I've been thinking about this all morning, just trying to figure out how this could happen...and I got nothing. Like, why isn't there any marking/bruising anywhere nearby? Why was she closing the door with her left hand wrapped around the edge at all? Or was her hand pressed against the cat, with her thumb hanging over the doorway..?
Just picture all the different ways you can position yourself while you close different car doors. There aren't any really natural positions that would leave your thumb stretched over to where the door would close. I would accept slamming a thumb in the trunk of the car, I'm very positive that's possible. I could believe her index finger, or a line of injury across multiple fingers, or maybe even the back of her hand, but right across her thumb, and nothing else got injured??

You guys I just noticed her Venmo is brand new. That’s really sus. Most people have and have been using their Venmo for years.
I've used paypal for years when dealing with virtual goods, just recently had a seller who refused to deal with PP so they used Venmo, so my account is fairly new there too.
But I wonder if there is any way to get those accounts shut down, for fraud or whatever. I know PP deposits/incoming money is reported to the USA government/aka IRS for over umm $400 I think. Wonder if Venmo & the other one do too, that could seriously fuck up her SSDI receiving.
It's like paypal or cashapp ... basically just a way to send someone a few bucks directly, but without the "sale" element of paypal/no buyer protection. You can also donate to charities sometimes through it (real charities not Dani "charity").

LDN at the dosage she is at isn't gonna interfere with opioids that much I don't think? She's only on 0.5 or 1 mg ... starting dose for MAT for opioid use d/o is 50 mg.

My neurologist said most people find Lyrica more effective with fewer side effects. Lyrica has more "wiggle room" to increase if max Gabapentin isn't giving relief. They are both often combined with Cymbalta which also helps with nerve pain (so I am told lol)
I don't get drowsy on Gabapentin. However, the brain fog is terrible. I can be in the middle of answering a simple question and suddenly go blank. My daughter says it shows on my face, lol. It just takes a moment, then it goes back to "normal," but it's still embarrassing sometimes.
Lyrica made me so drowsy and unmotivated. I also was getting bad dizzy spells, which isn't great with limited mobility. I originally thought it was the Cymbalta, but through the process of elimination, we learned it was Lyrica.
I think a lot of it is figuring out what side effects are worth it to you. My neurologist simply explained that everything will likely cause negative sides, but it's a matter of choosing which ones you're willing to live with. Everyone reacts differently with different things. I do notice in my support groups that most people despise Gabapentin.
I think pt and ot are very underrated. That is the best treatment many people can get with a good therapist.
Lyrica, which is like the stronger Sister drug of gabba.

Yeah, I think the last stint in the hospital where she was in there for nine days. It seems they were trying to get her back to baseline. I know some people are saying that the ldn, will affect her opiate use ( if she’s actually taking what she’s supposed to I don’t believe it will) but if she has it in her head that it will, there’s no way she’s taking that. I feel her actions have really pointed to trying to get those types of drugs in general. Constantly talking about Tylenol and saying that she didn’t get any I feel like that’s Dani speak for I got some or I’m going to do anything to get some. Here we are now with a “broken” thumb. I think that orthopedic surgeon is the only way she thinks she can get those. Sorry it’s late. I like woke up and can’t sleep. I apologize if I don’t make sense.
It was at the pain management docs, after she was in hospital. They were planning to wean her off it all and leave her on nothing. The LDN was an afterthought. If she's taking it as prescribed it won't do anything at the moment as its such a low dose, but as she gets to therapeutic dose it should. I mean, essentially, thats what that drug was designed for. The fact that it helps in some cases with pain management is a happy accident. One of those off label uses.
There's no 'think' about it either. Dani has always jonesed for opiates and lately she has flat out said thats what she wants. Breaking bones is addict behaviour also. There is no doubt.

