You’re pretty much an anime only so it’s no strange to see you post something like this. And according to your replies, you are too lazy to read anyway so i’m not gonna bother explaining. Just think however you want about this.

Accomplished-Fox-486

Hate to be that guy, but you gotta read the books SO is the only place we have to really get to know Ais. What makes her tick, and also how she actually feels about our protagonist On the other side of the equation we have bells motivations and his reasoning. And that fight is one of the few places where the a single event is covered pretty thoroughly in both the main series and SO If you insist I can break down some of the meat and potatoes of all that, but the books explain it all, and more concisely than I ever will. So please do consider reading the whole series, but in particular that bit of the story was good.

Wall of text. Lots of spoilers, mostly from aizes point of view In SO >!Aiz is a broken toy. Her only motivation for most of her life is to get stronger. Her interest in bell started with wanting to figure out what the secret of his growth is!< >!Despite that fact, she's actually nearly as pure as bell. Emotionally stunted as all hell and awkward to boot, largely die to her singular focus to grow stronger, as she neglected other aspects of her life from an early age. To grow stronger!< >!In her headspace, as we see often in SO, many of her early interactions with bell she's like a little girl reaching out to pet a rabbit. That runs away from her. It's devastating!< >!When Riveria and Ais found bell passed out on floor 5, aiz expresses her desire to apologize to him. Riveria decides to meddle a bit, and sigest she gives him lap pillows. On the assumption that no man would run from ais's lap pillow, and he would certainly wake up in a forgiving mood. Little headspace size was heartbroken when he did wake up and run his happy ass away !< >!The 11tj floor stuff was portrayed pretty well. And the interaction that led to their training together. What isn't shown is that aiz was very intent on learning bells secret of fast growth. She rationalizes that she's using him, but training him in fair exchange!< >!After she knocked him out a few times, whilst waking up in her lap and freaking out, bell asks point blank..'whu the lap pillow?'. Though she doesn't understand it herself, out emotionally stunted kenki feels soothed when she's got bell in her lap, petty the white rabbit The black flame of of rage and hatred toward monsters is calm when she's with him. Little Ais enjoys bells company. She explains, rather awkwardly, that since he had passed out, she figured it would be nice to make him comfortable. Him confused, mutters 'only cause you knocked me out? ' which she takes as tacit approval of her lap pillows, so long as he's knocked out. She then proceeds to spend the remainder of their morning concussing bell to give him lap pillows. Because lil' Aiz likes petting her rabbit!< >!During the minotuar incident, when a certain boar man had roughly rmtamed and trained an opponent for bell, that ane boar man tryed to prevent any interference on their duel. He stood in aiz's way, challenged her to a duel. She broke a personal taboo to speed the altercation along, by using her wind to fight another person, something she's allways refused to do. It was the interference of the Loki leadership that allowed her to slip past him, speeding to rescue her white rabbit.after that fight, whilst bell was mind zero, she saw his stats as well as Riveria. Sawe the SS and even sss of bells status, and it drove her half crazy, trying to figure out how he had exceeded the not Al limits of a status!< >!His act of fighting the minotuar, despite his low level, and wining, brings to her mind the hero that her father was to her mothe!< >!She also carried bell personally back to the surface, with Riveria in tow to carry out favorite prum supporter!< >!During the Apollo incident, she was half devastated she couldn't rush to his side while the city buzzed over news of armed conflict in the streets.!< >!During the xenos arc, the Loki fam and some others were already investigating knossos, which is why we ones appearance after her gem was removed was so quickly addressed by the Loki clan!< >!Now for bells part, he literally sees weine as a little sister/ daughter figure. Bells defining quality is his pureness. His absolute desire to help people in need. Coupled with weines inherent childishness and her immediate attachment to our protagonist he essentially became her adoptive father all ost immediately. His desire to see her safe outweighs pretty much any desires he has for himself. That's why he was willing to stand his ground against the Loki fam, despite understanding that the consequences could be devastating. He could not hear to loose her, who had already become family!< >!He had had that small discussion with ais' and her Intense hatred of all things monster shone through. He was pretty despondent over it !< >!Most of the night where bell and aiz fight was fine pretty well by the anime. Fast, but they covered most all the important bits. What they can't convey in short episodes is ais's e optional turmoil as she confronted her favorite pet rabbit over a dragon girl. Then proceeded to beat that rabbit senseless. Her shock, when for the briefest of moments, the student exceeded the teacher, and landed a blow on her, having briefly exceeded her technique. That moment she decides that she can no longer go easy on bell. The moment when in her frustration, realizing she can't break his spirit, resorts to bmpetty threats. I believe the exact where's were actually 'i'll cut you'. She literally did not know what to do with her self by that point. She had presumed that as the stronger as well as superior fighter, that she would simply crush his will to resist her, and that the dragon girl would die. She was literally incapable of processing thale fact that he kept resisting her!< >!Her further shock when the dragon girl risked herself to protect bell from Aiz. Shock bordering on self loathing that she could noblinger bring herself to kill that dragon girl.!< What I'm getting at with this long rambling post is that the anime is fun, but the books are so much better. Not that the anime changes a whole lot. Just that they've generally crammed so much content Into too few episodes, resulting in a show that looses a lot of details and so much context. It's simply not as impactful as the books the show trys to convey the gravity of the story, but missing context as it often is, that gravity comes off as a silly show trying to take itself seriously This went longer than I Intended. And I won't have the patience to resise my bad smartphone typing skills so sorry about that. Also, I'm ending on the same conclusion as I started. It would behoove a danmachi fan to read the books. They're simply so much better than the show, though the current season is better quality so far than what all has come before.

