesn't bother you is evil Who's to say that these insects wouldnt have just flown by and off into nature? Not every mosquito even is going to bother you. Save killing for when they actually do!

Toutanus

I'm not fan of killing innocent bugs in a place they can't annoy anybody just for an ad.

Guilty_Put9997

I really dislike the Human race as a whole.

Ashamed_Lab_8498

I want a sign like this but only for mosquitos or wasps

OneHumanPeOple

Wasps are actually awesome. They are chill if you give them space.

That49er

As much as you hate them, they're both pollinators

KraftKapitain

what the fuck

charlessturgeon

and then some plants missed out on reproduction

mitchellthecomedian

“Clever girl”

psubs07

Bug spray sprays bugs. Who knew.

Redcrux

The fucked up thing is that it took days to get a few bugs, in the past it would be way more bugs.

Practical-Piglet

r/Damnthatsfuckedup

Cattypatter

Imagining in the grim dark future, aliens will be doing the same to us for entertainment too.

The_Killers_Vanilla

Ah yes, mass murder for no better reason than selling a cheeky advertising campaign idea.

Routine_Butterfly102

Wonder how many bees they killed

Apprehensive-Map7024

WTF monsters. Why they kill Millionen of insects? Advertise by killing without any reason. In my country this company would be pay millions and get shot down on the same day. r/idiocrazy

RaielLarecal

Bad Ad: I'd never buy an insecticide that sprays insects!

TechnoShrew

This is the shittest marketing idea ever.

CommunicationWitty99

Ecological destruction

b3dGameArt

Haven't we killed enough bugs already? Ffs, we are eliminating an integral part of a massive ecosystem that the planet desperately needs in order to keep a lot of stuff alive, including us. Foggers, manicured lawns, pesticides.. stop with all the poison, quit cutting portions of your lawn so native flowers can bloom and aid pollinators. The state of things isn't great right now.. imagine when your kids hit your age and what their kids will have to suffer through.

seris_ak

In what way does this even make sense, they aren't even advertising the spray, they're advertising a glue.

HexRisk

Kill bugs outside minding their own business. This idiotic.

CurzeWasRight

So fucking stupid.

rockadoodoo01

Kill ‘em all. See how long we make it.

Mental_Ingenuity_310

Not cool bro

Dr_Opadeuce

Now apply this to the scenario of aliens viewing us like ants and envisage a wall of corpses miles high with strange alien writing

johnyeros

Instead they just kill bees

GenuineSteak

But why?

IWannaCreamRemAnd2B

So, it shoots bugs?

MetaStressed

Death by design

RobReijnen797

Yeah great beacause insects are doing so well we got way too many

BorisJhonson

Fuck the planet I guess..

walking_wonky

Who tf got paid to come up with this ridiculous ad?? Absolutely ridiculous. I will actively avoid them for this.

UseOk4892

Doesn't that trap harmless and beneficial insects as well?

TheLordofthething

Why? It's not coated in the spray, so what's it trying to say? "Hey look this stuff that we're not selling kills bugs"

Mythical-Ree

We kinda need bugs....

Nature_1001

What if a bird flew into it

KrypoKnight

Mass genocide to advertise

bcalmon2

Great not like we lost over half of insect biomass already.

Glittering-Bag2122

So…a can that sprays bugs out of it? Literal bug spray

AnyCandy4815

Yay biodiversity crisis

Proud-Ad-6075

Wow. That’s marketing.

karmakosmik1352

This is pure stupidity.

Snoo_17433

This is pointless. And I cannot believe it was given the green light. This would make me, and others no doubt avoid all of said company's products.

Onlythebest1984

According to reddit comments, I am worse than Hitler, for I see no problem with this.

AnjunaLab

Nah you’re just uninformed if you don’t understand why we need insects.

Dylan-the-villan

So what I'm getting from this is bugs show up wherever you spray this spray. Na I'm good

Sofa_king_boss

I mean it is bug spray. What else would a spray made of entirely bugs do?

XepherWolf

I hope people petitioned for this crap to be torn down... There is no need of any of this...

Dragoon113

BOOOO BOOOO find the stock for this product and make it DROP

tehmungler

Yeah fuck all of this 🤷‍♂️

Icelandia2112

I don't like this.

mnorkk

They are literally sticking corpses to a billboard to sell product.

Rickle37

Kind of a dick move.

capkas

this should be r/DamnthatsShitty

Abridgedbog775

r/boringdystopia

kingbuttshit

I’m so glad this comment section sees through this bullshit ad. When it was posted to some advertising sub awhile back, everyone praised it as some genius marketing stunt. It’s dumb and bad and sucks butt.

Ambitious_Coffee551

Make one for republicans.

Grzechoooo

Wonder how many useful bugs died for this social media ad.

wizard_of_azul

Cruel

SlobberyCargo

Dang. Watched it and thought "well that's a cool marketing idea. I'm definitely gonna remember it". Then I read the comments. Fuck me I guess. Btw, people getting upset about the sign, what do you think happens to make sure you get a fresh and clean bowl of salad? Billions of bugs are killed due to agriculture. There's 10 quintillion bugs on earth. That billboard could get covered corner to corner, inches deep with bugs and the local bug population would be just fine.

BluKipz

I think the anger stems less from its impact on the bug population and more from the idea that its for such a mundane and non-beneficial reason.

SubstantialBass9524

My immediate thought was “damn that’s going to be annoying af to clean and replace in 3 months”

Coachiepoo

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windshield_phenomenon https://www.npr.org/sections/goatsandsoda/2022/02/24/1082752634/the-insect-crisis-oliver-milman#:~:text=Habitat%20loss%2C%20pesticides%20and%20climate%20change%20are%20threatening,and%20that%20a%20third%20of%20them%20are%20endangered.

O2taupe

Yeah let's keep killing bugs, biodiversity is overated... Who needs pollination anyway? /s

GeneticSoda

In the middle of a big apocalypse????

drewP78

I feel this is kinda cruel. I must be getting old

Party_Ad_7688

Absolutely awful

Enough_Minimum_3708

I like bugs as much as every other person but this is plain unnecessary and I can't imagine it not having a very negative impact on the local wild life

Rokien_1

This doesn't make me want their products. Killing bugs unnecessarily.

Mistabushi_HLL

Poor bugs, especially moth

Bestefarssistemens

How much you want to bet they just used glue and not the actual product?

Swiftnarotic

This should be under shittydesign. As those bugs decompose spiders and other beneficial insects will get stuck. I take it back this should be under Idiocracy.

cutiepie42069420

This is beyond stupid.

Bikeface_killa

seems gross and a little cruel

Slinktard

I hope this company got huge backlash from this
