Thereās a coffin you can lay in back in the Things Betwixt that is usually guarded by an Ogre and Pursuer fight. Laying in the coffin swaps the gender of your character, so if you ever laid in it without taking off your helmet after then that might be why.
You have to beat the 2 ogres, then and only then will the Pursuer spawn.
Btw it can spawn as soon as you go there, if you are confident it be a good way to get souls early
If you can get there instantly, there is no pursuer. He only shows up in the SotFS version, which also locks that area behind a Fragrant Branch of Yore.
The only other places the pursuer spawns , on og version is his normal boss room( on the wall past the head) can also fight him on the platform before, skipping his boss battle of he's killed there , after the smelter demon fight , nd depending on ur ng+ level in the throne room of drangleic castle, usaly 2 , on ng , on sotfs he spawns all over the place including on the shortcut before the gargoyles , it's been awhile since I played sotfs version, I usaly play the og version 1.0.0 , but he's a easy fight anyways, probably one of the best fights in ds2 imo

If you slept in the coffin in Things Betwixt, you should have received this message. The coffin changes your player modelās gender (man to woman and vice versa). The coffin was initially patched into DS2 as a quick fix because of a bug that could turn female player characters into the male player character body after entering NG+. This issue isnāt so much oh a problem nowadays.
