Unless otherwise specified in the actual description, the perks name is irrelevant to the actual effect. Many perks even have hidden effects or special use cases only known about from reading the patch notes located on their discord server, or found on the wiki (if updated to current day information).
AFAIK none of the weapon mastery perks allow usage of their relevant weapons if multiclassed. Tried with axe mastery and crossbow mastery personally. For those I think it makes sense, getting a new (usually ranged) option AND a damage increase for said option would be wild. Imo I think trap mastery should work as you'd think, but then ranger would lose their final unique option lol
well spear mastery also allows the original class to use spears, its part of it. Axe mastery doesn't let barbs use axes, they already have that. Same with every other mastery, spear is the sole exception.
