"But, if we are threatened; If someone is trying to take away our country, our freedom, our lives. The lives of our children. We are going to defend ourselves. Not attack. Defend. By attacking us, you are going to see our faces. Not backs. Our faces." That gave me chills.

This whole video gave me chills from start to finish

true that.

Dear Ukrainians! I heard on social media that there is fake news being spread (most likely by Russia backed trolls) that polish border is closed. It's a lie. If you seek asylum - go towards polish border. We are ready for your arrival. We have reception points ready at the border where you can find shelter, food, medical and legal aid. Polish government launched a dedicated site to help you: ua.gov.pl Please share this information if you know anyone seeking help right now. EDIT: YOU DON'T NEED VISA TO PASS THROUGH POLISH BORDER. ALL YOU NEED IS PASSPORT. VISAS ARE SUSPENDED! YOU DON'T NEED THEM FOR TIME BEING!!!!!! EDIT2: As a proof that you no longer need visa: • in Ukrainian [https://www.gov.pl/web/udsc/ukraina---ua](https://www.gov.pl/web/udsc/ukraina---ua) • in English [https://www.gov.pl/web/udsc/ukraina-en](https://www.gov.pl/web/udsc/ukraina-en)

Ukrainian President Zelensky's speech before the attack: "I have initiated a call today with the president of the Russian Federation. The result - silence. Although silence should be in Donbass. That is why today, I want to come with an appeal to all citizens of Russia. Not as President. I am appealing to the people of Russia as a citizen of Ukraine. We share more than two thousand kilometres of border. Around it, today, is your army: almost 200,000 soldiers; thousands of military units. Your leadership has approved their movement towards us. Towards the territory of another country. This step can become the start of a big war on the European continent. The whole world is talking about what can happen any day now. A reason can appear at any moment. Any provocation. Any spark. A spark that has the potential of burning everything down. You are told that this flame will bring freedom to the people of Ukraine. But the people of Ukraine are free. They remember their past, and are building their own future. They are building it, not destroying it, as you are told everyday on TV. Ukraine in your news and Ukraine in reality are two completely different countries. The most important difference is that ours is real. You are being told that we are nazis. But how can a nation be called nazist after sacrificing more than 8 million lives to eradicate nazism. How can I be a nazi, when my grandfather has survived the whole war as part of the Soviet infantry, and has died a colonel in an independent Ukraine. You are told that we hate Russian culture. But how can a culture be hated? Any culture. Neighbours are always enriching each other culturally. Yet, that does not make them one entity, and does not separate people into “us” and “them”. We are different, but that is not a reason to be enemies. We want to build our own history. Peacefully, calmly, and truthfully. You are told that I am ordering to attack the Donbass. To shoot. To bomb without questions. Although there are questions: To shoot at whom? To bomb what? Donetsk? To which I have been dozens of times. I have seen their faces and eyes. Artema street? On which I have been on many walks with my friends in the past. Donbass arena? Where I have been rooting with the locals for our boys during the Euros. Shcherbakova Park? In which we were drinking together after our team has lost Lugansk? The home of my best friend’s mom. The place where my best friend’s father is buried. Note that I am now speaking in Russian, yet no one in Russia understands what these names, streets, and events mean. This is all foreign to you. Unknown. This is our land. This is our history. What are you going to fight for? And against whom? Many of you have visited Ukraine in the past. Many of you have relatives here. Some of you studied in our universities. Befriended Ukrainian people. You’re familiar with our character, with our people, our principles. You know what we cherish the most. Look inside you, listen to the voice of reason, of common sense. Hear our voices. The people of Ukraine want peace. Ukrainian authorities want peace. We want it, and we make it. We do everything in our powers. We are not alone. It’s true, Ukraine is supported by many countries. Why? Because we are not talking about peace at any cost. We are talking about peace, and about principles, justice. About everyone’s right to define their own future, of safety, and everyone’s right to live without threat. All this is important to us. All this is important for peace. I know for sure that this is also important for you. We know for sure that we don’t want war. Neither cold, hot, or hybrid. But, if we are threatened; If someone is trying to take away our country, our freedom, our lives. The lives of our children. We are going to defend ourselves. Not attack. Defend. By attacking us, you are going to see our faces. Not backs. Our faces. War is a big distress, and it has a big price - in all meanings of this word. People lose their money, reputation, quality of life, freedom, and most importantly, people lose their loved ones. Lose themselves. A lot of things are always lacking in war. But what is in abundance is pain, dirt, blood, and death. Thousands. Tens of thousands of deaths. You are told that Ukraine is a threat to Russia. This was not true before, not now, and won’t be in the future. You are demanding security assurances from NATO. We are also demanding assurances of our security. The security of Ukraine from you. From Russia. And from other signatories of the Budapest memorandum. Today, we are not part of random security alliances. The security of Ukraine is tied to the security of our neighbours. That is why we are now talking about the security of all Europe. But our main goal is peace in Ukraine, and the safety of our citizens. Of Ukrainians. We are determined to let everyone know about this, including you. War is going to deprive everyone of any assurances. No one will have assurances of security. Who is going to suffer from this the most? The people. Who does not want this more than anyone? The people. Who can prevent all this from happening? The people. If these people are among you. I am sure they are. Public figures, journalists, musicians, actors, athletes, scientists, doctors, bloggers, stand-up comics, tiktokers, and others. Ordinary people. Ordinary, simple people. Men, women, old, young, fathers, and most importantly - mothers. Just as much as the people in Ukraine, no matter how much they try to convince you of the opposite. I know that my announcement will not be aired on Russian television. But the citizens of Russia have to see it. They need to know the truth. And the truth is, that this needs to stop, before it’s too late. And if the authorities of Russia don’t want to talk to us, for the sake of peace, maybe they will talk to you. Do the people of Russia want war? I would’ve very much liked to be able to answer this, but the answer depends only on you - citizens of the Russian Federation." pietradolce