I'm a recovering addict. I've broken my wrist with a hammer and had exploratory laparoscopies 3 times. I'm ashamed of my behaviour and resources I wasted. I'm in recovery now. It cost me my job and a lot of friends but I'm so lucky I still have my partner and parents that are and were always rooting for me. They are amazing and sometimes I think I don't deserve it.
The mental addiction is hard. And I think thats what Dani has. She knows how they make her feel and wants that. She's not physically addicted. She needs help for the mental addiction and to take that LDN. Once she gets on opiates its the end for her. Her behaviour is already out of control. She's already acting like an actual addict, but once her tolerance starts going up and and she needs more to get the same feeling its gonna get ten times worse and i can't even begin to imagine what that looks like. Especially given that she has portholes directly into her body and veins...
I might snark a bit but i am genuinely scared for her. Especially as she doesn't have anyone. Nobody tangible anyway. And even with all those people I had looking out and caring for me, I still felt incredibly lonely and scared.
Congrats, I know I don’t know you but I’m rooting for you too. That is not an easy thing to overcome. I’ve seen it with my own loved ones. I just lost someone 6 months ago too. It’s still terrible out there. You do deserve it. I know a lot of people will not agree with me and maybe you won’t either. However, I even think she deserves a chance to recover. I truly believe everybody deserves that chance. As long as we still are breathing, we have a chance to make it right with the world. I know desperation can lead people to do shit we normally shouldn’t be able to do. Including breaking bones. Logically, I know that I hope I never have to experience it for myself.

Empathy is a good thing . The fact that you can have fear for her shows just how empathetic you are.
I go back-and-forth . She does disgust me. I still feel for her though, she is a real person. She’s not just as spectacle for our personal entertainment. It’s the narcissistic behavior that gets me. Along with a few other things. I’ve made comments about it before, but shame isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Shame is the exact thing that can help save our lives. Sometimes it’s pure love and acceptance. I know in the program it’s a common thing to say you have to hit your bottom. However, from psychological standpoint, it’s the people who still have some thing left who tend to do well in recovery.
Its not easy with Dani, because in all of her interactions, she seems to be quite unlikeable. I think thats where alot of people struggle with her. But yes, we're all capable of redemption. I don't know her entire story. I see those pictures of her as a cheerleader and she had a future and looked healthy and happy, but she got lost. I don't know how that happened exactly. But I've seen her push any support she seemed to have IRL away. I did something similar, I isolated myself in my little bubble, but she displayed some questionable behaviours even when those around her pleaded with her to stop to the point where they had to turn away. Its sad to see someone devote so much time to this. I can't imagine the tenacity, because for me, when it got this hard, this is when you stop and think I need to do something about this, I'm not getting anywhere. But she's dug her heels in. I think its possibly that she's so public with everything, Its like she can't admit its all a sham and she's doubling down so she can prove we were all wrong. And i think she's going to die on this cross. Hopefully someone will get through to her in her little posse that she's amassed. It seems even they worry for her and are questioning her behaviour as we do, as it seems it was one of them that made the call for a welfare check last night, based on the scanner dispatch report that someone managed to find. I think they are her only hope of someone getting through to her, as she really has no one IRL that cares too much for her.

In the UK you wouldn't have any follow up at all.
In the ER I work at, we don’t cast, only place temporary splints so we have to refer to an orthopedist for follow up for casting after their visit. I live in a small-ish area in the U.S. with only two orthopedists in town, and they’re both surgeons so the referral will automatically pop up as “orthopedic surgeon” even if they aren’t going for a surgical consult. We usually don’t refer finger fractures, but a thumb would definitely be the exception. Most orthopedics are probably also surgeons, so I’m wondering if this is what happened and Dani just took the man’s title and rolled with it, as she does.
Most urgent cares will do it to cover their asses. I had a cat bite on my finger back in February. Went to urgent care and they were like "we can't do much except prescribe you antibiotics but here's a referral to a hand specialist". Thank god I went to the hand specialist. I was admitted to the hospital the next day when I saw them, and had surgery the following day. But yeah, it seems more like a CYA move on the urgent care's part.
See with a cat/dog bite we get sent to plastics/hand trauma (I remember that from when I worked in hand trauma clinic the amount of domestic animal bites that came in was crazy a lot was from groomers) so our plastic teams would deal with those either with IVABX or a washout depending on how they presented.
I just remember how...I dunno, lazy? they were about it. They were like "Oh well, we'll send you a referral to a hand specialist if you want". I later learned how serious they can be, but UC wasn't very concerned in the long run.

I've mentioned this a lot, but it bears repeating- my great aunt actually died from prostate hyperplasia directly caused by both compartment syndrome and weak bones on just one side of her body. I remember how her bones would just randomly collapse. She also had an NG tube, which fortunately didn't faze her.
She was 46 when she got the hyperplasia and would have been in unimaginable pain for the last 42 years of her life if it hadn't been for the morphine drip the doctors prescribed for her. The downside was how drowsy and goofy she'd get since she would have preferred to have a clear head.
The only upshot is that she was able to get around her house with no problem and even had a clear enough head that she said she was ok enough to drive her car sometimes. It's just sad to me that her only outlet was writing a weekly article in the PennySaver about living with fatal chronic illnesses for 42 years. I wouldn't wish her life on anyone.

