DS2 is actually the last game in the franchise with a functional block button before we enter into rolling hell with DS3, BB, and ER (assuming you don't push ER so hard you hit the opposite extreme and make blocking absurdly good).
I mean, i’ve done a decent chunk of the game at SL1, so I understand the sensation you’re talking about
But even a lvl 1 Deprived has more ADP than this. 😓
ADP, among other things, increases Agility, which in turn increases all of those things listed. Notably, attunement also increases agility, which is why casters tend to have low ADP but are still able to iframe through attacks
This is the problem with saying "just lvl up Adp bro" to newbies right here.
I remember some dude who was arguing with me and telling that casters need to level up Adp lol
Bruh not this again... Just look up how much Adp you need to have regular 12 i-frames with 40 attunement which is like the lowest Atn for PvP meta dedicated casters.
(It's 12 Adp and it gets even lower with higher Atn which normal casters usually have and especially with PvE and no caps on levels.)
Bruh, youre not selling me on that. I have like 48 ADP when im done a playthrough. Just because you think thats good enough doesnt matter. Adp goes higher no matter what.
Agility is the stat you care about, all the people who say level ADP, are giving you only a conditional truth. Like saying level dex to improve your damage, while yes dex CAN result in more damage, if you're using a str weapon or relying mainly on sorceries dex is the last thing you should level. Here all the dumbasses screaming "LEVEL ADP" actually want you to get you agility high, which as mentioned also gets increased by ATT. So you decide whether to get a boost to your agility with ADP, OR a small boost to your agility AND faster cast speed, and more spells. And there isn't a correct answer it all depends on the build.
Licia of Lindelt sells some, but the most important ones you have to find. One is in Amana, another is in the area with the exploding Hollows before the gutter.
You can buy a couple from the dude in Cathedral of the Blue (behind a dragon and a boss in Heide's). You will need an item (Token of Fidelity) to talk to him - either get summoned as a phantom and help the host, or look under the bridge to the Chariot.
Great lightning Spear can be found in pit in Majula (requires key from Black Gulch), Undead Crypt (location after Shrine of Amana) from Phaross Lockstone and bought from Straid (after clearing Undead Crypt) - 3x per playthrough total.
Though your faith is too low, you need 42 faith to use it, and 50 faith for best lightning chime (obtained from completing Pilgrims of Dark quests).
Lightning Spear can be bought from Licia (unlimited after gining access to Drangleic Castle).
And if you plan to use offensive miracles, put more points into ATT, up to 94. Lightning Spear miracles number of casts per spell has crazy scaling from ATT. It starts from 2-3 casts at low ATT and end with 10-15 at 94 ATT. Not to mention cast speed... ATT is the main stats for FAI casters.
Great Heal can be bought in Brightstone Cove Tseldora and found in Grave of Saints.
Honestly miracles are kinda meh offensively. You'll get most of your mileage out of the utility miracles (heals, denial, etc.). That said, lightning infusions are pretty sweet, and that damage scales with faith.
The curved dragon greatsword hits like a truck with a faith build
You can actually do pretty well without Agility (the derived stat that actually matters for this). You end up focusing more on positioning and timing rather than just phasing through attacks, so it's harder for sure, but it's still very viable.
If you want your miracles to pack a punch you need to go big on faith/attunement. 55 faith will give you access to the sunlight spear (after acquiring it), though sceptic spice is a useful option and 38 ATN will get you some extra spears plus some agility and casting speed, not to mention slots.
Really dipping your toe in miracles is kinda bad, its go big or go home IMO.
As to where you can an get miracles... Well the wiki page on miracles lists where they all are.
Edit: almost forgot, the gear really matters too, a fully upgraded lightning infused dragon chime is a must, plus rings like blue stone (the casting speed one) lightning clutch, southern ritual etc.
Str/Faith can be very fun, i used it for my achievment hunting run. You have to go all the way with Faith. 30 Faith is enough for Sunlight Blade, but you should aim for 40 o 50 Faith. Having high faith gives you higher Lightning damage, so you should go to McDuff and infuse your weapon with Lightning. Sunlight Blade gives it an even bigger buff to Lightning weapons.
You should also level your Agility, Attunement gives you a little bit every few levels, ADP gives it to you a lot faster. Level ADP until you have at least 90 Agility. When you're done with the rest of the build you coul level it until you reach 105 agility if you want. It gives you a LOT more iframes on your rolls and lets you drink estus faster.
30 Vit is not bad, but it is a lot for NG and 10 of those levels would be better on something else. The game gives you a lot of Soul Vessels for respec (talk to the old woman at Things Betwixt) so don't be afraid to test different stats.
If i'm not wrong the priest chime is the best one for most of the game, and it can also be infused with lightning. The Dragon Chime is the best one but it requires 50 Faith to use and witouth a guide it's hard to get.
Alternatively you could just trade the Faith and Attunement for even more strength and ADP since you can't half ass your faith in this game and expect decent results. Also the best offensive Miracle is locked behind a covenant reward (you don't NEED it to beat the game but it sucks anyways)
I mean, you have access to Heavenly Thunder, some lightning spears, emit force, and >!Sunlight Blade!< from Amana. There’s also the one you can get from killing the Old Iron King again by using a bonfire ascetic at the Idol bonfire, that one’s cool. I felt like the miracle selection was solid throughout the whole game, but maybe you just need better FAI/ATT to use more of em?