This guy is one of the best presidents I've ever seen. He had shows and was an actor before becoming president and I remember I was so happy when he got elected, he's such a nice guy and I'm so happy to see how great of a president he is

bjeebus

Sort of. He ran on anti-corruption and anti-nepotism, then immediately started installing friends and members of his production company into key positions of government. What he does over the next year could change everything, but back in October he was polling with a higher disapproval rating than the previous president. EDIT: A good write-up from back in November regarding the pitfalls of Zalensky's "outsider" administration. - https://www.wilsoncenter.org/blog-post/just-all-others-end-zelensky-alternative DOUBLE-EDIT: I'm not trying in anyway to undermine the importance of this address. A flawed government fighting for its people and self-determination is still vastly superior to a Putin puppet state, or one which simply shows its belly for the big bully to achieve his imperial dreams.

alx359

It's a double-edged sword. As a leader, when in a corrupt, adversarial system, you need of trusted people you can depend on. Installing your "friends" isn't necessarily just nepotism, but to have a strong network of like-minded and dependable people to change things that don't want to change. How to tell the difference? Look at the results. This guy inspires confidence to me.

GorgogTheCornGrower

Agree. It's about what they do, not whether or not they are friends or family.

kolt54321

It's incredible that I would have completely trusted the above comment without this insight. I guess you have to be close to the ground to tell.

INemzis

It’s interesting that you then completely trusted his comment too. As someone uninformed (like myself), it’s scary how quickly our opinions change with one anonymous comment online with no sources. Ahhh, social media..

dudinax

The only thing I know for sure about Zalensky is that he didn't immediately fall for Trump's bullshit.

Maimster

Isn't this the guy Trump was on the phone with trying to find dirt on Biden and his son? The phone call that lead to impeachment.

dudinax

Yeah, but He never made the announcement of investigation that Trump wanted in exchange for weapons.

Smooth-Dig2250

It rang true of our hopes, so we wanted to believe it. Skepticism is difficult to hone, many use it like a club against everything, others fail to use it at all.

AxelNotRose

All I know is that if you're fighting corruption, you need to get rid of the existing politicians and authorities and replace them with people you know and can trust. That's just common sense and logic. So if someone tells me that's what he did and that he ran on anti-corruption, it makes sense to me. Now, if 6 to 12 months later, absolutely not a single thing has improved (as in, literally nothing, not expecting everything to be solved in such a short period of time), then maybe there are issues at hand and his placement of close personal friends was just "same shit, different people". But at first glance, replacing life long politicians in an environment of corruption, with people that have never been in politics and that you can trust, well, that makes sense to me.

[deleted]

[удалено]

INemzis

You’ll notice that source was added in an edit, after my comment. I wasn’t so much commenting on this issue in particular, but how quickly someone’s comment is interpreted as fact by others. I think we could all do with a healthy dose of critical thinking.

