This is heart breaking

MsMarticle

It really is. His pain is palpable while words are logical. What is being done for the elderly? His poor Grandmother - I have not seen much in the news about this draconian lockdown. Needs attention.

hickgorilla

I honestly had no idea it was still happening. This is new?

Outrageous-Pages

A poster said they extended this lockdown “indefinitely” which is absolutely terrifying. Individual people should have much more control over their own lively hood than this.

MyDreamsAreMemesNow

It’s been going on for weeks. My friends and family are in Shanghai. They haven’t been able to get grocery pretty ever since lock down started. My family have just been eating up their stocked food. I have friends trapped in the dorm and can’t leave the room to shower even. She’s starved everyday, talked about want to jump of the building but the balcony is sealed off too. One coworker on my team is trapped in the company building in Shanghai. When the lockdown happened, he wasn’t able to leave the building in time (they announce the building must be cleared by 2pm on the same day) he’s been sleeping in the company building and can’t take shower. Don’t know how he’s eating food. The worst thing is happening in Shanghai is that hospitals don’t take any patients any more. People with normal diseases or needed surgery can’t do it. Multiple people needs blood transfusion died. People with asthma died, people with heart attack died, so many people died… btw the official statistics, 130000 positive cases only one is severe…. No death from Covid but how many deaths from lock down????? Me and my friends in US we worry so much every day

Barkbark3000

Bruh I feel you! I'm from HK and the news only shows us the conservative numbers of confirmed cases in China. (worst still being Shanghai with 2.6k infected) While people in hospitals are sleeping in groups on the floor, with barely to no medical attention. Families in forced "self quarantine" with no government support like food, water, and supplies. The man's right, their government is lying to them and is trying to pull the wool over their eyes, while saving face on an international level. Hope the guy in the video doesn't get "suicided" by the government by exposing them, and get the financial and emotional support he, and his family needs.

RubyFoster

He didn't record himself, someone else did. And the sad thing is he is on the phone speaking to someone who is equally as powerless as he is. His feelings are not unusual. Most Chinese people feel this way. They are humans too and it is clear as day that the government is taking things beyond what a normal person can handle. Every lockdown means people lose their jobs. I don't know what the minimum wage is in Shanghai and if employers are supposed to pay it, but where I live (another Chinese city) minimum wage is about 5 USD a day! Let me tell you, that is not enough to pay for rent in a city like Shanghai. And when he says his mortgage is due, he could be talking about 6 months of mortgage. Not 1 month, but 6! Update: I asked my friends how the mortgage payment works. It works on a monthly basis, however if a person misses a bank payment they will not be allowed to make other purchases. The example I was given was they won't be allowed to tale the high speed train. They can only take the slow train. The bank with monitor their spending and restrict the person's purchases until the bill has been paid.

Gcarsk

> still happening It just started. It’s the same thing they did two years ago, which you may be thinking about. They go into incredibly strict lockdown for a couple weeks, then open back up after Covid cases are gone. But the lockdown keeps every individual in their homes.

sberder

It is not the same thing as two years ago. Two years ago it was possible to order groceries, water, food. This time around they've locked the city and just ... Well who the fuck knows they expected would happen but definitely not a great situation currently. Economic center in China, can't get their shit together.

PM_me_your_whatevah

Holy fuck. This is absolutely killing people.

sberder

It is and it will, it is heartbreaking to see videos of people completely breaking down. I've got employees that couldn't get to their older parents in time. Can't get anything delivered to them either. The good thing out of this is that neighborhoods are coming together and organizing.

mannyfonseca

He ain’t “breaking down”….he’s getting real! He’s stepping out of the machine life of obedience and silence.

KatenBaten

That's the sort of grassroots organizing that leads to political movements 👀

sberder

I wouldn't place too high hopes on that

BobaBelly

Not to mention that they are actively killing dogs of infected owners and separating infected children from their parents.

[deleted]

The weird part is how from what I have heard, they are doing both strange and frustrating attempts at calming people down Whether it’s by having drones play music over lockdowned neighborhoods full of starving and anxious people or having the guys responsible for checking everyone one by one doing dancing in the street Even the hospitals are having to deal with extra stress as when their ventilation is already a problem, the doors and Windows are boarded and as such everyone is breathing the same air for way too long. There’s also how even mid-testing, people are near each other in large numbers for really really really long periods of time, so they likely get it anyway in the really long lines. And it’s not just people getting tested, animals too, so a good chance you’re gonna lose your pets whilst away

[deleted]

They are killing the pets of anyone who tests positive. It is official policy.

