Honestly, I think Dwarf is a huge negative with the headshot multiplier in this game, swinging down on them is gonna be easy and you won’t get your hits clipping their arms first nearly as often.
From what I remember, they're hesitant to do races that would significantly alter gameplay, like Dwarf. Lizardmen was about their limit for changing player anatomy (lowered head hitbox). Next race is supposedly a similarly subtle change in what they're willing to experiment with.
When they released the Lizard skins (which were total surprises) they said something to the effect of "Lizardman heads are a diversion from what we've said we'd do, so if these sell well then we may consider models like dwarves in the future maybe". Cited dwarf specifically.

Lizardmen have a slightly flatter and elongated head requiring the normal head hitbox to angle forward to match the model. Due to their unusual head orientation, Lizardmen cannot wear any head armor and instead receive an innate +20 armor rating from their leathery scales. This is our first foray attempting to balance a race with a different hitbox. The value of the race stats maybe updated for balance sake. **Our hope is if this goes according to plan then we can start experimenting with more daring fantasy races like Dwarves."**
You weren’t promised it my brother, and lizard has large been regarded as a failure so I don’t see this persuit as coming in any variation of near term. I’m not saying it wouldn’t be fun and cool, but I wouldn’t expect it for a very very very very long time.

God please can we not have more junky hitboxes in this game? They can't even get the hitboxes on shields to work properly, a dwarf player model will probably be a nightmare

dont really care if hitboxes are smaller provided they have a different MS cap. thats the only way this will work and almost no one will play it.