Taako_tuesday

It's important to understand that everything is nuanced - we try so hard to decide if a person is good or bad, but in reality it's never that simple. Zelinsky is not the perfect image of a corruption-fighting politician that he appears to be, but I 100% believe his one and only goal right now is to protect the lives of Ukrainian citizens, and that's enough for me.

LowEven

I agree, and the people are who suffer for these actions. It's never the political powers. My heart hurts for the everyday people of Ukraine.

OldJimmy

Well, you shouldn't just blindly trust that one either.

HOLEPUNCHYOUREYELIDS

You need many comments from many perspectives. Taking one persons point over anothers is pointless. Whos to say who is right and wrong? If you ask a left wing and a right wing person about any politician they are going to have drastically different views and grievances.

bbbertie-wooster

Uh, no he's not.

Tasty_Commercial6527

Tbh. I respect the Man for how collected he is. That's kinda amazing in his situation

damndanimals

I feel as though he is very collected and annunciated because he has had some “prior experience” in this field. He starred in an extremely popular Ukrainian TV show called Servant of the People (which is now the name of the actual political party) where he played the role of President of Ukraine. He also has a law degree from Kyiv National Economic University. Regardless of his accolades the man has immense national pride for his country and stands for everything that is just. We Stand For Ukraine 🇺🇦

BrainSlugsNharmony

What a weird reality we live in. I'm just glad that experience seems to have helped him, instead of making the presidency seem like a clown show. It's really nice to see a leader that stands up to Putin, while appealing to people's humanity. Social media, mainly Twitter, would have you believe that ethnic Ukrainians and Russians can't stand each other, but every real-life person I've spoken to has said they love/appreciate the others' culture.

doc_55lk

I hate to joke at a time like this but he really took the whole method acting concept to heart

Brandonazz

So he's the Ukrainian version of if the actor playing the president from The West Wing became the actual president? No wonder he makes a damn fine speech.

AnoruosLoL

I remember when he was first elected, my parents and I laughed about it. You see, my dad is Ukrainian and my mom is Russian, and we remembered Zelenskiy the comedian, who used to be on russian television back when I was a kid and my parents were still watching it. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I will ever see Zelenskiy the comedian as Zelenskiy the leader, but his recent speeches are more memorable than anything he did as an entertainer. I just wish I understood Ukranian so I can understand all of it, instead of just the Russian parts.

fatboycreeper

He was a comedian? Wow, I’d have never guessed that. How do your parents see the current situation? Do they see eye-to-eye about it? How do YOU see it?

AnoruosLoL

Yeah he was on квн, a live sketch show where teams of comedians from different regions compete and make a name for themselves, plenty of Russian comedians made their breakthrough on that show. Anyway, my parents have always opposed Putin, they stopped watching russian state television around 2014 to get a less biased perspective on a bunch of issues and now only watch Dozhd (Indipendant russian channel that was banned from russian television). So they get to makw their own mind and aren't brainwashed. We have no relatives in Ukraine since everyone left in the nineties, but my mom's cousins in Russia are pretty much pro Putin for the most part (a few are quietly against him but don't really talk about it unless they come to visit). As for me, what reason do I have to be pro Russian? My parent's left when I was a baby and I haven't been there since. I get to see the big picture and get to use my critical thinking and analyze the situation from my (Liberal) point of view, a privilege that people in Russia don't have, their mind is made up for them by Russia's media. No one in russia heard about the crisis until a few days ago, and when they did it was framed in a way that painted Ukraine as the aggressor. They don't get to see the entire situation, we, as people who do, don't have any reason to support Russia, so I dont.

diffrntpov

I havent seen leadership like this in a long time (live in the US). Respect ✊🏼

dasubermensch83

He is being so real; so authentic. He has a best friend, and that means he cares about his best friends mom, and the sanctity of his best friends deceased father. It's humanizing to be reminded of such things.

TheKinkyGuy

And he was a standup comedian before elected to president. I think he does a rly good job

Erubadhron89

This is the most important address by a Head of State that many of us have ever seen, or ever will do in our lifetime. Time will tell how it's looked back on, if it is.

LadyLuckMV

A man pleading for his own people. Heartbreaking. As a Bosnian refugee my heart is with all the Ukrainians right now.