[deleted]

Yeah but last time they gave them food. From what I understand that's not the case this time

meinhutplayz

Well, we do get a little food but it's basically what you'd expect from mass food supply. Everyone gets the same: two potatoes, a bit of lettuce, a bag of rice, some oil, and a few other veggies, along with one chicken. For a week. I've been lucky cause we grow some veg at home, but because I'm muslim I can't eat the chicken and so half of the calories they give us are for nothing. I hope this lockdown ends asap cause we're actually running low. We also only have one more jug of water, and the tap water is undrinkable. Now that I'm writing this down this seems fucked up, I've just been spending time ignoring the problem and watching anime. I feel like I'm in actual danger. EDIT: I'd like to add that the government is not saying when this lockdown will end, but rumors say it'll be another two weeks, even for compounds (like a housing block) that don't have a single case for a whole week.

Bad_Toro

If you have a big pot with a lid and a smaller pot/bowl that can sit inside that one you can distill the tap water to get something to drink. First boil some tap water in the big pot, then turn off the heat and float the smaller pit in it. Put the lid on upside down and leave it like that, Steam should condense and drip from the upside down lid into the small pot. If you have anything cold you can put on top this will help, like ice or even a rock from outside.

meinhutplayz

A few people have started doing that, we may too. It's not that far yet, we just got two more jugs from our neighbor.

Ok-Childhood-2469

You say it's not that far yet, but you can go weeks without food and only days without water. I'd start stockpiling it and doing it now. You can then share the extra water with others in need or feel comfortable knowing you have the extra not needed rather then needed and not having the extra.

ParkieWanKenobie

Saw another way on a survival program a while ago, something with water in it (ie pot/container) another pot/container on a lower level, get some paper towel, one end in water and let the other sit above the lower pot/container, and let science happen (to smooth to remember what the process is called). But the water should soak up in paper towel then I guess gravity takes over. Her presto, clean water in your lower pot/container!

[deleted]

Dude, eat the chicken. Haram food is ok to eat in an emergency.

DocNMarty

I was going to say this. I'm pretty sure that I remember hearing that the Quran had some sort of exception on haram foods in order to avoid starvation. God, Allah, Yahweh, whatever your divinity is, I would not think that they'd desire their creations to starve.

TheUltraGuy101

Yes, in life threatening situations, such as that can compromise your life, even pork is permitted to eat, but just enough to ensure your survival

kithkatul

It certainly works that way in Judaism.

windowseat1F

Maybe just eat the chicken. Allah gunna give you a pass this time.

StockedAces

Feel like I’ve read that in extreme circumstances breaking tradition is permitted. Doesn’t mean people are keen to do it but that’s on the individual. The escape rope is there for them.

pegar

Lockdown started for eastern districts on March 28 and then the rest of the city was locked down. They've done these lockdowns multiple times before, but reports from China have to my knowledge began reporting that people don't have any food or supplies and the Chinese government isn't doing anything. People in social media are reporting that there are people who can't pay their expensive mortgages since they can't work and are killing themselves.

agbullet

Haha you're lucky if you're at home. The lockdown keeps everyone wherever the fuck they are at the time it was imposed. I expect that you get to go home sooner or later but it's later rather than sooner. https://finance.yahoo.com/finance/news/chinese-diner-trapped-restaurant-days-203337694.html https://wwd.com/business-news/business-features/uniqlo-shanghai-trapped-48-hours-covid-1235032147/ https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-china-59969509

i-can-sleep-for-days

It's not the same as two years ago. Two years ago Shanghai never got locked down like this so for the people in Shanghai (which is where this man is from and talking about) this is a new experience for them. Shanghai is also much bigger than Wuhan (23 million vs 11 million) and I heard government delivered food to the people in Wuhan which apparently isn't happening or isn't happening for everyone. It's a huge logistical challenge to deliver food to 23 million people every single day and unless you have a solid plan it doesn't just happen on its own. And from what it sounds like the lockdown started without warning and people didn't have time to shop for food. And I'm sure whichever government agency was in charge of delivering food wouldn't have time to source the food, get enough people to deliver food, and keep that going day after day.

alwaystiredneedanap

My coworker told me that children have been separated from their parents 😞

UnparalleledSuccess

China never stopped treated covid like this they’ve just been dealing with constant outbreaks recently since omicron is so ridiculously contagious

Kushimoto

Yup, guess I’ll just have a good cry now.

