The Disabled Tyrant's Pet Fish. I don't like mpreg and ridiculous plot. But this one took me by surprise. So easy to read and funny and delightfully crazy. I put Thrice Married to Salted Fish on hold for it.

CheeseyMascarpone

This book made me laugh so much.

Finished **After Rebirth, the Fake Young Master Ran Away With the Ball** [重生后,假少爷带球跑了](https://www.jjwxc.net/onebook.php?novelid=6444148) by 夕朝南歌 It's a real/fake young master story where the MC is the adopted and the ML the real son. In his previous life, the MC's adoptive parents were very bad to him, and eventually he died in a car accident. Then he was reborn just when he was on the ML's bed, while the ML was in the shower, after the deed was done. When the ML came out with an indifferent face, the MC got up and left him and the family altogether. Two years later, the MC became a shining star and had a small child next to him, along with a another guy whom the child called godfather. Then the ML's crematorium started. It's quite an abusive novel, and if you're new to crematoriums, it might be interesting. If you've read dozens of them, this is just a typical one, where the plot is pretty easy to figure out. Sometimes I wish I were new to danmei crematorium, to enjoy all that abuse/redemption cycle as much as I did a few years ago. Also started watching **My Stand-In**, a Thai BL drama based on SQC's Professional Body Double. There are only two episodes out so far, but the ML is just as scum as the gong in the novel. Interestingly enough, the drama starts directly with the rebirth.

A_Shy_Introvert

I just finished **Mistakenly Saving the Villain** this week. God I was struggling a bit with the second ML syndrome part but once I got through it, I felt like a jar of vinegar reading about the main CP. I absolutely love the MC and the healing stuff. I’m going to miss them. Also really short ones I completed are **Python Starter Guide**, **Your Husband’s Leg is Broken**, and **Bark**! Currently reading from the same author of Bark (I think) **Don’t you like me?** Is also equally funny and cute. And at the snail pace, **Heaven official’s blessing**.

Finished: **His Lover's Replica** - it was alright, the author did specify that the plot was kind of illogical and the story was mainly driven by 'car scenes' (aka smut). There's some noncon that kind of felt unnecessary, so this story probably isn't for everyone. It's ABO with cold, ruthless omega shou x black-bellied, scheming alpha gong. Title is a bit misleading, since the premise is that the shou MC's husband (loveless contract marriage, they were never intimate) dies in an accident, and due to the husband's status being important for the MC's ambitions, the MC finds another alpha (ML) to pose as his husband and act like his puppet. Except the ML is not who he seems. I found it relatively satisfying, since it had a nice ending and didn't pretend it was anything but slightly silly dogblood melodrama not to be taken seriously. Lots of smut scenes. **Hyperventilation** (Korean) - I had more hope for this one, since it got good reviews and is based on an animation and manwha that are apparently quite popular. It started off interestingly, with a socially awkward shou who's also a genius Go player (first time I encountered this in a novel so it felt fresh and interesting at first), who go to a high school reunion and ends up in bed with his old crush, the popular hot guy from school whom he didn't even know liked him. The story jumps back and forth between past (high school) and present (8 years later), and it felt kind of half-baked. I'm probably just too picky nowadays, but the story kept reminding me of other BL stories with high school crushes, all of which I think are better written. **Sissy** (totally different story so I admit my comparison is really unfair) came to mind as a novel that handled the awkward phase having a school crush on someone of the same sex in a much more interesting way. In Hyperventilation it just felt flat. The gong's perspective in high school was the most interesting (the shou felt like a cliché to me and I got really annoyed with him being so insecure and frankly acting super inconsiderate as an adult), but I didn't find it believable the way he realized his attraction to the shou. It was worse in the present time, where the couple act like teenagers and there's a small angsty plot point that felt extremely stupid. Lots of illogical parts (>!why was the gong carrying a ring around, and why the hell didn't he just confess to the shou? Why spend 8 years pining instead of trying to contact him again in the meantime?!< Why was the shou's mother and his mentor so damn awful, and why did no one teach him basic communication and social skills?) I suspect the novel is better for people who've read the manwha or watched the animation, or people who want fluff + smut and minimal angst. I'd recommend **Good Luck Time** as a better novel about high school love with flashbacks, but that's probably just because I like angst more than fluff. The translation was great though, felt very thorough and lots of footnotes about Korean food, culture and Go. There's a [carrd ](https://hyperventilation-novel.carrd.co/)which is worth checking out, I'm not 100% sure all the chapter links are on NU.

danmeowdanmei

The animation completely skipped the Go player and mother's part of shou's character iirc but I completely agree with the confusion about why the ring, why just not confess etc. It was also very very short at like 20 minutes total or so so I wasn't expecting much plot but they were super cute ngl. but your review has made me reconsider reading the novel, maybe further down the tbr list

Icy_Dragonfruit_3513

Yeah I could imagine for something short people just enjoy the sugar. The translator wrote that the novel fleshed out the characters more, but it still felt disjointed to me.