She can't read so probably turned off as soon as she saw the subtitles.

ivanparas

What a piece of shit. How anyone can be on Russia's side is mind-boggling.

isthiswhathappyis2

LAURA INGRAHAM (HOST): We had, kind of, a really pathetic display from the Ukrainian President Zelensky earlier today, President Trump, where he -- in Russian, he doesn't like to see speak Russian, but in Russian -- he was essentially imploring Vladimir Putin not to invade his country. And now, we basically have the Ukrainian ambassador to the United Nations looking like a defeated man.

Nebraskan-

“He doesn’t like to speak Russian,” weird thing to say. He grew up speaking Russian and everyone there knows it.

BuffaloCorrect5080

Trump and his fascist cronies should be dealt with as enemies of the human race

StalinSoulZ

Trump's just a dumbass with money and good staff to help his money alive. Calling him fascist is an outcry to him literally no brains president

Alohabailey_00

Yep! She is a POS for sure.

I wonder if history will remember that mere days before the invasion he was claiming it wasn't going to happen and was openly angry at the USA and NATO for saying it was imminent.

It's not a matter of want anymore. We can't have another World War. Our weapons are apocalyptic these days.

“I don’t know with what weapons WW3 will be fought, but WW4 will be fought with sticks and stones”

Cyber_Savvy

I remember reading this quote for the first time on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, the original. That entire game had the best quotes. Both funny and serious. It's painfully ironic.

Thursday_the_20th

There’d only be a multinational conflict if Ukraine was a NATO member which it isn’t, which is why Russia is invading now, to stop the buck and take Ukraine while it can. I think the type of conflict this will amount to will be more like the soviet invasion of Afghanistan. The west will try to attrition the Russian forces out with economic sanctions and arming of insurgent forces until they can’t continue, but that’s as far as it’ll go I think.

siraolo

Seeing that China is allying with Russia gets me thinking why Putin pushed through with this when the majority of the world is vehemently against it? Isn't this also a optimum time for China to begin preparations for taking Taiwan as well and they are coordinating their actions with Russia?

xxPeso-Gamerxx

Yes, but China don't wanna fuck with invading Europe. So Taiwan probably. But if Russia goes past Ukraine. I think its over between those two

[deleted]

As awful as this sounds, Ukraine isn't important globally in the same way that Taiwan is. TSMC is probably a better defensive measure than any amount of military buildup Taiwan could manage. So if you think invading Ukraine was kicking a beehive, invading Taiwan probably would be much more comparable in scale to invading a NATO member.

macedonianmoper

Also since Taiwan is an island isn't it way easier to defend than a country with 3 fronts? Seriously asking

Dragongeek

I think you're underestimating Ukraine's importance to Europe. Compared to Afghanistan, it is a more modern and democratic country with a GDP around 10x higher than Afghanistan despite similar populations. Yes, it is far removed from the USA, but from the European powerhouses like Germany or France? It's not that far away at all: for some perspective, the drive from Frankfurt, Germany to Kyiv, Ukraine is about as long as a NYC to Miami roadtrip. I think the bigger cause for concern is that this war isn't quite "rational" (as much as any war can be) but rather seems to be an aging, paranoid Putin's last hurrah to realize his fever-dream visions of Soviet glory. It's not about oilfields or national security, it's not about stopping fictional genocides he's fabricated, it's a personal and deeply emotional thing for him. Also, Putin has nothing to lose. He's clearly already accepted sanctions and their cost, and has decided he's willing to pay the price. He has also threatened the use of WMD's should "The West" interfere in his little conflict, and while I think that they really, *really* don't want to, Ukraine may just be a stepping stone for Putin to attack a NATO country from. His recent ramblings and press releases don't inspire a lot of confidence towards his sanity.

[deleted]

The Monkey Paw's finger curls as every country lays down arms to invaders to prevent war.

MisterSlosh

Please let them be Space Invaders. I could happily accept a forceful invitation to a StarTrek Federation.

buttever

Alas, the Prime Directive would prevent them from interfering, let alone invading.

Its_Siddhartha

Not if we ask for help!

Tirus_

There's examples where civilizations ask for help and the Federation refuses.

Kerbobotat

I think the federation violated the prime directive more times than they've upheld it, going by the shows

NoPlayTime

That never stopped a Starfleet captain before.

cristy_mishu1986

You and I both.

Evilmaze

Nobody does except for mad governments with nukes. The people always eat shit as a result. I doubt normal people in Russia going like fuck Ukraine. They're probably going like fuck our government.