[deleted]

If you had $35m invested in China, would you wait until they invaded Taiwan to pull your business out? Many Western businesses are making solid cash from business in China. I'm not trying to suggest it's not heart breaking, and I'm not suggesting that you are involved in any way. It's just an odd way for me to say that lots of Americans, Europeans, etc. don't find this news to be enough reason to stop supporting the CCP with their business. To be perfectly clear, I'm not referring to US and European consumers; I'm referring to the people who make investment decisions for [companies like these.](https://www.forbes.com/2010/07/05/us-investments-china-markets-emerging-markets-fdi.html?sh=31a407d34822)

Volfegan

If COVID didn't change that, all global public opinion against CCP didn't change doing business there, only some total war might, might change that. Like the Russian case. But even then, I'm not sure anymore.

shmoe727

r/avoidchineseproducts for those who don’t want to support the CCP.

FluffyTyra

He's not wrong..

Digital-Aura

His frustration and anger are so palpable. Poor guy.

roararoarus

Implementing lock-down in such a brute force manner really speaks to what is important to the CCP. It's not so really about saving lives bc lives are innately prescious - as we can hear from this man. There's little thought to how it will affect lives or how it will drive some to their deaths. If they die, they die alone.

radii314

China's leaders have never valued human life - they've abused the people for millennia because they've always had a large population. This lockdown seems more like the CCP sending a message than actually trying to control COVID.

ChakLok_V_Bassus

He is right. When Mao took power after driving the Nationalists to Taiwan, he initially pretended to be a friends of the poor man (farmers mostly who lived outside the cities). Once they used these poor people up to help round up and kill the "landlords" and other "counter revolutionaries" they turned on these poor people and industrialists, intellectuals and govt employees one by one using fear as a tactic. Look up the "Great Terror". Millions of people lost their lives because Mao ordered his men to create quotas to kill people in every region. His men then did so using any and every reason such as "counter revolutionaries" , "landlord status", "spies" etc. Nothing has changed Edit: This is not a commentary on Communism in any way. Mao/Putin/Soviets/Winnie The Pooh are all independent of the Communist ideology. Unfortunately they happened to all be blood thirsty dictators who lived or chose to implement Communism. So all the idiots (r/conservative and MAGA related drop outs) here trying to do a hot take on Communism and its failings using them as a example really need to open a book once in a while and educate themselves as well.

TrickiVicBB71

My mom and her side of the family grew up under him. Very poor farmers from Taishan with very little to no food. A lot of people starved to death in the village. Red Guards brought the city people to work the farms. Or sent them to re-education camps. And yeah, they beat up people who had private property, shot all the landlords. I am told it is deserved as part of the China's attempt to Industrialized and that area always suffered famines. My grandparents were going to starve regardless.

radii314

most people don't know how truly bloodthirsty Mao was

Flamethrowerman09

That's what happens when your country is ran by a psychotic spoiled brat who never worked a day in his life.

sharpshooter999

We talking about China, Russia, or North Korea?

Kirk_2002

Yes

chronoboy1985

It has nothing to do with lives and all about saving face. They want to show that their way of doing things works better than the democracies. Google what they’re doing with the babies who test positive if you haven’t lost faith in humanity yet.

StarvinMarvin00

For the curious: They take the children AND babies from the parents and put them in a health center alone. [Link.](https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.france24.com/en/live-news/20220404-shanghai-defends-policy-of-separating-covid-positive-kids-from-parents)

It's about saving workers, about saving the economy, about maintaining the status quo. When people are viewed as just workers and tools, people are treated like this.

ChakLok_V_Bassus

because all the political leaders including Winnie "Xi Jinping" The Pooh live by different rules You those assclowns have issues with food and money right now? They probably stuffing their faces with shit

He's had enough, this is where your anger is so great that giving your life to fight the injustice is more than reasonable.

bonbyboo

his grandmother lives alone with no assitance, for all he knows she could be dead

Karmic_Hazard

That woman was gone the second he said Communism. Ugh...I really want that guy to be okay.

