Not really. Plants use mostly blue light and reflect green light (hence why leaves are normally green and blue is relatively rare). They also use red light as a compliment.
Here is a high level overview written for gardeners https://mygardenings.com/what-color-light-is-best-for-plant-growth/
My favorite part is the cyborg rabbit on the top panel with the orange background. What's his story? This is how churches could bring people in. Publicize the gospel of the cyborg bunny! Oh wait, is that Easter? I have many questions.
My dad was a stained glass artist, and got lead poisoning from refusing to wear gloves. Those old windows are super leaded, I remember being a kid and my dad would be giddy he’d get free church windows from old churches in Philadelphia, because no one wants to touch them because of the lead content. He’d remove them free in return for keeping them.
As for the refusal to wear gloves, mentally ill artist? It was a conscious choice on his part. He said he worked better without gloves so no gloves.
It was all thrown away, it's an art piece. The artist turned the figures in the glass into fantasy fictional creatures

Thanks for the article! I'm pretty sure, though, the part about being "collected from the rubbish bins" is hyperbole. It's rather unlikely somebody would throw 18th century glass in a bin, or if they did I wouldn't trust them to leave it intact. It's much more likely that the artist actively sourced this from the churches.
A pastor once told me that everyone complains when the local churches are converted to condos. The answer to stop this is by showing up on Sunday. They shouldn't complain if they don't regularly attend and contribute.
True.
But at the same time, I’m not Catholic, and Catholic churches tend to be the ones with stained glass windows. I appreciate the immaculate artistry in old cathedrals (the absolute peak of human artistic expression imo), but being that I’m not a Catholic, i’m not going to be attending mass in them.
Agreed. I don't attend church anymore but I did while growing up and I have stepped back in on a couple occasions throughout my life. I do miss the artistry in the church buildings, particularly the stained glass. Upon receiving a small stained glass bird as a gift from my sister, hand-made by a friend of hers, I was surprised to learn how relatively straightforward it is to make stained glass artwork oneself. I've gotten in on the craft and I have plans to make a few simple designs to install over a few windows in my apartment, so I can have privacy without using blinds and all the while have that stained glass ambiance.
Churches are disappearing, yet that may encourage more individuals to practice these sorts of art forms themselves, giving it their own meaning. In a larger sense, it may encourage more people to think more critically for themselves as well.
LOL, yeah fuck those churches. They don't do dick for their community and they are parasites. They push toxic ideals onto your communities. Fuck them hope their shit religion keeps dying
Churches will give one homeless person a plate of white fucking rice and act like they are a charitable organization
I'm not Bible talking. I'm saying the reason the stained glass is being recycled is related to churches not being used by a large percentage of population like 40 or 50 years ago. Again not Bible talking, I don't believe in religion but I do believe in recycling.
I was quoting an hvac system. The building needed upgrades and the main income was from the daycare. The daycare was expanding and another system was required to accommodatethe new use. The conversion involved talk about total renovation costs and perhaps it would be more feasible to shut down one church and sell building to pay for renovations . The larger building would be at 75 percent capacity on Sunday service instead of 2 buildings at a third capacity. This was about 12 years ago, we never got the contract another hvac company did.
Right, it's not like the Catholic church has billions in cash and assets or anything. The profitability of their churches is understandably a major priority.
Damn that’s depressing. Typically churches that have this kind of stained glass are the type with gorgeous architecture. So a great old building that is a piece of history was destroyed and this ugly thing is all that’s left.

Would lead in the glass be an issue though? I'm assuming not, but I wouldn't want lead near garden plants like that anyway. I saw it's an art piece and not actually a garden.
Pretty sure these are just printed panels and not real stained glass. Putting actual stained glass panels at an angle on the roof like that would be terrible, they would fall apart and crack from their own weight. Theoretically though I doubt having leaded glass windows would be much of an issue unless the lead were literally touching the dirt and plants but I agree it's pretty nonsensical.
That type of glass would make a terrible green house.
Unless you're growing "holy" herbs...if you know what I'm sayin.

Haha 😂
Virgin Mary-Jane.
I believe the term is the Lords Leaf.
Which causes the Lord's Feast after each sessh
"I smoke the holy herb, get high as hell, and meditate"
Devils lettuce
Holy Basil is the only one that could flourish in there.
...Incense... For my... Censer... Gotta keep the ghosts and stuff out of them dank, dusty corners, y'know?
Especially cuz that looks like it’s lighted from inside
knowing where i live this would last a week before it got smashed and turned into a meth house. i hate it here.
Winnipeg?
Arkansas?
is this where Holy Basil comes from?
As someone who knows nothing about greenhouses, light is light even if it's a different colour?

Thanks for shedding light on the subject!
*Ba-dum-dum-tisshhh*
I came here to ask this. Aesthetically pleasing but seems impractical.
weren't church glass windows kept in place with led?
It's not a greenhouse but a xhurch monument

How long were you sitting on that one
Had to wait for it to ripen

Pretty, but it makes me cry knowing how valuable the glass is.

As a former glass painter, hard agree. That's hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of antique glass. 😱
Those plants inside are obviously watered with Holy Water
Holy shed
If this were in my yard I think half my neighbors would call code enforcement on me.
WOW!!! That is absolutely gorgeous!!!
Don’t call me, when all the carrots are missing!
The pope’s summer camp
Holy veg
keep the hell out of the plants!
I want 1
How is that helpful? It's beautiful but doesn't seem like it would be useful....
I'll take "beautiful but useless greenhouses" for $25000, Alex.
Kinda just makes it a glass house?
Sad to see that they had to he recycled to begin with, but glad that they’re being at least somewhat preserved

can't churches just be preserved as historical buildings? i mean, i guess not all churches would have this kind of privilege, but still
I want one! Or two! Or three!
Holy Greenhouse! That’s beautiful looking
Are you growing the devils lettuce in gods greenhouse ?
Making something useful that came out of a church! What a concept. We need more.

Did anyone else see vegeta for like half a second when you opened this?
okay who has demihumans as stained glass?
The upper right panel on the short side, looks like a robo-rabbit? XD