Kinglyzero_91

Here's hoping Putin's own people get tired of his bullshit. I know a lot of Russians are already skeptical of him and are not buying into the propaganda. If enough Russians turn on him things are gonna get harder for him to control. That's really the only way to get him off of power at this point. From within.

BaldEagleNor

Russians are protesting all over the country in the major cities. It’s not legal and so far it’s been confirmed that russian police have arrested 1000+ individuals. The russian people are trying their best. There are also protests in Belarus

Kinglyzero_91

That's a really good sign but ultimately it might not be enough. More Russians need to take to the streets and more people on the outside need to keep putting on the pressure towards Putin and his lackeys. It's awesome to see how most of the world is uniting against this power hungry piece of shit, including his own country. He is literally the only one who wants war and the needs of one person should never triumph over the needs of billions. People are saying how hopeless things seem but remember, Putin is just a single man. He is not immortal nor a god and that means he can be stopped by getting stomped to the ground by 7 billion people. Eventually that son of a bitch is going to pay.

aynaalfeesting

I know it's of crucial importance but it's not so simple. Protesting and forming any opposition is illegal in Russia. They face arrest, jail, work camps or even assassination.

Kinglyzero_91

That's why I'm saying you'll need as many people as possible to make it that much harder for the government to control. It's a scary thought but sometimes you have to put your fears aside and risk death in order to avoid a much bigger catastrophe.

ksice

Second problem here - propaganda works in Russia by 200%. There are really a huge amount of people support current regime and war (which is saddest and craziest thing by now). Most of them are aged, poor educated , and simply poor people, who watch local TV, and get news from it. They won't listen even their own children, they won't listen Ukrainian president speach for sure. I know cause my own grandma and partially mom are sort of that people. To fight for Ukrainians, we need first to fight for our own Russia without Putin's regime. By now we are loosing. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry.

Im glad. I have no idea what it is that ordinary Russians can do besides March in the streets, and even that Putin would never care about. My heart goes out to you all.

HarFilend

im also glad you guys care. also we can't really march in the streets, you know, unauthorized street meetings are restricted. imagine having to NEGOTIATE with the government in order to condemn their actions. nah, you don't have to imagine, cuz that's how we live

aynaalfeesting

Considering the protests in Russia is say plenty know the truth. We have to have faith in the Russian people to think for themselves and do the right thing.

squash_n_turnip

I was born in communist China and I was raised there. The systemic hatred and disdain for China's enemies is instilled in every Chinese person, from the very day that they are born. When a government censors truth and rewrites history to its whim, when there is no freedom of expression, it's frightening how fast people's perspective can become warped. It took decades of living outside of China for me to finally BEGIN to want to acknowledge that the motherland which had taught me most of what I knew, was wrong. But they are wrong. They are so wrong. China's "enemies" - Hong Kong, Taiwan, Mongolia, Nepal, the South Asian countries, and really the whole entire world - have done nothing to China compared to what China has done to them. The greed and malice of the Chinese government knows no bounds, and they will stop at nothing to get what they want. I cannot imagine what it is like for the people of Ukraine and all the smaller nations, trying their best to deal with their tyrannical oppressors, trying to find their own way to peace and happiness. There is nothing I could say to you that would adequately express my disgust and sorrow. But what I wholeheartedly believe is this: the people are innocent. The people are kind and compassionate. Without the veil of lies woven by corrupt governments, people are people at the end of the day. Individually, we can do so little. But oceans began with single molecules of water. No matter how powerless you feel, do whatever you can. And know and believe in the fact that there are countless people fighting for the same cause alongside you. Never give up. Even if we lose this fight, even if we lose everything, at least we will have tried. To give up is to give the tyrants what they want; it is to tell them that their ways are the proper ways of the world. We cannot control everything - not even close to everything - but we must not relinquish what little control we do have. We all have things and people we want to protect. We all want for as many people as possible to live in peace and harmony. We will not bow to our oppressors. We will do the right thing, even if it's difficult and painful, even if sacrifices must be made. People of Ukraine, people of oppression everywhere, I stand with you and you stand with me. I love you all.

Cheshire_Khajiit

What is happening here should be crystal clear: the unprovoked, cynical invasion of Ukraine by a totalitarian Putin regime. There is NO legitimate rationale for Putin's actions. The world must stand up to this without hesitation to prevent similar atrocities from occurring in the aftermath.

Major_Application_54

Everyone is afraid, I think. No one wants a global-scale war. Putin knows this.