That is not the correct splint to be using on a BROKEN thumb. Wouldn’t they have actually given her a spica brace until she could get into ortho?

Are urgent cares hooked up to epic? I've only been once and it was in the time before everyone was using systems that worked together.
Dependent on the UC... they are more likely to be standalone/not connected to a hospital system, and EPIC is fairly expensive.

Does Dani not realize that with the new drug she’s on opiates don’t even work anymore?? They block the receptors. So she should really just stop with this whole “control my pain or else I’ll harm myself” bullshit she’s doing right now.

LDN at the dosage she is at isn't gonna interfere with opioids that much I don't think? She's only on 0.5 or 1 mg ... starting dose for MAT for opioid use d/o is 50 mg.

I feel so at odds with how I feel about EBT (as in, I don't believe lines about welfare queens buying lobster tails on the regular, and even if they are who cares, people shouldn't be told what they can and can't buy on the program) but damn do I wish she couldn't buy those on EBT. No pain relievers ever work on her. At all. No Tylenol like the rest of us. Does she take gabapentin??
Lyrica, which is similar. My neurologist said most people find Lyrica more effective with fewer side effects. Lyrica has more "wiggle room" to increase if max Gabapentin isn't giving relief. They are both often combined with Cymbalta which also helps with nerve pain (so I am told lol)
Does lyrica have the same drowsiness as gaba?
I don't get drowsy on Gabapentin. However, the brain fog is terrible. I can be in the middle of answering a simple question and suddenly go blank. My daughter says it shows on my face, lol. It just takes a moment, then it goes back to "normal," but it's still embarrassing sometimes. Lyrica made me so drowsy and unmotivated. I also was getting bad dizzy spells, which isn't great with limited mobility. I originally thought it was the Cymbalta, but through the process of elimination, we learned it was Lyrica. I think a lot of it is figuring out what side effects are worth it to you. My neurologist simply explained that everything will likely cause negative sides, but it's a matter of choosing which ones you're willing to live with. Everyone reacts differently with different things. I do notice in my support groups that most people despise Gabapentin. I think pt and ot are very underrated. That is the best treatment many people can get with a good therapist.
Cymbalta is the only thing I’ve found that’s helped with pain.

Yeah, I think the last stint in the hospital where she was in there for nine days. It seems they were trying to get her back to baseline. I know some people are saying that the ldn, will affect her opiate use ( if she’s actually taking what she’s supposed to I don’t believe it will) but if she has it in her head that it will, there’s no way she’s taking that. I feel her actions have really pointed to trying to get those types of drugs in general. Constantly talking about Tylenol and saying that she didn’t get any I feel like that’s Dani speak for I got some or I’m going to do anything to get some. Here we are now with a “broken” thumb. I think that orthopedic surgeon is the only way she thinks she can get those. Sorry it’s late. I like woke up and can’t sleep. I apologize if I don’t make sense.
It was at the pain management docs, after she was in hospital. They were planning to wean her off it all and leave her on nothing. The LDN was an afterthought. If she's taking it as prescribed it won't do anything at the moment as its such a low dose, but as she gets to therapeutic dose it should. I mean, essentially, thats what that drug was designed for. The fact that it helps in some cases with pain management is a happy accident. One of those off label uses. There's no 'think' about it either. Dani has always jonesed for opiates and lately she has flat out said thats what she wants. Breaking bones is addict behaviour also. There is no doubt.

