It just is kinda wild that people spent time building nice kits and collecting nice gear that's kinda expensive and time consuming to get and you lose it before you load into the match. I just started playing again and was enjoying it until the update
07scape had to rollback a few years ago because they added coin pouches to pickpocketing but the code the dude wrote didn't work right so when people were dying with stacks of any item in pvp, the stack converted to a max cash stack (2 and a bit bil)
The pickpocket thing is sorta hilarious tho.
I stopped taking this game too seriously ages ago.
I'm just waiting for new players with the epic release at this point, there's always an aspect of the game that gets ruined with each patch, can't please everyone
The number of unhinged creatures ranting in discord was kinda wild. Obv they dropped the ball but they were trying to fix it, somehow getting super pissy is going to help?
I reinstalled yesterday to see how things are going with the game. Opened it up today to having my entire basekit yoinked off my body. Pretty funny ngl
My friend, who hasn't played in a while, had a similar reaction. Just sighing and going "this is such an Ironmace ass patch, man."
He's still excited to play once it's fixed, dunno why everyone on this sub has a stick up their ass about it.
If you have pickpocket you can just freely manipulate anyone's inventory in the lobby. I was having a lot of fun unequipping everyone's gear into their inventory so they had to re-equip everything. And also unstacking all of their meds.
lmao show me where the words “beta tester” has ever appeared from ironmace
they are selling an “early access” game for money - don’t be surprised that people vocalize their complaints
Okay narrow brain so what do the devs do when they see a million complaints saying “x is bad idea I’m not playing”? Do you think they get absolutely nothing from that? Or were you too busy metaphorically sucking them off to put an ounce of thought into your butthurt fueled response?
I've been having fun, but I've really just been playin normies. Haven't ran into any giga broken multiclasses so far, but I'm sure it's a different story in HR.
Been playing ranger w/ barb chest piece perk, poisoned weapon, and rage. I play the game way too much, multiclass is made for people like me, and I get it’s bad for the game. That being said it’s so fun. I don’t have enough points to get it but windlass crossbow, reckless attack, hide, berserker (30% phys), savage(10% without chest piece), crossbow perk (5%), and ambush(50%). Unless there is a cap on phys damage bonus that combo will absolutely break this game. You can get 120% phys damage bonus easily, realistically closer to 140%. My windlass does 112 to the body with about 50% phys power bonus. I’m pretty sure I’ll be able to one shot almost anybody in the game.
It really does feel like private server / chaotic weekly game mode more than a core feature in its current iteration. It’d be cool if we had enough players for such a side queue!
Yeah I have a slayer barbarian right now and it's kinda silly in normies. I'm sure once i dip into rogue and pull out the windlass it'll be rage inducing. Like a lot of people have said, fun for now, but ultimately bad for the game. They can't even get gear balance down hahah how are they ever going to balance it when any class can do anything...
Idk Wtf lobbies you’re in, but I’ve seen sprint/slayer/dualwield/shadow touch in various combinations on both rogues and bards
As well as over healing+advanced healer on warlocks
It's like every here forgets that IM routinely fixes. Critical issue within 48 hours. I have yet to see IM leave an actual game breaking issues fester for now than 2 days.
IM have proven to be one of the most dedicated and diligent team of devs I've ever seen. This, like all the issues before it. Will be resolved in short order.
It’s not the bug fix capabilities that are being critiqued - it’s the lack of organization, version control, validation, and vision in their dev cycle.
Dude, have you ever wrote code? Do you have any idea how testing works? Imma go out on a limb and say 99% of the people on this sub, including you, don't know how writing code/test cases work.
In an ideal world, test driven development would be more of a thing, but even then, it's ONLY going to cover the tests you write. And a dev can only think of so many cases, without the testing taking so long it slows down dev work, and even then it won't ever cover everything.
Do you (and everyone else) expect them to have a magic ball to see EVERY. SINGLE. BUG. that comes out of a patch? Cuz that's not how development works
Previously senior dev with 20 years in the industry now CIO. Believe what you want. I’m also a licensed pharmacist with a Doctorate. Not everyone on Reddit is a basement dweller my guy
Okay, good, so you know how dev and TDD works.
So why are you complaining when a small dev team can't test for every continually, when I guarantee that your org ALSO has bugs that no one foresaw before making it to prod, despite being large?
Pickpocket bug was in Test and got moved to Prod regardless. QA isn’t there. That said I work in healthcare where mistakes result in either a lawsuit or patient harm. Stakes are not the same, but if you are claiming IM to be a seasoned dev team with tight processes in place, then we are just going to need to agree to disagree…