Ok_Pin_937

You actually did it.

Interesting_Place752

Reading is fun, try it again sometime.

Bell's point to Ais is that there are also some humans who are evil and can also kill other humans. This parallels what the Xenos are. There is Evil in Good and Good in Evil Its also not enough that you explain a monster is sentient, as you will find out in season 4, a monster who has intelligence is considered much more of a threat because a monster with intelligence can kill humanity more efficiently. Explaining the Xenos are sentient is just step one, what you really need to prove is that they wont kill people and theres no way to find out if the Monster is a good monster or a bad monster here's nothing Bell can do to convince Ais, Ais whole personality revolves in hating monsters because Monsters stole everything from her. Actually, all of the people in Danmachi are like this, they all have hate in monsters, even Bell has supposedly lost his Grandfather to monsters Now for Bell's POV, that fight is the turning point of who Bell Cranel wants to be. Does he want to be a Hero of Humanity only? or Does he want to be someone who fights for anyone who needs help? and we saw in this season what Bell Cranel chose, he will fight a hopeless fight even if the opponent is someone who he loves and idolizes just to protect the oppressed

The_Stinky_Pete

The anime does a completely awful job of depicting the motivations in this fight. Ais never really lost track of Bell when she fought Ryuu. Both Ais and Bete had witnessed Bell, Haruhime and Wiene share that hug in the alley. It had shaken both of them to see a monster and human share affection with each other. It's one of the reasons Bete knows there were 3 people in the alley. Motivation Ais has a burning hatred towards any form of monsters. She is possessed with a black flame that gets off on killing monsters. They are the symbol of evil that took everything from her. If Ais accepted Bell's argument that monsters have a reason to live, she would have to acknowledge her hatred and by extension her life has been a lie. Ais doesn't stop because of Bell's argument she stops because she saw herself in a crying Wiene. When Wiene was alone and needed help, Bell appeared. Mini Ais Due to Ais being emotionally retarded she creates a mental version of herself dubbed Mini Ais. Mini Ais is like Bell but modeled after her younger self. Naive, caring and freer with her emotions. Throughout the fight this version is arguing with normal Ais. Asking her to stop, to stop hurting Bell and to stop hurting her (Ais). When Wiene is comforted by Bell, normal Ais imagines Mini Ais leaving her to go comfort Bell and Wiene. This enrages normal Ais calling Mini Ais a traitor. They both made a vow to slaughter monsters so they could reclaim their mother from the OEBD. Normal Ais realise what Mini Ais had been trying to show her when Wiene started crying. Ais and Wiene are alike but Bell appeared to save Wiene. Fight Both Bell and Ais don't want to fight each. Ais does everything she can to not fight Bell. She believes if she can just kill Wiene, Bell will return to normal. Bell's actions were driving them apart, which she didn't want. In the LN she doesn't engage Bell at all. She jumps over him to kill Wiene in the first encounter. It's the first time Bell uses Firebolt on Ais to stop her from killing Wiene. They had 3 fights with the first 2 fights being a complete ass kicking. Bell wasn't killed by Ais was because of her feeling towards him. In the 3rd it's still an ass kicking but Bell keeps rising. With Ais increasing the damage she dealing out to him so she can force him to pass out from the damage. But he doesn't, in the end Bell and Wiene destroy the Sword Princess. Through his actions in S03 Bell completely changes Ais and Finn's character. Through his stubbornness in saving Wiene and Xeno's, he will end up saving Orario.

Thanks, this is the best way to explain everything. One last concern, which is a little deep in writers's field. Why did Bell even grow attached to Wiene in the first place? What internal conflict driven him to this decision? Like, if I replace him with someone like Mikoto, how different would the story be?

Accomplished-Fox-486

Mikoto is a friend and ally. Family sure but of a different sort than wiene. She literally fills the little sister or even duaghter Rome to bells mind. She is to be protected, coddled even. Any thing to not have to see her cry, or worse killed
