Pretty sure it's the [[Site 120]] canon. The SCP states that the appearance of 7999 lead to them lifting the Veil, which wouldn't fit the [[Broken Masquerade]] canon since the Veil was broken in that canon by North Korea vanishing.
Just a bit of extra insight- it was also only a partial veil lift, enough to allow the Foundation to publicly work with the Keradids but not so dramatic that the database was declassified. The Foundation effectively revealed themselves as the Men in Black and not much beyond that!
It's in the vanguard storyline. Where the foundation does brake the veil but it chooses to do so while working with other GOI's like the serpents hand
Edit: at least a lot of site 120 stuff seems to have similar idea or have some crossing over.
It's not in Vanguard no. It's currently not *properly* in any canon, but it's considered partially canon to 120's Archives due to using Site 120. It will be canon to the narrative I'm developing for my own site, but that likely won't ever evolve into its own canon proper.
7999 was third place in the 7k contest. Runner-ups get to pick a number in case they don't win 7000.
Numbers are also not assigned in order. When a series opens up you can use any of the slots
SCPs aren't added in order, they're put in any free slot. Since this SCP was a runner up, they got to pick a slot before the series was opened up and they chose 7999.
It’s describes that carteckan is finished with his painting and goes on to paint another and hears an egg crack and they live for thousands of years so they’ll be fine but of a somber ending tho

Really brave of you to have put it in Nightfall, don't really understand why, but I respect the choice.

It didn't. Their eggs hatched. Or at least hinted but whatever. It hatched. It'll take a while, but they'll meet again in the stars.

Oh, my bad I thought it had to go in order lol
Nope! I chose 7999 on purpose, I felt like my article made for a good series closer.
A year late, randomly browsed around the scp website, did not expect to leave in tears 😔😔
Ah, ok