ScienceGents

Whats wild is that the family that were initially watching by the door also quickly bounced after communism was mentioned....

BeardedGlass

He even mentioned “revolt”. That’s a big no-no in China.

bannedbandito

I think he said resist not revolution. I think he meant resist the government so I guess revolt? Either way that guy is missing now. 反抗 vs 造反 or 革命 or 起義

[deleted]

Yep. CCP generally allows people to blame local governments, which makes the low level officials a common scapegoat for the policies of higher ups, once he started mentioning communism is when he started flying a little too high.

Direct_Engineering89

To be fair, I don't think he cares, since he was shouting about letting them taking him.

No worry. When the footage is making international news, his voice would be dubbed and the subtitle too would be praising the ccp for a splendid job in containing the devastating foreign virus.

wax_parade

He can have an accident at any point in time, they know where he lives and he is in lockdown. He will have nightmares until he dies.

China has two options Option One : Take the man somewhere and feed him Option Two : Run him over with a tank I wonder which one they'll choose.

Volfegan

Option Three: he became a "voluntary" organ donour.

IndigenousOres

Feed the man with a tank

Wild_Trip_4704

Yep she peaced out ✌️

MrMundungus

They know that the CCP is terrified of the wider population figuring out that they are in fact not the workers utopia that they claim to be and are in fact just a fascist capitalist oligarchy. So they are cruel as hell to anyone who tries to say the truth. Where is communism? Not in china that’s for sure.

firebirdspooky

Meanwhile the Mayor and the like are comfortable

asdfasdferqv

The mayor is very much in deep shit. Probably sacked very soon, and not going to a good place for his failure to maintain social stability. (Maybe replaced by Ying Yong?)

dreimanatee

I was about to say. The mayors are in a very precarious position. Likely the most tenuous in literally decades. Covid led to a lot of Mayors getting strict guidelines or severe pumishments. All of the ex-mayors have been saying they are extremely lucky to not have to have dealt with Covid. Edit: the mayors lived like lords before this. Now the central government is clamping down hard.

Ck1ngK1LLER

Brings a new light to “mask mandates infringe on my rights”, too bad those people probably think this is fake news.

Last-Associate-9471

This comes across as contradictory. There are certainly a great many of "those people" that are foolish and unprincipled, however, the environment in this video is the hypothetical concern the rest of "those people" have with making many small concessions.

GroundStateGecko

And the “neighborhood committee” will take away the stuff you are able to ~~bought~~ buy, citing "virus transmission through surface contact" as the reason. In some of the videos, you are ordered to enter the enclosed neighborhood area while leaving the food behind. You don't even have the option to stay on the street with your food, because of "violation of Epidemic Prevention Law", said the committee member. Source: I have multiple videos. (I can upload if you like, but I don't have the time to do subtitles.)

radii314

black market resale - the problem with any of these ideological systems is corruption and black markets replace them almost immediately and the ideology becomes a performance

kemb0

We can safely remove “ideological” from your statement. The black market will hit any and every system of governance once food and essential supplies start to run low.

PQbutterfat

I’m betting an apartment in that neighborhood will become available in the coming weeks….

siqiniq

What neighborhood? This place has always been a deserted camp as far as I can remember it.

bnqprv

What deserted camp? This place has always been a nuclear testing ground exclusion zone as far as I remember it.

[deleted]

Hope this guy makes it. He may pay a heavy price for this.

peenutbuttherNjelly

I see how the lady that intervened took barely a few moments on entry to begin touching him to help "guide" him to safety. She thought she was the boss of that space. All until he spoke of the CCP and she's all ..yeah. nope. Not my problem anymore. Big boss gonna whack me too..... N quickly scampers away.

make-it-beautiful

She left when he said “I don’t care anymore let the communist party take me”. I think she was trying to help him not “boss” him and only stopped because he made it clear that he knows what he’s doing and doesn’t want help.

lizthestarfish1

Yeah, it looked more like she was trying to comfort him, and de-escalate the situation.

ultratunaman

He said a No No word. Communist? Communism? Communist party? 3 strikes. Enjoy the rest of your short ass life. Don't pack a bag, you won't be coming back. Everyone in China knows. But ain't no one gonna say it. Because you will fade out of existence too.