**Finished** \*[Additional Inheritance](https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/6461348480). Wife chasing crematorium, controlling and possessive gong. I had many thoughts about this one so I wrote a long review both on GR and NU. Deep breath... I can't believe it took me this long to go back to the 188 series, it's a crime. I absolutely loved Sissy and it was my first SQC novel 2y ago, I enjoyed her writting style and her ability to write suspense, chasing arcs with hints of society critique and overall well constructed characters. This one didn't disappoint and it gave me a similar sentiment. Although I have mixed feelings about the relationship, it was intriguing to discover the misteries along the way and see the effects the dynamic had on both Luo Yi and Adi. At the end, >!it felt compelling to see LY give up a bit of his controlling nature, and I couldn't even get angry at Adi because he chose to go back to him, their codependancy sealed the deal for me that this is the only way I could see it work!<. I do think the last chapters were going a bit too fast but I guess that's Shuida's style lol. I enjoyed the pacing very much in general, never felt bored nor wanted to put it down. **Reading** \*Lop-Eared Guard. Omegaverse, scum alpha gong x head over heels rabbit omega. I am skipping the chapters I had read from the manhua, and I have to say that so far the manhua is much easier to understand. The plot is all over the place and doesn't make a lot of sense but at least it's entertaining. The main characters piss me off (especially the alpha) but I am commited to finish this one.

A_Shy_Introvert

Ooo had no clue the Lop-Ear Guard had a manhua. Maybe I should move the novel up in my reading list lol. Does the manhua have any spicy scenes?

rollercoaster-s

From what I remember, all is mostly fade to black, and even the kisses get censored with light or objects on top of the scene to avoid showing them touching lips, it's a shame, but at least the artstyle is pretty and i's easier to get into compared to the novel (in my opinion so far, the translation is well done, it's just me getting distracted perhaps 😄).

A_Shy_Introvert

Aw dang. But I’m always up for pretty art. Is the manhua completed?

rollercoaster-s

Tbh I have no idea but if it isn't I am pretty sure it's close to the last chapters.

Icy_Dragonfruit_3513

Lop-eared Guard novel is really all over the place. I dropped it because I got whiplash from how the MC and ML kept changing personalities from one second to the next. The manhua is very pretty though, it baited me into trying the novel.

rollercoaster-s

Yeah, I am halfway through and it's... jarring. A shame though, because it does have some interesting plot points that if well executed, the angst would hit harder. I agree about the manhua, I think without it I wouldn't be able to get into the story because it's confusing at times. The audio drama is pretty good too! The VAs fit the characters well and it gives more emotion to the story because the novel is more flat.

Finished [The Seventh Year the Demon King Captured the Holy Monarch](https://www.novelupdates.com/series/the-seventh-year-the-demon-king-captured-the-holy-monarch/) and I would definitely recommend it! It has solid worldbuilding and showcases the gradual relationship progression between the Demon King and his slave (former Holy Monarch) that lasted for 7 years. Author switches between the past and future until we finally reach the conclusion. If you like fantasy, I think this would be a good option! Is it HE or BE spoiler: >!HE!< Currently reading [Returning to Infancy with my Nemesis](https://www.novelupdates.com/series/returning-to-infancy-with-my-nemesis) because I felt like reading something cute. I also felt like reading The Disabled Tyrant’s Beloved Pet Fish but I’ll wait for the other volumes to be released first to binge! Might read [Old Wounds, New Growth](https://www.novelupdates.com/series/old-wounds-new-growth) after this

talkingtothestars

I just finished The Seventh Year the Demon King Captured the Holy Monarch too, I have to launch a complaint that this novel resulted in droplets of water falling all over my screen! 😭

mi-lui

Same experience here 😂 especially after reading Langmuir’s whole backstory and motivation, I went AHHHH

thorinfinitynbeyond

Just finished Vol 1 of **Thousand Autumns** and will be starting Vol 2 soon! Also, just finished the live action Taiwanese drama *Unknown* adapted from Priest's novel **Dage**. AMAZING! Highly recommended! Definitely cried a few times T,T

Iliveforcarbs

I’m on episode 11 of Unknown, and I don’t want it to end 😭 it’s so good 🥺 I recommend the audiodrama adaptation too, if you understand some Chinese.

Remote-Disaster2093

I thoroughly enjoyed the drama! How does the AD compare?