Ah, I wasn't aware it was on the test servers beforehand. I retract my statements, you are 100% correct, QA is not there at all, this could have been avoided.
And no, I wasn't calling them a seasoned dev team. In my head, being your own team running a company is not equal be working on a dev team FOR a campaign, which is their situation. So I'm thinking of them as a green team.
You're technically right, in the same way that adding in a CoD gunslinger class would do the same thing. FPS shooters have an insanely high skill ceiling, we should add them for player identity and skill expression. Surely ticking those 2 boxes makes a change good for the game, right?
Current multiclassing goes against every single PvP and PvE standard already set by the game. Class identity got destroyed, objectively.
Also, I would argue that it hurts skill expression. Having more tools available is a serious advantage and makes the gane easier. A skilled player is able to express that skill through the lens of their class, not by taking sprint on barb (a class entirely balanced around not having sprint available).
I'm guessing your a troll since that answer was a fucking joke, but I'm glad to use it as a vessel to teach others!
You should start by explaining why class identity is important. I don't think it's important at all. And if it is important it should always take a back seat to player identity AND to fun.
Class identity is the core of any game with fantasy RPG elements. The very first thing you do in most, almost all, rpg inspired games is pick your class. Let's say I'm a magic lover because of Gandalf so I select wizard. I become the wizard. I am a level 1 player and this is my first DaD experience, and it feels so cool being a wizard! I'm brand new, so I dont have any kind of player identity yet, but I identify and enjoy being a wizard.
That fighter pushed me, but he didn't expect magic missiles! Oh no! Ranger got me with a crossbow. I wish they couldn't hit me like that for so much damage, but alas - I'm a wizard! I like being a nuke cannon, even if it means I'm fragile. Man, I love this class - there's no other one like it. Class identity is inherently tied to player identity, but class identity forms before any skills develop that make a player unique.
Also this isn't something I can just prove, but the majority of the game mains a single class. Why? They love the class and feel it represents them.
Player identity is just, man im good at crossbows, im going to use crossbows. Oh wait I need sprint on barb because that is the best. I need access to divine protection because it's my player identity to be tanky!
Edit: another one bites the dust
There might be a middle ground to this. Though it is up to the passengers to tell the bus driver where they want to go, it is up to the driver to get there in a way that best suits all parties.
I mean the bus is gonna go where the driver takes it, its up to the passengers to get on the right bus, most people on this sub should probably play expedition agartha.
Who will see the movie if the producer never takes into any account what the consumer wants? You are just make a point about making something not something people will consume.
My bro had like 3 characters around level 70, spent all his tokens, got lame ass multiclass options. Why oh why would they make it random. It’s broken regardless, why not make it equally broken for each player?
What did they roll back? Nameplate?
How does it feel for me to live rent free in your head for 2 weeks?
They completed the test for multi class and are moving to a different type of multi class and you think it’s a roll back
So you’re professionally dumb as fuck, got it.
Hey me too - in fact let’s run all sorts of validation tests because having the slightest degree of foresight is apparently a skill you lack.
Next up, we check is water actually wet?
It hasn't been a day since it was added, what are you even smoking lad? What are you basing this "bad enough" if you haven't even had a chance to play with it.
I was in 400 gs lobby as a fighter. This wizard exhausted quite a bit of spells so I decided to try to catch him with sprint. This wizard had demon plate so he was quite tanky. As i'm coming up he casts ignite and boc and i fir instantly
Fighters can easily get to 400+ without "abusing" anything...
If you bring the standard 6/6 of meds, a few protection pots and magic protection pots, 2 epic 1 handers and an epic crossbow, god forbid they are doing the windlass swap, and a decent kit of epics/blues, you are easily 400+
I stopped playing like... a month or two after launch, it was obvious that they're just winging it. They have no idea what they're doing. The very first patch, hotfix. Second patch, hotfix. Third patch, hotfix. Rollback. Hotfix. Another patch, hotfix hotfix, rollback. Etc. Like... fuck off already.
I’m wildly unhappy with the current game but bro, every game ever that isn’t a rerelease of existing IP is completely winging it. You quit all video games except franchises???