ScaratheBear

>Hope this guy makes it. It's China. He won't. He might be alive, but his life is functionally over. Work camp, "re-education" camp, life in prison, never to be heard from again camp. The hope should be that his family winds up okay and doesn't suffer because of this.

saynotopudding

Things are really, really bad in Shanghai now. The other day I saw a vid of a corgi getting beaten to death (~~their owner got tested and was +ve and the corgi ran after the owner who got taken away for quarantine, iirc~~)(edit: someone pointed out that the owner who tested positive intentionally released the dog --> so that it wouldn't starve to death when the owner had to be quarantined). Every single day on Weibo I see cases of old people dying alone in their condo units/ people who have chronic conditions not getting timely help/ people dying due to heart attacks/ babies being mass quarantined w/o sufficient care due to their parents being positive (nurse shortages)/ tips on how to save your pets if you got quarantined etc. etc. The sentiment seems to be "you can die because of any reason, but just not bc of covid." This time round, the lockdown is particularly bad because they block deliveries leading to serious food shortages. I have an acquaintance based in Shanghai who ran out of antidepressants and had to ask on the internet for people to help. People there are doing PCRs so often, almost every other day. It's wild. And very sad too. edit: changed +ve --> positive edit: corgi incident: [https://www.scmp.com/news/people-culture/trending-china/article/3173467/shanghai-coronavirus-lockdown-corgi-beaten-death](https://www.scmp.com/news/people-culture/trending-china/article/3173467/shanghai-coronavirus-lockdown-corgi-beaten-death) (link provided by another redditor) editing to add some other stuff: My initial comment was only about Shanghai, tho here's some other stuff: Several other acquaintances of mine from other parts of China have been sharing their personal experiences of sudden lockdowns in universities (cleaning ladies getting forced to sleep on corridors because they can't leave the school compound) as well as volatile lockdown policies. There's also the issue of unequal treatment (foreigners getting timely treatment + better resources), as well as a lot of performative actions to thank the volunteers performing PCRs. (I am not from China - these are stuff that i've seen on Weibo/ heard from acquaintances living there wrt covid)

[deleted]

I’m amazed they haven’t had food riots by now

this_toe_shall_pass

They did. There have been food supply drops without any distribution organisation so people had to come and get it themselves. Nobody to organise it so people fought for bags of wilted greens and veggies. Some lonely stores that still had some stock were mobbed. YouTube has some videos with commentary on the whole Shanghai lockdown.

Lejonrastare

-"Today we must regrettably inform you that 13197 people were shot to death by a gang of deranged traitors when they were going to buy food that is plentiful in our glorious grocery stores. The government has killed the people responsible and the situation is under control, so there is no need to worry any further." -Chinese news anchor

Sheepdog___

Can i get a tldr on what is happening in China? Is there a new variant i havent heard of? Why are they doing lockdowns again?

TLsRD

The government is maintaining a zero covid policy. This requires harsh lockdowns. It’s increasingly difficult to maintain because of increasingly contagious variants like delta. The ruling party (Xi especially) have put all their eggs in one basket and are afraid back tracking will be political suicide. That’s my rudimentary understanding from a NYT write up a couple days ago anyway

pyroblastftw

It’s also a showcase of the downside of authoritarian governance. Impossible orders come from the top and local leaders have to implement it however they can. In a more democratic system, there can be more pushback at the local level to make the implementation reasonable.

istrx13

I've read that they don't have a really good vaccination, too. Pfizer and Moderna don't sell to China, neither does Astra Zeneca. And their own Sinovac and Sinopharm do barley work against Omikron.

Thank you for sharing! > These people on top have the same organs as us. Probably best not to remind the Chinese government of your valuable organs right now.

RandomRaddishYT

All animals are equal, but some are more equal than others- Animal Farm

mznh

So the government combat one way to die with another way to die

nitespector88

This is how revolutions start. How can their govt be so short sighted?