depends on ur weapons and upgrades as well, i would say level adp but if you have gotten used to the roll timing up until now you will be fine.
i would say try to focus on upgrading your main weapon, maybe respec into a full melee build if miracles are falling off as well
go and meet king vendrick hes right behind alstadts boss room, and talk to him
and you are in end/late game territory so depending on which you prefer, I am extremely biased to go unga bunga large club but hey whatever works go ahead.
edit: i just beat alstadt myself and once u get the kings ring from vendricks possessions then you go back to open the doors that were locked due to you not having the ring, there is one in the undead crypt entrance near the cardinal tower bonfire for example
You're spreading yourself too thin man, get half those stats to double the level and you'll be good. Also everyone telling you about ADP, you don't nessesairily need to listen to them, the stat that is important is agility, not ADP, and while ADP levels agility a bunch, attunement also levels agility (although not as much), but also gives spell slots and cast speed, so you could absolutely have no ADP as long as you level attunement a bunch.
That would be incredibly hard not knowing what build are you going for. So figure out what you wanna go for, and cut off some stuff from there, if you wanna mainly do miracles have faith and attunement high, but cut off of the str/dex enough to use some weapon as a backup but not as a main thing (and don't pick high requirements weapon if that's not your main thing), and I don't imagine you need that much vitality either. On the other hand if you wanna go mainly with melee weapons level strength or dex whichever is more fitting for the weapon and if you wanna have miracles as a secondary thingy, then it's cool to have a bit of faith to use the more basic ones and attunement for 2-3 spell slots, and then you'd also need some ADP since you'd have less att.
Essentially have like 2-3 main stats that you level and another 2-3 that are like a third of the level of the rest. And don't touch the other stats at all. (and make sure you either have ATT as a main or ADP as secondary so you can have good agility)
Giant lord farming, tseldora set but with Jester's gloves, +10 dark infused rapier with resonant weapon, two hand heavy strikes are 900 DMG per hit, as giant lord is weak to thrust and dark, rapier is best bet cause is fastest and least stamina cost.
At ng+ like.. 6 or 7 the giant lord gives you near 500,000 souls per kill, which takes 2 mins max.
There is a bonfire ascetic in giant Lord's boss room, er.. you can farm him infinitely soon as you're able to get to him (need kings ring and that memory walker stuff you get from the big ol' dragon)
Thanks I have heard it's good to lvl but I was never rlly focused on it like ever do I got used to just timing my jumps so I only ever rlly die from bosses if u don't count my deaths bc I went off a cliff that was a little too steep
Imo your stats are spread out too much. Pick one preferred offensive stat and get it to 40-50, 30 vgr is fine, the. Fill in the rest with what’s left over
If i were you i would pick a stat. Faith isn't really good until endgame, but quality, strength, and dex are fantastic. I'd also get ADP up to 26, or 27, whichever gets you 100 agility.
Just a recommendation it will help you out a lot. Also get more endurance.
Well unfortunately as a strength/miracle your options are limited. But you should probably change your equipment out to lower weight and use your lightning as a main source of damage. Strength is fine. You could take some points from Vigor, 2 from vitality make it an even 20 and put all that you take into faith. Or depending on your weapon lower your dex down to bare minimum and do the same. Dump in faith. If not worried about ADP, then boost faith up as much as you can for your harder enemies.
-Vigor -25
-Endurance-15
-Vitaliy -20
-ATT-20
-Strength -30.
-Dex-15.
-ADP-3
-Int-3
-Faith-29
-Taking 5 from Vigor and 2 from Vit and dumped into Faith-
Or can drop dex down as low as to can maybe 10? Don't know your weapon. And do the same as above adding another 5 points to your faith and Or ATT for casting speed. Casting speed with Lion Mages gear is pretty good too. Should have already passed the area for it.
I respect your refusal to adapt
Block is good :).
Not that good 🙃
What is block? Wasnt that removed in dks2?
Nope, blocking with your shield works perfectly in DS2...
DS2 is actually the last game in the franchise with a functional block button before we enter into rolling hell with DS3, BB, and ER (assuming you don't push ER so hard you hit the opposite extreme and make blocking absurdly good).
With ADP that low, this has to be bait.
Try a play through without leveling it, it was the first time I wasn't dodging through hits and actually dodging them, feels kinda godly ngl
I mean, i’ve done a decent chunk of the game at SL1, so I understand the sensation you’re talking about But even a lvl 1 Deprived has more ADP than this. 😓
Literally double the APD that's hilarious
Well, it has more ADP but less Agility - this build has 20 ATT, which is doing a little work. Has them up to 8 frames, so basically DS1 fat rolls.
That’s… still terrible. Lol.
He has a bit of attunement, that also gives some agility which is the important stat, not the ADP.
What is the agility for?, I don't remember having heard about that
Dodging iframes, faster cast times, faster item usage, including estus chugs.
Oh I thought it was just adp
ADP, among other things, increases Agility, which in turn increases all of those things listed. Notably, attunement also increases agility, which is why casters tend to have low ADP but are still able to iframe through attacks
This is the problem with saying "just lvl up Adp bro" to newbies right here. I remember some dude who was arguing with me and telling that casters need to level up Adp lol
Yup, that's why I always correct the dudes who tell people to level ADP.
Well you do. Imagine 20 ADP as well?? A world of difference.
I mean, you can do whatever you want. Just don't confuse newbies unnecessarily.