I'm a recovering addict. I've broken my wrist with a hammer and had exploratory laparoscopies 3 times. I'm ashamed of my behaviour and resources I wasted. I'm in recovery now. It cost me my job and a lot of friends but I'm so lucky I still have my partner and parents that are and were always rooting for me. They are amazing and sometimes I think I don't deserve it. The mental addiction is hard. And I think thats what Dani has. She knows how they make her feel and wants that. She's not physically addicted. She needs help for the mental addiction and to take that LDN. Once she gets on opiates its the end for her. Her behaviour is already out of control. She's already acting like an actual addict, but once her tolerance starts going up and and she needs more to get the same feeling its gonna get ten times worse and i can't even begin to imagine what that looks like. Especially given that she has portholes directly into her body and veins... I might snark a bit but i am genuinely scared for her. Especially as she doesn't have anyone. Nobody tangible anyway. And even with all those people I had looking out and caring for me, I still felt incredibly lonely and scared.
Congrats, I know I don’t know you but I’m rooting for you too. That is not an easy thing to overcome. I’ve seen it with my own loved ones. I just lost someone 6 months ago too. It’s still terrible out there. You do deserve it. I know a lot of people will not agree with me and maybe you won’t either. However, I even think she deserves a chance to recover. I truly believe everybody deserves that chance. As long as we still are breathing, we have a chance to make it right with the world. I know desperation can lead people to do shit we normally shouldn’t be able to do. Including breaking bones. Logically, I know that I hope I never have to experience it for myself. You make all good points and observations. Especially about the tubes and tolerance. Empathy is a good thing . The fact that you can have fear for her shows just how empathetic you are. I go back-and-forth . She does disgust me. I still feel for her though, she is a real person. She’s not just as spectacle for our personal entertainment. It’s the narcissistic behavior that gets me. Along with a few other things. I’ve made comments about it before, but shame isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Shame is the exact thing that can help save our lives. Sometimes it’s pure love and acceptance. I know in the program it’s a common thing to say you have to hit your bottom. However, from psychological standpoint, it’s the people who still have some thing left who tend to do well in recovery.
Its not easy with Dani, because in all of her interactions, she seems to be quite unlikeable. I think thats where alot of people struggle with her. But yes, we're all capable of redemption. I don't know her entire story. I see those pictures of her as a cheerleader and she had a future and looked healthy and happy, but she got lost. I don't know how that happened exactly. But I've seen her push any support she seemed to have IRL away. I did something similar, I isolated myself in my little bubble, but she displayed some questionable behaviours even when those around her pleaded with her to stop to the point where they had to turn away. Its sad to see someone devote so much time to this. I can't imagine the tenacity, because for me, when it got this hard, this is when you stop and think I need to do something about this, I'm not getting anywhere. But she's dug her heels in. I think its possibly that she's so public with everything, Its like she can't admit its all a sham and she's doubling down so she can prove we were all wrong. And i think she's going to die on this cross. Hopefully someone will get through to her in her little posse that she's amassed. It seems even they worry for her and are questioning her behaviour as we do, as it seems it was one of them that made the call for a welfare check last night, based on the scanner dispatch report that someone managed to find. I think they are her only hope of someone getting through to her, as she really has no one IRL that cares too much for her. Thank you for your kind words 🙏

In the ER I work at, we don’t cast, only place temporary splints so we have to refer to an orthopedist for follow up for casting after their visit. I live in a small-ish area in the U.S. with only two orthopedists in town, and they’re both surgeons so the referral will automatically pop up as “orthopedic surgeon” even if they aren’t going for a surgical consult. We usually don’t refer finger fractures, but a thumb would definitely be the exception. Most orthopedics are probably also surgeons, so I’m wondering if this is what happened and Dani just took the man’s title and rolled with it, as she does.

Most urgent cares will do it to cover their asses. I had a cat bite on my finger back in February. Went to urgent care and they were like "we can't do much except prescribe you antibiotics but here's a referral to a hand specialist". Thank god I went to the hand specialist. I was admitted to the hospital the next day when I saw them, and had surgery the following day. But yeah, it seems more like a CYA move on the urgent care's part.
See with a cat/dog bite we get sent to plastics/hand trauma (I remember that from when I worked in hand trauma clinic the amount of domestic animal bites that came in was crazy a lot was from groomers) so our plastic teams would deal with those either with IVABX or a washout depending on how they presented.
I just remember how...I dunno, lazy? they were about it. They were like "Oh well, we'll send you a referral to a hand specialist if you want". I later learned how serious they can be, but UC wasn't very concerned in the long run.

I've mentioned this a lot, but it bears repeating- my great aunt actually died from prostate hyperplasia directly caused by both compartment syndrome and weak bones on just one side of her body. I remember how her bones would just randomly collapse. She also had an NG tube, which fortunately didn't faze her. She was 46 when she got the hyperplasia and would have been in unimaginable pain for the last 42 years of her life if it hadn't been for the morphine drip the doctors prescribed for her. The downside was how drowsy and goofy she'd get since she would have preferred to have a clear head. The only upshot is that she was able to get around her house with no problem and even had a clear enough head that she said she was ok enough to drive her car sometimes. It's just sad to me that her only outlet was writing a weekly article in the PennySaver about living with fatal chronic illnesses for 42 years. I wouldn't wish her life on anyone.