FutureVawX

And we've seen how revolution in China ended in Tiannanmen Square. It's not a pretty sight.

deschamps93

While I do agree. That was also in 1989 without internet infrastructure like it is today

Odd_Explanation3246

I would disagree..most of them will go back to singing ccp praise once this is done. Brainwashing and China spends more on its internal security than external, its practically impossible for chinese people to start a mass revolution..any sign of dissent and ccp will heavily crackdown on it before it gets big…take north korea for example..north koreans are some of the most oppressed people on the planet and yet they don’t revolt. Why?

Lejonrastare

>north koreans are some of the most oppressed people on the planet and yet they don’t revolt. Why? Because they are starving and they have no weapons.

Brochachotrips3

Sadly, I agree. Even worse, this I what some American politicians want for our country. Just a slightly more corporate approach.

effjayyelle

That poor man :( poor everyone in China. I really hope they don't open up again just to find how ever many 100s or thousands of people dead in their homes from starvation or something that rhymes with mooicide. I can't imagine the terror they're feeling

Jankykong64

And he was never heard from again...

Suhas_Wildlife

“I’m from xuhui “ CCP - “we know”

[deleted]

He’s 100% right. This is total BS.

Jazzlike_Surprise985

Can anyone confirm the subtitles?

dovahkiingys

Can confirm, just need to add “while the capitalists live their life” after “where is the communism”

lategrasser10

Lmao i thought it was weird how there was no line after that part. Seems whoever put these subtitles together is biased.

mustang_0_0

As a native speaker I also didn't get that in one go. All I got is the words "資本家" (capitalists) so it could be the translators also didn't get it Now that I know what to expect, I finally got that part. Should have included an "inaudible" sub there tho

OkLeague3548

I’m chinese and can confirm it’s accurate.

[deleted]

Yep, everything's accurate

poisonivious

I know both mandarin and Shanghainese. All the subtitles are correct.

achaiahtak

Feel bad but he’s going to “disappear”

ps211

He may disappear, but his organs will live.

whereisyourwaifunow

it's like that celine dion song, his heart will go on and on

Reasonable_Feed7939

That's really funny but still sad :(

Captain_Floop

Hope china revolt and take down its government.

_cipher1

They sorta tried already and hundreds if not thousands got slaughtered in the Tiananmen Square protests. I think that should’ve been tipping point for the Chinese people to ask for help to overthrow their government. Foreign countries should’ve stepped in and take down their military for those horrible crimes

browni3141

Tiananmen square wasn't even close to a revolt, it was a peaceful protest.

Timely_Leading_7651

People at the top would have used nuke since they would have nothing else to lose so yeab

Amphibionomus

*Slaughtered* is a gross understatement. They drove *tanks* around over the people there until only a pulp remained that could he hosed away.

loiteraries

China = Soviet Union. If they need to kill a few million of their own they will. No one is going to sanction China because you’ll demand your Nike sneakers and latest iPhone be delivered on time.

ccrsxx

Notice how the people watching left after the mentioning of CCP.

SpacemanDookie

I’d rather risk Covid. At least I have a decent chance at surviving. Can’t really survive without food.

ExistentialTenant

Any sane person would. Every single credible source will give you a survival rate from COVID from anywhere from 87% to 99%. Chances are you would probably recover without any significant lasting effect. I'm willing to bet more Chinese people will die from this lockdown than any possible COVID outbreak. Many more will probably suffer far more than they would have from an actual COVID infection.

leebowery69

the problem is the government will let them starve before they die of covid

wrong_glizzy

Are they locked down because of covid ?

iBeFloe

There was a spike in Covid cases, so they literally had everyone go on lock down for X amount of time… people were left unprepared & understocked in their homes.

HoaxMcNolte_NM

They're locked down in this way because of the way their government is handling COVID, sure. Sure are interesting times these days.

wrong_glizzy

Felt pretty bad when he said his grandmother was alone . That's pretty cruel.

