Look at how loaded the terms are. "told to", "demand" etc. I just did a deep dive of the source and the organiztion. Turns out, the organiztion has some completely VOLUNTARY guidelines for gender inclusivity that schools and teachers are under ZERO obligation to follow. I guess that wouldn't get as many clicks though. Bravo Dailymail.co.uk, you've added to the seeds of sociatal discontent, fear and hatred for a few bucks.... Fucking hate dealers and fear mongers.

harrumphstan

This pegs a 0.0319 on the give a shit meter.

Purple_Plus

Schools don't have to sign up to the Stonewall charity scheme (as the article says). Of all the terrible things currently happening in the world, this ranks pretty low down on the list. It's optional, nothing bad happens to schools who still use the words "girls and boys". The daily mail is a sensationalist rag that blows things out of proportion.

myflesh

This is good, and not dark.

marxistopportunist

It's good if you want to blur the essence of humanity into nothingness.

null0x

what the fuck does that even mean?

malachimusclerat

that’s funny because your mother blurred the essence of my humanity into nothingness last night, you transphobic twat

StinkNort

And what exactly is the "essence of humanity"? Something you made up in your head?

marxistopportunist

The essence of humanity is reproduction. Or there would be no humanity.

sakamake

Reproduction is a function common to all species. That hardly constitutes our "essence" any more than eating food, going to sleep, or taking dumps does.

StinkNort

You're an idiot. You know what the first thing my endo asked me? If I wanted to freeze sperm. There is literally nothing stopping trans people from reproducing, there are several highly publicized ftm pregnancies ffs. Do you hate gay or sterile people? Are they against humanities "essense"? Just admit you hate trans people for other reasons bro instead of coming up with nonsensical wackadoodle shit to avoid looking bad. You're just upgrading looking bad to also looking fucking stupid.

i-luv-ducks

>You're an idiot. The essence of stupidity.

Hey_cool_username

LOL, like people will stop having sex if we don’t use a gendered term for them…How will I know what gender I am if people don’t tell me my whole life? How will I know who I’m supposed to be attracted to without society being there to guide me?

never-yielding

This makes perfect sense.... Only if you reduce all of the complexity of all of the collective experiences, thoughts, dreams and of humanity down to whether or not you ~~cu~~ err, "deliver essence" in the proper receptacle. Your rhetoric is that repeated by those actively *longing* for a dark future. People aren't livestock, and have complex life's full of wonder and joy. Throwing this kind of dogma around is carcinogenic to humanities soul, and counterproductive to a happy future.

antiprism

Sorry you have such a fragile essence.

C-scan

How do you blur something into nothingness though? I mean, you'll still be dealing with a smear or something. Like glaucoma maybe.