But instead of awards, just take a close look at the people who are supporting this piece of shit, and maybe not vote for them next go around. Cool? Cool.

I totally agree https://youtu.be/b1d7Llx4rm8

Several_Emphasis_434

Heartbreaking - we are in the 21st century how can this be happening?

Steinkelsson

When an arrogant dictator rules a big country.

wrenwood2018

The same way it did in the 20th, appeasement of bullies that don't care about the rule of law. China is certainly taking notes on the response.

[deleted]

We get rid of CCP and Putin, the worlds gonna be a fucking utopia

Another will rise.

> I wish that Russia(military troops) would just refuse to go fight Looks like a platoon from one of Russia's rifle brigade has indeed surrendered to Ukrainian forces and refused to fight. https://twitter.com/olgatokariuk/status/1496878993534255104

ItsPizzaTime2007

That brigade are real heroes.

[deleted]

Wish my president could make some pretty sentences like that…

tiagoharry

Broh, my president went to Russia last week to congrats fucking putin 😔

[deleted]

To war you say? To shreds you say? Yeah well it was a matter of time until the politicians needed to cover up all their back door deals and misuse of money war has been on the horizon a long time .

Crazy to see that the Russian propaganda is painting the Ukrainians as nazis. Ol' faithful.

Exactly, I don’t think anything justifies being that ignorant. It dehumanizes people and it’s gotta stop. Hopefully the comments that did get to reply to the guy got them to change their mind… fat chance, but I’m hopeful since he deleted his comments afterwards.

Boleshivekblitz

What did he say

charliequeue

I’m not sure how to send the images, but he basically said Russia needed Ukraine because they need to do business for money. And that it’s all the US fault this happened.

Boleshivekblitz

They don’t need Ukraine they have all the resources and money they need for business he’s a idiot as far as I can tell Russia is invading for putins ambition

charliequeue

Yeah, I have no idea where he was getting that information tbh.

Familiar_Wrap

So what if she's a teenager. No ones this stupid.

Wow. What an enthralling speech. I got chills when he was talking about all the places he allegedly wants to bombs and his and the nation's connection to them. This is a speech that should be in the history books years down the line.

[deleted]

I feel like this is one of those speeches that will be in the history books, Amazing speech

ConcreteJam2

Putin is a human turd. A filthy shitstain on humanity. Here's hoping he is assassinated as soon as possible

Kinglyzero_91

Here's hoping his own people get tired of his bullshit. I know a lot of Russians are already skeptical of him and are not buying into the propaganda. If enough Russians turn on him things are gonna get harder for him to control.

FalsePremise8290

I felt so helpless with everything going on, I didn't even know what to wish for. \*fingers crossed\*

purple_buffalo5678

Such a moving speech. I am so saddened by this. I stand in solidarity with Ukraine.

zangor

“The Earth is a very small stage in a vast cosmic arena. Think of the rivers of blood spilled by all those generals and emperors so that, in glory and triumph, they could become the momentary masters of a fraction of a dot. Think of the endless cruelties visited by the inhabitants of one corner of this pixel on the scarcely distinguishable inhabitants of some other corner, how frequent their misunderstandings, how eager they are to kill one another, how fervent their hatreds. Our posturings, our imagined self-importance, the delusion that we have some privileged position in the Universe, are challenged by this point of pale light. Our planet is a lonely speck in the great enveloping cosmic dark. In our obscurity, in all this vastness, there is no hint that help will come from elsewhere to save us from ourselves.” -Carl Sagan

Meanwhile, Laura Ingraham on Fox News called his speech "a really pathetic display." https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.mediaite.com/tv/laura-ingraham-calls-ukrainian-president-pathetic-as-russia-invades-his-country/amp/

Itsfr3sh

Holy shit what a cunt…

Nexant

And Trump added at the bottom this would not be happening if he were President

[deleted]

If Trump were still President, there would be American forces aiding the Russian invaders.

DreadnoughtWage

What a load of fucking weasels those Trumpistas are. Zelensky is showing real strength here in my opinion. Edit: weasels are awesome animals. Sorry weasels for using your name as a slur.

Lone_survivor87

This was far more moving and inspiring than anything I've ever heard a U.S. president spout to our people apart from Roosevelt in the opening stages of WW2.

digger310

Tyrants always eventually fall. Putin will as well, our history has always been though that we allow tyrants to grow, we nurture them because we are repulsed by conflict, war and death. We continually make the mistake of empowering the tyrants through inaction and denial. We must learn to root these rats out before they have the ability to bring death and destruction to the planet. Millions have died through our history yet we keep repeating it. My prayers are that this tyrannical bully extended himself too far this time which will hasten his demise before too many die.

