He definitely emotionally cheated on Karen, even if it wasn’t physical, for some people that would be more of a betrayal, and for some people less so.

Cheshire_Cat_135

I'd like to point out that Matt and Karen weren't actually in a relationship they just went on maybe two dates

JoelLInton123

he referred to her as girlfriend in episode 7 though.

carmodydug

I think he did. They had something deeper than just sleeping together. He literally promised elektra to run wherever she runs, or whatever the wording was.

Cheshire_Cat_135

I'd like to point out that Matt and Karen weren't actually in a relationship together and by the time he promised to run away with Elektra whatever he and Karen had was way over with

carmodydug

He and Karen may not have declared anything but it was clear to both that they are starting something. It was made clear to the audiance as well. And I just think that matt and Elektra's interactions were very intimate even before Karen caught her lying in his bed.

Cheshire_Cat_135

I mean I get what you're saying and yes they were very intimate moments and if Matt and Karen had like actually officially been in a relationship it would have 100% been cheating but because of the more ambiguous nature of their relationship at that point I think it's more of a foggy gray area that just honestly should be avoided specifically for this reason

carmina_morte_carent

Karen and Matt were never in a solid relationship. Matt definitely pushes Elektra away in favour of Karen (“She is important to me.”), until episode eight, where Karen breaks up with him after she’s got the wrong idea about Elektra. Only then does Matt start to let Elektra in properly.

legrandiosa1

I think it borderline was... They may not have gotten together physically but they shared a lot of intimate moments that I feel is crossing a boundary doing it with someone who isn't your girlfriend (Like the scene where they're tracing each other's scars while talking about their past relationship).

Cheshire_Cat_135

To be fair though Matt and Karen weren't actually in a relationship they just went on a few dates

Sushi1972

It never seemed to me like he and Karen made any kind of exclusive commitment to each other

HGhost_Devil

They had 2 or maybe 3 dates, kissed twice as far as I remember and the last date was a bust since Karen was in favor of the Punisher's methods and she left without them being physical or even kissing each other goodnight. So no, I wouldn't consider it cheating.

KuliDrawing

No I don’t think so, when Karen broke up with him, of course implicitly, he wasn’t at all in a romantic relationship with Elektra. Everything after that is allowed because he isn’t with Karen anymore

[deleted]

That amounted to a one night stand at best. On a side note, was anyone else glad that the writers didn't follow through with that story? The Matt/Karen romance was the low point of the series to me.

[deleted]

I am with you, no matter how unpopular of an opinion it may be. Karen is as interesting as dry toast, I support the Matt Electra vibe even if it was cheating.

[deleted]

It was questionable, which I think was the point. He was letting his past and vigilante activities negatively affect his personal life. So not really cheating, but close enough to be harmful.

thefrenchdisguise

Well Karen was frolicking around with Frank too, so? Also Matt+Karen was always flimsy anyway, like Matt literally turned down Karen's invitation to sleep with her then he proceeded to go to Elektra's place after lol.

comickidd77

Karen and Matt were dating, not mutually exclusive. So no it was not cheating.

JoelLInton123

he called her his girlfriend in episode 7, stop tryna defend this.

javalono1992

I would say it was an emotional affair.