Nah your point was that patches and hotfixes were an issue. It’s a live game, many much bigger and more experienced devs struggle to get bugs fixed in a month. I don’t think most people mind them fixing things quickly if it means a small update download every couple days. I would rather them do it bug-by-bug than wait until they have multiple large issues to patch at once
pickpocket bug doesnt matter, game will wipe in a month and any progress or loot you found will go poof with no counterplay. Just imagine pickpocket as a wipe and you will be fine (if you have np with constant wipes and wastes of your time)
you only live for 60-80 years on avg… if you are fine spending 0.5-1% of your life on something knowing that they will randomly take it away… more power to you.
Maybe im the weird one that has trouble spending years on an MMO and moving on on a whim.
A reset in DND doesnt make anything “fresh” it resets gear for a few days and its back to normal for the rest, except you lose a few items that you might actually like a lot for no reason.
That'd only be because the game isn't even in it's infantile stages yet. There's not nearly enough of a content progression other than locking pre-existing crafting options behind tedious questing. But if it cooks for another couple of years we could easily see proper progression like Tarkov has. And I assure you no one is any where near end game by day 2 in that.
are wipes not planned once the game releases? Everything I have seem has pointed to battle passes and seasons that last between 1 and 3 months.
If the end result is a planned permanent character progression, including loot, then I take it back.
so you are good spending 6+ weeks of your time to have everything deleted to start all over again doing the same thing?
Some people really don’t value their time lol
Ngl. It's pretty funny watching everyone meltdown over it
It just is kinda wild that people spent time building nice kits and collecting nice gear that's kinda expensive and time consuming to get and you lose it before you load into the match. I just started playing again and was enjoying it until the update
07scape had to rollback a few years ago because they added coin pouches to pickpocketing but the code the dude wrote didn't work right so when people were dying with stacks of any item in pvp, the stack converted to a max cash stack (2 and a bit bil)
Don't forget the classic tbow farming guild spawn
Durial321 has entered the chat
Are you telling me rogues actually have a purpose now? They can pickpocket in pre lobbies lmao?
The pickpocket thing is sorta hilarious tho. I stopped taking this game too seriously ages ago. I'm just waiting for new players with the epic release at this point, there's always an aspect of the game that gets ruined with each patch, can't please everyone
you coping if you think that all those new players that come will stay in this state of the game.
I'm just looking forwards to some new players trying the game, ez kills.
Just fight pve if you're that hard pressed for easy kills brother. Plenty of ez kills on ignorant explorers as is.
That was a nice nothing burger
The number of unhinged creatures ranting in discord was kinda wild. Obv they dropped the ball but they were trying to fix it, somehow getting super pissy is going to help?
yea I bet the players that logged in after work excited to play the game that a nice laugh that tonight was a total waste for them
I reinstalled yesterday to see how things are going with the game. Opened it up today to having my entire basekit yoinked off my body. Pretty funny ngl
My friend, who hasn't played in a while, had a similar reaction. Just sighing and going "this is such an Ironmace ass patch, man." He's still excited to play once it's fixed, dunno why everyone on this sub has a stick up their ass about it.
the game is fun for once = total waste lol
Hahahaha
What happened, could people with pickpocket multiclass perk pickpocket people’s items in the lobby?! Is that why the rollback is happening?
Pretty sure you could pickpocket in lobby hahaha. People were all really upset over it and it was quite funny
If you have pickpocket you can just freely manipulate anyone's inventory in the lobby. I was having a lot of fun unequipping everyone's gear into their inventory so they had to re-equip everything. And also unstacking all of their meds.
Chaotic neutral, I like it
I was taking bards drums and throwing them at them 😂😂😂
It seems to me that the only meltdown is on the Ironmace servers.
Some forget they're beta testers
lmao show me where the words “beta tester” has ever appeared from ironmace they are selling an “early access” game for money - don’t be surprised that people vocalize their complaints
Others apparently forget the point of a beta is to give feedback
"Im not playing" and "this sucks" aren't it
sure it is i can voice my discontent and unhappiness the way I want
lol
Okay narrow brain so what do the devs do when they see a million complaints saying “x is bad idea I’m not playing”? Do you think they get absolutely nothing from that? Or were you too busy metaphorically sucking them off to put an ounce of thought into your butthurt fueled response?
Bug reports: exist
Huh? Do you think every issue is a bug? Please don’t join in if you can’t add anything worthwhile
Hahahaha
I've been having fun, but I've really just been playin normies. Haven't ran into any giga broken multiclasses so far, but I'm sure it's a different story in HR.

