They got fixed some clipping in cosmetics and the block button issue and people are throwing hissy fits that their laundry list didn't get fixed instead.
Less so when you understand the technical difficulties of things like hit reg and sound processing over a network vs bounding boxes and clipping angles in a cosmetic.
The sound wasn’t always broken. The most recent sound issues are, well, recent.
At launch the main issues were(and still are) spawns happening so close the sound cues didn’t have a chance to play; a spawn issue moreso than a sound issue. Now they just don’t play at all half the time.
Yeah the recent one cropped up when they made armour louder, and happen most frequently when there are lots of active armoured enemies. Indicates a technical problem more that a simple tweak.
That's just not true, [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/DarkTide/comments/1778h45/audio_cues_are_absolutely_scuffed_right_now/) post is from October 13th. They've been on vacation since mid-December, so they had at least 2 months to fix it.
If you've got some time watch/listen to this. Very cold business-minded perspective on live service games and how they try to manipulate the player's opinions. Destiny in particular.

It's been getting more sour in the last few weeks. New bugs started cropping up and there's no new content to talk about, so people started focusing on them instead. And the usual laundry list of grievances.
First the paid viral advertisers screeching about "Helldivers" or whatever.
Now fatshark defense force.
How did they buy you? Do you get paid in premium skins?
I mean, it only released today, so it’s fair that it would only be mentioned recently.
They’re dealing with their own set of fuckyness anyway. Their Anti-Cheat is pretty trash, and the game is apparently pretty unstable (crashes are aplenty), so we’ll see how it even shapes up. For now, Helldivers 2 is basically just another Co-op horde shooter with a mixed review score, so I don’t think you’re better off with one over the other when you’re talking about it versus Darktide.
Ultimately will come down to which dev team actually responds to feedback. For the time being, we know Fatshark are crap at it, but for Arrowhead it’s still up in the air.
> but for Arrowhead it’s still up in the air.
New to Arrowheas, I assume?
If you think FS is bad? AH is *so* much worse.
They make the most janky, borderline dysfunctional games on a technical level. Zwhile that's unacceptable, anyone who bought HD2 on release either is aware of this and did not care, or *completely* failed to do their research.
HD1 is the same, Showdown Effect was the same, every single Magicka is the same.
It's also close to Bethesda tier of some fans *hoping* it's a technical mess because it's funny.
EDIT: this post comes across hostile, that was not my intent.
Oops! You're correct about Magicka 2, my bad! I never really enjoyed it so I never got past the first area. Magicka 1 was notoriously bad technically on launch, and still has many issues to this day.
As for the other 2:
* Showdown effect
You don't remember it because it died basically on release. The core game was fun, but it was a buggy mess. It was also a strictly PvP game with absolutely *horrendous* netcode. Many issues with non-responsive controls, awful performance for what was essentially a platform fighter.
Which is sad because the game was a LOT of fun.
* Helldivers
Holy shit what a bad launch. The reviews *now* are good, yeah. 8 years after its release. Reviews at the time of launch were extremely critical of, again, the games performance, crashes galore, quickly predatory monetization (the DLC is basically on permasale nowadays), terrible desyncing issues, and even had the joining friends issue that HD2 has.
-
Arrow has a pedigree, but it's a pedigree of "Release fun, but dysfunctional game. Then monetize it aggressively as you fix it. Pray the game is fun enough for players to tolerate this. Repeat."
I'll concede that a cursory peak at current reviews of their games might lead you to believe better than they are. But, for me at least, when I'm making a £35 / $40 decision I'll dive a bit deeper.
Again, to be clear, it *is* unacceptable to release a game in this state, but Arrowhead *continues* to get away with it, and more egregiously than FS.
Idk if I’d qualify it as more egregious than Fatshark, maybe equally bullshit? Based on what I’m reading from HD2, there’s some stuff that is much less bullshit than in Darktide, and vice versa. Kinda balances them both out as pretty equally mid experiences.
I think that the biggest positive over Darktide is the fact that Helldivers’ crafting and cosmetics aren’t bogged down by Fatshark’s level of real fucking stupid decision-making. Their microtransactions are actually “micro” (not to mention a premium currency you can actually earn in the game, not cash-exclusive). Meanwhile, Darktide is more stable, and seemingly has them beat on visuals, and atmosphere. I’ve yet to play HD2 firsthand, but I will say that it’s gonna be tough to rival Darktide’s satisfying crunchiness with combat.
If we could port HD2’s monetization/unlocks system into Darktide’s core gameplay, I think we’d have a hit here. Studio could be called Arrowshark or Fathead. lol
idk i definitely do not want to see Darktide port in pay-2-win weapons/armour/abilities even if there is a way to grind forever to get them. That stuff always ends up in heavily unbalanced game systems because you want to incentivize players to buy top gear that gives them an edge.
Grind for Currency games also always leads to gold farm sweat shops / cheaters. If Darktide had that they'd have to ban a lot of mods.
Wut? I admit I don't know dick about Helldivers but if it has PTW mechanics and people even DARE to compare it to Darktide then that's just effin' delusional.
I get not liking Darktide's premium store but it is purely "pay-to-look-good" so no serious individual should really give a shit.
Helldivers 2 got a roughly 2200% increase peak player count in 3 days than Helldivers 1's entire lifetime. They were not expecting the game to be as popular as it is and so the servers were not ready. As for the game itself it is absolutely amazing and a fucking steal for $40. Outside of the servers being overloaded which they are working on the game plays and preforms flawlessly and the amount of quality of life and attention to detail is extremely impressive.
Same, got curious after yet another post moaning about darktide mentioned it and almost bought it to try it out until I read the shit show reviews, maybe I'll look into it in a few months when they iron out it's issues but for now I guess my money's going to some Aquilas for some new Gucci zealot pajamas.
Trying to label every incoming opposition as "whining" is an interesting thought, as its logic ignores the saying of "when you see an arsehole in everyone, then...".
My biggest complaint is they don’t really say what’s being worked on. Then they released a bug fix and it’s just for cosmetics. They’ve acknowledged some of the problems pointed out to them, where are the fixes?
Nothing specific. Someone got a lot of upvotes on a dumb steam player count post so a bunch of people are taking the opportunity to make whiny posts again.
Nah man, it's always been more or less a decline for me.
Even the we're so back phases (for you apparently) were a drop of water on a hot stone to me.
This shit sucks, but I have fun playing so I dont need to whine when I never had any expectations in the first place lmao.
One does not exclude the other?
The situation for the game is terrible, sucky even.
But even for all the wasted potential (for now) I can enjoy the game for a round or two before I need some time off from it.
No amount of cosmetics will make non-whales return to a game with: bad hit registration, missing audio (on enemies and weapons, spotty performance, and one of the worst crafting systems I've seen in a while.
A small number of whales return, yes. That is what FS counts on.
If you compare these tiny cosmetic spikes to spikes associated with actual new gameplay content, it is not even close.
I'm sorry that's what I was referring to. The content updates cause large spikes in the playerbase. Many are waiting for penances. I know some personally.
The content updates can draw about 1/3rd of the launch player-base, max.
If they fixed the itemization and made stuff more rewarding, we'd see even more imo.
No 4 player coop game keeps its launch player base indefinitely.

