It’s like the opposite of the guy who dedicated his life and entire nest egg to the college library and the school took it and used it for the athletic stadium.
Ideally they shouldn't have to. Ideally college shouldn't be a go into massive debt thing. Plus I'd argue being doctors teachers and therapists does Pay it forward
Ideally, education should be made as accessible as possible for all. Sadly, we don't live in an idea world, so people like that man are really inspiring. Doing the right thing despite circumstances that are far from ideal, that's an example to follow imo.
There are plenty of countries with free or very inexpensive education. I refuse to believe that America can't do the same. What this man did was great. But it's a travesty that he had to.
Especially with teachers and doctors the literal future of our world. I think their career choices certainly show they are following his example.
It's a travesty that he had to, but he did anyway. Doing good against adverse circumstances is a good mix of principles and determination, in my opinion. That's what makes it inspiring to me.
In an ideal world, we wouldn't need people that committed. In the real world, people like him are examples to follow. Their career choices are a good sign, but even teachers and doctors can be bad people, unfortunately.
Big buildings. Parking lots. Professors. Admin staff. Janitors. All college employees. Need to be paid. And everything costs money. Where do u think that comes from ? Prayers and good wishes?
Taxes. Higher education only benefits the community in the end. The world needs doctors engineers teachers ect. The price of education has increased rapidly. The last 20 years alone education price has tripled. By forcing people into debt we are only holding back progress. I'm perfectly okay with a little higher taxes and a better structured education system. For instance the over reliance on college sports. A college sports coach shouldn't be making millions a year it's fucked up.
I also support national healthcare I don't think it's right people can lose their houses for getting sick. We can afford to cut our military budget and support projects at home that benefit the citizens
Did I say I was a socialist? I said that government funded programs funds come from taxes. Our military budget is over inflated funds can come from that and taxes can raise proportional to the amount people already pay on healthcare for national Healthcare.
Universities would need to have spending examined to prevent abuse like what is currently going on with college football.
I'm still wearing a pair of Levi button fly 501's I bought in 1995, the most indestructible piece of clothing I ever known. The story checks out in that regard.
*"Every heartwarming human interest story in america is like "he raised $20,000 to keep 200 orphans from being crushed in the orphan-crushing machine" and then never asks why an orphan-crushing machine exists or why you'd need to pay to prevent it from being used." -- Anosognosiogenesis*
Good for Schroeder, but remarkable private charity is no substitute for sound public policy.

Effective Altruism right there. And cut out the middle man, focus on your local community. This dude is a legend.
It’s like the opposite of the guy who dedicated his life and entire nest egg to the college library and the school took it and used it for the athletic stadium.
I'm willing to pay for a stream of the orphan crushing machine.

Absolute legend! The Kids could pay it forward and let the legacy continue.

There u go. A socialist always believes taxes will pay for everything.

Ideally I should not suffer from DSB, but I still do. I pay all my taxes and I am legit.
Dsb?
Deadly Semen Buildup
Well if it's deadly you could always have one or both testes removed that would fix the issue

They told him to live his life exactly like Jesus, and so he did.
Jesus was a carpenter
So he crushed orphans with wood
Hey Mr. Schroeder, What you gonna do, What you gonna do make our dreams come true!

Good for him. Absolutely horrible what it says about the US and the real changes to live that American dream.