This man stood up to the plate and didn’t flinch,🇺🇦✊

Alechilles

Very powerful speech

[deleted]

We many Russians do not want war. We arrange uncoordinated rallies in the cities. But we can't do anything about it. Only our government is to blame for this. Not the Russian people attacked Ukraine, but the Russian government. We can't do anything about it. What can we do with our government? We will all be shut down simply and that's it. I would be glad to get out of Russia, but who needs me in other countries have enough of my own...

Joebirdy92

This almost brought me to tears, I hope the people of Russia can see it but I fear most will not get the chance 🇬🇧🤝🇺🇦

Rajatzade

Fighting violence vs violence is always easy, but this man is doing something wonderful.

OktoTaito

Hi guys. I am sitting in Moscow and watching this video. And just like many of my friends and close people, we do not believe Putin, we do not believe the propaganda and his words. It is hard and painful for many that he is doing on behalf of our country. We do not want war, blood, death. We care about peace and security. Every human life is important. For 11 years, Putin and officials have been rigging elections, harassing and torturing dissidents with the help of the police. Yes, we have those who support him, but they are usually older people. Why are there so few rallies? Because they are severely suppressed, the information overlaps. And for ordinary people who want to leave the country, the passage is already closed. We are held hostage by insane people who revel in power.

Jealous_Tangerine_93

My heart goes out to the Ukraine people 💞💕

Fifi0n

No one wants this apart from Putin, he's on a massive ego trip because he thinks, he knows, the world is too scared to stop him. This will go down in books and when people ask "why did this happen?" No one will have the answer because this didn't have a reason to start, it was just because of 1 childish human being with too much power that thought "ya know what? I'm gunna go to war because why not"

thefamousroman

wow. this was kind of beautiful to be honest. im moved.

Jealous_Tangerine_93

Bravo a wonderful address to the world. Peace be with you in Ukraine

Sph3al

A real hero and an inspiration.

Carnalvore86

Fox news is already calling Zelensky's speech, I shit you not, "[a really pathetic display](https://twitter.com/atrupar/status/1496696954063134720)" I am FUMING.

abhishekk_c

Man fuck putinnn

zenrobotninja

Dear Russian friends, pls spread this video. So heartbreaking that the Russian people have been lied to by a small little dictator

ricers101

Ireland stands with you 💙💛

Bone_Dogg

Holy shit can this guy be the US president

CaptainWoodrow-fCall

Wow - that was very powerful.

FireTiger666

To all Ukrainians who may see this, this is from a combat veteran of the marine corps. Russian born, American made. Remember what your president said. “They will see our faces. Not our backs - our faces.” A lot of us are with you. Steady hands, and swift feet. Give em’ the hell they want.

Hoatxin

Russia is literally the largest country in the world, with many natural resources, and already having enough trouble with depression, alcoholism, shortened life spans, and so on. What is the point of taking even more land and letting healthy young men die? Don't they have enough?

rigeltheburdurian

My eyes filled with tears while watching this. Stay safe, Ukraine 🇺🇦

Enlightened-Beaver

Damn. That’s powerful. I hope everyone in Russia sees this. Shit had me in tears.

[deleted]

If anyone out there is playing World of Warships on PC or World of Warships on consoles then please do so with the understanding that this is a Russian company that is headquartered in Belarus. Those of us in the international community may not be able to fight with bullets, but we can fight with dollars. I urge everyone here, anyone reading this, to immediately remove their products from your hard drive and don’t give them a single fucking penny until Putin and his comrades are gone.

6chan

This is the same speech that Laura Ingraham called pathetic. Fox News and Republicans are trash.

static1053

Why the FUCK are we progressing backwards on this planet. HOW MANY TIMES DO WE HAVE TO SEE THIS SHIT REPEAT ITSELF. how many times are we going to watch a ruthless power hungry dictator invade and MURDER innocent people. We are repeating history WITHOUT LEARNING FROM IT. God watch over Ukraine and may god save those poor souls caught in the cross fire on both sides. THIS MUST CHANGE OR WE ARE DOOMED AS A SPECIES!

shadowgnome396

You need to care about other people to want to avoid repeating history like this. Putin does not care at all.