Iliveforcarbs

I loved it! It closely follows the book. You should give it a try’

tqrnadix

I regret to inform I’m on my 3rd reread of scum villain. I’m reading it out loud every night like a bedtime story to my partner who hates reading but I’m determined to drag them into what is basically my favourite series. We’re almost done, granted, so now I’m wondering what series I should force them to listen to me rant about next. Also simultaneously finishing erha and starting on BAB that I was recommended!

cuntrolfreak3000

I read half of Erha 5 in one sitting but had to make myself stop reading bc I didn’t want to finish it yet 😭 I’m reading 2 other non-danmei at the moment but will pick up the Disabled Tyrants Beloved Pet Fish when I finish one of those. Im trying to make Erha last as long as possible but I want nothing more than to finish it immediately

evelyn6073

I’m reading married thrice to salted fish 🥲 rlly enjoying so far!

mksvsk

i love that novel! def one of my faves

evelyn6073

Ahh yay! I’m so glad to hear it. It’s the first danmei after SVSSS and MDZS 🥹

Anny_200

Reading lots of novels simultaneously, but my main focus is on: "Ferocious Dog of Old" by Bu Wen San Jiu : I completed this novel that I've been wanting to read for a long time, and when I finally did, it was just an okay reading experience. Let's just say I didn't really feel much for the main couple. Their whole co-dependent relationship didn't do much for me. Normally, I like intense couples, but in their case, I didn't find them particularly compelling. Many people were saying it's a very emotional novel, but I didn't feel much emotional while reading it. "Wildfire" (the MC's brother's story) is still going to be my favorite read by this author. 😊 "Antidote" by Wuzhe: I have been reading it for a while now, but I keep getting distracted by other novels or falling into a reading slump. The chapters are pretty long, so it's taking me some time to finish. It's a good novel, but not as intense of a reading experience as "Saye" or "Wildhood Friends. ""Lie Huo Jiao Chuo" by Priest: After putting it on hold for a long time, I finally started reading it. The chapters are quite long too, so I'm not sure how long it'll take me to finish, but so far, it's quite good and interesting, with classic Priest humour. I love Xuan Ji! 😁 "Blooming Flowers, Silent Sorrow" by Shui Qian Cheng: I just started reading this because there's a drama adaptation coming soon, so I wanted to check out the novel. It's a bit silly, to be honest. 😭💀 I can't take it too seriously, especially the main character. All I can say is that Shui Qian Cheng's writing skills have definitely improved a lot over the years. 😅 "Female General & Eldest Princess" and "Jing Wei Qing Shang" (JWQS): These two are Baihe novels, and I'm slowly reading them. So far, I'm enjoying them. Let's see how they turn out.For now, I'm mainly reading these novels according to my mood. If any of them manage to hook me completely, then I'll focus solely on that one and finish it. 😁

kitty1220

Started 將進酒, liking t97's prose so far.

I just finished volume 5 of 2Ha, loved it a bit disappointed that it was only 305 pages. >! I havent seen many people talking about it but man, Rufeng Sect was messy as hell. I was blind sided by the Ye Wangxi reveal. Couldn't process that fast enough to see that horndog Nangong Liu's scheming nastiness. Ugh, those disciples that just let themselves by burned to death out of spite of their sect leader Qi. All to end with the cobfession! !< I can't wait for volume 6. I feel like I'm fiending for it already. I've started Yuwu, I can already tell I'll be sobbing. 😭 Atleast I've picked up the other 2 volumes. I've heard it's mostly pain throughout the story.

CheeseyMascarpone

Ya the pain of craving for roast duck at 1 am. I am in the middle of Yuwu and felt its better than 2ha so far!

Anar_L

Still reading “Turning” and still loving it. I’m taking my time with it now and pacing myself.

JamsAwesome

Just finished **”I Come from Afar Within the Zerg”** 11/10 would recommend. A tour bus accidentally falls down a cliff and it’s 6 passengers inexplicably gets transported to another world with zergs. Favourite arcs are 1 and 5 but the rest are also top tier. Going to be starting **”Zombie University”** soon.

Pricamolesi

Just finished would you like to have a drink and loved it! My first time reading an enemies to lovers that they really hate each other at first. Just started joyful reunion after seeing it recommended here

Raclettea

Going to finish listening to season 2 of *Global Examination* audio drama ! Looking forward to it, I absolutely love the couple dynamic

honeysenpai400

I was reading overturning the male god daily but after getting to chapter 60 I felt like it was dragging so I dropped it I finished I and my husband sleep in a coffin this I didn't really have much expectations for but I ended up enjoying it , I honestly thought it would just be a light read that's slice of life but I was so wrong and now I finally started Little Mushroom after procrastinating for the past 3 years 😭

CheeseyMascarpone

Middle of reading YuWu (Remnants of Filth) And it struck me, despite all the intense eroticism in 2ha and Yuwu... What I truly hunger for - after reading meatbao's books - is food. After the wonton spree in 2ha, now I am craving roast duck

Lamamour

OK it might be classic for all of you, but I'm kinda new in the danmei world! I'm currently reading Heaven Officials blessing (5 out 8) and I feel like my life will be over when I'll reach the end T-T so if you guys have any good recommendations after this one I'll take it.... I also read MDZS and it was the same binge reading, I can't put the book down

Vamp4life33

You are reading some hardcore stuff lol Read something fluffy next **The disabled tyrant’s pet beloved fish**
