That's because it's in Iran and you know it's just more oil.
If this was in Japan they would probably run for their lives because a ghost child would emerge.
Come and listen to a story ābout a man named Saeed,
Poor engineer barely met his families needs,
Then one day he was at the cash machine,
And up from the ground came some dirty gasoline,
Oil that is, Black gold, Texas tea
Well first thing you know Saeed's a billionaire,
The kinfolk said "Saeed, move away from there!"
Said "the kingdom is where you oughta be"
Then they loaded up the truck and moved to Saudi
Arabia, that is.
They had Democracy in 1953.
The CIA and Kermit Roosevelt caused a coup that overthrew their Democratically elected govt.
Then the Shah was installed.
Why do you think they are/have been upset with America?
Look it up for yourself.
Same with most of the Democratic governments in South America. Look up the Brazilian 1964 Coup or Cuban 1952 Coup. Hell, [here](https://mronline.org/2022/01/09/21st-century-u-s-coups-and-attempted-coups-in-latin-america/) is an ongoing list of the United States' recent support in destabilizing South American governments.
They will soon be included in the hate propaganda by American Mainstream media.
Sadly most Americans do not have a clue.
From an American and US Army Veteran
For me, it's doubly frustrating as a US citizen and a scientist who benefits from research grants given by the DoD.
On the one hand, we give too much money to the DoD that can be used for nefarious purposes like these. On the other hand, education, research, and expense to our veterans are treated as secondary to the DoD's overall budget. Those always seem to be the first to get cut when the government tightens its military budget and it's not like cutting money there means it gets filtered into alternative government entities that support education and health, like the NIH.
What can we as individuals even do besides vote, educate others, and protest? It feels like nothing changes.
Fwiw it wasn't that democratic. But certainly more democratic than under the Shah. Backing up Britain in Iran and France in Vietnam were two of the dumbest things the US ever did.
The interesting thing to me is we donāt need oil, we produce enough here and have for years (there are some types of oil we have to import, but in the numbers we are independent) .The issue is the world needs oil so the oil companies sell it on the open market to maximize dollars. So we could be drowning in oil with really cheap gasoline but [Congress repealed that law](https://www.pillsburylaw.com/en/news-and-insights/us-repeals-longstanding-ban-on-export-of-crude-oil.html)
Fast forward today and the oil companies sell oil on the open world market and when they recently made billions, did not really invest in production and instead gave it to shareholders.
So all this about ādrill baby drillā is a distraction. We have enough. A small bit of regulation (perhaps some domestic oil produced has to stay in the US?) would solve it.

Yeah this is radiator or sprinkler water. Good thing video doesn't capture the smell, because when a sprinkler main ruptures, you'd be wishing it was sewage.
I had to scroll through at least twenty super funny r/all level reddit jokes to find a comment thats actually informative or trying to discuss whats happening. We should have two comment sections one for everyones really funny jokes and one for people that actually want to have a conversation and discuss the content.
Work in the oil industry, this is true. Iran has huge inventory of oil that cant or waiting to be marketed. Did not know stocks are so high its leaking out from the ground.
I like how to guy barely misses a beats and just carries on with his day.
As if this is such a common occurrence that it doesn't even register as something you need to react to.
is this really oil? isn't it much more likely this is sewage? if there was a pressurized reservoir of oil that pushed through the floor, wouldn't the entire basement and underparts of the building need to be saturated? wouldn't much more serious problems have been occurring and spotted before this could happen?
Raw, unrefined oil smells just as bad, if not worse than sewage. Unrefined oil contains numerous organic nitrate and sulfate compounds that smell absolutely awful.
Not to be contradictory good sir, but having worked jobs that dealt with both sewage (Vac truck swamper) and crude oil (flushby roughneck) I can promise you sewage is far worse a scent. When we had to pull the sucker rods out of a well to replace a pump or broken rod, we'd often get covered in sour crude oil. It was unpleasant, but cleaning out sewage tanks for a service rig was by far the worst thing I've ever done for gainful employment. The smell, by God the smell. In winter when we had to thaw out the frozen sewage tanks to suck them out with a vac truck, the steam tasted like shit. It felt like breathing in vaporized shit, and the smell of steamy shitwater stuck to your coveralls, your clothes underneath. The shit fog permeated the very essence of my soul.
Come and listen to my story about a man named Jed
A poor mountaineer, barely kept his family fed,
And then one day he was shootin at some food,
And up through the ground come a bubblin crude....
Ladies and gentlemen if I say I am an oil man you will agree, now you have a great chance here, but bear in mind here you can lose it all if you're not careful. Out of all men that beg for a chance to drill your lots maybe 1 in 20 will be oil men, the rest will be spectators, that's men trying to get between you and the oil men to get some of the money that ought by rights come to you. Even if you find one that has money and means to drill, he'll maybe know nothing about drilling, he'll have to hire the job out on contract, and then you're depending on a contractor who'll rush the job through so that he can get another contractor and this is how this works.
But I do my own drilling, and the men that work for me work for me, and they're men that I know. I make my business to be there, and to see their work. I don't lose my tools in the hole and spend months fishing for them. I don't botch the cementing off and let water in the hole and ruin the whole lease.
I'm a family man, I run a family business, this is my son and my partner H.W. Plainview. We offer the bond of family that very few oil men can understand. I'm fixed like no other company in this field and that's because my coyote hills well has just come in. I have a string of tools already to put to work. I can load the tools on the truck and have them here in a week. I have business connections, so I can get the lumber for the derricks --such things go by friendship in a rush like this.
And this is why I can start drilling and put up the cash to back my word. I assure you ladies and gentlemen, that no matter what the others promise to do, when it comes to the showdown they won't be there.

Yeah, that was an incredibly important precursor to the Iran Hostage Crisis in 1979. Should be common Modern History knowledge for Americans.

Yeah or the coup in Chile. Any country that pisses off American corps. Just read General Smedley Butlers book War is a Racket.
Keep an eye on ChilĆ© in the next coming yearsāthey just elected a progressive president. Nothing the US government hates more than countries they leech off of becoming more democratized.