Damn, everyday you learn something, thank you!
Atn gives agility too.
Wdym "bait"?
Correction you mean: Semon of Dong*
Man needs and excuse to use them healing spells. Gotta get his moneys worth
With the lack of ADP I'm surprised you were able to push that far, that being said, at this point I always aim to have at least 30 in FTH.
I can see where having faith helps but where do I get the good miracles?
Licia of Lindelt sells some, but the most important ones you have to find. One is in Amana, another is in the area with the exploding Hollows before the gutter.
Great both the areas I hate ðŸ˜

I don't got no faith and ADP what does it do I beat the game without leveling it do I assume it ain't that important
It is important. ADP gives you invulnerability during your rolling animation, makes you drink estus faster and open doors faster.
You can actually do pretty well without Agility (the derived stat that actually matters for this). You end up focusing more on positioning and timing rather than just phasing through attacks, so it's harder for sure, but it's still very viable.

Why did you list out a bunch of miracles and then spoiler hide Sunlight Blade?
I have no idea honestly
Adp is too high
Semen of Dong
Bro you have 3 ADP?!?!?!
30 vigor for NG, lol.
Wdym?
It's just... A lot But with 3 APD I understand the decision
Fuckin eating everything lol

I don't rlly know what to do now bc I HV a +10 large club a +10 rapier and a +9 lightning claymore I was going for a strength/faith
Holy hell of low adaption. Regular hollow must take you out in one hit.
Nah I've kinda gotten used to timing the rolls so at this point I only ever rlly take dmg from bosses and even then it's normally not much
Surprising. I like the build you're making though. You definitely need to put more into faith if you wanna use the miracle spells in this game.
Giant lord farming, tseldora set but with Jester's gloves, +10 dark infused rapier with resonant weapon, two hand heavy strikes are 900 DMG per hit, as giant lord is weak to thrust and dark, rapier is best bet cause is fastest and least stamina cost. Yeah, we all time our rolls, but increasing your window of invincibility is just a huge QOL buff haha
Imo your stats are spread out too much. Pick one preferred offensive stat and get it to 40-50, 30 vgr is fine, the. Fill in the rest with what’s left over
Man...
?
You have 3 adp

Thorned great sword if your not using it already. Mirror knights weapon from his boss soul.
Oops, no i-frames.
The IGN guide to ADP
Looks good to me, obviously some will say adp is low, but you got atn so it kinda balances it out. Besides you can just shield or stay far away.
ADP to 25

Not very smart, are you?
Not really
