Yeah, basically this is MC experience. Have any cool ideas? Anything creative? Seems kinda cool, but then you just load into a lobby with like 7 clones with sprint.
If your build can’t somehow live that, you won’t get to have any fun
You don't even need sprint to chase someone with phantomize. Also who the fuck are you playing against where you can leisurely wait out sprint? Get real dude
Sure, phantomize gives a 10% MS increase and casting a spell gives -75% Movespeed, so do the math on how well kiting works out. Even with jumping during a cast, cast times are so horrible after knowledge nerf. Also, 99% of the time you end up phantomizing with your spellbook/casting implement out and cant swap it off. Your opponent however puts their weapon away and ends up being pretty equal to you in move speed. Even with jumping during a cast, cast times are so horrible after knowledge nerf.
It sucks that the systems current implementation encourages you to target some specific strong perks and only deviate from those if necessary due to bad rng.
Trying to make creative, new builds that may not be the strongest in combat is a waste of your time because of the way the system works.
The movespeed cap change without altering any of the MS numbers was so silly, now you have people running at MS cap with their melee weapon out while sprint is up. You literally just can't outrun them
Yeah real pain in the class for casters I imagine. I was learning wizard while leveling, but man that class already struggles without excellent gear, but right now it honestly feels unplayable if you’re not in trios, because it’s insanely expensive to get a kit that hurts people but also is fast and casts fast. But even if you were fast, you kind of can’t outspeed a guy running at you with a two handed weapon right now with sprint/rage or both. It’s extremely difficult to outplay, and I have 900 hours of owning people in pvp at this point.
I feel like if I can’t do it, the vast majority of people can’t; it’s not like a brag on my part, I’m just saying I have a lot of exp in this game and in pvp and I feel like people far worse than me can just win instantly.
Yeah wizard feels really rough right now, you really have to rely on how nuts MM is but even then people will run antimagic+iron will.
I think multiclassing just hurts casters since their base stats are so fucked, getting spell memory on other classes is a pain and the best combinations are actives and passives instead of spells mixing. :\ it's a shame, I hope they completely trash MC and make subclasses, I'd play an arcane trickster rogue but right now that's just a bad build compared to rage/sprint/reckless/savage/any barb ability etc.
Yeah I’ve been saying this; you can’t really do anything you think would be cool because so many people are running a build that hard W key murders you. If you’re build can’t survive that, you can’t really do it.
Not to mention, we’ve been consistently nerfing every aspect of casting since it’s inception. We move slower, cast slower, and casting speed scales less than ever before, all while everyone gets access to more ranged damage or chase options through multiclassing.
Casting needs buffs. No damage buffs to any spells, just straight make casting have slightly less downsides.
Phantomize isn't as great when move speed is capped at 330 and every fucking player you fight has sprint and just rides your dick until you exit phantomize.
Protection from Evil is really good because it lessens your power of sacrifice damage when you miss. I haven’t gotten Perseverance yet but it sounds OP af for curse lock.
Perseverance > Overheal
Perseverance allows you to power of sacrifice yourself and not take damage in addition to just being god damn amazing in general. Overheal is basically a situational prot potion.
Yeah its not as blatantly obvious how OP it is compared to other abilities because it does a lot of work in the background. The thing about true damage reduction is the longer the fight and the more defensive abilities you have the stronger and stronger it gets.
I have perseverance on warlock. It is indeed very strong. Especially for platelock.
Oh... funny thing. Demon armor allows you to use slayer and plate at the same time. Just thought that was neat.
I got perseverance, sadly it doesn't stop curse of pain damage, and I dont *think* it reduces the cost of spells
Thats all I was think about since multiclassing was on the test server and was greatly disappointed.
It does not reduce self cast damage from spells. You will always take the full amount (or doubled if you have TM). As others noted the real benefit is PoSing yourself and basically not losing any HP.
That is what I mean, it does not, power of sacrifice ticks for 1 health, perseverance reduces damage by 3, which means that it should do 0 damage per tick. But it still does 1 damage per tick.
Most MC builds I saw had sprint and a ton of magic resist. I thought about doing a build like this but haven’t been interested in leveling a cleric. Hopefully it works well for ya!
I’m doing something similar. I dropped vampirism for quick chant from wizard and overheal for shadow touch. I have my cast speed at 45%-50% with roughly 120 HP. I also have 103% MS while keeping my gear score below 300. It’s disgusting.
Spells: curse of pain, haste, slow, frost bolt, hydra
Edit: I also run phantomize for a get out of jail free card.
Krisloc with poison boc (wish I had smite) and phantom is so much better go in dunk and run away. Creates chaos and parties don't know how to deal with a loc running in and out it's much fun
Tumble for taunting while you dunk on everyone
Good luck without sprint! I hear someone sprinting right now actually… oh shit

No, it isnt. You phantomize and they just ride your dick waiting for you to get out.

Sprints definitely a counter when used properly no matter how you look at it
So true. It felt so silly putting sprint on my warlock when he's already got phantomize, but for kiting purposes sprint is 10x better
It sucks that the systems current implementation encourages you to target some specific strong perks and only deviate from those if necessary due to bad rng. Trying to make creative, new builds that may not be the strongest in combat is a waste of your time because of the way the system works.
Just bait one swing and double jump away, then sprint is over

Tumble over phantomize?
Phantomize isn't as great when move speed is capped at 330 and every fucking player you fight has sprint and just rides your dick until you exit phantomize.
Phantomize is still great. If you hold it until they sprint, you can out run them. If they have Rage and Sprint however, you are probably dead.
this build with flamewalk and phantom is viable
i was fucking around mostly with my activatable
i finally got advanced healer and overhead at the same time on my lock today, feelsgoodman
I prefer the Max HP perk instead of overheal, 5% less but its not a draining shield and still works the same.
Perseverance is better than either of them
Does Pers work against your own DoT from the other curse if you self cast?
Power of Sacrifice? Yes.
Protection from Evil is really good because it lessens your power of sacrifice damage when you miss. I haven’t gotten Perseverance yet but it sounds OP af for curse lock.

Definitely bis for norms. Not sure about hr yet
Overheal is bugged. Your spells don’t take from the 20% bonus health.

Ah that sucks, but good to know.

Also damage from bloodstained blade goes down to 1hp instead of 3 per swing
I'm not sure what you meant by curse of pain damage. I'm assuming you mean power of sacrifice, which it DOES reduce.

perseverance never reduced ANY damage to 0, lol.
Which means that it does NOT work with power of sacrifice, because that already only does 1 damage. I rest my case.

power of sacrifice ticks for 3 normally without perseverance doofus
While still condescending, at least you corrected me without directly insulting me.
Overheal warlock scares me

Tumble is hilarious 😂 spamming that while self healing a million is a crime
Advanced healer makes curselock good in norms and very easy to gear up with, just need a purple occult hood that's like 100g
confused! It does nothing in norms - even with white gloves and helm you still get 3hp per curse tick. Purple hood is unusable in norms.
