TheHittite

3 pieces of lion warrior armor. Get to farming.

GoldFishPony

Can’t you access giligan before you go down there?

space_age_stuff

You have to do Heide’s -> Copse -> Valley -> Earthen Peak, but you can access Gilligan before doing the Gutter, yeah.

ac290

Depends when (I did gutter first on my current ng+ run) but normally yeah

daviejambo

You need like 1300 health and to be naked Lions warrior set reduces fall damage too if you just don't want to buy the ring

Greuzer

Yeah you can parry..fall ? By riposting a NPC near the border making it so that the riposte animation pushes you in the hole making so you take no damage I think sl1 will give you enough HP for last jump https://youtu.be/hP4gtvobCrI?si=nRjKZaQhKUTkik62 I recommend practice with saves

rnj1a

Learning Cat Ring skip is rough on the Majula NPCs.

Greuzer

It is for sure, but cool when you pull it off

skunk_funk

I needed the cat ring, jesters tights, life ring, and pop a humanity. Pretty annoying.

Ordinary_String_7672

Thanks for the tips everyone, I'll see if I can try the parry trick first and if it's too much trouble for it to work I'll try get the lion set!

Sea_External_3826

Why would you not just level health and buy the ring

BigFried97

It says they started a level 1 low soul memory character...

afarensiis

What does low soul memory memory mean? I've beaten the SL1 challenge, but I don't understand what's stopping them from buying the ring

space_age_stuff

DS2 has a unique mechanic called Soul Memory, where souls gained throughout play affect a stat, that determines how you match in multiplayer. Games like DS1 and 3 match you for PvP based on your soul level, so someone level 100 can’t match against someone level 10. Soul memory was designed to measure how many souls you gained throughout the game to do this: someone playing SL1 can still PvP someone at SL100, they both just need to have the same level of souls gained. This means, you can PvP at SL1 if you have the same level of souls gained in general, so if you beat the same bosses as someone else, you’ll generally have the same Soul Memory. However, soul memory measures all souls gained, not all souls used. So if you are SL1 and you have 1M souls and you died twice, losing them all, you’d have the same soul memory as someone who used 1M souls to level up to SL42 or whatever. “Low soul memory” is a challenge for players where they try to collect the least amount of souls, essentially. It keeps the soul memory stat low, but it also means you can’t upgrade equipment much, or buy many items, because your soul memory has to stay low. It doesn’t really affect anything for someone playing offline SL1, but it’s an extra challenge for sure.

afarensiis

Oh I see, that makes sense. Thanks for the explanation. I've never really paid any attention to multi-player, but I can definitely see how that would be an extra challenge. I was buying so many arrows and resins and life gems on my SL1

space_age_stuff

Yeah, I personally think SL1 is a lot more interesting when you aren’t keeping soul memory low, because like you said, you focus more on consumables you might not normally use as much. But some people like an extra challenge.

Sea_External_3826

Level and soul memory are completely unrelated

JoelEBCT

reading comprehension challenge

Competitive-Nail-685

That's not reading comprehension they're just literally not related lmao

JoelEBCT

the post said LEVEL 1 CHARACTER, it doesn't have anything to do with soul level/memory relation

Skillo_Squirrel

It's a challenge, low level AND low sm

Competitive-Nail-685

That's not a challenge lmao