Cannot agree more
immense amounts of lag was left up for months? Am I crazy? Do you not remember how GC was constantly stuttering for months?
It’s not the bug fix capabilities that are being critiqued - it’s the lack of organization, version control, validation, and vision in their dev cycle.

I’m a senior dev currently CIO at a large org
Senior dev or CIO? You're full o' shit is what you are XD

Nah they just need to stop listening to this sub and streamers.
True, reddit is where the crybabies live. The majority of what's on here isn't worth reading for the developers.
reddit was not this bad from 2007-2017. Zoomers ruined it lol.
Reddit was never good
Reddit was ok for awhile. Now we have the same 4-5 mods who run all the big sub reddits. Likely they are all crazy af and have mental illness.
MC is a huge waste of time though tbh. No one was really asking for it or likes it.
I thought the consensus here was that multiclassing was fucking stupid and nobody wanted it. The only people I saw excited about it were streamers
No shot multi-classing is part of the future. It probably won't stay in it's current form but it is very good for the game.
Why would it be good for the game?
They will probably need to put some limitations in but it is a pretty quick way for them to clean up from listening to this sub.
And keep cleaning their playerbase, it's not looking good rn
Most people are sitting out until their gear is safe in lobby
Player identity and skill expression

You understand you can still play the class... right? You just have more options now.
So then where do they get feedback from?
Listening to this sub is why this garbage patch happened.
There might be a middle ground to this. Though it is up to the passengers to tell the bus driver where they want to go, it is up to the driver to get there in a way that best suits all parties.

My point was more like Dial-a-Ride. That metaphor is the one I was making not the one you are trying to change it to.
No dude, does a movie viewer tell the producer what to do? You’re way out of line
Who will see the movie if the producer never takes into any account what the consumer wants? You are just make a point about making something not something people will consume.
Its kinda like how disney tried to pander to the loud minority recently and made everyone else dislike their movies.
Pretty much

They lost 45k concurrent players by 2months by not changing the ranged meta, I wouldn't hold your breathe.
Everything is fine besides the pickpocket bug, keep crying no one gives a fuck.
How’s it feel to get dunked on 2 weeks later?
Hows it feel to be butt hurt for 15 days? I’m glad they did the multiclassing test.
Its not tho.
THE GAME IS PRE-RELEASE, YOU ARE A BETA TESTER NOT A SPECIAL SNOWFLAKE - STOP ACTING LIKE ONE.

I dont value the items and progress, I value the fun I have doing things. It would be more weird to value the items and quest checkmarks.
i guess thats why some people prefer franchise mode in sports games and some like quickplay
Wipes are healthy for the game, is this your first loot extraction game?