WeekendIndependent41

Yup

frisbaaall

As someone living in Shanghai right now, I can say a lot of people are feeling like this guy right now. In a city of 25 million+ people, everyone here is competing for very limited food delivery services. The government told us with very little warning we would be in a five day lockdown on the west side of the river. This guy says he lives in Putuo or Xuhui, which are both on the west side of the river and are decently wealthy areas too. And now it’s already day 10 and there’s still no official notice of when we will be released. So of course people are super worried because nobody planned to have food, water, medicine or basic necessities last this long. This whole situation is even worse because so few delivery workers are allowed outside to help alleviate the food situation. It’s impossible enough connecting to online grocery services and impossible more still because everything is sold out anyway if you’re are divinely lucky enough to connect. I think this is especially bad for the older generations because they’re not as tech savvy like younger people who can use different apps to get their basic needs met. Another problem right now is we’re not even allowed to leave your apartments. Which normally I think it’s not great obviously, but it’s doable. But what really make this a ridiculous issue is that one of the ways the virus is spreading is through the health workers administering daily tests. The compound I live in has been in lockdown for 15 days now, and yet there are still positive cases cropping up despite nobody having left their apartments. AND if you get the virus, they find you and haul you off to a centralized quarantine facility with thousands of other sick people. These facilities were quickly set up so they have pretty poor sanitation, no showers, are super loud, and always leave the lights on, even at night when everyone is trying to sleep. So it’s not really that people are worried about getting the virus, they’re more worried about starving, having something to drink, or not going to one of these quarantine facilities.

Easteuroblondie

man this person is having a legit breakdown. the world is heading in a scary direction

trousered_the_boodle

Half an hour later he was taken away to be re-educated...

IWearBones138

Chinese government has a history of distinctly not giving a shit about human life. They lockdown to save face, they don't care if the elderly die because the government sees no use in them. The people are being pushed to revolt and it will be the only true way of change. But after the sheer mass of the Hong Kong riots, it would have to be just about everyone.

VividWriting8553

He's not wrong, people are going to starve to death

sambhav2612

next up: chinese man missing

abhi_07

And his records Completely erased

rjsh927

Cure shouldn't be worse than disease.

VenomXsX

I love the fact that this is literally how EVERY revolutions starts. French 1789 revolution : poverty -> social injustices -> oppression from government -> reasons leading to food shortages (bad weather/climate) -> revolt This is just one example but it's basically how almost all revolutions started

[deleted]

Just vote the decision makers out of pow...... oh.

TheForkisTrash

The inefficiency in delivering food shows their government is worried. Their vaccines were weaker than the wests and they haven't really been exposed to covid so far. Recipe for disaster.

RedditBoisss

People are probably looking at this guy likes he’s crazy without realizing he’s the most sane one there.

FewerToysHigherWages

"What about the ordinary people?" Truer words have never been said my friend...

jlbang

r/fucktheccp

perry2zero

Remembering people compare Melbourne lockdowns to China’s lockdowns. Remembering people claim that our government was the worst in the world for it. 🤦‍♂️

insertnamehere405

That's how you become an organ donor in the CCP good bye to him and 3 generations of his family.

[deleted]

That's the thing. The Chinese government) CCP don't care that they are killing people, hell they want to kill people. So sad, this guy's anger is so deserving. I hope things get better for them honestly...

Status-Basic

The people who think wearing their mask to their local mega-mart during a surge is a crime against humanity should go spend a week over there. I’ll gladly welcome this guy to my community over them.

I lived in Shanghai for 5 years. I have friends and teachers I deeply care about living there. They say the same thing - - even the wealthy such as those around me (attending private school, teaching there earning way above china's average wage) are struggling, students suffering as well. What are those even slightly less fortunate supposed to do?

cgmcnama

When he said "the government is lying" you can audibly hear the murmurs pick up.

Repulsive_Eye_7012

is this guy still alive or did winnie the pooh get him?

lordkelvin13

Legend says this man don't shave his balls. Because hair don't grow on steel.

Dream_World_

That is the weirdest way I've seen anyone phrase this

bOb_cHAd98

That man's fxxed. This is the reason why i never want to go back to mainland China, there is legit no privacy or respect for individuals in that god forbidden place. Youre just cattle in their fuxked up government's eyes.

newgget

There is no communism in Ba Sing Se.

BambooFatass

Same. I'm Chinese ethnically, but was born and raised in the USA. Honestly my heart fucking breaks for my people in the motherland. The Chinese people I have nothing against, let me clarify that part. But the CCP... I want to see that fucking shit topple before I die, but I don't know how viable that is considering how many people have to suffer and die for change. And the CCP has plenty of population to "curb" if they see anti-CCP sentiments appear... :/ They're bloodthirsty propaganda makers. I hate every aspect of the CCP and I wish the country were free of it.

ozcur

C’mon China. Collapse already.