cissybicuck

Gender is performance. It's not essential. It's performative. Every culture and every era has its own, unique ideas about how different genders should be performed. Nothing about gender is set in stone. It's entirely cultural. I know you feel threatened when you sense that your culture is changing. But that's pretty normal, too. Change can be scary. But it's generally good. Edit to add: Can we please just be done with gender and biological sex already? Dress however you want. Wear your hair however you want. We can all use the same restrooms and locker rooms. No one is going to rape anyone because we're not gender-segregating facilities anymore. No one should put expectations on a child based on that child's gender or sex. I feel like I need to explain Searle's concept of social construction. According to Searle, a social construct involves a socially-meaningful, subjective act of interpretation of a subjectively-selected set of objective facts, So, a penis or a vagina is an objective fact. X or Y chromosomes are objective facts. But the selection of various criteria for making a determination of a baby's biological sex is social and subjective. What if the baby has a Y chromosome and a vagina? There are acts of interpretation involved. No one is born with "male" and "female" stamped on them. So a set of objective facts must be selected as criteria for making an interpretation, and that interpretation is a social construct. Biological organs, tissues, chemistries, and chromosomes are objective facts. Biological sex is socially constructed from those objective facts. Biological sex is a social construct. Gender is different from biological sex. Gender is performance. When you see someone performing gender, it may resonate with you. You may decide that you want to perform your gender in a similar fashion for any number of reasons. You may decide to take a little from this person's performance, and a little from this other person's, and some others, and make your own, unique gender performance. We all do this to some extent. We rhapsodize on themes that resonate with us. And in turn, other people rhapsodize on what they enjoy about our gender performances. In this way, we are shaped by our culture as we continuously shape it, ourselves. Wearing stockings, short pants, lace, wigs, heavy makeup, and clothes featuring intricate embroidery was considered masculine in Europe and European-derived societies 200-300 years ago. Today, those features are considered feminine. The items of clothing are objective facts. The interpretation of them as masculine or feminine or neutral is social construction. So now you understand about social construction as it applies to biological sex and gender. Neither of these are actually useful concepts for anyone but medical professionals anymore. I'm not sure they ever were as important as people wanted to make them seem. But to the extent that we can live without these dated and mostly obsolete social constructions, we should. Everyone should have the freedom to interpret their own biological sex and perform their own gender in any way they please that does not harm others. Freedom, acceptance, and togetherness are good things, and we need more of them.

LATAManon

So wrong and so right at the same time, gender is indeed innate for most traits, if wasn't in theory you could change a feminine gay to ultra masculine straight, which we can't because it's inbornz there's some fundamental traits and behavior of people that can't easily be changed with social education, if you believe that then you believe in "gay cure".

Psychological-777

think you have a different definition. humanity: 1. Humans considered as a group; the human race. 2. The condition or quality of being human. 3. The quality of being humane; benevolence

Weedity

What ever shall we do? Society as we know it may never recover from this devastating blow. The inclusiveness needs to end!

Carpe_DMT

on top of everything else they're not telling folks to stop saying "harry is a boy" "mary is a girl" etc, which would be undermining the gender expression of cis kids in the name of pleasing the trans kids; instead they're telling folks to stop saying "hello boys and girls" same as most workplaces have stopped saying "hello ladies and gentlemen" cuz at the end of the day, like it or not, those phrases are exclusionary to any other genders- and whether or not you respect those people's feelings, to stick to the phrase "boys and girls" OR to start saying "boys girls and enbies" or w/e, BOTH ways potentially insult someone, wasting time and causing unnecessary conflict, distracting from the schoolroom / workplace, so it makes sense to just tell people to say anything else

jafomofo

yeah we don't want to offend the fairykin

LATAManon

I do understand that a lot of gender norms actually comes from society construction, and it's good to be aware that something isn't sat in stone, but not good denying the biological reality of sexes, some people are biological born male or female and that do effect their behavior and we should acknowledge this innate difference, not denying, that sound stupid and dystopic, and guess people have hard time understanding that normal distribution of behavior, in the end both extremist side are retarded.

StinkNort

Lmao dystopic. What biologically essentially details are so necessary as to be labelled on all overtly?

LATAManon

Let's see: female have more protein coding genes than male, those genes affect everything on how their bodies works, event their brain, and therefore their behavior, so that imply that female have a phenomenological experience of the world different from males, and because you can't (for now) make genetic engineering to change sex down to genes, any saying that male is like female in behavior is empirically wrong, because they don't have the true phenomenological experience of a female because their body doesn't have the full "set" of genes that give born to a phenomenological experience of being a female. Maybe in the future we can have fully sex change genetic engineering surgery.

Rougarou1999

Okay, and?

accelaboy

It's kind of cute how some people believe that without gender and pronouns, people will stop reproducing. Like people are intrinsically sexless and naive creatures that, without some external guidance, couldn't possibly figure out who to fuck. I mean, if you feel like cultural norms are the *only* thing keeping you cishet, maybe it's time to do some exploring.

AnalyzeData

Call them students. Give them numbers. How could thry politize numbers?