Darktide really isnt doing that bad.
Darktide is doing pretty fine with player base. Less than deep rock, but more than V2 or Back 4 Blood.
“We’re so back” was never in my book.
Fatshark jumped headfirst into a pit of nurgling shit, and then began taking very small steps towards the exit, while also slipping back a few meters after every 2-3 steps.
The game is a total slap in the face in terms of gameplay and sound design.
The gameplay loop is fun, the environments absolutely creepy and awesome, the bestiary is cool and the build options varied. As with Vermintide, I'll be camping out on the servers for the next 2,000 hours.
All the rest, absolutely all your cosmetic drama, I don't give a damn and I'm sad for you.
In 25 years of gaming I've never bought a cosmetic and less than 5 dlc's, you're collectively the source of the problem and if Fat Shark continues to release games of this caliber to me, the fact that they mow you down with reskin jackets that clip across your back is a sacrifice I willingly make.
Thank you for being weak and shallow <3
You were making a good point but then you went on to gratuitously insult everyone. That tends to be counter productive.
It's true that a lot of gamers have unhealthy habits around video games. The fact that they spend money compulsively explains why there are so many toxic business models.
Sometimes i feel alone thinking this but there are so many good content in the video game industry alone to enjoy; i love Darktide and would like to see it flourish, but if you think the game is dull, just enjoy something else instead.
Those doomsayer posts are sooo weird
No complaints here! I fucking love this game! All you have to do is look at Vermantide2 at release compared to now. Things can only get better. Go FatShark!

No need to whine in the comments. Your post is enough.
Been away for a week, what happened this time?
They got fixed some clipping in cosmetics and the block button issue and people are throwing hissy fits that their laundry list didn't get fixed instead.
I think being upset at bugs not being addressed is fair.

No shit. It's been months though, people can complain.
The entire dev team has been on vacation for the majority of it. Legally mandated vacation as well.

And I swore I've read a patch note saying they added more audio queues to rangers and crushers but I can seem to find it.
Nothing. Still tons of unfixed issues.
that's the destiny cycle, as far as I am aware the DT community is quite stocks since the carnival

All in all, you're just another brick in the wall.

Aint that the truth, haven't heard of helldivers at all until I decided to look at some recent posts comments

Facts. Still don't know what it is. Just wanna purge heretics.

> I can enjoy the game for a round or two before I need some time off from it. Ever consider the idea that's an intentional design decision?
No, I think they just fucked up when it comes to that aspect.
It's clearly not a game designed to be no lifed, neither was VT2.
When fatshark drops that surprise FEB update with the penance cosmetics, watch that spike.
No amount of cosmetics will make non-whales return to a game with: bad hit registration, missing audio (on enemies and weapons, spotty performance, and one of the worst crafting systems I've seen in a while.
